Ugghh--Poor Tony, it has to be mostly water! Just eat lower carb (I say go for the steak and skip the side dishes) and it will drop back off...

I didn't go off plan this weekend, had house guests for a couple nights and a small party but I did drink some red wine and I'm up 2lbs. I'm going to cut the drinking and just eat mostly meat today and hope it's gone tomorrow...

Tony, sounds like water retention to me, too! You'll be fine.

Re allegies in AZ "they" say that if you have allergies when you move here, they will go away. If you don't have allergies when you move here you will get them. I can proove that point!

Last day of loading - strict regimen starts tomorrow - can't wait. I'm sick of all this food!

Tony, it is not YOUR metabolism per se.

it is the nature of low carb plans. Dr. Atkins warned us about it in his first book in 1972. He said that a carby indulgence (i am paraphrasing)will have dramatic & unpleasant manifestations on the scale. You can actually see a 5 lb gain from 1 piece of cake. When I have had an indulgence (planned or unplanned), there was always "the weeping and wailing & gnashing of teeth" on weigh-in day. So, enjoy the endulgence, but be prepared to pay the piper. He exacts a high price. They took the tables and chairs away at THE BAKERY to make room for the Easter displays. I took a few portions of things home. We shall see how disciplined I am this week. I took 2 individual portions of the pistachio gelato (2.6 gr each), 1 piece of marble cake (6 gr), 1 piece of cheesecake (1/6 of a 7" cake)6 grams,& 1 tiramisu (3 gr). I had 1 gelato when I got home. As of this moment, my total net carbs for the day are 6 which incl the garnish for my mid-day burgers. So, I shall allow myself a tiramisu with my coffee (i had no coffee yet, today). The items which are 6 carbs, I shall make into 2 portions. That is the plan. Let us hope I stick with it. I took my condiments on the side, reading the labels 1st. the last ingredient in the Grey Poupon packet was SUGAR. so, i put on 1/16th of a packet total for both burgers. I am certain they will find a way to add carbs to plain reservoir water. FF

thanks for the support, guys...i'm coming to terms with this quick gain...i rejoiced in the quick losses, and i guess i deserve the gain too...it is what it is, and as they say, this too shall pass... :-)

jenny, i took your advice - steak, no sides...i'm proud of you for sticking to plan while entertaining - that's always tough for me...

marilee, i wish i was sick of food...lol...good luck tomorrow!...

ff, enjoy the LC bakery spoils...you don't get to indulge in them very often...and thanks for the dose of reality on my indulgence...i hope this is the week you get to 2dorland, bro...

IF there were tables at THE BAKERY....

I would have sat down for a coffee, a gelato,& a cookie (total 4.1 net carbs). That decision was made just before i opened the door. But there were none. So, I bought a few things, and put myself to the test. I did not pass the test. I, in the process, also broke curfew. All I have left is the cheesecake (6 gr), which will stay there till after weigh-in on Thursday. If I so much look in its direction, out it goes!!! The total damage, carb wise is 5 gr, as i totalled 25 gr for the day. A few days on vlc...i.e no lc bread, hc/wc, 1 salad OR veggie through Thursday lunch. That should fix it.It seems I am still not ready to leave such things in the house. A most significant reason for these Blitzes is accountability, which is why i put my cards on the table in such exhaustive detail. But then, we must learn from the experience, and create strategies to prevent a recurrence. Well, the strategy for me,at this juncture, is to continue to keep that stuff at work. When i retire, I will have to create a new strategy. FF

FF - sounds like a most wonderful, and well-deserved indulgence! SO what the hey. You are definitely getting "in the zone" with your lc resolve and food planning. You are soooo close to the Twoderland!!! Keep at it!

Tony - aw that $#@*s! Just work at it this week with the water and lc! It is amazing how just a small stray "off the reservation" can have such an impact.

Marilee, you'll get back in the groove, I just know it!

Sooo. I'm down another 1lb......oh baby! Even after Indian on Sat. night. This is an 8-lb month so far for me!

Everyone, have a good day and make good food choices!!
Nancy

ff, i agree wholeheartedly about the accountability in these blitzes...it's hard to face the reality of what we do sometimes, but when you have to write it down for everyone to see, it is a deterrent...

nancy, congrats on another pound!...that is so great - 8 lbs. in a month is awesome - actually it's where i was until friday night!...lol...

i'm afraid it's gonna take me weeks to get back to where i was a few days ago...if that isn't an incentive not to stray again, i don't know what is...

i am thinking that i've spent the last year getting my body used to running on an entirely different fuel, and i shouldn't be surprised when it sputters after i try to feed it junk...my car wouldn't run on honey, would it?... :-)

pity, Tony, that we cannot get cars to run on carbs.

it would be much cheaper than petrol. Perhaps we could get 100 miles to the gallon of liquified Cap'n Crunch!!! (outside of city traffic) FF

Wow! I sure added alot of poundage, incuding the "loading days". I had gained up to 312 with being sick, etc., but I put on another 4 with loading - I'm glad it wasn't more.

Today is day one of the 500 calories. That's the reason we load - to make the first week easier......Should be quite easy for me!

vicki, it would have been a dream, until i climbed on the scale!...

marilee, i LOVE your attitude...nothing you can do about getting sick...you're adhering to your plan and you will get the results you deserve...i'm betting you get to twoterville during blitz V, girl!...

well, i'm holding at 207 this morning, so i don't think it's fluid...i think ff is right - a small slip can lead to a big gain - at least for me - and that's pretty sobering

but there are no alternatives, as i see it...i am not ever going backwards, so i've gotta buckle down with this new knowledge and lose the 5 lbs. i gained this weekend as soon as possible...

hope everyone is having a great day...mine so far:
b: hb egg
l: 15 pistachios
s: cheese stick
d: salad w/ chicken salad

If I were eating cold cereal, my favorites are Cheerios and wheat Chex (Multi-grain Chex is good, too, but hard to find).

