Blitz IV - January 1 through March 31, 2011

Welcome to our ragtag group of weight-losers, all trying to get to a healthier, happier place in our lives. We are a friendly, open, non-judgmental confederation of folks from all over the country, following various plans, almost all of which have an LC element to them.

We're not cliquey - just friendly - and all are welcome to join in at any point during these three months. This is the 4th (3-months each) blitz in a row for some of us - the whole concept was started last April by Flat Ferenghi, our reluctant but intrepid leader. :-)

We encourage you to post as much as possible, but there are no rules and no expectations on anyone - this is as laid back and supportive as it gets.

Let's do this together! :-)

Marking my spot. My goal for this blitz is to get back down to at least my lowest of 170. Even better would be 160, but if I don't make it, I am fine with 170.

I don't know what kind of weight loss to expect on this new plan. I know what they 'say' can be lost, but I don't know what my reality is. If I could drop 25 pounds in 3 months, I'd be a happy girl

marilee, that's a pretty ambitious goal, but if anyone can do it, you can...

great to meet you stars...another aggressive goal - best of luck and we're here to help in any way we can...

i'm gonna be elated if i can lose 11 in the next three months and get to 1derland for the first time in 20 years...i seem to do best when i am losing at a rate of 1/2 to 1 lb. per week...that's about 250-500 calories below my maintenance requirements...

each of us is different and some can lose at a faster rate with no ill effects, but the last 9 months have taught me that i need to be patient and accept slow, steady progress...

looking forward to getting to know all of you...let's share some details on who we are when we have a chance...

I wish I could go back to sleep lol! Got a 4am workout in and now I'm working til 3 I feel so much better working out in the am but knowing me...I'll workout again when I get home

Came in on the tail end of the last Blitz but marking my spot in full for this one. My goal is to stay on track, lose five pounds a month until I hit goal and exercise via walking and Zumba and whatever else to incorporate a healthy lifestyle change. In order to hit my 40 by 40 goal on August 19 for my birthday, I have to lose exactly 5.33 pounds a month. Looks reasonable on paper LOL. Anyways, with all that said, Happy New Year everyone and good luck with your goals!

hey marilee, that is cold for arizona...actually, it's cold for anywhere...it's warmer than that in nh right now - we are supposed to have a high of 48 today...

jana, great to have you here...along with ncgirl, your youth and incredible motivation to work out hopefully will rub off on some of us more sedentary types...actually i have a hip problem that seems to be improving, but limits my aerobic exercise, but i DO work out 3-4 times a week doing ab and weight training and am buffing up

btw, jana, thank you for your service...

ncgirl, that is another ambitious but workable plan and if you do all that exercise, that will surely help get you there...remember, when you are working out rigorously, you will be building muscle mass and that adds weight, so don't be discouraged with small or no losses for a while until you build that fat burning engine and get it in high gear...eventually, you will lose more fat and be healthier incorporating exercise...


i was a very good boy last night...okay, i was very good by new year's eve standards ...didn't drink, didn't overeat, didn't touch the pizza, had one ravioli, did snack on some chips and ate 5 or 6 peanut m&ms...not much else to confess...i am so close to reaching 209 since god knows when that it is a strong motivation to behave...

that, and the fact that the memory of cheating over xmas and how miserable it made me feel is still fresh in my mind...

as i've said, my overall blitz goal is 199, but i have found i do so much better focusing on small, attainable, weekly goals and most weeks it will be 1 lb...this week's goal is just that and i want to see 209 on that scale so badly!...

i will graze carefully over this weekend and get very serious on monday!...the key is not to overpromise yourself something and then get disappointed - set small goals and celebrate tiny victories - one step at a time...

First of the new year weigh in: 157lbs

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone is having a good start to their New Year. This is day 3 for me back into LC and I'm doing awesome. No work out for me today. I stayed out an hour where I live, and won't be returning home until tomorrow morning. Back in the workout swing of things tomorrow!

I'm very happy to report that even though I went out for lunch yesterday, and went to a friends house to have drinks for the New Year that I stayed LC the whole time! I did have a minute where I almost caved in at lunch and ate some carbage, but realized within a few seconds that:
1 - I would be disappointed in myself
2 - I am only thinking of eating carbage due to the limited lc menu
3 - I want to reach my goal by my birthday and not always have a slip up to "start over" again
4 - I remember the quote that is in my signature, which is very motivating to me to stick to plan
So, I ordered scrambled eggs with turkey bacon.

