ff, who are you wishing a happy birthday?...did i miss something?...if you go to the beach, bring a camera...lol...

abi, my college roommate lives in brattleboro - he didn't tell me about the parade though...sounds cute...at 1200 calories a day, you WILL see the scale move - if you can tolerate it, stick with it for a week and i bet you'll see a change...

hey nanc, i'm with you on the processed food - and although i limit my intake, it's hard to imagine whole grains and fresh fruit as being poor choices, at least in moderation...

i'm shifting my plan to be more paleo...i like the idea of severely limiting my intake of anything it takes a machine to produce...it just seems logical to me that the more natural something is, the better it would be for us to eat...

i don't know why it took so long, but something clicked with me this morning and i got back into the appropriate mindset...i weighed in at 210, which was up 1 lb. from last week...i have been inconsistent in my motivation...maybe i finally got tired of gaining and losing the same few lbs...i know i need to find this commitment every morning and i'm not taking anything for granted, but i'm optimistic that i'm ready to really start losing again...

had a great day today:
b: hb egg
l: 3 oz. grilled chicken
s: small salad
d: chicken wings
and lots of water!

i'll say they do, Abigale.

i have the surgical patients in stitches. As for the office staff, i like to think they do. In any event, they are stuck with me until i retire. i am pleased to stay that i ate a little more reservedly today. i am now into the 9th minute of curfew. what a relief!!! FF

FF, at 4:23 am I am trying not to laugh out loud and wake DH. Glad you made it to curfew and didn't go over. Are you freezing at the beach?

Tony, I was surprised to be down a pound today so that will motivate me to keep with this a little longer. Did your college roommate grow up in Brattleboro or just settled there?

Listened to a podcast yesterday by Dr. Jack Kruse a neurosurgeon from Nashville. He also just started a blog this week that looks like it will be very interesting. He lost over 100 pounds eating low carb and is convinced that most diseases start with people not eating right. The Quilt - Jack Kruse

Got to get to Mom's - talk to you all later

abi, thanks for the link - i'll take a look...congrats on the lb...remember the math: as soon as you consume 3500 calories less than you need to maintain your weight, you will lose a lb...if you are around 118 lbs. you probably only need 1500 calories or so to maintain that weight unless you do a lot of exercise...there are calorie requirement calculators all over the web to give you an accurate number...if you eat 1200 cals a day, it would take 11 days or so to lose a lb...

at our age, you probably don't want to weigh less than you do, anyway...maybe you should just be developing a healthy maintenance plan?...

btw, my college roommate grew up in white river junction, went to unh with me and moved to brattleboro after getting married and spending time in maine...

finished the day strong last night...feeling very motivated this morning too...my mindset has not been this good in a while...it's amazing how for me it is all about my state of mind!

once again...the troll must yield to reality.

it is too cold for the beach. i will just focus on staying away from the house, and staying on plan. i used to be an early riser like u, Abigale. It is now 9 am, and i am not yet ready for primetime. i will try a walk to the low carb bakery, with socks and sandels. perhaps that will work. FF

FF, I would have to wear a parka to the beach today but would do it to get a tan on my legs. Does the low carb bakery only make low carb items? How far is from your home?

Tony, you are right about the weight deal. I pick a weight I think I'd like to be because I think all the fat would be gone if I got there. If I woke up tomorrow fat free and get into my favorite kahki pants the number on the scale wouldn't matter. Love it when the mindset is good. Mine is pretty good at the moment too.

Since I was down the pound today am going to eat same selection of foods today as yesterday. 4 nitrate free strips of bacon, 1oz horseradish cheddar cheese, 1/2 cup of greek yogurt with about 12 frozen blueberries in it, 2 Tbl. of coconut oil and 1/3 cup heavy cream in my coffees and 1 cup of cooked ground beef. ( and my wine) This was 50 grams of protein and 26 grams of carbs. Lots of fat.

Vicki, how is your Dad doing today after his surgery? Hope he is not in too much pain.

NOW IT CAN BE TOLD!!!