For the sugary ones, I like Sugar Smacks! Yummy!!!!!

I made a meatloaf last week, and instead of using bread crumbs to help bind it together, I used 1/2 C crushed up fiber cereal. Didn't tell anyone. Tasted great!

I used to love cereal on top of ice cream..

But you have to read the labels these days, sheesh! What a lot of carbage in them!

Hi everyone....did you miss me??

What a weekend....we were busy moving.....I HATE moving! But we got it all done, and we're even unpacked....made for a looooong tiring weekend. I'm sad to say that my eating habits pretty much sucked...nothing but fast food and restaurants for nearly 3 days. I'm afraid to get on the scale tomorrow.
Oh well...it is what it is and honestly it could have been much worse!!!! Whatever the damage is, I will reverse it. Tonight I'm going to boil up a bunch of eggs and do a couple of days of egg fasting to get back on track.

Glad to see everyone is gearing up for a great week.

Marilee I have no doubt that being back on your drops you'll drop that weight ASAP!

Tony & FF, it's hard to see the damage that even 1 small cheat can cause....and it's harder still to NEVER cheat!! I've just chosen to realize that this is a lifetime journey and committment .....it's not a sprint. If we keep getting back up on the wagon we WILL reach our destinations.

Nancy, way to go!!!! That's so awesome that you're down another pound...you are definitely carrying our little group this month!!!!

Hi Vicki, How are you???

i just submitted an e-mail to DREAMFIELDS.

I suggested that they need not limit themselves to pasta. Why not expand to all sorts of starchy delights...such as MATZOH??? I know many, many non-Jewish folks who love matzoh too. My matzoh brei is the best there is. I would be able to enjoy it again as a low carb treat. Well, i believe it shows promise, and profit potential. I would certainly be entitled to a piece of the action. FF

that curfew was a superb idea!!!

& like a wormwhole in space, will get me to goal much sooner, than zero to low carb nibbling all through the night. I owe u one. What a difference a day makes. Sunday evening i was spinning out of control. Last night, although I knew the cheesecake was there, it did not tempt me in the least. After 9pm i was at the computer, with a big bottle of ice water at my side. I made some killer pork chops last night. Instead of the usual marinara sauce & mozzarrella cheese, i made a barbecue sauce (my troll classic)from WF bbq sauce (the original-delicious, but tame)to which I added chinese mustard. Smooshed it together (the sauce to mustard ratio was 3:2-eyeballing it). I then, applied it to both sides of the chops (3 boneless center cut beauties-1.36 lbs)when it was near finished cooking. Oh...I forgot to add butter to the pan. Oh well, some other time. They were soft like butter. I had some sauted veggies on the side. the 2nd 1/2 of the small can of mushrooms from Sat. to which i diced up 1/2 plum tomato and 2 stalks of celery (cut into bite size pieces. It is a great way to bring life to veggies past their prime. That celery went from flaccid to feral. I only ate 3 halves of the pork chops, the other 3 halves i took to work. time to give the tuna a day off. FF

so glad, Ladyboss, that the tribulations of moving are over.

I do not think i would move, even if i had all the money in the universe. it is such a bother. Perhaps, I would leave everything in my current abode as is, and just buy another home. Going around looking for cartons, and packing and wrapping anything likely to break... No, not anymore. FF

Hi Tammy, YUP, you were missed! Moving $@*#s!!! Hope you like your new place, and moving is a great way to jettison unwanted items. How nice to have a break from the WOE with the restaurant meals...what the heck, just call it "loading", and now you'll get back on the wagon!

FF, nice cooking job. I'm doing pork chops & sauteed cabbage tonight. I love matzoh and would appreciate an LC version bigtime.

Hope to walk at lunch time and then get to gym after work.

I am wearing size 16 slacks today FINALLY. (from 20s, 20Ws, 18s...) They zip up and I can breathe so today is a woo-hoo day. I'll be happy to swim in 14s eventually.

Hello everyone else, and have a great Tuesday! Try to stay the course!

ff, i'm with ya on the curfew...

it has made a huge difference for me too, especially in the way i feel...i actually feel less deprived because except for eliminating bad carbs, i can have a fairly normal dinner and feel quite satisfied with what i eat during the 1 1/2 to 2-hour window i usually have before curfew...

i am amazed at how easily i have adapted to not eating after 9 - i don't even miss it, while before i imposed it, i was grazing like i was hungry all night...

the scale is still reading 207, so i did gain a solid 5 lbs. with my cheating, but the upward march seems to be over...and i've drawn a line in the sand at 207...

btw, ff, thanks for sharing the recipe on the pork chops - i'm gonna try that...i love 'em, but my kids are only so-so on pork, so i may just make it for me one of these nights...

nancy, congrats on the new, smaller pants!...hope they're a little tight - well, ya know - i AM a guy, after all... ;-)

it works with any critter, Tony8..even offworld ones.

i look for the easiest way out, especially in that tiny kitchen. Tonight, finally i am doing the oven fried drumsticks. There are 14 of them, so i will divide them into 3 meals. In the egg mixture, i put in all my spices. Then in the egg bath they go, and then into the PPRs (pulverized pork rinds). I put them in the oven at 350, covered. After about an hour, i take the cover off, to let them crisp for 30-45 minutes. then its YUMMO time. FF
