Thanks for the oil pulling references, Tony...but...

too much work for this lazy old troll. I started working here 30 years ago, when I was at 215 lbs-my highest to date. I am 5'6" by Earth measurements. How I would love to get down to 215, one step in the right direction. It will happen. FF

today:

ff, you made it to work!...good for you...don't stress out, man...we need you to be the voice of calm around here...
btw, i can't take credit for referring you to the oil-pulling links - i had no idea what it was until last night when i read up on it...i'd be interested to hear from anyone who has tried it...i can't wrap my head around why swishing oil in your mouth would draw out toxins, any more than swishing mouthwash would...i'm open-minded to learn about it, though...

hey farmgirl - ever see a fat hare, or a tortoise for that matter?...

I had an appt. with a homeopath and it was suggested that I look at following a blood type diet. My blood type is A and according to the information about blood type diets, I should follow a primarily vegetarian diet. My main protein source would be beans and could be soy, but the homeopath said to stay away from soy of all kinds. Grains would be added back in. I am not sure about this. I will check to see if there is a low carb vegetarian plan of some sort.

Hey all,
Workin' from home today because of the snowstorm! Shoveled deck, boat cover, boat shed, walked dogs...will repeat in another hour or so!!!

Breakfast was egg beaters scramble with spinach, red pepper, mushrooms and zuccini, garnished with goat cheese. Nice reward for all the hard work.

Hubby brought home a homemade bread from a coworker...I did the x-cross at it with my two index fingers... I didn't even open it up. I trudged through the snow this morning and gave it to a neighbor with big-appetite teenage boys, could NOT have this under the same roof as me!

The oil pulling reads interesting...so if you do OP, and then do a ACV, can you then have some lettuce so that you end up having a salad?

amen, nancy...i'd have to get that bread out of the house too!...btw, too funny about the oil and acv salad :-)

vicki, i think i'm blood type "A" too - but there's no way i'd survive as a vegetarian - okay, maybe i could survive, i just wouldn't want to...just teasing, for any of you vegetarians out there ;-) i gotta look into that blood-type diet stuff - i love reading all these different theories...

Thanks Tony!
We lived for about 20 years in Huntsville, Alabama before moving back to help our mothers. Loved the south and all the grandkids were born in Birmingham. Exciting that you are in the music business too.

We have 15 inches so far in Hinsdale. Have just spent 2 hours shoveling Mom's drive in Vermont. Will have to do it again in a couple of hours. Good exercise I keep telling myself.

free food in the cafeteria!!!

but nothing for lil ol FF. so, i got 2 sandwiches at our little coffee bar (Java Coast). 1st thing I did was toss the roll and slaw. the orange slice i am giving to my friend & colleague Cleopatra. The roast beef & cheese with romaine slices, and 2 molecule thin tomato slices with mustard hit the spot. i will not need the 2nd sandwich. i will leave it in the fridge here for bkst.(it will give me a good reason to get out of bed, tomorrow. actually, i am still hungry, but not intolerably so. I'll live. FF

abigale, i love the south too - can't get enough fried catfish when i'm down there...although, with all the running around i do when i'm in nashville, i actually come back a few pounds lighter almost every time...

Man, you guys are getting socked. I shoveled maybe 6" yesterday and took me 15 minutes (I have a single-wide driveway). However, wind picked up and blew snow in and of course the snow plow went by and loaded the end of the drive. So, this morning, shoveled for 15 minutes again.

I read up on oil pulling (thanks for the links), and I have to say that it sounds somewhat gross.

I think I can hear the distant rumbling of your tummy from here . C25K is the Couch to 5K programme - an interval training thing you can put on your ipod which is supposed to get you running 5k in 9 weeks.

You guys are really having a hard time of it shovelling snow lately!

I was at a conference today, where normally the lunches consist of droopy, stale sandwiches and unrecognisable bits of processed animal deep fried in batter. To my surprise, today there was a lovely selection of cold meats, salad, and hot chicken breast in cream and mushroom sauce ! And to top it off, there was a ... cheese board for desert (they're happy tears ). It was bliss !

I felt like setting the fire alarm off to cause a diversion so I could scoop it all into my laptop bag and take it home .

I've done oil pulling before over like a two month time period ( I used coconut oil.) Your mouth feels incrediblily clean afterwards and it does whiten your teeth. From the research I've done, it's possible it just might be the swishing of your own saliva that has the positive benefits as I guess there are tons of properties to our saliva that are helpful to the body, but alot of ancient cultures (india--china, etc.) did this to clean the mouth and for gum health. I fell out of doing it but do think it has something to it....

Vicki, there is now way in hades I could be a vegetarian! I'm interested to see what you decide to do.

Hi everybody! I'm having a great time off from work.

