Gibby, after 30 days of following the current plan, I add in two non-flour starches per day. I expect those would be whole grains like brown rice, quinoa, millet, etc. and could include starchy veggies such as squash or sweet potatoes. I am awaiting the expanded guide in the mail for further explanation.

Tammy, how awful about your friend. She is in my prayers.

hey nancy, i'm so happy that you had a great response at the doc's office...it's a biggy when that happens, and really gives you validation...good luck on the blood work and try not to worry - the overwhelming majority of these things are nothing, but the waiting drives you nuts...

vicki, i think it's great that you have a structured plan that you are following - science has come a long way in helping us deal with nutrition and achieving a healthy weight...good for you!

ff, i like that you identified a problem area and came up with a strategy to deal with it...that is what i am trying to do as well...night eating has been my downfall and the biggest reason i am currently at the same weight i was on january 1st, BUT NOT FOR LONG!

holding steady at 210, i'm having my second great day in a row:
b: hb egg
l: handful of pistachios
s: ?
d: pork loin roast and veggies

another one of my problems has been that i got away from setting a weekly goal - don't know how that happened, but i'm gonna fix that too!...so, my goal for this friday's weigh-in is 208...since i'll be in nashvegas, i'll have to weigh in sunday morning...i'm gonna shoot for 2 lb. losses every week until i reach 1derland!...

Hey Tony, thanks for the good words. One step at a time. I know.....

Good idea of shooting for 2 lbs a week as a goal. So if you get 1, that's good too!

On the work front, the Biggest Loser Challenge commences this Friday with 14women and 10 men! The percentage lost will be posted on Fridays, and only one lady is doing the weigh-in-recording for everyone's privacy.
Guys are separate from the gals as far as the cash goes. Let the games begin!

Tammy.. you and your friend are in my prayers
Vicki.. I really enjoy quinoa, in the linguini form..(to be added later)
Gibby..yes you can add my 5 pounds
Nancy..my Doc said it was good for everyone to eat Gluten Free and for me I feel so much better when I do..but things are So expensive
Tony..a weekly goal sounds good to me..I am looking for 7 lbs. to be an even 170
ff.. night eating is the very hardest for me also

As for me I think I need to add a little more fat into my diet..my induction will end on the 7th and I will add more carbs.

Yea, we are officially at 19.7 pounds lost in February.

As I recall we had more people posting in January and that was one reason why our number was bigger.

Tammy-how is your friend?

Hi everyone,

What a busy day.....Hope everyone is doing well!!

Update on my friend Rachel, She survived the night and the doctor is very pleased. The swelling and internal bleeding on her brain have subsided, she was awake and responsive today. Her CAT scan and MRI came back normal and they are feeling very hopeful. The next 24 - 48 hours are still crucial, but all indications are good. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

I've done pretty good today on my eating, had a hard boiled egg for breakfast and Taco Salad for lunch, but caved and did have some frozen yogurt again. Dinner will be light or non-existant cause the yogurt filled me up!

hey guys,
leaving for nashville shortly, and wanted to say goodbye, at least for a bit...not sure how much computer time i'll have but i'll try to check in...

had a very good day yesterday and i'm feeling great heading into my trip...i'm actually loving the 9 p.m. curfew...there is no boubt it saved me at least 500 calories over the last couple of days combined and that alone should make a 1/2 lb. difference per week...

tammy, so happy to hear about rachel...tell her she has folks from all over the country pulling and praying for her :-)

nancy, good luck with the challenge at work...if you win, we'll celebrate at the village square...if you lose, we'll console you at the village square :-)

marilee, hope you have another great day today...you are rocking your plan, girl!

vicki, keep on keeping on!!!...you're doing great...

lizzie, we're all very proud of you!

ff, my brother, keep me posted on the portion control strategy...i'm following your lead in so many ways...

keep the faith all, and i'll be back soon...

Tony-we will miss your positive input and encouragement. Enjoy your trip, but hurry back!

FF-good luck on the scale. Hopefully, the diet gods will smile down on you today.

