Thanks Cindy! I like having the new thread up Sunday night for us 'early risers' Monday morning.
Glad your outing was drama free and a lovely time! Becky, I'm appalled with what that woman wrote and angry with you! How on earth is any of it your (or DDs) fault? He's the one that screwed up. Sounds like she's looking to place blame anywhere but where it belongs. Please take it with a grain of salt because anyone that matters knows the truth. ![]() ![]() MK, What's up for you today? Kelly, glad your cable and internet are back up. We've had the same issue with phone repair guys that always say 'the guy before me was an idiot and didn't fix it right...' Funny how they ALL say that! LOL Deb, are you back from VA Beach yet? Jenn, did she stop and visit you? ![]() Hellos to our 'need to check in Shorties', hope all is well. Out early for a car appointment, only opening he had this week. Just oil change and stuff. Gotta get the girls up and rolling. Will BBL. ![]() |

Back from my oil change already! (he squished me in before his 8 am appt.)
Yes Cindy, our spring break is the first week of April AND.... That's why I had to get the car in and totally checked over, as we'll be driving it to Florida. We were undecided if we were going to make the trip or not, and we intended to get a newer car by now but too many other bills got in the way. DHs mom hasn't been doing so well, even though she's had improvement on new meds at the Alzheimer's nursing home down there, and couldn't see another available time to go down in the next 6+ months. So it's more of a 'duty' trip than 'fun' trip. There haven't been any airfare bargains for a while, not to mention you can't take anything with you anymore. We felt we could handle a long car trip now that the girls are older. Also, we can't yank them out of school like we used to, they miss too much at the high school level, so stuck with school breaks which jack airfare 4 times as much. I've done NOTHING to prepare for this trip (well, got the car looked at now..) as we were undecided about going. Apparently we're going so I now have a billion things to do in the next two weeks. ![]() Help! MK, at my house, you know when someone was snoring or restless when one or the other is on the couch in the morning! ![]() Becky, wanted to clarify above ^....I should have put it in italics, as I'm not angry 'with' you, I meant as in 'angry along side you and for you'...That was one of the rudest things I've read in a while...Grrrr. Looks like I'd better start about 9 lists of things I need to do the next two weeks! Ugh. |

Morning girls-
The cat (that wasn't coming in) is inside with me this morning since its been raining pretty hard since late yesterday afternoon. (it was also in the 40's when I drove DS17 to school) needless to say, my little grey puffball seems happy to be warm and dry. I do have to keep kicking him off the furniture though. I don't want his very sharp claws going through my lovely antiques. At my house today, other than the usual, I have a conference with DS17's math teacher followed by a dentist appointment. (anyone wanna trade days with me???) I started an interesting and somewhat humorous book about one parents view of the college aps process, its called "Crazy U" Definitely worth browsing through. Becky, That is awful and so MEAN! If they took more than 2 seconds to really think about it, they might realize that protection orders don't get handed out unless there is a reasonable suspicion that something might happen. again for you, Kim, and her precious babies!Kaye, except in this case the people before the people that fixed it actually were idiots and we had other people come last night to follow up on the "unclimale pole." I have a feeling the guy that wouldn't climb the pole might be having a conversation with a supervisor sometime this week. Cindy, brace yourself for the weekend! Hopefully, it will go quickly! MK, after all your stuff, take a nap! ![]() Debbie, when is your race? |

I am back. Had a fun weekend. Ate and drank too much. Did fantastic in my race which is amazing because I had to stop due to stomach issues and I still was faster then my fastest time ever last year.
we are going to Billy and Mirsa's soon for dinner and to see Bella. My middle son will come over too I am sure. I have to go back and read what Becky was writing about. My mom says the trip to Israel I am taking with her was canceled. I guess a family backed out and there aren't enough people. I haven't spoken to her about it. I guess I will hear more soon. I am fine with not going. I just want to know for sure before I plan my time differently. |

Becky, obviously they believe his lies. Kim is doing the right thing. Kim must be equally as angry with this women. I would make sure she was blocked from your FB accounts and anyone else that is like her too.
I have to go get ready to drive to College Park. It is rush hour so it will take longer then usual. I am working 12 tomorrow. I wish I wasn't but I do need to have some sort of paycheck for this week. |

Math conference wasn't bad, she's a very nice and concerned teacher. Now, if only the other teacher I really need to speak with would just respond to my emails. Sigh...
(and the dentist wasn't bad either, its always less torturous when I'm eating less sugar/carby stuff. (you would think that would be enough to make me eat right) Debbie, enjoy that beautiful baby tonight! |