- dropped another size
- logged my food daily in ******

CLANGER!!!!!!!!!....i've been wondering where you've been for many months...we've missed you and i am sooooo happy to see you back with us!...awesome!...were you checking in on us at all?...

jana, you're making me tired already!...just teasing

stars, congrats on not caving...i felt the same way last night surrounded by a ton of foods that would have tasted good for the moment and then made me feel awful for days afterward...

i am really motivated for this blitz...and looking forward to hanging with you guys


for the folks who don't know me yet, my name is tony and i will turn 52 during blitz IV...i live in nh with my wife and 5 kids (ages 15 to 26)...i have a lumber yard/hardware store just over the border in massachusetts, but my real job and passion is songwriting...i am in nashville about once a month to write on music row with some of the most talented people on the planet...

i was motivated to join blitz I when my bloodwork in april showed high blood sugar and bp and the doc wanted to increase my meds...i just realized it was now or never - that i needed to make a life change or accept an early demise...i have always felt good - which has been part of the problem, but i feel so much better after 9 months, 3 blitzes and 35 lbs. lost...

i could not have done it without these blitzes and you great people...

vicki, believe it or not, seeing gone with the wind is still on my bucket list...slipping on new year's eve is hardly a punishable offense...let's all start the new year with renewed resolve and a clean slate...

had an on-plan day...hung around and ate more than usual as i grazed all day/night, but didn't do much damage...tomorrow will probably be more of the same, then i'm a monk starting monday...

Kbeth I have to say this...sorry if it's offput and random Looking at your details compared to your avatar..there's no way you're 40! I hope I look that good at 40! Kudos to you!

I've been doing good so far this year. My goal is log all the food I eat and exercise everyday. So far so good Well the 31st I ran 6 miles..last night only 3 miles because I was doing some baking in the meantime but I filled the extra time in with some strength training on the good ole arms

With regard to health and fitness goals, have you considered the C25K (Couch 2 5K running) programme? The iphone/ipod touch app is fantastic (and free!).

The first day of my Blitz (today) hasn't been a resouding success so far - I've had about 50g of peanuts, which I swore I'd stay away from in future (portion control issues). So I've chucked the rest of the bag in the bin . Problem solved.

I do feel quite bloated after Christmas - I didn't go 'off plan' particularly, but I did treat myself to some gluten free crackers to go with the delicious cheeses and pate, and I wasn't shy of indulging in the odd drop or three of red wine :blush:. I imagine I'll have put on a few lbs, but am not going to worry about it. Next weigh in will be around Easter, so there's plenty of time to get it off again!

I'll be glad to get back to normal food and drink habits, get back to the gym, and get back into ketosis. I think, once I'm back at work on Tuesday and into a routine again, it'll get a lot easier.

It's steamed haddock and cauliflower cheese for dinner - I'm sure that'll hit the spot .

Today is starting off ok so far. I usually do well with breakfast. We will see how the day unfolds, may be white knuckling today.

happy to see our numbers growing...it really helps to have support and the more of us there are, the more support there will be...i have learned so many things from you guys over these past 9 months and i'm looking forward to learning from all my new friends here too...

jana, your 9 miles over 2 days equals my running distance over 20 years :blush: nice work...what were you baking?...

clanger, great to have you and your peculiar sense of humor back with us...it helps my peculiar sense of humor to blend in a little more i felt bloated over the holidays too...i feel a lot less bloated after a few good days - i have learned that is all it usually takes...btw, you can stalk me anytime...

marilee, very proud of you - three days is a great accomplishment - for me, the first 3 days are always the toughest!...keep up the great work...

hey dabba, and no worries about the particular plan you are using...we are all on different types of plans and congregate here for support and understanding (and in my case, to be rescued a few times ) happy to have you with us!

vicki, vicki, vicki...way to go making it through your first meal - all we can do is approach this one meal and snack at a time...now i get it: if you keep your knuckles white enough, you won't be able to grasp food - great strategy

I've been reading this thread and I'd love to join you all. I've been on so many threads but they seem to fade away fast. And by sounds of this thread you've be at it together for quit awhile. I did Atkins back in 2004 and got to goal for 4 years and then started to gain back alot of the weight. Now I've been really stuggling to get the weight off again. But it's been real slow and alot of setbacks along the way. So for the 3 month blitz 6 lbs. More would be nice.

tony I see your from the New England are too. I'm in Massachusetts. Nice to see a neighbor.
