Morning kids!

Well day 1 of the fatfast is down and day 2 has begun. I slept GREAT and woke up feeling fabulous...not hungry in the least....AND....I'm down nearly 3 full pounds!!!!!! I know that some of that is bound to be water weight and I fully expect some of the weight I lose in the next few days to come back....but wow was that encouraging to see on the scale! And honestly it was much easier than I expected.....hopefully that holds true today as well.

Lizzie buttered coffee and tea is divine and the fat from the butter helps keep me full for hours!! Todays menu will be much like yesterdays, so that makes life easy.

Marilee it is BEAUTIFUL this morning isn't it?!?!?! It's definitely our time of year!!

Tony and FF thanks for the encouragement and support. I really appreciate it, I hate when someone gets all excited about something they feel they need to try and then others feel they have to criticize it or reprove them.....that's one of the things I LOOOVE about you guys, everyone here is so supportive and kind.....I really love you guys!

Well gotta run, busy day today....I'll check back in later.

Happy Thursday!

Tammy, good luck on the fatfast, I hope you have success! How is your friend Rachel?

Slimlizzie, were those multigrain gluten free crackers from Crunchmaster? If so, I also succumbed to the madness a few weeks back. OMG. I absolutely can NOT have these in the house! They are killer. Oh and with butter, to die for.

Ah Sedona, I went there years ago, what a great place! I heard Sedona was named after the post office manager's daughter way back when...otherwise, it would have been named Schnebley....

Marileee- you're killing us northerners with the nice Phoenix weather reports, sheesh!!!! Glad you melted off a pound!

I'm doing easy-to-eat food due to my gum surgery on Tues. Had 2 HB eggs/mayo or brekkie, and lunch is my LC chicken soup with the pieces really small. Same for dinner for next few days. Workplace Biggest Loser weigh-in is tomorrow. Can't do any major exercise til Sunday..

Hubby has lost 20 lbs on his workplace "Chuboff". So he's at 220 and wants to get to 210 now.

I now have an appointment on 3/21 with an ear/nose/throat specialist (Exeter Hospital) for the thyroid nodules that were seen on the ultrasound. Wish me luck. Googled the doc's credentials, seems excellent in his field.

Have a good "on plan" day everyone!

Nancy

Hi Nancy!

Good luck on the weigh-in!

Actually, Sedona was named after his wife but what the hey

We Phoenicians can do weather bragging now, but when it's summer you won't hear anything pleasant coming from our lips

Ouch! Gum surgery! for that and your nodules
Take care of yourself!

Hi Marilee,

I sit corrected on the wife vs. daughter! Beats Schnebley at any rate.

Yeah, in the summer when it's 120 where you are, it'll be 80s here and we can drive 30 minutes to the Atlantic ocean and enjoy the breeze and a nice big lobster roll from the famous Beach Plum restaurant, ahhhhhhh......

Thanks for your good thoughts and prayers! Cross each bridge as it comes.

Hi, all! I love jicama. My fave use of it is to grate it in slaws or cut it into straws for a raw side with summer dishes. Nice crunch.

My exciting find was a salsa that not only doesn't have sugar or fillers but is low in sodium. Most of them are so salty they burn my mouth, but this one is perfect. I just put some over my {wait for it...} ....brussel sprouts. Delicious. I promise.

We had flooding this morning and are expecting snow tonight, but the afternoon is sunny. So I'm outta here for the great outdoors. Happy blitzing, people!

LC Shadows--Good for you on your salsa find. I have to say eating low carb certainly makes grocery shopping an interesting experience--I'm always reading labels, I feel like a detective. Mostly I stick to the whole foods, but it's nice not to have to fix something for yourself once in a while.

I had a little slip up last night and the scale didn't move today--but I'm going to eat clean and drink water. I did walk yesterday so been doing well with my exercise.

Good Luck on your weigh in Tony!

i managed to get 4 meals from 1 large chef salad.

the 4th will be tomorrow's bkfst. Tony, best of luck on tomorrow's weigh-in. I think tonight is cheeseburgers with a veggie saute (maybe i will do the jicama). In any event, no eating after 9 pm. FF

btw, i have eaten very very lightly so far today and i only have a little over an hour before i hit my curfew...

b: small slice of pork roast
l: small serving of broccoli
s: hb egg
d: burger?

i may even have to skip the burger as i have to pick up a friend at the bus station in a few minutes and may hit curfew before i get back...if that doesn't get me to 206 by tomorrow, i'll be shocked!...i don't think i've eaten 300 calories today!... :-)

Tony, way to go...you're definitely gonna hit that 206 marker tomorrow!!!

