Oooh, you play a dangerous game, ff ! I'm glad it's worked out for you in terms of exercising the required control to return to your low carb eating plan .

Thanks for the feedback on the film, tony8! I can't decide on whether or not to see it - the thought of the scene where he actually cuts his arm off makes me cringe just thinking about it . Went to see the King's Speech the other day and enjoyed it - a different experience going to the flicks and not chomping down on salted, buttered popcorn as usual.

Congrats on your steady weekend.

Gibby - you've lost more weight than the rest of us put together !

Not had a bad day today - savoured a HUGE protein shake all morning (about 600 calories worth ) and then had poached smoked haddock with buttered greens for dinner, with a creamy coffee and 2 squares of Lindt 90% cocoa chocolate for supper.

Am making beef stew for dinner tomorrow in the slow cooker - just the thing in this horrible, cold winter weather.

Hope everyone is having a great day so far !

I can't wait for everyone's losses to be sent tomorrow morning! I'll total them all up and do a post with just that info so we can all see at a glance.

If you could all post it by 8AM Mountain Time, that would be great!!!!

you got it, marilee!...btw, congrats on leading us in weight-loss this month...you worked so hard and deserve all our admiration!...

ff, i think what you did over the weekend was a good idea and psychologically very healthy, regardless of what happens on the scale on thursday...the ability to stray and then return to form is a critical element to us being able to live with these changes for the rest of our lives...

i really don't think that treating the same food that the masses eat every day (i'm talking about good, healthy people who do so in moderation), like an addictive drug or poison, works in the long run...some food, while maybe not nutritiously beneficial, might still be delicious and okay to taste once in a while...i think we need to develop the power to indulge and then stop...to see ourselves as normal and in control, as we try to develop better eating habits...you took a big step toward that this week and i applaud it...

jenny, 10 lbs. is awesome, kid...congrats on staying strong!

lizzie and misty - 3 lbs is excellent and what i'm hoping to achieve this month (i'll have to have a good night tonight!)...

artemis - i think i'm gonna do the same thing - an egg fast once a week...i'll pick the day at random...for me, having one hard-boiled egg three times a day with some acv, will be my plan...

clanger, unless you have a really weak stomach, i think you should see it...the way they show it, there is time to look away if it bothers you...most of the movie is not graphic...i saw the king's speech last week and thought it was great...btw, congrats on avoiding the popcorn - wish i was as strong as you!...and the beef stew sounds yummy - can i come over?...

all i've had all day today was a hb egg and a couple of walnuts - making some stir fry chicken and veggies tonight - should be good...

Thanks, Tony, but as I mentioned - I will be in maintenance phase for 6 weeks starting 2/10 where I am not permitted to lose anymore weight so my body can stabilize so you all will be losing the weight and have to carry me.

Enjoy your stir-fry chicken, tony8 - sounds delicious!

Well, I succumbed to temptation this morning, and... ... got weighed ! Last time I got weighed was 4th December and I'm down 9lbs since then, so just over 1lb per week which I'm pleased with considering I hardly starved myself over Christmas and New Year !

I'm now tantalisingly close - 5lbs - from no longer being obese ! Hopefully by the end of next month! Well, it's 6:30am over here, so time to head for the gym.

Have a great day all!

Goodmorning all, New snow storm is already starting so I off to the grocery store for 7 am. Last day of the big sale or I wouldn't be going anywhere.

Marilee just wanted to post my finally total for the month as 3 lbs. I was hoping to see a little more over night, but none. Looks like we'll see a nice total for January.

i am quite pleased with myself.

last night i had a nice dinner, with a maximum of 3 gr of carb. i had a cup of fatty chicken broth, 2 cheeseburgers with a thin slice of tomato for each, and less than 1/2 thin onion slice divided between the burgers. Also, a couple of dill pickle round slices. I had also the broiled filet of salmon, but i resisted the broccoli. My experiment is still going on through high noon on
Thursday 2/3/11. I may have to carry it through till 2/10/11. I would like to get below 300 before 2/13/11. It is funny about the movies. That is one place where I have no interest in eating. It has to do with my natural FERENGHI instincts. Who wants to pay those high prices for the food there. They make so much money at the concession stands, they can afford to give the movie for free. Of course, i could sneak food in, but i might have to use the public restroom during the movie. No, i eat after the movie, on my turf. FF

