brittany, it is AWESOME that you did not let one day of off-plan eating turn into two days, or one week or one month...don't beat yourself up - sometimes we need a day "off" to feel like we are in control and not just being controlled...good for you! :-)

sorry...fat finger syndrome...now where was I?

Oh yes, they ONLY make diet soda. no carbs, no calories, no caffeine. I only get other flavors when there is no choc in stock. (have u ever seen a grown troll cry?). Looking forward, in May, to make a pilgrimage to Costco. I'll scope around before deciding whether to invest in a year's membership. But, tonight I am making turkey wings. These wings are larger than the turkey from which they came. Enough for 8 meals (even with my appetite). Talk to you all later. FF

I've been under the weather since Sunday night. Sore throat, achy glands in neck. Think the stress of so much company for two days did me in. Back feeling pretty good today. Eating alot of leftover ham. Can't let it go to waste. Maybe I'll freeze some of it.

Lizzie, sorry about the high blood pressure. Hope all is well now.

Going to try to drink more water this week.

Everybody have a great day!

ff, i'll get to you earlier next time - before you've devoured all the steak!... :-)

hi abi, hope you keep feeling better...ham is salty so expect to retain some water while you're eating it, but then it should whoosh away...the extra water should help...

back up to 207 today after a very clean day yesterday - go figure!...what a see-saw we're on...lol...

Hi everyone! Yes, Tony it is quite a see saw....enough to make a person dizzy!!

I am somewhat pleased to report that I've lost 2 of the 4 pounds I gained back the past few weeks. Goodness I hate losing the same few pounds over and over again! Oh well, as Nancy said yesterday, back up on the wagon!!!!

Boy, it seems like everyone's being hit with either an overload of stress of some sort of bug or both......we need to stay focused and healthy...everyone take care of yourselves!!!

Have a great day!!

Today is my appointment with the surgeon regarding knee replacement surgery. I hope he doesn't tell me I need to lose more weight before I can get it done, but that is a possibility.

I'll let you all know how it goes.

Be blessed!!!!

Hello all,

Boy the weekend (and leftovers last night, WHAT WAS I THINKING????) did a lot of damage, I'm back up to 205 this morning. Must've been the ham....GRRRR! I saw 200 on Saturday morning, I was so close to freakin' Onederland and I let it slip away, ARGGHHH!

OK, I'm now having my salad for lunch and at about 1PM I will have my lunchhour - a trip to grocery store to get back-on-track foods and hopefully a 30 minute walk. This week's meals are going to be really clean, spartan

But I'm wearing a "new" outfit today -- a silk blouse and nice dress pants in the closet still with tags on them from 10 years ago!!!... yeah baby, they fit!

Marilee - GOOD LUCK at your doc appt today, hopefully things can be done minimally invasive? I know nothing about knee surgery. Do get yourself a Pix Stick from your local Ace Hardware store, it's a handy picker-upper great for post-surgery.

Thanks! I already have one of those...I've had it for quite a while. I'm a shortie and it helps me reach things and now it helps me pick things up because I can't kneel or bend my knee very well.

I am playing hooky from work today because I feel so crappy about my body. The junk I have been ingesting also affects my mood and others around me. Pseudo depression maybe? Already found a sub for tomorrow. More wallowing in self pity for me I guess.

Good luck at surgeon's office Marilee.

i had my knee replacement done in 2002.

my surgeon would not do it until i had dropped about 100 lbs. I got down to 272 when he did the surgery. It is not so much the procedure, but the phys therapy that follows. When i was about 370 lbs, there was no way i could do any activity more strenuous than licking a stamp. Getting a walker (w/o the wheels)helped. I was able to really walk, and get quite a workout at the same time. Back then, it took about 6 months to lose the weight.Nowadays, it takes quite a bit longer. I am "crying" all the way to the supermarket. Best of luck, and keep us posted. Gibby. FF

I ate Easter Candy over the weekend--yuck--what was I thinking? I'm back on track but popped up 4lbs on the scale well over my "maintaining" range.

I was craving carbs like crazy too! I don't know why I let the stuff pass my lips...I think there is a real addictive quality to it for my metabolism. Once I start eating it I have a hard time stopping and it seems almost worse for not having been eating it if you know what I mean?

I am eating very clean today--hardboiled eggs! much better than Easter candy--and drinking a ton of water so I'm hoping those lbs will come off as fast as they came on. Boy is it scary to see the scale jump like that! I think the salt in the ham probably had alot to do with it...

Anyways just checking in--have good day everyone!