Morning!
Up early; couldn't sleep! ![]() So I watched my guilty pleasure "The Real Housewives of the OC", and "Castle". We are under a winter storm warning too, today into tomorrow night......we are supposed to have dinner tomorrow night with DD's FMIL and FSIL......hoping it's outta here by then. I brought my dress for the shower to my friend yesterday to fix.....actually anxious to wear it......need to do self tanner on my legs though. Kaye - when do you leave? That's coming up soon......glad you are able to go and see MIL and hopefully you will be able to enjoy some warm weather too! Debbie - she is beautiful! ![]() Kelly - I hate when teachers do not respond......we have a policy at the college that you have to respond within 48 hours if you are on campus......I used to struggle with that when DDs were in HS. Now if someone doesn't respond within a couple days, I forward the original email again with a note that says: "Did you get the email below?" Hugs to Becky!!!! PUnits arrive Thursday.......a stressful weekend ahead and it's already started with my Mother.....keep good thoughts that we find a dress for her Saturday. She is irritated that I am not taking Friday off....... ![]() Work late today........ |

Becky - I'm sure you're stressed!! ![]() Cindy - I'll be thinking of you this week! And you've been up for 2 hours?! ![]() Castle was good though! ![]() Hope your snow warning isn't much. We're still in the 70's, but supposed to get into the 40's by the end of week. ![]() So - DS22 brought his GF home with him for Spring Break. I'm happy about that, but it means I don't have ANY time alone with DS22!! We usually go to lunch together, the store, etc. I almost feel like I should apologize to my MIL for taking her son away . . . . ![]() I do feel better that I insist that DH spend time alone with his mom whenever we go back to KC!

![]() Hugs to you Cindy for you upcoming 'mom' weekend. (((hugs))). We'll be getting some of the nasty weather heading to you, but we're below the line, so rain for us instead of ice. MK, want me to create a distraction so you can kidnap DS for some alone time? Do you think 'LOOK! SQUIRREL!!' would work? ![]() Kelly, I have the opposite problem...responsive/caring teachers and a kid that won't accept help and advice... ![]() Deb, adorable 1 month portraits She really does look like the pic of her daddy you showed!I hear Puerto Rico is just beautiful...I hope you get to do some touristy stuff during your quick trip. Becky, working with toddlers is exhausting no matter what! Along with your other life stresses right now. (((hug))) And a last week question: No, I've never worked in a daycare, found my two 'spirited' kids were enough to handle! Lots of preschool and elementary school volunteering and 7 years of Brownie/Girl Scout leadership almost qualifies as 'day care' though. Discovered I'm not overwhelmed with love for other people's children... ![]() My 'change oil and check anything that might blow up on a long car ride' car appointment showed everything okay, except I need two new tires. Didn't realize they were that bad until we got it up on the lift. Have to call today to find out when he'll get them in and can put them on. Other than that, hanging here doing laundry and other house chores. Trying to get my mind thinking about what I'm going to need to do for this trip that I'm quite unprepared for....ugh. BBL ![]() |

MK - can't you ask DS if he would mind if just the two of you went to lunch, had coffee, whatever.....sometime while he is home? He could talk to DGF and I am sure she wouldn't mind a few hours by herself......maybe drop her off at a mall or something somewhere? I am sure she would understand!

Morning,
The policy at the HS here is that teachers are supposed to respond within 24 hours. The math teacher, would qualify as Kaye's kids teachers, loving, caring, responsive (actually, all of his teachers would EXCEPT the one not answering my email, I even CC'ed the principal on the second email, guess I'll do that again)... DS17 doesn't like to admit he needs help. (its kinda like stoping to ask for directions, she tells me guys have that problem alot) The other teacher, I've been told, is not "athlete friendly" whatever that means. My guess is she doesn't think the kids should have extra-curriculars she wouldn't enjoy. I know two of his team mates weren't allowed the same make-up quiz he missed, BUT they've been jumping through her other hoops so it only dropped them to a C. (The quiz was on a day they were excused for sports) He's so frustrating, other than math, where he struggles, you look at the break down of his scores and he has either an A or high B average on all tests/quizzes and doesn't turn in any homework which kills his overall grade and frustrates me to no end! Debbie, I can't believe she's already a month old! Keep those pics coming, she gorgeous! Becky, ![]() Kaye, glad the mechanic didn't find much! Cindy, my new fave feel good reality show is "Secret Millionare" The people that are running the organizations that are in inner city locations on a shoe string budget are really inspiring. MK, ditto what Cindy said, his GF might appreciate some alone time too. She may feel like she has to be around to be polite while she's there. Just ask her! |