Although I did not make it to the beach today, I DID get in about 2 hours of walking. But not all at once. I broke it up into segments throughout the day. I keep forgetting that it does not have to be all at once. DUH!!!. I just may make it to the beach tomorrow, if the weather holds out. I prefer NOT to be struck by lightning, when at least part of me is wet. But wait, there's MORE. I solved my fitness center problem. There is a place in Bklyn (an independent) that has a deal, and no credit card, or hidden charges; unlimited usage for a whole year for a flat upfront $219.00. Okay, i will be eating more tuna and chicken thighs for a while. BUT, whether or not I get to Vegas on Dec 26, at least I will be more buff than now. I must wait for my next paycheck,to begin, as the landlord just got the current one. i also ate less than the last few days. Hey, sometimes u need to eat more.

ffs-fat finger syndrome.

I say this a lot, but it so important to read labels. The mayo at McD in my neck of the woods is LITE MAYO. The 4th ingredient is modified food starch. That makes it a health food. Well, it is 35 minutes into the curfew. I am going to play a few games of BEJEWELED and call it a night. FF

Hey, is it too late to get in on this blitz? If not, count me in. I finally got my head in the game on realizing I have got to get the weight off after months (years LOL) of delay.

Welcome aboard ncgirl37! The more the merrier. This is a wonderful group as you will find out.

So far today I have had 2 scrambled eggs and 3 strips of bacon at our after Church breakfast with some of the family. But guess what, they are having a family dinner tonight at Mom's in honor of brother from Georgia still visiting us. I am not worried at all about having any high carb stuff but I know right now that I won't be able to keep protein at 50 grams and carbs will more than 20. It is just too stressful trying to be that tight in control at one of these dinners. There is so much commotion and Mom and I have been going strong since early this morn. I can see myself now nibbling on extra cheese etc. Well tomorrow is Monday and all will be back to normal ( well as normal as usual -lol)

FF, so happy you have found a good exercise deal. Isn't that less than $5.00 a week? Hope you made it to the beach today.

Hi NCGirl! Welcome to our group!

Not much news to report - staying on plan but craving ice cream like crazy. Ever since the Blue Bell ice cream commercial came out advertising their new flavor - coconut fudge (a Mounds bar, people!!), I've been dying!

My load days are 6/15 and 16 and guess what I'm going to have!!!!!

did not make it to the beach. weather most unsuitable

however, it was a nice day. i did about a mile today. Then my feet began hurling obscenities at me. so, i had to stop. I DID save myself a housecall from Luciano. Last night, I accidentally disconnected my computer. when i saw the tangle of wires back there, like the head of Medusa, i panicked and called Luciano. This afternoon i fixed the connection and cancelled Luciano. I owe myself $75.00. Knowing what a greedy little troll i am,l I can be expected to stiff myself. The LOW CARB BAKERY is what i call THE TASTY PASTRY SHOPPE. They have regular stuff & sugar free stuff as well. But of course, that is off limits to me. when i am having my coffee and low carb goodie, i am, of course, looking at all the "regular" stuff, especially those cannolis. I have no trouble MERELY looking. Incidentally, the young ladies who work there are a fair competition for the pastries; easy on the eyes, and just as sweet. FF

Greeting ncgirl!!!

this is the place to be, if changing less than desirable eating behaviors and strengthening good ones is what u are after. i began these Blitzes 4/1/10 at 372.8. I am now (as of 6/2/11) 308. i am a slow loser. i accept that. I am seeing to it that the weight stays off. It is about finding what works for you, allowing yourself to make mistakes, and just plain fun. If u have to work too hard at a plan, then it IS the right plan, but for someone else, not u. love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

hey guys, happy to see everyone doing well...

ncgirl, it's never too late and you were here before, right?...you're an old-timer here if memory serves me...lol...

marilee, i should have had that ice cream while i was loading!...lol...enjoy a few spoonfuls for me, will ya?...

i am completely on track and in the right frame of mind - FINALLY!...it is so weird how this commitment can be elusive, but once you feel it, it is so powerful...

spent the weekend in maine - sorry i was gone, nancy - hope u had fun at the village - i AM gonna make it one of these times :-) anyway, i stuck with broiled haddock last night with roasted veggies...and had a pork chop and half a turkey burger tonight...

got a nice tan on the deck in maine today and i looked pretty good with my shirt off...much better than last year!...and i haven't thought i looked good in years, so that reinforced the value in what i've accomplished these last 14 months...i needed that!...

it feels good to be back on track...

Marilee, I sure would be having that coconut fudge ice cream too! How is your brother doing post surgery?

Tony, there is nothing like a tan to make you feel good about yourself. Happy your resolve is hanging in there.

FF, good for you for saving the 75.00 and fixing the computer. Too bad Luciano. That money can go to the new workout place.

