marilee, my kids are 26(b), 24(b), 22(g), 20-in a few weeks(g), and 15(b)...they are all good kids, thank goodness...they are also all very athletic and fit and are proud of me for what i'm doing :-)

tammy, congrats on losing another pound!...that is awesome!...they all add up, kid...

nancy, wow, that sounds like quite a dinner...where'd you go for chinese?...is it good?...

well, i climbed on the scale today and it read "208"...yea!...so i hit my goal for the week and took my first weekly 2-lb. step toward 1derland...the goal for this coming friday is 206...i can't afford to stall in any week, or i will almost certainly not get to 199 by my april 7th deadline...

i am feeling strong and committed and the 9 p.m. curfew has been a huge contributing factor to my loss this week...for me, sometimes all it takes is a simple change...i'm hoping that my 2-month stall prepared my body for a solid period of losses...once i get to 1derland, i will feel much less pressure...i'm guessing it will take me another year to reach my ultimate goal...

let's rock this week, kids!!!!

God job Tammy, Nancy and Tony!

We're off to a good week.

I'm going to check out for the day (probably). I've been lazy today as the weather has been so nice and my knee acting up. I need to get some house work done, or Vicki will see how I really live!

i allowed myself 1 NON-portion controlled meal...

Sat evening. i had a pack of very thin pork chops -4(about which I had forgotten. I made the whole pack pizzaiolla style, but i only used 1/2 the cheese, and 1 T marinara sauce for each chop. On the side, i sauted 2 celery stalks, and 1/2 plum tomato. Those veggies really cook down in volume. Total net carbs for the whole meal was 5-6 grams. That saute pan is worth its weight in whatever metal(s) make it so heavy. Tonight, i am POPEILing a whole chicken. I think I might decide to make the NON-portion control meal once a week. i believe my body may get too used to smaller amounts, and go on strike. Better to keep it guessing. FF

morning, guys!...happy monday and another week of healthy eating! (among other things
:-)

ff, your pork chops sound delicious and i think your idea of one larger meal a week is a good one...i do think we have to keep our bodies guessing...

marilee, if you get a chance, i would love to learn more about the theory behind your plan's regimen...specifically, what is the theory of the different phases and changes within each phase?...i am finding the whole idea fascinating, and i'd like to understand it better...thanks... :-)

the 9 p.m. curfew is saving me, and after grazing until bedtime for a few months, i have no idea why i am accepting this change so easily...i have not even been tempted to eat after 9 p.m...reinforces my belief that soooo much of this is psychological...

i do not have room for a slip this month...i need a steady 2 lb. loss every week if i'm gonna hit my blitz and 1-year goal...i am FOCUSED!...

how's everyone else doing???...love you guys...

btw, shouldn't jenny be back by now?...and where is kbeth, clanger and all our other friends?...ff, have you heard from adam?...

Morning!

Another gorgeous day today!

Vicki, it's going to be 85 on Saturday and 82 on Sunday. You picked a great time to come visit.

Tony, there is so much information about hhcg and I don't want to bore others on the thread with it. I can PM you, or you can go to the HCG thread on this site. In a nut shell-the low cal/carb portion when you are doing drops is when your body eats a lot of your stored fat. If you don't do the drops and eat this way, your body will use muscles instead. The drops loosen up your fat so it is 'consumed' easily, curb your appetite, and other things. The next phase is no drops, but adding calories to maintain what you lost so it is a firm loss. That phase also gets your hormones aligned helps regulate your metabolism, etc. The last phase, which I'm on now, gradually adds healthy carbs to your diet to see how your body responds. We still need to maintain during this phase.

I get to start drops and the low cal/carb phase pretty soon so I can drop some more poundage. I think all of the phases help you keep the weight off after your through losing so you don't yo yo anymore. I'm learning a lot about my body.

Whew!!!!

How's everyone else doing.

Mornin' all.

Congrats Tony on the 2 lb loss, YAY!! Persistence pays off!

We now have 20 women on the workplace Biggest Loser, so that's $200 in the kitty!

I'm up 2 lbs ($@*&!) this morning....must be the remnants from the Chinese. Being pretty ticked off with that, I did 10 min on the treadmill before work, will walk at lunch, and will hit gym after work. Tomorrow is 8am oral surgery so I should be good and zonked all day. Making a LC chicken soup tonight to get me through the next few days.

The Chinese place was Orient Pearl on Rt 125 in Epping. Nice place. Packed due to local power outtage on Saturday. Come to think of it, last time we went...I put 2 lbs on but it came off that week so it's GOT to be the sodium...........will do a lot of water and green tea today.

5 kids, Tony...omg.

good strategy, Tony...the 9 pm food curfew. And it is working for you. March is still young. I do have confidence that u will reach 1derland by april 7. btw: what is the significance of April 7? FF

ff, thanks for the vote of confidence, brother - that means a lot to me...

the significance: you started blitz I on april 1st 2010, but i did not find you guys until april 7th - so that date will be my one year anniversary...it would be a huge accomplishment for me if i can break the 200 lb. barrier by then...and i will be very disappointed if i fail to hit that mark...i feel i've had plenty of time to lose the 46 lbs. that would reflect...that would also be a loss equivalent to almost 19% of my total body weight when i started...

yup, that curfew is working, as it attacks one of my big weaknesses...i hate placing restrictions on myself, but i keep proving over and over again that i need that short leash...i am so much less disciplined than i thought i was or wish i was :-)

having a good day so far:
b: approx. 4 oz. leftover baked chicken
l: cheese stick
s:?
d: either steak tips or a burger without the bun

i may try the 9 pm curfew myself Tony...