FF you rock, great job with the loss.....your steady consistency is so inspiring!!

Marilee, when does Vicki get in????

Well day 2 of the fatfast is nearly done and I feel FABULOUS!!!

I have had great energy all day and when I do eat (nibble is more like it) the fat content really helps me stay full.....it's almost surprising. I can see why they do not recommend doing it long term, as I do miss protein (the thought of a nice juicy steak right now foremost in my mind ) But honestly it's been much easier than I anticipated. I definitely see this as a great tool to break through a stall or plateau. It's truly a nice alternative to help break things up.

I'm at 617 calories so far today (it's only 6 pm here) and 87% fat, so I need to get another 400 high fat calories in today....sounds downright decadent doesn't it?

How's everyone else's day been?

tammy, that sounds great...next time i hit a stall, i'm gonna be trying that...between the two of us, we won't eat 1500 calories today!...

well, i had 10 minutes before curfew when i got home, so i broiled the burgers for everyone else and didn't have time to eat one myself :-( so i had a bowl of fiber one cereal with blueberries and 1% milk...about 250 calories...that's it til morning!...

if that scale doesn't read 206 tomorrow, you'll be able to hear me crying from arizona!

Tony8..i offered sacrifices to the SCALE GOD for you.

I hope he comes through for u and for all of us. I had a potpouri last night. I had one thin slice of muenster cheese. i put back the other two. too much salt in it this time. I then had .51 piece of smoked white fish (much less salty in taste than the cheese). of course w/o the skin and gristle, it was probably .45 lbs. i had 3/4 of a large order of chinese ribs, and 1/2 the house special soup.I was just too tired to stand at the stove.I did not use up my WW daily points. i wonder how long a jicama can stay in the fridge before it succumbs. I was in bed at 8pm, and must have drifted off before 9pm. That is 3 days curfew by default. And that is the best portion control strategy by far. Well the weather looks great for Monday's sojourn to Atlantic City. I have my walkman, batteries, a good selection of audio cassettes for a good amount of walking. There are benches on the boardwalk, to ease the foot when it hurts too much. I have 6 hours in AC. 15 minutes for gambling, 1 hr for lunch, and the rest walking. Say prayers for my feet. I am going for the burn.It will be worth the pain if it will get me to 2-dorland. FF

don't forget to turn around!

ff, you can walk a looooong way in 4 hours 45 minutes... :-p thanks for the offering...i'll weigh in soon and let you know if all the effort paid off this week...btw, hope you don't sleep through the alarm this time!...

this curfew thing has been a life saver for me...ff is right - the best portion control vehicle i've found during all these blitzes, but i don't think i would have accepted it early on...it would have felt like an unnecessary restriction...but i ABSOLUTELY proved to myself that i NEEDED it...and i have no problem with it right now...i may lift it at some point, or i may follow it permanently as part of a healthy woe, and just make exceptions here and there...as it is, i am only committed to it 5 days a week and i haven't used those "free" days yet...

see ya in a bit!

I am trying to wrap my head around the time change this weekend.

Went out to eat and my burger turned my stomach. Just a flat frozen preformed patty that was thrown on the grill. Brown on the outside and red and runny on the inside. It didn't even look like the Black and Bleu Burger I normally order yet the waitress swears it was. No bleu cheese was on the burger, but, there was a cup of bleu cheese dressing on the side. I sent it back.

Since becoming more aware of where my food comes from, I would rather cook at home where I have control over what goes into my body.

Congrats FF on the loss!!! Way to go! Sounds like a pleasant trip to AC is in store. Love that boardwalk....

Know what you mean, Vicki...I'd rather cook at home now too! We stick with our local rotation, and I know what each place does best for me and I don't waver.

Hope you have some good news Tony!

Marilee, Tammy & Vicki: you gals have a great visit! How cool you Blitzers are getting together!

Well, I stayed the same on the work scale...I haven't been able to exercise since Tuesday (no cardio for 5-7 days) and I'm blaming the NSAID pain meds and antibiotics (heavy course right now). The LC chicken soup was made with low fat-low sodium broth so go figure!

Ah yes, the time change this weekend!

Morning all!!

Day 3 of the fat fast and I still feel fabulous!! Down another pound today, so 4 pounds so far. I really want to have a normal LC weekend so I think I'llmake today the final day of this round of fat fasting for now. It has been far easier than I anticipated, and I think next time I do it I'll try and shoot for 5 full days.....right now though I can promise you that a nice thich juicy steak is in my weekend plans It's amazing how much I have missed meat!