Dinner last night went fine. Had green salad, 2 oz cheese, small piece of pork roast, and two plump chicken "fingers". Scale was same today so keeping the one pound lost. Back to curbing the carbs and protein today.

Everyone have a wonderful Monday! Have to get the oil changed in car this morn. Drop it off, walk back to Mom's, and then walk back to get car when they finish with it. A little exercise for a change.

Hi, everyone and thanks for the welcome... Tony, yes, I did one of these blitzs before a few months ago but did not complete : ( This time around my head is in it and am seeing weight loss now. So highly committed and motivated. Down a half pound today! Will read some of the posts later to try to get caught up. FF, does this bakery have a website? Not that I need it though. This time around I'm even staying away from low carb sweets except for sugar free jello or some strawberries every once in awhile. I'm finding it much easier to just stay on track. I made the mistake of buying some low carb ice cream and plowed through the carton in a few days. Had me craving sugar too, so staying away! My mini-goal is to be in the 160's by the fourth of July weekend. Long term goal is down to 140 before the end of the year. I'm 5'7 so this would be great for me.

Thanks Tony and I know what you mean about not being "at war with my own diet". I think the key to doing low carb is doing it your own way so that it's something you won't sabatage yourself on.

i agree, ncgirl...my LC way is to continue to include sensible carbs like healthy veggies and low glycemic index fruits...they do not trigger cravings for me...i'd love to include more whole grains, but i have to be very careful, because i can't seem to control them...and salty, grainy snacks are my weakness...get me anywhere near popcorn or tortilla chips and that's it!...lol...

Hi kids,
Hope everyone had a good weekend! I am NOT weighing myself this morning as I admit to a few indiscretions over the weekend with dinner events! HOWEVER, I did get to Planet Fitness for 2 hrs on Sat and 1 hr yesterday so hopefully the calorie burn helped with the food "sins".

Mondays always get me back on track - will walk at lunchtime today and will hit the gym after work....and good clean eatin' today and onward we go!!

B today - 1/2 C cottage cheese, in a hurry
L: salad and some pickeled herring
D: salad, baked cod, some veg

So Tony - glad you had a lovely weekend in Maine! We had a decent time at the Village, due to the Bruins game the light beers were $2 each and chicken tenders (we ordered them grilled) were .25 each!!! Cheap night out!!

NCgirl, welcome back! Hi all to everyone else! Abi - you are inspiring and well discliplined in your food choices! Good job on getting out and about FF!

thanks LIVEFREENH

i am happy to be back at work. too much weekend=too much opportunity to get into trouble(high carb trouble, that is).my work days provide me not only with structure, but i get so busy, i forget how hungry i am. After work, i am not going directly home. I am getting off at Bklyn. College, and walking the rest of the way home. That is exactly 45 minutes as the troll foot flies. Then it is a thin boneless pan sauted steak for dinner. FF

hey nanc, happy you guys had a good time - i woulda been all over the grilled chicken tenders :-)

ff, you are so damned disciplined - you inspire me, bro!...good luck with the walk and the feet...

i am feeling very strong again today - it's all in the mindset for me...when i'm in this frame of mind, it seems inconceivable that i can slip, but i know it will happen eventually...once again, i'm gonna ride this wave of discipline as far as it will take me...my goal is to get even 1 lb. below where i started this blitz - i can't bear to gain or not to lose over a whole three-month period!...

the scale said 208 this morning, so i'm 2 lbs. lighter than i was on friday...that gives me 3 1/2 weeks to lose 5 lbs...that's doable, and would put me at 203 or 1 lb. under my april 1 weight and 1 lb. over my all-blitzes/20 year low...i could live with that...

Hey Nancy! I wish I liked fish but other than tuna with mayo, shrimp, scallops and lobster in small doses I mainly like it breaded and fried. Consequently I haven't eaten it that way in several years. And it's probably the tartar sauce that I really like. lol
You are so faithful with the workouts. Scale should be kind to you tomorrow!

ncgirl, I can't eat low carb ice cream either. It calls to me from the freezer. Happy you are down 1/2 pound and have a good mind set. I am having a good one right now too so it feels great not to have the overwhelming cravings as I sometimes do.

FF, happy the work week schedule is keeping you disciplined! One good thing about Mondays anyway.

Tony, I have convinced myself that grains and sugar are poison so most of the time this keeps me from straying in those directions. I also know I am a very compulsive person and once I start on them I am totally derailed.