I had an add'l 1/4 chicken just after 9pm. (I was really hungry, though, even though I ate at 7 pm) I did not go over my daily WW totals for the day. Becoming a better cook may hold more perils for me. I still hold to very few ingredients. The critter, the veggie(or salad), spices, oils, and butter. That's all. I save the complicated stuff for holidays (if at all). FF

i'd be honored! :-)

ff, god knows i've implemented so many of your ideas!...lol...i really resisted imposing the curfew on myself, but i was stalled for too long and needed to do something...technically, it is in effect for sunday through thursday only, but i stuck to it on fri and sat last week...so far, it has been amazingly easy to adhere to...

i don't like to eat much during the day - usually only a few hundred calories - just enough to keep the hunger away...then i am hungrier at night when i am home around all the food...i don't usually get home early, so i make dinner around 7:30 or 8, and the curfew has shortened the window i have to eat and graze in to about 1-2 hours...so if i keep the menu healthy and on-plan and accept when the window closes, it has to help...

for instance, i had a couple of plates of food last night and then looked at the clock and it was 8:56, so i just stopped eating...a couple of weeks ago, i would have taken a break and then eaten a few more things and a few hundred more calories before bed...these extra calories were not necessary and contributing to my stall...i feel better in the mornings since i've done this too - i think the food is just better digested...

i thought i was eating late because i was hungry, but i'm beginning to think it's simply another couter-productive habit, and one i can live without, at least while trying to achieve my goal weight...i'd rather save the extra calories for something i REALLY want at some other time...anyway, so far it's working...

Good morning!

How is everyone today?

I guess I'm a little different. I like to equal out my calorie intake at each meal (dinner may be a little bit higher) that way I'm not starving and grazing at night. We all need to figure out what works for us because we are all different.

I'd better get to work - I'll pop in again later.

very difficult to stop, when the food is on the plate...

and right in front of you. i try to see to it, that only the right amount is in front of me. I will create the fiction that the guillotine is waiting for me at 9pm if i open the fridge door at that time. Great discipline, Tony. I am starting to feel some evidence that diet sodas are enhancing appetite in me. however, i am not giving up diet soda. I have already cut down. During the warm weather, i cut down even more. But i draw the line on abstention. For then, it becomes A DIET. FF

i was on my way to the cafeteria for the tilapia du jour when...

i made a detour to the cafe (which is called Java Corner). They had a nice salad, consisting of (predictably)mostly iceberg lettuce, bits of olive, tomato, red pepper, grated amer cheese and turkey. I used my own dressing. very refreshing. tonite, i am making my 1st foray into jicama. i will keep y'all posted. FF

I love jicama....it's great on salad, or used on a veggie tray with dip. Ugly things, but good!

i think that's a good point, ff and marilee - we cannot feel deprived if we're gonna stick to this over the long haul...i think i can safely say that after almost a year, these changes in my woe are real and permanent, but in order to keep losing and to get to a healthy weight, i do need to set stricter guidelines for myself than some of you might...

also, i need to feel like i can eat what i want when i want - i need to create the illusion that i have control - like the rules i am setting, i am setting freely and can change them at any time, which of course i can...this is so much about psychology for me, and i've failed every way you can fail in the past, and the difference is that this time i limit the damage to one snack or meal or day and then go back to plan...this time i am committed to the goal like never before...

if you asked me a year ago, i would have said something like "once i make up my mind to do something, that's it - i do it!"...how the mighty have fallen, because although that works in other areas of my life quite well, it doesn't work for me when it comes to food...

i know i have said this before, but i have learned so much about myself and my body over the past year and i have had to come to terms with my weaknesses...it was not easy for me to face the reality that i had an unhealthy relationship with food...being honest with myself for the first time has helped immensely...

i think you guys are all doing great - finding the things that work for you, tweaking them as necessary, and staying committed to the long term goal of better health...and the support we get here has been critical to keeping me on the horse, so GIDDYUP! :-)

One of the best parts of the journey is learning about our bodies....we are all doing that, that's for sure.

I like jicama too but the supplier (Melissa's) dips the darn things in wax. Since then, all of the jicama I have purchased are rotten on the inside.

Hey Everyone,
I'm back from my trip. I had a really nice time--it was very relaxing and I actually stayed mostly on plan up until the last five days or so. It all started with a sushi dinner (I ate the rice) and then I just kind of let up... In the past I wouldn't have lasted that long though. I did drink alchohol most days but stayed away from the mai tais and sweet drinks.
As it was I am up about 6lbs but I'm pretty sure I can get that off in the next two weeks, alot of it I think is water. I'm back firmly on plan today, yesterday was a little rough. Once carbs get into my system I start craving all kinds of foods and get a bit obssessed with eating. I feel so much better when I'm on plan so I just need to remember this.

Anyways, just wanted to check in--I have to go pick my daughter up from school right now but will write more later.

Jenny