Interesting report from the surgeon-first let's address the elephant in the room. Yes, he would like me to continue losing weight (he was so pleased with the 30 pounds I've lost this year). He would like my BMI to be in the
40's. However the main reason he's postponing surgery is because he thinks I'm a little young (I almost kissed him!) to be having it so he wants to exhaust all other options before he resorts to that. So, once I get permission from my primary care doc, I will get what they call "chicken shots" to help with the pain.

So, I feel very much at peace, but was all set for the surgery. It's in God's hands and He knows best!

I appreciate all of you so much for your encouragement and hand-holding!
Thank you!

marilee, congrats on being so young!...lol...i think it's good that they want to try other remedies...the replacement will be new whenever you do it, so the longer you put it off, the longer it will last...

tammy, welcome to the "losing the same weight" club...lol...congrats on losing the 2 lbs. ...that is GREAT!

nancy, we are in a race, but we're both running in the wrong direction!...lol...we'll be fine and will get to 1derland soon... :-) btw, congrats on fitting into your old clothes!...

HI JENNY!...the weight you gained is not real weight - i'm sure you are retaining some water...you'll lose that after a few clean days...don't sweat it - i had a few m&ms myself - i mean they were right there!...lol...

vicki, i think you are being too hard on yourself...you're not committing a sin or hurting anyone...you're simply trying to get healthier and i know you can do it...first, try emptying your house of anything you think you shouldn't eat and fill it with good, tasty, on-plan foods...that's it...

start by eliminating the bad stuff and eat as much of the good stuff as you need to, to satisfy your appetite...sometimes if you are trying to cut out foods and portion sizes at the same time, it is overwhelming...take smaller steps first...make small changes you can stick to and i bet you'll start seeing results...

in the aproximately 6 months it took me to lose the weight

i also tried every non-surgical trick in the book to bypass the need for surgery. Pain management (it managed to keep me in pain), glucosamin/chondroitin for 6 months-zilch(perhaps it worked on the wrong leg. I hope u have better luck. Fortunately, I only had pain when I moved (w/o the walker). As regards my age, the ins companies and funeral homes were sending me calendars that ran only through June. Yesterday, was the last day of Passover. Guess what i am having for breakfast? Tuna on low carb toast. Oh what a good troll was I!!! FF

Live Free: congrats on fitting into a "new" old outfit.

jfinchster: Easter candy, I can relate.

Tony: Thanks for being so supportive

ff: you are so consistent with your posts, thanks.

Marilee: Congrats on being too young for the replacement.

OK, mental health day #2. Yesterday went well as far as eating. Today will too. I am also going to start using EFT (tapping) to help with my food issues. This technique can be used for other issues as well. It sounds hokey, but it sure isn't going to hurt anything. You can Google EFT and find out more about it. Basically it is acupuncture without needles and affirmations.

Well, my day is off to a good start just reading and laughing at FF's post. Thanks!

Marilee, I pray the chicken shots will ease your pain considerably.

Nancy, wonderful about the smaller clothes fitting!

Tammy, great on losing those two pounds!

Tony, 3 good days in a row is fantastic!

Vicki, I also get depressed when I eat junk. If I get afew clean days under my belt I start to feel better about myself and physically feel better. Have a good day!

Jenny, I hope your hard boiled eggs are more appetizing than the ones around here. We made deviled eggs out of the eggs the little ones colored on Sat. and most have blue or green dye stained whites. Taste good but not pretty to look at. lol

Plan today to eat less ham and drink more water.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

ff, i bet they are sending you two-year calendars these days... ;-)

hi abi!...i know what you mean about the colored egg whites LOL...btw, i like your plan for today!

vicki, happy to hear you are in a better place...i really think you can do this if you start by making small, do-able yet meaningful changes...eliminate a few things you think you can live without...for me it was breads, sugars, fried foods...for you it may be other things, but the trick is to make healthy changes without feeling too deprived...once you get used to those changes, the subsequent changes come much easier...and before you know it, you have tricked your body into accepting a healthier way of eating and gotten rid of bad habits...

a change could be setting a curfew of 9 p.m. like ff and i have done...every little bit helps!...