I got on the scale this morning and I'm 2 ounces over my 2 pound window. I am opting for a P3 day instead of a correction day, as it may be water weight. Here is what I'm having today:

B-2 eggs and bacon; coffee with hwc
S-1/2 apple
L-chicken thigh, lettuce, spring onions, red pepper, with chipotle ranch dressing
S-1/2 apple
D-steak with a large veggie salad with EVOO and ACV dressing

That should knock me down a pound or two!

Have a wonderful day!

Vicki - you'll be here in just 9 days. I can't wait. Don't forget lunch, Tammy. As we get closer we'll get it set up.

we are living in an age of miracles...

if yours truly can learn to eat like 1 troll instead of 4. i had 1/2 sandwich for lunch. i tossed the roll, and used my own low carb bread. the inside was 1 thin slice of cheese, 1 slice of r.b. & 1 big frond of romaine lettuce. i added some mustard. it was enough. on my break i had 3 pork rinds which i broke up into pieces (about 1/8 of an oz), just to tide me over till dinner; u guessed it-roast pork loin with some sauted veggies. It seems trivial to mention, but i am providing strategies that work for me to help anyone with portion control issues. also, it is still new to me, and needs re-inforcement to cement into ritual status. Congrats to everyone who contributed to the monthly weight loss. I am glad you don't deduct the gains because with my results we would have been in the hole. But, thank goodness I am back on plan.

Happy Friday all,

I'm down 1 lb! I'll take it.

Home scale nekked says 213, home scale dressed says 216. Work scale for Biggest Loser with same clothes says 214.6 so I will jot down all 3 weights on my calendar. March should get me in to the next decade so I am psyched!

Congrats FF, great job on the loss and your renewed outlook!

Tammy, glad to hear the positive news about your friend Rachel.

Marilee - nice menu there!

FF & Marilee...you two are so darn near TWODERLAND, sending you best wishes to cross that threshold really really SOON!!!

Tony - we'll likely be at Village Sq on 3/19 as friend's band Ten & Out is playing, they do a lot of 80s stuff. Will keep you posted in case you want ot meet up and have a nice salad with us before the music starts....Have fun in Nashville!

Thanks, LiveFreeNH

It will generate such a sigh of relief, when I get there. I am quite patient in general, but when I reach a milestone like that...I am sure u can understand. I will feel the same when i am hovering a few lbs away from 1-derland. FF

Hi, all! Looks like everyone is doing well. I'm hanging in here. Still sticking to my exercise plan, though I've developed a small problem with inflammatory response. We think it may be caused by new downstairs neighbors smoking inside (I'm allergic), even though it's a no-smoking building. It has set off my asthma, created a lot of joint pain and swelling -- kind of an inflammatory domino effect. I'm trying to work with them to get them to take it outside, because I really don't want to see them get kicked out. But the situation really can't go on the way it is either.

My scale jumps around, but the weekly average remains unchanged. I am working on that. I'd hate to stall all the way through our first blitz of the year.

FF & Marilee, I have my fingers crossed for you to hit Twoterville soon!

Thank you all for the Twoterville wishes! Should be there by the end of March. My maintenance phase ends on the 21st so I'll be back on my drops and should drop at least 5 pounds.

I appreciate your protective instincts, FF. But we are in tobacco country here and I doubt the fire dept. would be much interested. I hate to get them kicked out because an eviction, unlike a bad credit rating, is a legal proceeding and stays on your record forever. They aren't bad kids -- they just don't get that they are causing real problems. Nicotine is a strong addiction and, like other addictions, makes it difficult to make rational choices about your use of it. I have given them a deadline for complying with their lease, and then I will have to go to the landlord, who will take action. I hope it won't come to that. In the meantime, I'm being scrupulous with my diet and everything I can do to support my health. This too shall pass.

hey guys,
checking in from nashville...thanks for the well-wishes... ;-)

shadows, great to see ya, and sorry to hear about your situation...for what it's worth, i agree 100% with your approach and compassion...ultimately, they will make the choice for you, one way or the other...they should understand that they don't have the right to adversely affect someone else's health...

