i have no idea what my (earth) brother has in store for me

this weekend (the big "60"). So, I will accept what comes. It is only one meal. My big campaign is to get a treadmill at little or no cost. I will discuss this with my podiatrist today. He knows people. Perhaps he might be able to help in some way. It is worth a shot. It is the only way to walk w/o shoes. FF

wow, ff, the big day is almost here!!!...seems like it snuck up on us...well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY brother...wish i lived closer - i'd make sure i got a treadmill up to your apartment...you gave yourself the best gift you could this year - a newer, healthier body...i am so proud of you!...

lady, so sorry you had that kinda day...when i encounter people like that, i think to myself that i would much rather be on the receiving end of their vitriol, than to be inside their skin spewing it...then i feel sorry for them and i don't get upset...

marilee, if you and lady are getting together, i hope you will have a toast (not a slice of toast!) for all of us - even if it's just water or unsweet tea!

i must be the big mouth here - i get tied up with some pesky collapsed buildings and y'all get shy...

i've had days i can best describe as "so-so"...i am definitely not in my "trying to lose weight" mode...i'm bouncing between 207 and 210 and i understand why...i need to get serious again one of these days as i have 10 lbs. to lose by the end of march and a docs appt before that as well...i know i will shift gears sometime in the next few days...

Hey all!

Ladyboss, good for you for not taking all that crap!

HI Tony, sorry to hear of the building collapses and hope your losses aren't too extensive & maybe insurance covers it? ...my company has a crew shoveling the roof here, our roof is 3 acres.

I donated blood last night and caved in on some Lorna Doone cookies and some fruit chews during the post-donation chillout period. Will try to ratchet things down for weigh-in later this week.

FF - wishing you a most excellent birthday and I hope you have a fabulous meal involving a huge steak to celebrate! Remember, 60 is the new 30!

Well, breakfast was 1 hb egg, some spinach and 1/4 avocado & my vitamins.
In a training class today, so lunch will be out and I think it will be Mexican so I am getting mentally prepared to request LC alternations!!

Have a good one everyone!

Thanks, HEWMONS, for your kind wishes.

and proud i am for myself, and for all of us who are not going to be browbeaten by people or the scale. My podiatrist suggested Craigs list. I will try it when i get home. If/when i do find something, he will be more than happy to come and bring it to me with his truck. So many people buy them and are gung ho in the beginning (like when they get a new puppy for Xmas...but then the puppy grows up...and winds up abandoned.)the same with the treadmill. Or they move, and do not want to take it with them. I am counting on those people. FF

Glad that you managed to spend some time with your daughter ! My Dad admitted years afterward that he had a lump in his throat when he dropped me off at college for the first time - I had no idea !

Sorry you're having a rough week, tony8 . Is it a rough week food-wise, or a rough week generally?

I have no idea ! I only drink red because I prefer it to white - I don't know if white or red is lower in carbs. Hope the snow isn't preventing you from going to the gym!

I stuffed my face yesterday, I have to admit. All on plan, but the calories must have been huge ! Had my protein shake so far this morning, and plan to snack on pecan nuts throughout the day, then have some slow cooked belly pork for dinner.

Hope everyone has a great day!

it seems that Craigslist is not such a great idea.

my colleagues at work warned me that it is very dangerous to be involved with Craigslist. someone in NYC was killed regarding Craigslist. i do not know the details. But, i will have to find another solution...somewhere...somehow...somewhen. if not in this life, then the next. It was the perfect solution. It was not to be. FF

Good morning fellow Blitzers!

Tony I hope you week makes a turn for the better! I'm so sorry you have to put up with all of the winter damage!

I'm starting my maintenance phase of hcg today so I got to have bacon and eggs for breakfast - did you hear the sounds of rapture coming from the Southwest? IT WAS ME!!!!!!

best of luck with the hcg. Gibby.

however, i must confess, i have not the foggiest what hcg is. I cannot wait for this day to be over. In a permanent state of clench. I have not used the computer at home much. I still regard it as a stranger in my house. FF

Tony, sorry to hear about your buildings.

Tammy, your work sounds stressful. I want a nice cup of peppermint tea just reading about it.

FF, yay on 60! And you don't want to know what hcg is. The latest diet craze for women, this time a hormonally-based thing. A friend of mine sent me the diet routine that went with the protocol and I got tired just reading it.

We are finally getting back to our normal temps on Saturday, after averaging 30 degrees below our normal average in December and 17 degrees below normal average for January. Hello, sunshine! Still exercising here , but it will be great to be able to do it outside.

i did not weigh in today.

i could not afford the evil omens of an unsatisfactory scale performance. The good news, is that we will be going to a restaurant for the big 60. Ergo, there will be choices. I am so relieved. I am expecting about 6 people. So there will be dinner conversation, anything to slow down the eating. Plus, i will have 2 whole days for myself (Mon & Tues). I will try to get what exercise i can. I have the energy, I just don't have the shoes for it. FF

hey guys, another crazy day - these building collapses are dominating my schedule!...

thanks for all the support...i love you guys!

marilee, i'm so happy for you hitting the maintenance phase...you rocked phase one, girl...enjoy eating!

shadows, happy to hear it's warming up...send some of that warm air over here, would ya???

i've been at 210 the past couple of days so if that holds for tomorrow's weigh-in, i will have a 3 lb. gain and will be back to where i started this 4th blitz...i'm not discouraged in the least - if that's where i'm at, it just means i am gonna have to have a MONSTER week next week as i AM getting to 1derland by the end of this blitz WHATEVER that takes...

ff, it's great to know when you need a break from the scale...good for you, man...not sure about craigslist in nyc, but out here in the hinterlands, a LOT of business gets done that way...better to be safe than sorry though, so best of luck finding a treadmill some other way...congrats again on #60!

