I don't meant to be nosy, but what is your work? Is that what is causing you stress?

YEA!!!!! Good for you!

I'm still in my window, but on the high side so clean eating today:

B-3 eggs scrambled in a little butter with a slice of cheddar cheese; coffee with hwc
L-tuna with may and scallions stuffed in a red pepper with a cup of chicken broth and an apple
D-Same as yesterday-left over steak, green beans, salad with ranch dressing.

S-a root beer float (LC style) if I need it.

i live on planet Earth in the year 2011.

that is reason enough for stress. i am a clerk working in a hospital. u would think i was Sec'y of State with the responsibilities heaped upon me & at my working poor level salary. if i was retired, that still would not be an end to stress. at this particular moment, i am enjoying the last of two 1/12 partitions of a 7" low carb cheese cake. It is a small size, but extremely satisfying event. It will certainly tide me over till lunch. FF

hey guys, hope everyone is well....

congrats, nancy, 40 lbs. is such a great accomplishment!...just think of 8 - 5lb. bags of sugar melting away!...you have a different body already, girl...thanks for the indian restaurant tips... :-)

marilee, i wish i was eating with you!...and ff!...you guys really know how to make this woe work deliciously...congrats on staying within your window!...

ff, take a deep breath and fry something in the ready, set, go thingy, will ya?...sounds like an action-packed weekend, my friend...keep me in mind while you are eating that steak...

well, i weighed in officially at 210 this morning - down 2 lbs. from last friday, and exactly where i was on january 1st...WOW!!!...i am also up 3 lbs. for the month, so barring an illness or a miracle, i will be adding to the total y'all lost this month when we do our tally on tuesday...sorry, guys...

i'm feeling good and strong and eating well, but i am in a real stall...i am going to have to make some serious adjustments - am thinking about alternatives now - i'll keep ya posted...i must be consuming too many calories, and have to start thinking about increasing my exercise to include walking - even with my bad hip...something's gotta give...

i'm not discouraged at all - just being realistic about what i have to do to start losing again...two months without losing a single pound is not acceptable - but i am happy that i haven't gained, so there is THAT!... :-)

taking it one meal at a time here in rainy new hampshire!

Yes folks I think we have a winner!!!!

Hope everyone is having a super fabulous Friday and ready for a great weekend.

Good morning fellow Blitzers!

It's gray and overcase with a forecast of rain this afternoon and evening and tomorrow. I love it! Summer's coming soon and that old sun is going to be beating down on us, right Tammy?

I'm just at the two pound limit for my maintenance so I'm not going to do a correction day, but just eat protein today - nothing else - steak; eggs, etc. I didn't get much water in yesterday - that is such a challenge for me - and I'm sure that is a big part of it.

I'll check in later - have a few things to do around the house and if they don't get done by noon, they don't get done I am such a morning person - honestly.

Hey all,
Walked the dogs at 6:30 and went back to sleep. So much for going to the gym this morning! It's 11:15, soon we're off, and then back for a late brekkie. I'm at the end stage of a bad cold so I'll probably work with weights and avoid coughing up a lung on the elliptical. I really miss exercising this week. However, I did drop some weight this week (1.5) without exercising so there you go.

Hope everyone is doing well, and keeping eye on the goalposts!

well, here i am...at home.

without my even mentioning it, or suggesting it,Luciano, the dude who fixed my computer, confirmed my suspicion that the Anti-virus insurers were causing the very viruses they charge us through the lobes to defer. You HEWMONS learn from us quite well. I bought me a pork loin roast this evening, which i will make tomorrow or Monday. I have begun some serious portion control, and i am finding it quite do-able. After I make my steak(bone in), which weighs 0.98 lbs uncooked. I will slice it thinly, and make into 3 portions for a stirfry. I might even add 1/2 portion of Dreamfields spaghetti to each portion of stirfry. When I make the pork roast, i will deliberately undercook it to rare. Then when i nuke each portion, i can nuke it to medium rare, this keeping it from drying out. I have been quite insecure about quantities. or rather the lack of quantity. But i cannot, without much exercise, eat 1 lb of cow at a time, anymore, and hope to get to goal weight in this life time. So, by eating slowly, drinking lots of liquids (some of which is plain water), keeping distracted while eating, to the point where i actually put my shovel down between mouthfuls, i believe i will lose at a SLIGHTLY quicker pace. And on a low carb woe, i will have more success, than on other plans. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, blitzers. FF

hoi everyone...i posted yesterday but it's not here....hmmmm...another example of my technological stupidity i'm afraid...

ff, sounds like you are on the right track attacking the portion issue...i have the same problem...mine is exacerbated by a late night grazing problem that i will solve in march by placing a curfew on eating, if that's what it will take to get to 1derland, and i am afraid it is...i may impose the curfew on certain days of the week...i may also schedule an egg fast day once a week during march...

i am determined to get to 199 by april 7th, and that's gonna take some real discipline!

marilee, great job staying in your window!

nancy, happy to hear you're feeling better...i usually am ravenous after recovering from a cold...drink a lot of fluid and brace yourself!...lol...

Maybe it will last longer than a week!

A pound is a pound - good for you!!!!