MK, once they have girlfriends, wives etc. it seems we start to compete for time with our sons. Believe me I know. I am lucky with Mirsa. I really prefer not to be around Rebecca. Regretfully DS26 is in love and she is posting all these wedding things on FB. I hope she realizes he can barely support himself.
Speaking of DS26 someone got a hold of his debit card info and has used all his money up spending from Va to Texas. He was at some sort of fair near Richmond. I guess they swiped his info or something. He will need a new debit card. So he is waiting for all that to get cleared up. These things only seem to happen to Jordan. Kaye, I can't imagine driving from Michigan to Florida. What part of FL you going to? It would be a long ride from here and it is around 16 hours I think. Most people stop for the night and split it into a two day trip unless they don't mind sitting in the car for that long. Kelly, I am so glad I am done dealing with teachers. I do worry about DS19 but he is in college and on his own. Becky, my DIL works is in charge of the 2 year old room where she works. She goes back in just about a month. Cindy, I worry when my mom comes. I never know how to keep to keep her busy and I have to clean like crazy before she comes. My grand baby is so cute. She is starting to smile a little bit. She got a bath while we were there and got so worn out she fell asleep without eating much so I hope she didn't give them problems last night. We must of tired her out along with the bath. She will go to day care where Mirsa works. She can nurse her and see her often. The kitchen is right next to the baby room so she goes by there a lot. Her sister works in the baby room. Her mom works afternoons in the baby room. Her cousin works with her in the 2 year old room. Her niece works part time after her classes in the 4 year old room. Billy will be there this summer working with the 5 year olds. The day care loves her family I guess. I am jealous because once she is back to work I won't get to go over during the week to see her. Her sister says I can come to day care but that I am not sure about. I have to go finish getting ready for work. 12 hours today. I am on protein/fat only( accept for the sugar free pickle relish in my tuna salad) today and maybe tomorrow. I have been eating so bad I won't even get on the scale till I real it in for a few days. I have to be in a bathing suit next week. DH doesn't care but I do. My clothes fit but I feel fatter! |

Debbie, we are very lucky here to have mostly wonderful teachers. Being as involved in school stuff as I am, its easier to get to know them as people outside the classroom too, which helps. The comment about the one teacher came from one of her colleagues that has been at the HS for many many years, been encouraged to apply for admin. positions, but loves working with the kids, so has never applied for them.
Of course, we are all individuals and we all have our pet peeves, and it is useful to kids to have to figure out how to manage with difficult people. Hope things are quickly resolved with your DS's debit card! That is a pain! DS17's was stolen about a year ago and it seemed to take forever to get it all figured out and we caught it pretty quickly, after only 2 charges on it. |

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Peeking in from work. Kelly - I was really involved when the girls were in school too, so got to know the teachers well and some outside of school also....I requested each year also - based on the needs of my child and the personality of the teacher - there were TOO MANY bad teachers and I didn't want to risk getting one of them......some didn't/don't agree with that, but it worked in our favor and the girls were successful because of it. MK - yeah; I understand too - if they aren't there for the week, then what do you do. Glad you had lunch with them...... And on that note, I got the nicest email from DD21's DBF's Mom.......(we are pretty sure he is going to become a DH at somepoint), but he is in DD23's wedding as a groomsmen and we invited his Mom and sisters to the shower and his whole fam to the wedding.......she offered to help in any way she/they can over the next few months and said do not hesitate to ask.......... I thought that was so nice......I think she, like MK, is thinking of the future and yes, we are probably going to be family someday!!! Nasty weather out there........ ![]() |

Cindy - It never hurts to make nice!
I go out to dinner with DD24's BF's mom about once a month. Just in case they ever get married, I want us to share the grand-kids nicely! ![]() Hopefully DD24's BF landed safely today - he was flying back to Milwaukee, but I don't know when. Did the bad weather extend down that far? She texted me that they had a wonderful time, but i don't know any more than that yet. |

DD21 said it was just wet and rainy in Milwaukee.
South of us was more rain and sleet than snow and ice. I think that is why DD21's BF's Mom and I communicate regularly too...... And DD23's FMIL and I have been friends since they were in 8th grade......not good friends, but it could come....... |

![]() DH was working close to home (for a change ![]() A rare thing we get to meet for lunch! Glad I could lighten the mood for you MK! ![]() Deb, isn't a stolen debit card number tougher to 'fix' than a stolen credit card number? Sorry to hear that happened! Cindy, did you get 'weather'?