ff, congrats on a big loss!!!...proud of you, bro...you worked hard for that...can't believe how close you are to twoterville!!!...and i've witnessed the whole thing except for the first 7 days!...

nancy, if you remind me about the 19th as it gets closer, i will definitely try to stop in...would love to meet you guys...

tammy, happy to hear you are feeling great...

vicki, you and i may have had a rough february, but we're gonna rock MARCH!!!

i'm behaving on my trip...all on plan and not too much and following my curfew...have had a total of 1/3 of a beer...the rest has been water and unsweet tea...

a buddy i had't seen in several months saw me last night and yelled "hey skinny!"...he noticed my weight loss right away...that felt good...lol...

anyway, flying back in tomorrow...feeling great...hang in there, kids!

Hi everyone,

It's BEAUTIFUL here in Phoenix....sunny and 80 degrees....definitely our time of year

Good eating day so far, bacon and eggs for breakfast, taco salad for lunch. DD made gluten free banana nut muffins.....they're very yummy...I had 2.....they're very small, but they're still carbier than what I should be having so I better tell her to keep them away!

Hope your weekend is fabulous!

See you in about a week

Day 6 of my plan. I am not eating between meals and for a few days it has been rough. But, I expected it to be that way. I was a grazer and am trying to break free of that by eating 3 meals a day, with nothing in between except SF fluids and gum.

Tony, let's rock MARCH

we're gonna do it, vicki!... :-)

back from nashvegas...great trip - my daughter had her interview and it went well, but they received over 600 applications so she thinks it's a long shot...it was nice to get to spend a couple of days with it being just me and her...with 5 kids those opportunities are rare...

when i got back, we drove straight from the airport in nh to my uncle's 80th birthday party in rhode island...ate a big meal, but stopped at about 5 p.m. and haven't eaten since...the curfew has to help...i'll know for sure when i weigh-in in a couple of hours...my goal is 208, but since i haven't been near a scale since thursday, i have no idea if i'll be 208 or 215!...i must have gotten 20 questions about my weight loss and my plan while at the party...again, the double-edged sword effect... :-)

it's always hard to know the effects of being away and out of your routine...

be back a bit later...hope my family members here are all having a great weekend!...

Morning!

Tony-five kids?! Holy cow you and your wife (I'm assuming your married-could be wrong) have your hands full. How old are they?

Glad you had a good trip, but nice to see you posting again. We miss you when you aren't around.

Went to the grocery store this morning - holy cow! One puny cucumber was $1.47! I refused to buy one! It's a good thing I like protein - it's cheaper than fruits and vegetables

Still at the maximum 2 pound window, which doesn't make me happy. If the scale doesn't go down tomorrow, I'll do an egg day. That should do it!

Morning everyone!

Vicki, I can't wait to meet you and Marilee both!

Tony, welcome back Glad you had a great trip and yes those times with our kids are priceless aren't they?!

Marilee you're doing great, you managed to stay in your window and you'll start dropping again big time!!

I'm down another pound this week....my goal was two, but hey I'll take the one!! It was a stressful week (aren't they all?) so i'll celebrate that I didn't gain and be happy!!

Happy Sunday all, enjoying 50s and a slow melt of the snow here in NH.

Hi Tony, welcome back!

Hubby and I have done Planet Fitness both weekend mornings...30 min on the elliptical and 20 min on treadmill yay! 500 calories torched per session.
Plus I got me some 8lb dumbells so I'm doing arm exercises at home, plus walking our dogs so exercise effort is good this weekend.

Last night we met up with another couple for Chinese food. Hubby and I had some sushi, lettuce cups with chicken/hazelnuts in them, shrimp w/basil and chicken w/broccoli. Aside from the sushi, no rice. Our friends had fried chicken fingers, fried egg rolls, fried wontons, fried shrimp blechhhh And the guy has a teeny stomach due to gastric bypass surgery. He had two bites and ended up waiting out in the car because he was feeling sick. And then she ordered more fried crap for takeout, we couldn't believe it.
We were glad to have stayed on the high road!!!

We did have a few light beers too....so no weigh-in today!

Well, hope everyone is ready for a new on-plan, focused week!