WOWEE!!!!!!!!...clanger!!!...i am sooooo happy for you!...9 lbs. is amazing!...and to do it over the holidays is doubly amazing!...congratulations girl - you've earned it!...

misty, 3 lbs. in one month is tremendous...do that all year and we won't be able to find you!... :-) great job!!!

ff, i agree with what you are saying about movie prices, and i'm embarrassed to admit that i'd buy popcorn if it was $20 a bag!...HELP!

i had a great day yesterday on the eating front...a very light day and instead of stir-fry, which i'll make tonight, i had tuna salad, a few buffalo wings and steamed broccoli...a few grams more salt than i should have consumed, but not too many calories...

feeling pretty strong...i usually eat less before a nashville trip...this will be the lightest i've been on a trip there - ever - by about 10-11 lbs...i'm hopeful that i will lose a couple of pounds while i am there - i usually do cuz i am so busy writing and running around, i don't eat well or much...

here's to a strong week for everyone!...i'll weigh in and post my monthly result in a bit...hope i don't subtract from everyone's losses!

Ok, don't know if we are officially taking the January totals yet, but I lost 5.5 lbs. Not as much as I wanted to lose, but I think I lost some inches too. I work out a lot so I may be converting some fat to muscle which weighs more.
Look forward to hearing all the losses this month!

Hi all, Happy Tuesday and turn the page on the calendar to February!

My January total is 9.5 lbs which is my best month ever.

I agree that it's fine to veer off the path now and then to have a treat. Tony is right - to indulge just a bit, and then know when to stop. I saw a dessert table at a weekend party and stayed away from it...but I made a big dent in the chicken wings.......and had a few pretzels too...more than a few but hey...got my fix so I'm all set now.

Carry on everyone, and here's to losing more in February be it a few pounds or a lot of pounds!!!

tuna/celery/mayo

w/o low carb bread. of course it would be infinitely better with the bread. However, in order to keep it as close to zero as possible, i am doing without. Also, it is good to abstain every now and then. I will not be able to get more until the 2nd half of Feb. at the earliest, due to weather and other obligations. It was good though. i will take a walk to the cafeteria, for the walk anyway. Perhaps there will be something ATKINS friendly I can take home. FF

i hit the jackpot!!!

the cafeteria had my facility's official fish: TILAPIA. i bought 3 portions: 1 for lunch & 2 for dinner. fish is not very filling, so at my afternoon break, if needed, i will cut me some Kraft extra sharp cheddar-2 oz. all our weather stations are reporting gloom and doom, weatherwise. Let us hope my transportation is not too gullible. I would like to be home before it is time to come back to work tomorrow. FF

It doesn't matter if you were up and down - we all do that. Did you weigh less the end of the month than you did on the first? That's the number we want.

marilee, you can slap me if you want - i deserve it...i got busy at work and forgot to post my total...sorry

well, i lost 3 lbs. for the month...i needed a little bigger loss to keep on pace to get to 1derland by the end of the blitz, but i'll take it...it was a loss of almost 1.5% of my body weight!...i've lost a total of 15.5% of my body weight since 4/10/10 - that's not too shabby for less than 10 months...

i'm 8 lbs. away from my blitz IV goal with 2 months to go...and i AM going to get there...

wish i contributed more to the group loss, but you guys rocked it!...i'm so proud of all of you!

tony I must of missed it, when you going to Nashville? That sounds like a great trip. Are you going to see your buddy that was just up awhile ago? 3 lbs is great, you'll see onerland by the end of this blitz. Now that the holidays are over I think staying on track is going to get alot better. I know for me I messed up during xmas and it's taking a while to get things moving again.

Wow it's nice to see how much as a group we've lost in 1 month. That's like a whole little child. That's great. Well it's still snowing here so I'm going outside and shovel my last round for today. And I saved enough carbs that I'm having a nice lemon mousse for my reward. Another foot or so coming tomorrow.

bon voyage, Tony8...

Have u seen the Parthenon there yet? I understand it is breathtaking. The kids should see it too. I've been to the original, many years ago. I could hardly contain myself. 50 lbs for the Blitzers? Not bad at all. I hope i will be able to add to that. Yesterday's total was 7 gr of carbs. 6 of which came from Friendship 1% whipped cottage cheese. More than I intended to eat, but once i start, sometimes(no, almost always) it is virtually impossible to stop. It was 1 cup or 1/2 the container. Not buying it for a while, unless it is on sale. The regular price is obscene. Cheese in general is expensive. Is there a cow shortage? FF
