3 days of portion control under my belt.

i hope it will cause me to need a smaller belt. i did not make the pork loin roast, as i did not want to fall asleep while it was cooking. That has been known to happen. i did make the 2nd 1/2 of my stirfry, though. 7 oz of steak as opposed to 27. it was delicious and satisfying. i did not bother with the Dreamfields. I also ate rather late. I was watching the Antiques Road Show which comes on PBS at 8 PM in NYC, while I was eating. For dessert, about an hour later, i had 1/2 cup of Friendship 1% cottage cheese whipped (3 grams carb)I always, in the past, ran the risk of eating the whole container (12 grams), and I did all too often. However, my resolve is intact. Besides, even at the sale price (2/$5.00), it is still pretty steep. I will get 8 portions out of it, or my name is not FLATFERENGHI.I did finally drift off about 10 PM. Meanwhile, the pork loin is being infused yet another day with the spices. Tonight, as soon as i get home, i will make it. I will get some fixins' from the salad bar in the cafeteria for another stirfry. I have a kicka$$ non-stick saute pan, and a heavy one. It was only $14.99 at a discount store. I am loving it. Cleaning it takes 2 seconds. My planned carb consumption for the day is 16 gr. FF

Good morning everyone!!!

Well Marilee you can put me down for a 5 pound loss this month, not as much as I'd hoped......certainly not as much as January, but that was my induction month!

March is a longer month though so I'm shooting for 10 pounds this month. It will take some real focus on my part as we have TONS of new drama at work these days. I've gotta tell you....property management is not for the faint of heart.

How's everyone else doing?

tammy, a huge congrats on dropping 5 lbs...i will weigh in in a bit, and i'm afraid i'm gonna gain the 5 you lost...as ff would say: thank the gods it is march...

i never liked february much...my least favorite month of the year and now i have another reason...i really struggled - not sure why...

but today starts another day - another month - another chance to get it right...and i'm gonna get it right!!!

ff, great job sticking with the portion control...way to shake things up, brother...you are setting a great example for me to follow and i need it...

LET's GO KIDS!

Morning all, Happy March 1!

Feb. loss for me was 7.5 lbs. I'll take it!

My workplace gang is starting a Biggest Loser with first weigh-in this Friday...costs $10 for the duration and ends on Friday, May 13 so I'm going to join. The person with the biggest percentage lost will be awarded the moo-lah. I see myself in Onederland by then, woo hoo.

FF - wow, you are a new man there with your new resolve and portion control. It REALLY does make a difference! Stir-fry is good!

Congrats Tammy on your 5 lb shed!

Tony - February is done, and this winter has JUST GOT TO TURN THE corner soon for spring, so lift up your spirits, enjoy your trip to N-ville...it'll start happnin' for you.

Yea Live_Free and Tammy- good job!!!!!!

I'm down 2.2. Since the maintenance part of my program started on 2/9, I lost the 2.2 the first week of the month. I'm glad I'm able to contribute.

So far we are at 14.7!

I am not a fan of February - my brother died at the age of 30 in February; I had to put my best friend in the world - my dog Gretchen - to sleep on President's Day weekend. These two things all happened years ago so I'm over it - it's just a bad month.

Hurray for March!!!!!!

I started phase 4 (I hate to bore you guys with this, but you are my support) this morning so I had a serving of cranberry almond oatmeal and I sprinkled some cinnamon in it. TO DIE!!!! That's all of that type of carb I get today. Slow and steady. Here's eats:

B-oatmeal with 2 eggs fried in a little butter
S-apple
L-2 chicken thighs, a tomato
S-apple
D-turkey burgers with a slice of cheese, lettuce salad with cucumbers. May, mustard and just a dollop of catsup for the burgers.

I'll pop in later - the boss just showed up so I better git to gittin'

kind of envious of u, gibby.

although i did not like oatmeal as a child (i loved wheatena, and cream of wheat), i DID learn to love it as a young adult. This is one of the foods i shall WITH CAUTION re-introduce when I reach goal. Enjoy it for me. FF

I reached a new bottom yesterday. Regained over the 200# mark. So, I am now doing the COE-HOW program (Compulsive Eaters Anonymous). There is a low carb food plan to follow of which I call into a sponsor daily. I know the 12 step programs work so I am giving this a shot.

Thanks, ff! Actually I love ALL hot cereal - cream of wheat is a fav. Do you remember May-Po and Ralston Purina? Too funny!

February-i broke even.

but truly it was a victory, because despite my tribulations, i stayed the course, and kept the faith. I prophecy that March will be more substantial weightloss wise. I am certain that as i approach my 1 yr blitz anniversary, we will all be celebrating significant, and permanent weight losses, AND improved eating behaviors (the primary reason i inaugurated these blitzes). i'm proud of you vicki

it takes guts to wrestle with a problem head-on like you are doing...most people (and i have done this myself in the past) throw in the towel when things get tough, but not you - not this time!...

we all share the same weaknesses and go through periods of strength and weakness...recognizing you need more support and structure is a critical element of breaking any negative cycle...you're my new hero!...good luck and we're here for ya...

lizzie - that is TREMENDOUS!!!...good for you, girl!

sorry, marilee, but you'll have to subtract 3 lbs. from our group's total losses for february as i weighed in at 210 this morning...i started january at 210 and february at 207...sorry guys - i will do better this month - i promise!

i have decided to implement a temporary 9 p.m. eating curfew on weeknights, at least for the time being...i will give myself the option of lifting it when i get to 205, but everything depends on how close i am to 1derland...i have 5 1/2 weeks to lose 11 pounds...so i need to avg 2 lbs. a week which i haven't done in some time...

i also got my 15-year-old son to agree to take walks with me in the evenings - i am going to try to do that 3-4 nights a week - whenever the weather allows...we live in a neighborhood with 3 cul-de-sacs and long hills and a walk through all of it equals 1 long, hilly mile...with my hip, i consider it fairly ambitious...

so those are the changes i am making immediately to try to end this stall once and for all...