Sorry haven't been around, kind of busy. I am on the maintenance of the detox plan. Pretty much following it but adding back some occasional cheese or pnut butter. But pretty much sticking with veggies, protein and fruit. I haven't lost anymore, I guess body is adjusting right now.

I guess I haven't been good on keeping up: building collapse??

FF-what did you do with craigslist? I used it to get rid of furniture and a bike and had good success.

Hi everyone!!! I hope everybody had a fabulous Thursday

I was SOOOOOOOOOOO Bad today! My boss came out to see me and conduct final interviews on a candidate I'm about to hire and for Valentines day she brought us a gift bag FULL of candy!!!! Very sweet of her and she's a real doll....but seriously?!?! SIGH....I confess....I had some. Not as much as I would have in the past....but certainly more than I should have. I must be honest though....I enjoyed every morsel. I know I shouldn't have, but I did!

I told the girls to HIDE the rest of it and they can have it all to themselves.

Oh well, back on track now!!!

Have a great evening everyone.

hi tammy, happy you enjoyed the candy...sometimes you just gotta :-)

good to see you, vicki...you lost so much so fast, i'm sure your body is just taking a break from losing...good luck with the detox plan!

i've had way too many carbs this week and i can feel the negative effects...i just flat-out feel crappy when i have carbs other than healthy fruit...shouldn't that be enough to keep me away from them???

anyway, gonna have a couple of clean days and then really buckle down next week...

Happy Friday everyone!

Sounds like a few of us are having a slowdown in losing department but that's OK....we're still standing!

I was up a couple this week due to last weekend (Chinese food & SB treats) but am back to my posted weight due to focused eating and since Sunday, I have 3 hrs of exercise (elliptical and treadmill) in..with more gym time this Sat & Sun...I would love to get into my next decade by Monday, I would be very pleased if I do!

Talkin' about Valentine's Candy YUM...Tammy, good to have some to get the fix and good to put the rest away. I could go for just ONE LITTLE CHOCOLATE HEART right now! But it will be like potato chips, I can't have just one...so I will make the "x" with my fingers if I encounter any!

Next Wed. the company is having a Hawaiian Shirt Day and bringing in 25 Hawaiian pizzas for lunch. Great. Just great. I hate pineapple on pizza, am not eating cheese or ham, and don't eat flour/bread items any more. I'll bring my salad and will wear a Hawaiian shirt.

some of us are hitting a rough patch, but that's part of the process...it's not how many times you fall, it's how many you get back up, right?... :-)

ff, i don't blame you - i'd avoid c-list too after hearing what you did...there is more than one way to skin the proverbial cat, my friend...so, are we having steaks at the restaurant on sunday???

nancy, great job on the exercise!...good luck getting to your next decade by monday...

well, i am up 5 lbs this week...what an accomplishment!...i'm sure some of it is fluid as i have eaten a lot of salty stuff, but i've also over-carbed and i deserve what i got...

i'm not discouraged, just re-motivated to get clean and back on track before any more damage is done...so that's what i'm doing...

what's on everyone's agenda this weekend?

Tony, the 5lbs IS probably salt so if you cut down, drink water, be patient and weigh yourself later next week, you'll probably be zero'd out, no problem.
Salty stuff tastes soooo good but one pays for it on the scales (i.e. my crackers-in-the-car binge last week)...And you've had a tougher week than the average bear, so what the heck, you'll be cool.

Agenda-wise, we're thinkin' the Rt 111 Village Square on Sat night for a meal, drinks & music...we love their salads, they are huge (the Cobb, Spinach-grilled chicken etc.)...so Tony if you are venturing out, c'mon by! We'll likely be at the bar by 8-8:15, ask bartender gals if Roger (the Brit) and Nancy are here..

Sunday we are cooking a Beef Wellington dinner with next-door neighbors, she is bringing a chocolatey-cakey desserty thang...so I will get out my Barbie doll's dessert plate for my portion.

Have a pleasant weekend everyone, and a big Happy Birthday to FF!

For all of you falling prey to Valentine's candy -- they do make sugar-free Valentine's candy, even some in those cute heart-shaped boxes. I got one as a gift. So don't forget that option.

thanks, shadows!... :-)

nancy, ya never know, i might just show up sat night...thanks for the invite!...i am having dinner in the north end with my 4 siblings on saturday afternoon, so my plans will depend on how long that runs...i'd love to meet you guys sometime...i live about 10 minutes from there...

in fact, i almost took my son to the village square for dinner last night - we have a tradition of going to a place we've never eaten before, on the evening of "course night" at pinkerton academy where my wife teaches science...but we ended up someplace else... :-)

believe me, at least a couple of the pounds i gained are fat...maybe a couple are water as i was 2 lbs lighter yesterday and it's almost impossible to gain 2 lbs. in a day - i should know as i've tried!...lol...

ff, happy (almost) birthday to you!!!

hey lizzie, thanks for the browmie recipe...that was very SWEET of you :-)

kinda quiet in here - is everyone okay?...just busy?...

today, i'm meeting my sibs in boston for lunch...north end italian restaurant...gonna keep it low carb...feel like i poisoned myself last week...this one's gonna be different...

i don't mean this to sound like an excuse - it's more of a confession, but the building collapses and associated stress took me off my game for several days...much more devastatingly, i lost one of my closest friends yesterday and watching him go downhill for the past 4-5 weeks, contributed greatly to my funk...

i didn't see my digressions coming and didn't expect them...i didn't eat like i used to - just so much more poorly than i have been eating and i feel a dramatic difference...in the end, i guess i learned something else about myself...

hope everyone has a great saturday...check in and let us know how you're doing...

jenny, when do you leave???...i'm so excited for you!