I'm still a little over my 2 pound window. I firmly believe it's water weight as I've been "good".

back again.

day 2 (officially) of portion control. Bkfst was 1/2 cup 1% whipped cottage cheese (Friendship brand) 3 gr. Lunch at McD:grilled chicken Caesar (did not bring my nuts-darn!)with 1/3 packet Caesar dressing. Dinner: stirfry with veggies and 6 oz steak. Yummo. i left the rest uncooked, lest i eat it all. those veggies really cook down. i sauted it in a little evoo, grapeseed oil & Butter. I tried to it it slowly. But i made short work of it. I am now giving it the 30 minute test. so far, my insides have that comfy "back in the womb" feeling. i am sure it is the butter talking.Later tonight, i will have 1/2 container of Fage. I will dry rub the pork loin roast & Popeil it when i return from work, tomorrow. I have on a great flick: 'Loonie Toons Back in Action". Love that Daffy! (a l'orange would be better...but i must wait for a later phase of ATKINS). This portion control is, for me, quite new...scary, yet exciting. Wish me luck fellow blitzing HEWMONS. FF

addendum to previous post.

i ate the entire container(7 oz FAGE/6 gr carbs). I did not realize that 1 container was 1 portion. I added a couple tblspns of flax seed to it. I did eat that slowly. So good. I was up quite late last night. I had, sometime between 11 pm and midnight, 1 oz of muenster cheese. All together, i am quite pleased that i was able to endure measurably smaller quantities, and on the weekend.I hope i can make this 2nd nature. FF

good morning all!...

ff, great job on the portion control...keep it up and i'm sure you'll see another drop this week...

marilee, how was the marathon???... :-)

i, too, survived the weekend without straying too far...but i have to say, it sucked having homemade lasagna in the house...i ditched the noodles but ate too much of the rest of it...i'm guessing i'm gonna be up three lbs. for the month when i weigh in tomorrow...

i may try to have a salad and egg ONLY day today, as i feel guilty adding so much to the losses you have all worked so hard for this month...

i will be in nashville from thurs a.m. til sat a.m. - short trip - bringing my daughter down as she is applying for a nursing job at vanderbilt university hospital...hate to have her leave new england, but if she does, i hope she goes to nashville where i am, regularly...

the trip will probably help me drop a lb. or two...no grazing in the hotel!...i need a change! :-)

Good morning!

The marathon was good, Tony! There's another one next weekend on A&E. Yea!

Tony, have you considered a steak and egg day? That's all you eat - and people have had great success with that. Don't feel guilty about this month! You are doing great!

Well, 2 days of clean eating has me just 8 oz over my maintenance weight so I am going to go to Phase 4 as scheduled tomorrow. Cranberry almond oatmeal for breakfast! It's nice to be able to add a little healthy carbs to see how my body responds. Now is when portion control really counts!

At work so I need to run - I'll check in later.

Tony...how about using Dreamfields?

they make lasagna pasta as well. or, u can use sliced eggplant instead. anything with cheese and sauce (& meat) i am sure the kids will love. Tonight i am making 1/2 portion of Dreamfields (either spaghetti or Rotelle to augment the stirfry veggies. I will be most careful not to cook it past the stipulated time (on the box). I have not yet used my new info-toys, as i have to make appropriate room for them. It is really a small apartment (and getting smaller). FF

thanks, marilee, but i am not pleased with myself right now...i have simply gotten complacent since i got in the 207-215 range and have hung out there since january...in fact, i hit 214 for a minute last september and the scale said 212 this morning, so that is a 2 lb. loss in 5 1/2 months...i'm afraid i've been resting on last year's laurels...

the good news is that i am not gaining much either and i am within 5 lbs. of my all-blitz low, so it's not like i am trying to fix a total disaster, but i need to get down to the next lower level and i'm gonna have to shake things up to get there...i am proud of myself for sticking to my workouts religiously 3-4 times a week for almost a year, but that's about it right now...

i look and feel so much better than i used to and that is my "new" problem...i need to see the importance of getting to my overall goal and find more motivation...i am committed to getting to 1derland by my one year anniversary here, so we'll all see how "committed" i am over these next 5 1/2 weeks!...

ff, i don't deserve dreamfields right now...i deserve a kick in the pants!...

well, guys, it is what it is...we had a very good january, thanks to the extraordinary efforts of some dedicated souls (you know who you are!) and we can't expect that to happen every month...

the other reality is that the more weight we lose, the harder it becomes to lose...our calorie requirements to maintain our new, lower weights, decrease and that makes it more and more difficult to lose...

that's where i am right now...at 210 lbs. and my current level of activity, i only require 2200 calories, so in order to lose 1 lb. per week (which = 3500 calories), i would have to eat only 1700 calories per day on average...that is my mathematical reality and one of the main reasons i have made so little progress since hitting the 210 neighborhood...

it is difficult to increase my physical activity because although i am fairly fit and do ab and weight training, i am a candidate for a total right hip replacement that i am putting off...i may have to rethink that decision...

so my challenge is to come up with a way to burn more calories within my limitations and to reduce my intake to less than 1700 calories a day...not easy, but i gotta do it!...

Tony, I don't know what your situation is, but my sister had her hip replaced a couple of years ago and she was sorry she waited so long to get it done. She and her SO go hicking, work out at the gym, etc. She is doing very well.

For what it's worth.....

thanks, marilee, it's worth a lot - i need all the encouragement i can get...since i was a kid, i always had a fear of going under general anesthesia - thought i wouldn't wake up...and i've been lucky enough to have avoided it for almost 52 years...that's my biggest obstacle...

how's everyone doing?...