What does everyone think? I just want to record losses and not deduct for gains. What say you?

well, i have no problem with you dropping my results from the total - then, rather than a "group total" for all of us, it will be a "group total" only for the group who lost weight...

then, i could lead a separate group of underachieving gainers...our goal would be to gain more weight than you guys lost...

just teasing - it's completely up to you, marilee... i'll be making a positive (negative) contribution in march...you can bet the farm on that...

Personally, I think we should just count the "losers". Keeps thing on a positive note.

Besides, with the way weight fluctuates, we are all going to have difficulty at some time and why stress that? IMHO

I'm with Marilee on this one!!

Tony you are a vital part of our group and yes we all struggle from time to time, that's why we're all here...together. What you contribute every day to our band of fellow losers is worth far more than pounds lost or gained!

Crazier day...those of you who pray please do so for my former employee Rachel. She moved to Chicago two weeks ago to be with her fiancée and I got word today that she was in a critical car accident and may not survive. The friend she was driving with did die and Rachel lost the baby she was carrying. The next 48 hours are very critical so please pray for her and her family.

It''s a good reminder that life is fragile so love and appreciate every moment. I love and appreciate all of you and I'm SO GLAD I found you all. I am especially glad that FF had the foresight to start this Blitz......you all help keep me focused and sane and I have discovered that this is actually tougher than losing the weight!

I love you guys!

i did not dissappoint myself.

the pork roast is as close to perfection as i could get it. i let it rotate for 60 minutes, and then another 15 minutes w/o heat. It shuts off automatically after 15 minutes. The 2 slices i sliced (soft as a baby's bottom)weighed 4&1/2 oz. That & the sauted veggies was the cat's meow, the bee's knees. I am keeping the rest of it whole, and only slicing the portion du jour. It should last me through the weekend. I think tomorrow night I will add my bbq sauce mixture (WF bbq sauce with a packet of chinese mustard)to the portion. I am beginning to think I can cure the uncommon cold. (anyone can cure the common one). What is miraculous is that I am TOTALLY satisfied with the 4 1/2 oz. I did have 2 thin slices of muenster cheese when I got home. over 5 hrs had elapsed since lunch. Well, talk to y'all tomorrow. I am envious of your walks, Tony. If there is a place where u can swim a few laps a few times a week, that would certainly speed things up a bit for you. Nighty night!! ff, that sounds yummy...i bought a marinated pork loin roast a couple of days ago and plan on making it tomorrow...thursday, i'm off to nashville...btw, no need to be envious of my walks - why don't you come out here and take them for me?... :-)

thanks, tammy...i do bring quite a bit to the table here...and that was my problem in february - i brought TOO MUCH to the table...lol...

vicki, good for you, girl...one day at a time!

had a great day today...my curfew worked tonight - got home late after meeting a friend for a salad, and missed my 9 p.m. cut-off so i did not overeat at all...unfortunately, i need this short leash!...funny - i never break the rules i set for myself - my trouble starts when i have too much latitude!...

OMG! I'll put Rachel and her family and fiance on my prayer list.

morning, guys...woke up feeling strong...the eating curfew is gonna make a huge difference for me...i think my late-night grazing has been adding a few hundred calories a day to my menu, which i think has been the tipping point between maintaining (which i'm great at) and losing (which i'm not so great at)...

it's amazing how short a leash i need...the rest of you have inspired me with the measures you have taken to insure success...

i don't seem to have any trouble during the day and now with a smaller window in the evening, i think i'll be in good shape...being in nashville for a couple of days where i have limited access to food might give me a bump too...

i have to schedule a doc's appt - just an Rx follow-up and bi-annual blood work - for early april...gonna shoot for my 1-year blitz anniversary and 1derland for that...i have a huge incentive to get this done!

Morning!

I survived my first day of Phase 4 - adding good carbs to the diet. When I weighed this morning I was down 4 ounces! I realize it can take a couple of days for what we eat to show up on the scale so I don't want to get overconfident, but

Had my cranberry almond oatmeal again for breakfast with a couple of eggs. I'll do that again tomorrow and then on Thursday, in addition to the oatmeal, I'll add a small sweet potato or a little brown rice to dinner and see what happens!

It's just so exciting to see where the cap is on carbs for me so I'll know in the future not to go over that.

Have a great day everybody. I'll pop in later!

night eating!!!

probably the one thing that most find most difficult to conquer.By night eating, I mean anytime from end of work day to bed time. For me, it is almost an 8 hr period. i joined the night eating challenge as well. it is all about developing strategies to deal with it on a continual (continuous?)basis, even when u are surrounded by food, even if it is off-plan food. i am finally breaking ground in this endeavor. it is, however, a planned strategy, and not leaving it to chance. I decide, in advance, what i am going to have, and how much of it. I divide my planned eating into 2-3 periods. I keep myself occupied with distractions such as tv, radio, dvd, cd, computer, etc. I keep water, diet soda, etc. close by. Also, some housework. And, in the warm weather...just being outside. That is my strategy. FF

Tammy, I pray. Daily. Your friend Rachel is on my list now.

Just back from the docs, boy was everyone pleased with my weight loss and I told them how I was doing it. My doc lady tells everyone to knock off the bread and go gluten-free. SO that was a high for me. Unfortunately, she felt a nodule in my thyroid so I had some bloodwork done and tomorrow I go for an ultrasound. I am turning into high maintenance

Anyway, everyone try and stay the course!