Vicki you're going to LOVE it here....you picked a great time to come visit!

Morning!

Vicki, it's only an hour time difference

I'm still 1 pound over my window, but I've decided not to worry about it. My body goes there very easily so I'm not going to fight it, as long as I don't go over that weight. I don't need the scale stress, because that causes other issues. Don't get me wrong - I'm still weighing everyday and monitoring, but I'm going to stop freaking out if I'm one pound over my window.

I took the day off to get some house cleaning done in preparation for Vicki's visit. My knee has been pretty bad the past couple of days so I can't get everything done in one day. I have a feeling that shot the doctor gave me has worn off already and I can't get another one until the end of May.

Tomorrow is my tax appointment. Time to "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's....." I hope Uncle Sam and the State of Arizona are kind to me. I did have a new AC/Heat pump unit installed so I qualify for that rebate, which should help. I need to start saving $ big time for the surgery. Insurance won't cover everything

Sorry for blathering on....I better get going.

TTYL

Tony - what did the scale say????? Are we doing the victory dance?

well, guys, no victory dance for me today...that stubborn scale read 207 - a 1 lb. drop, but not the two pounds i needed...that will put much more stress on my ability to hit 1derland by april 7th, but i'm not giving up AT ALL...

the goal this week will be 205 - i think i will do damage if i shoot for more than 2 lbs. a week, so i'm gonna resist the temptation to be unrealistic :-)

truth be told, i think i had 206 in my grasp until i went out for barbecue on wednesday - even my spartan menu yesterday couldn't compensate for the feast i had the day before...it's great to face reality and know we have the power to achieve our goals if we want them badly enough...obviously, i wanted barbecue more than 206 this week, so don't shed any tears for me kids - i got what i deserve...

tomorrow is my birthday and i'll have amnesty for the day, but i'll try not to abuse it...

the 207 result today, matches my lowest official weigh-in at any time in almost 20 years - i hit that i believe in january for one or two weeks (actually saw 206 for one unofficial day!) so i am trying to feel good about that...my next official lb. lost will be virgin territory and that's great...i also feel sooo good right now - slimmer, fitter and just better than i have in the last year and that's what this is all about, right?...and i have stuck to my exercise regimen religiously...

funny story: my wife is a teacher and sunday she dislocated her knee, but went in to work this week anyway...well, yesterday her good knee gave out from overcompensating, and i had to pick her up at school...when i got there, i asked a woman i recognized if my wife was there and she asked "who's your wife?"...another teacher said, "that's sue's husband", and the woman said "oh, wow, you've lost a lot of weight...you look great"... :-) by the way, we went to the doc and my wife is fine - just needs a little rest and then some exercise...

vicki, marilee will make you eat well while you're there!...

tammy, congrats on your results - that is awesome, girl!

marilee, i wouldn't stress over the pound - our bodies release what they want to release and you're eating well, so good things are gonna happen!...

nancy, as soon as your body feels better, i'm betting you drop big time...slow and steady wins the race...

tony, u still have 27 days.

even if u do not make it to 1 derland, it is not the end of the world. u WILL get there. Have your measurements changed? are u feeling better since u started? i am sure the answer is yes. u are probablt closer to goal than u realize. and the closer to goal, the harder it becomes to drop the lbs. i have 170 lbs to lose, and i am struggling to get below 300 hundred. u must put this in perspective. It is a foregone conclusion that i am not going to Atlantic City anytime soon. The Bengay is not working, and the pain behind the right knee is crippling me. I must get to the bank tomorrow. Otherwise, i will be spending all my time thru Tuesday at home. Have a great weekend, all FF

Tony you're doing so great!!! A very wise man said earlier "i wouldn't stress over the pound - our bodies release what they want to release and you're eating well, so good things are gonna happen!..." I think he was right!

Well I think I'm off the fat fast today. My wonderful husband asked me out to a late breakfast and I can sooner resist chocolate than I can resist that man!!! I knew I could could totally stay ultra low carb by having steak and eggs, but not within my fat fast window of 85 - 90% fat. That's ok though because I played with my menu in ****** and think I can still get to at least 73% fat for the day and stay within 1000 calories, so that's not too bad... and I've gotta tell you....that steak was SOOOOO GOOD....

It is 50 degrees here and my son and I took a walk. A bit windy but nice for Iowa. I can't wait to be in sunny AZ tomorrow.

Tony, have a great day tomorrow too. Don't celebrate too hard.
