Allies Exercising Around the World - March Challenge

Newcomers Welcome!!

Well it's almost spring, time to kick it into high gear!

We welcome anyone who wants to join us as we continue our quest to exercise regularly and log enough exercise miles to travel around the world.

Here's how we do it:We are committed to following our plan(whatever our LC plan) and exercising. To get from one location to another, we're logging our exercise miles like this:

Whether you go to the gym, take exercise classes, work out at home, walk vigorously or bike ride outside, or do whatever gets you moving -- 10 minutes = 1 mile. Or you can post your actual mileage per the treadmill, bike, elliptical, etc.

For example, if I take a 60 minute class, that equals 6 miles. If I also do the elliptical and the control panel shows 2 miles, I've done a total workout of 8 miles. We just add our miles to the last person's by copying and pasting.

Hello March!

Wonderful news about DD, you should be so very proud, I am sure part of their success is because they see your commitment to working out.

OK, the Avatar shot... New Year 2009, after midnight of course. I was bouncing around with that Penguin from out Xmas decorations, don't ask... Behind me is my DD2, Mint Q8, but I kindly cropped her out of the photo. All I can say is that it was as much fun as it looks, lol.

JM- No More Trouble Zones yesterday after work. Then dd2 and I ran to the mall. We found the cutest ballet slippers - lovely with skinny jeans - all different colors and designs - on sale for Dhs 15. Thats US $4!! Needless to say, we got a few pairs!

I am very proud of dd! She loves sports and is very competitive. But she is also very competitive in her grades so she is always in the top 3 of her class! Insha'allah it will take her far in life!

Kissa - I thought I say Mint mention something about New Years re: your avi!!! Looks like a wonderful time! Has she arrived yet?

Sandy - Is your weather warming up? I know how much you love spring!

Good work ladies, rest day for me, had a luxurious face treatment to get my skin glowing for the Big Party on Saturday night.

Spring is trying hard here. We have had 2 days of sunshine and more expected over the weekend, so the daffodils are really trying to bloom.

I am waiting for Mint as I write this, time is dragging.....

Step Reebok after work yesterday. Long, Long meeting for all UAE nationals (me included since I carry citizenship) with the people who own our company. I managed to have some lovely white fish and salad for lunch. Stayed away from all the carbs and sweets. Of course, everyone else thought I was crazy!

Spent the day today lying in the sun and relaxing alone! Dd's went to a sleepover, boys both had football matches and Dh was on duty. But tomorrow I get to go furniture shopping for the living room/dining room!!!!!

Sandy - two more horrible winters is worth the education you'll get. I'd be skeered, too. But you can do it! Maybe I'll join you - if I can find a university course here or online that I like. I'd really like to study natural nutrition like our beloved Fawn (Misty)!

I have been walking lots with my little dog friend, but as it's so cold we have only been going out for 10 minute blocks. Twice we were able to manage 30 mins.

Lol Sandy! Cats need all kind of grooming. They need baths and nails clipped. Have you ever tried to clip a cats nails???? Not fun!!!! And since the weather is warming he is shedding like mad so they brush him down good.

Maryam Haha! I catsit for a girlfriend sometimes and she clipped her cats nails like it was nothing and the cats just sat there!! I wouldn't dare!

It's warmed up a bit so yesterday went for an hour long dog walk, plus yoga and shorter walks. Today looks to nice too, thankfully.

I didn't post my miles for Thursday! JM - No More Trouble Zones!

Really warmed up here. Spent the morning friday on the terrace soaking up the Vitamin D. Saturday the girls and I went shoe shopping. We all wear the same size so its like we all got 3 new pairs. I also ordered some ne workout DVD's. Since I'm really liking Jillian Michaels I ordered some of the Biggest Loser workouts. I can't wait!

So glad your weather is warming up Sandy! Kissa is enjoying the slopes in Germany!

I am feeling great! Probably because it is warming up at last. Looking for a new place to live since I will be going to school (ack, still having anxiety!!), I need to be closer to the school.

Going to the farmer's market this morning to load up for the week. This will be week 3 of making a week's worth of lunches and dinners on my days off. It really helps me stay on track and frees up my time during the week.

No I've never seen the show, Sandy. Its not on over here. But I LOVE Jillian Michaels workouts and these got really customer reviews so I thought I'd try them!

I find having my lunches planned and ready really helps me, too. Usually I cook enough ribeyes and lamb chops on the grill on the weekend to last all week. Then I just throw a salad, dresisng and the meat in my lunch box for work! Wish we had a farmers market so I could get fresh eggs and produce!

Glad you found a recipe. Kima is usually served with rice or flat bread. Maybe you could use cauliflower instead of rice. I usually just eat it without the rice or bread. Or because I'm crazy sometimes I use lettuce leaves instead of bread!

Hello my lovely Allies.

Had a wonderful week in Garmisch but only one day's skiing. Will claim 12 miles for it but it, I had 3 nasty falls and my DH really struggled so we decided to enjoy the other great things about Germany.

We had a lovely time with glorious warm sunshine every day and I can't bear that my lovely DD, MintQ8, will be leaving tomorrow for Oman.

I stepped on the scale this morning as I was feeling a bit bummed out about the whole weight thing.......it really could have backfired if my weight went up.....

Down 1.5lb, but only counting -1. I feel as though it is not all for nothing!

Weather here is pretty nice actually. The kima was really really good and super easy!! Thanks for that Maryam.

We welcome anyone who wants to join us as we continue our quest to exercise regularly and log enough exercise miles to travel around the world. Here's how we do it:We are committed to following our plan(whatever our LC plan) and exercising. To get from one location to another, we're logging our exercise miles like this: Whether you go to the gym, take exercise classes, work out at home, walk vigorously or bike ride outside, or do whatever gets you moving -- 10 minutes = 1 mile. Or you can post your actual mileage per the treadmill, bike, elliptical, etc. For example, if I take a 60 minute class, that equals 6 miles. If I also do the elliptical and the control panel shows 2 miles, I've done a total workout of 8 miles. We just add our miles to the last person's by copying and pasting. Then dd2 and I ran to the mall. We found the cutest ballet slippers - lovely with skinny jeans - all different colors and designs - on sale for Dhs 15. Thats US $4!! Needless to say, we got a few pairs! I am very proud of dd! She loves sports and is very competitive. But she is also very competitive in her grades so she is always in the top 3 of her class! I catsit for a girlfriend sometimes and she clipped her cats nails like it was nothing and the cats just sat there!! I wouldn't dare! Really warmed up here. Spent the morning friday on the terrace soaking up the Vitamin D. Saturday the girls and I went shoe shopping. We all wear the same size so its like we all got 3 new pairs. Cindy Hope you are having fun tearing up the slopes! I am feeling great! Probably because it is warming up at last. Looking for a new place to live since I will be going to school (ack, still having anxiety!!), I need to be closer to the school. Going to the farmer's market this morning to load up for the week. This will be week 3 of making a week's worth of lunches and dinners on my days off. It really helps me stay on track and frees up my time during the week. No I've never seen the show, Sandy. Its not on over here. But I LOVE Jillian Michaels workouts and these got really customer reviews so I thought I'd try them! I find having my lunches planned and ready really helps me, too. Usually I cook enough ribeyes and lamb chops on the grill on the weekend to last all week. Then I just throw a salad, dresisng and the meat in my lunch box for work! Wish we had a farmers market so I could get fresh eggs and produce! Kima is usually served with rice or flat bread. Maybe you could use cauliflower instead of rice. I usually just eat it without the rice or bread.