Weighed in this morning - no loss, but no gain so I'm happy. I've lost so much so fast, my body is probably stabilizing and getting down to a more steady, but slower weight loss mode. The plan I'm on says women lose an average of 1/2 pound a day. That is great in my book

I am so desperate to get below 300 - I haven't been below that number is over 5 years. I got close (305) and sabotaged myself so for mental reasons, as well as physical, I really want to pust into Twoterville!!!! And then on to Onederland!!!!

Checking out for the evening - good night and sweet dreams!

Well was snowed in yesterday, and got tons of exercise shoveling all day. We got over 2 feet. But us so beautiful and fluffy. Scale is moving down by the ounces, but thats fine with me.

Vicki that blood type diet sounds interesting, I'm not sure of my blood type but I could definately be a vegitarian, meat is the last thing I eat on my plate.

welcome, artemis!...happy to have you with us...every voice, every point of view, every opportunity to help and be helped, makes all of us stronger...

there are no "newbies" in this thread - all you gotta do is post once and you're one of us...
:-)

i love all meat, but have eaten less red meat during these blitzes...i probably eat 75% chicken, 15% red meat and 10% fish...i eat a lot of veggies and a little fruit...i haven't eaten a whole slice of bread since march, only an occasional mouthful of potato or rice...almost no sugar...my weakness is salty snacks and that has made up 90% of the carbs i have eaten...

one big benefit of theses blitzes for me is that my bad days are not that bad anymore - in fact, they would represent very good days in my past life :-) and that i am no longer afraid of gaining back the weight i've lost - i am as sure as i can be, that that won't happen - the big challenge left for me is losing these next 30+ pounds...that will be tough, but with your help, i'm gonna get it done!...

wow, misty - two feet!!!...we got a lot, but not THAT much...

Blood Type O eat meat mainly.

Blood Type A vegetarian, that is what I am. Although, upon closer inspection, it isn't totally vegetarian. You can have chicken, cornish hens, turkey, and several kinds of fish and seafood. Dairy is pretty much out but they recommend a ton of grains. Of course beans and tofu are a staple as well. But, the homeopath said to stay away from soy. Which is ok with me, since I am not fond of tofu and have had soy as nuts and milk of which I can easily stay away from.

Good morning! Down another pound today - happy dance, happy dance!

Tony - we are with you for the next 30 as much as you are with us for whatever our goals are.

Type 0 is me - cave man diet works great!!!!

Today's chore is to clean out the masterbedroom closet - scads of clothes I thought I'd get into that are now 20 years old! I confess! Time to go to the Goodwill and hopefully bless someone who needs something to wear. When the time comes, I'd like new clothes. My girlfriend is coming over to see if she can use anything.

I am going to feel SO GOOD when that job is done - "things" sure can burden us down, IMHO!

I'll check in later - stay strong

1 lb closer to goal.

down to 304.8 from 372.8 or 68 lbs. i am going to attempt more phys activity in the next 7 days. i will be reasonably conservative, but not abstinent in my consumption of diet soda. Yesterday, before i went upstairs after work, i made a snow-Ferenghi. He showed a profit!!! There is no justice in this universe. FF

Woot, glad to see the scales shifting again, FF!

I think I made quite a good choice this morning. Thursday is one of my 'gym days', but I was running about an hour late this morning - I could either skip the gym and get into work on time, or go to the gym, and get to work an hour or so later.

Rather than be my usual lazy arsed self and skip the exercise, I actually went to the gym and stayed late at work. Good for me ! Boy was it a difficult workout for some reason though!

Thanks for the warm welcome! As for goals, I'd like to get back down to my lowest weight. About 7-8 years ago I lost 125 lbs. Since then my weight has fluctuated a bit due to an illness which causes my insulin to act out of control, but I have kept most of it off. When I follow a strict low carb diet it seems to help and I lose weight to boot! I have done this off and on over the years but I just recently started an induction level on the Jan 9 and have lost 4 lbs so far. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Ya, gotta admire a woman with a weapon
I went vegetarian for awhile too, thought it might help with some of my symptoms but only made matters worse because I got really anemic. So if anyone goes vegetarian it's important to get iron elsewhere.

wow, awesome job guys!...

ff, another step toward twoterville!...good for you, brother!...

farmgirl, wowee!!!...ummmm...i hate to question your math, but i think 197 lbs. minus 6.5 lbs. = 190.5...

marilee, i'm stickin' with you guys til we are all at goal!...good luck with the closets...

vicki, i'm type A as well, and as long as i can eat chicken and fish, i'm fine!...whew!...

had a pretty good day yesterday and having a good one today so far...but i may start looking like a hard-boiled egg soon...been eating them for breakfast pretty consistently and even sometimes for lunch - they are so easy and nutritious...of course, my cholesterol is probably 700 by now!...

weighed in at 210 today - must have shed a couple lbs. of water since yesterday...official weigh-in is tomorrow and my goal for the week was 208, before i revised it, but the competitive part of me still is shooting for a loss, so i am gonna almost fast for the rest of the night and see where that leaves me tomorrow...

so much for accepting the 210-215 guy!...