Dr. Bill Davis at his Heart Scan Blog talks about Niacin but I don't think he mentions blood pressure on that particular post.

i passed the anger test.

i believe we have all gone off the deep end food wise,at one time or another, when we were good and pi$$ed. I won't go into the whys and wherefors, but suffice it to say, i am justifyably enraged. On my 10:15am break, i went down to our coffee area. The sandwiches were already out. I got 2 turkey sandwiches, expecting i would eat both (sans the rolls of course). By the time I got back to my desk, I decided: why make things worse. I only ate 1/2 the innerds (turkey, romaine slices, tomato and cuke slices.)& i am now finishing the other 1/2.I gave the orange wedge garnish to a co-worker. those romaine leaves make very good places to put the turkey and tom. The 2nd sandwich is for tomorrow.Incidentally, there was NEVER a danger of eating the roll. But, I am glad (at least this time)that I averted off-plan eating, even though it was low carb. I am patting myself on the back, btw. Let us see if i can get a walk in this evening. my feet recovered from Sunday. it all depends on the weather, and what time i get home. FF

I'm down 3.5 lbs today! As usual Tony you were right, it wasn't real weight just water, but easily could have become real if I hadn't gotten strictly back on plan...

I'm within 1/2 lb of my "cut off" number and hope to be under it tomorrow.

Today's food;

2 baked chix wings, couple rounds of cucumber--Breakfast (wierd I know)

Asian chix salad (cabbage, radish, cilantro, cucumber, lettuce, etc. with chix breast and low carb seasme dressing)--Lunch

grass fed beef potroast--green beans--dinner

I will probably have a hard boiled egg for a snack in there--keep my portion on the smaller size and drink a ton of water!

I will walk for about 45 minutes today also (during my daughter's ballet class)

Have a good on plan day everyone!

tony, they should make me a partner.

my jokes alone put away lots of HEWMONS. Got to finagle a buck somehow in this wicked world. Well, nothing assists plotting and scheming like a
Swiss Miss DIET hot choc with whipped cream.. btw her sugar free hot choc has more carbs.

KUDOS to ff and jfinchster.

Tony, 9 p.m. curfew wouldn't be a problem for me since I am in bed at that time LOL.

I made good use of my hooky day today. I have cleaned my kitchen top to bottom, inside and out. Even pulled out the refrigerator and stove EGAD! Been at it since about 8 this morning and now I am finally relaxing and waiting for the floor to dry (it is now 2:30 pm).

jenny, that is great - see how much we have learned in a year?...we probably both would have panicked this week if it were a year ago, dontcha think?...way to focus, sis!...your menu and exercise sounds soooo healthy!

ff, i'd pay to watch you do stand-up comedy - it doesn't seem fair for me to receive all this entertainment for FREE!!! :-)

vicki, you did great getting in some productive exercise today...way to go, girl!...

lizzie, best of luck with the stress - let us know if we can help!... :-)

i got bitten by a tick on sunday and am not sure if it will turn out to be lyme disease...took a heavy dose of anti-biotics today and if i have no symptoms, i will go for a blood test in 3 weeks to make sure i'm clear...guess it's nothing to mess around with!...

good day again today...ate more during the day than usual but on-plan and i'm not hungry so i'm sure i'll eat less tonight...i was at 206 this morning for those of you who are on the edge of your seat every day waiting for my weigh-in results...

i prefer, Tony, to do sit down comedy.

why put wear and tear on my dogs? That is animal cruelty. Actually did a modest walk this evening;at Shoprite. 1st i had a small black coffee. Then I hit the aisles listening to hunting music by LEOPOLD Mozart, Wolfgang's dad. It had hunting rifles and dogs as well. Most relevant, as I had my nose to the ground sniffing out low carb bargains. I just got what I needed and left.No deals today. Tomorrow is weigh-in. all i need is a 0.6 lb loss to make 75 lbs. What do the Gods & the Fates have in store??? Well, they are in the oven...the turkey wings. I wanted to make all 4, but the oven is too small. I tell you, each wing is larger than the turkey from which it came. i figure 1 & 1/2 hours covered(350F) & 1 hr uncovered at 475F. I just realized, I haven't eaten dinner yet. I have the other order of ribs from yesterday. I will begin at 8PM on the dot, and try to make it last as long as possible, but, before the"witching" hour begins. FF

just took the wings out of the oven.

so glad i am on curfew. i would eat them all. i wish i had the technological 'je ne sais pas' to post them in the FOOD PORN section. They are beautiful. They are resting with some aluminum foil loosely placed on top. The spices I used (and certainly not posted in stone)are minced garlic, celery seed (on 1 side only), some twists of cracked black pepper, poultry seasoning (it was there), Mrs Dash garlic & herb(yes...i am hooked on garlic),and paprika for color. i also sprayed them with Pam butter flavor spray to make the spices stick. Tomorrow is gonna be a long day!!! FF
