Lizzie you'll love it here.

Marilee it's nice to go back to work when you enjoy you're job. But I bet a little vacation time was nice too.

Well I did really good my second weekend in a row. Now I'm upping my water to 100 oz a day. That's the one thing I've been slacking on. And any small amount of sodium bloats me right up.

Misty and Tony, I have the same problem! I am overly sensitive to salt and the strange thing is that I am supposed to be drinking between 1 and 2 gallons of water daily as recommended by Dr. to keep my blood pressure up but that still doesn't help with the salt, ack!

HEBREW NATIONAL LIES!!!

Their regular salami and bologna has 1 gr of carb per 2 thin slices, or 4 gr per 8 oz package. They have a lean variety, as well, which takes out some of the fat and adds GUESS WHAT-modified food starch, doubling the carb count per serving. They are supposed to be w/o fillers of any kind. That is what they claim. I hope that the god whom they claim to serve strikes them dead!!! That aside, the weekend was within plan, ATKINS & WW. I went to another meeting on Sat a.m. It is quite a lively group, and literally SRO. God bless them all and their egg white omelets!!! I made my steak on Sunday with some sauted sliced portabello mushrooms. The cow was cooked to meaty-yum rare perfection. I took my legs out for a stretching, also on Sunday. It is still very dangerous walking outside here in Bklyn., USA. They do not shovel the curbs of the intersections. I had plenty of energy. My right leg is, at least for the time being, w/o pain. Unfortunately, there are no comfortable shoes for this troll. i wish I could afford a treadmill. this way I could walk w/o shoes. ahh, another lifetime perhaps. FF

missed ya, ff...treadmills are one of those things that folks buy and after a while, try to get rid of...keep an eye on craigslist - you may be able to find one free or for a pittance...the steak sounds yummy!

hi lizzie, we're all friends here - don't feel you have to remain fully clothed on my account

i had a so-so weekend...ate a lot of salty stuff and was up to 211 yesterday after bottoming out at 206 on fri and sat...will have to really do well the next couple of days...it will be tough again from thurs to sun as one of my songwriter buddies will be up from nashville...

got my contingent of hb eggs at the ready, and i see salad in my future!

Yea, Lizzie!

I didn't lose today, but I wasn't expecting to - stayed the same.

ff-it will be a cold day in "you know where" when I eat an egg white omelet. What a waste of a good egg. Even Dr. Oz said, "if you want to lose weight, eat 2 eggs for breakfast" and he went on to explain that the yolk is fine - you don't get cholesterol from it - it's healthy to eat.

At work so I'll TTYL!

a fave meal of mine is ...

steak with 2 sunny side up eggs sitting on top. i think many of the WW folks do the egg white "mode" to stretch the limited points. I have had egg white omelets. They are also yummy, but are not necessarily healthy, because it its missing all those nutrients from the yolk. I have been informed that some genetic engineers are working to breed chickens that can lay yolkless eggs. FF

omg, ff, i'm not sure if you're joking about the yolkless egss, but i saw on the news that they are cloning a wooly mammoth from dna they found in a siberian glacier - jurassic park stuff - so nothing would surprise me!

hey lizzie, congrats on the water loss - hopefully, i'm gonna be doing that over the next couple of days :-)

marilee, are you serious? - there is no cholesterol in an egg?...hmmmm...that would make things easier as i am eating them at two meals a day right now...

I may have misquoted Dr. Oz on the cholesterol thing...but the bottom line is he said they wouldn't hurt us. He said something about - you don't get cholesterol from the food you eat but from the fat in your body.

Good Afternoon Everyone

Had a weird day yesterday, they called off work because of lack of equipment....so, I was unexpectedly at home.

I worked on my holiday plans and felt hungry all day...not real hunger, just the state of mind. I did pretty well aside from eating to much. But pretty much stayed on plan....I did scarf down to many mixed nuts, so I will not be weighing in until Friday!

Back on schedule today, NO mixed nuts!

What about... rollerskates!

Glad your leg is feeling a little better. Do you have an active freecycle community in your area (http://www.freecycle.org/)? I've used it to get rid of unused items, and I've noticed they sometimes have exercise equipment free to a good home.

Behave yourself !

Oooh, holiday planning is always good, HarlansHollowFarms, especially in the middle of the cold weather just now.

I had a slight change or routine today. Instead of following my usual pattern of eating my protein smoothie at 06:30 with my coffee and HWC when I'm still half asleep (I'm not a morning person and can't face proper food for an hour or so after I get up), I took it to work with me and had it there. It did mean, though, that I wasn't hungry at lunchtime. I was slightly hungry by about 2pm, and could have eaten a snack (but didn't have anything available).

I think I'm going to try this approach for a week or so and see how it feels - i.e. a later breakfast followed by an afternoon snack (some almonds, or cured meat or something). For years I never bothered with breakfast at all, and still ended up being a lard arse, so I'm keen to retain some sort of breakfast routine... just about an hour or so later.

Does anybody else have a problem facing food first thing in a morning?

i purposely try to postpone eating to as late as possible

on weekends (if possible)not before 12 noon. on work days, i have my bkfst at 10:15 am. i used to have it between 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 am. If i eat too early, i will use up my WW points too early in the day. I need to leave as many of my WW points for the evening as possible, when i need them the most. Once i get my home computer, I might even forget about food. But for now....Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

Hope everyone's having a good day today! I saw the posts about the egg/cholesterol thing. I'm a PhD candidate in biomedical sciences and I had to suffer through tons of confusing biochemistry courses. It seems that the egg is not as unhealthy as once thought! Dr. Oz was right about most of cholesterol being synthesized by our body. But, of course if you eat too much saturated and trans fats (the bad guys) it can lead to obesity, higher cholesterol levels, and heart disease.

artemis I drink alot of water too. I try and get 100 oz in dailey and if I slip up I'm bloated the next day. But the good thing is that I love water. But it's got to be ice cold.

lizzie wtg on the 2 lbs, I down 1 lb this morning after trying to fush out all the sodium, Now I hope it sticks.I never change my siggy until my loss stick for a few days.

I'm the same way as some you regaiding eating breakfast. Can't eat real early. But I get hungry around 10, and by then I don't feel like cooking. So the other day one of my friends of here gave this awsome recipe for sausage muffins ( sort of like little quiches) It's 10 eggs, browned crumbled sausage, 1/2 c. shredded cheese. Mix all together and pour into 12 muffin tins and bake 30 min or until they look dry. pop them out. They can be frozen or just kept in the fridg.

ff, so Hebrew National lies. Well, so does Pepsi, the company that makes Sobe Life Water. There are zero calories yet there are 6 grams of carbs per serving. If my memory serves me correctly, doesn't each gram of carb = 4 calories. Therefore, 6 grams = 24 calories per serving. Where does the zero come in?

Ingredients
FILTERED WATER, ERYTHRITOL, LEMON JUICE CONCENTRATE, NATURAL FLAVOR, CITRIC ACID, POTASSIUM LACTATE, CALCIUM LACTATE, BLACK CARROT JUICE CONCENTRATE (COLOR), REB A (PURIFIED STEVIA EXTRACT), MAGNESIUM LACTATE, ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C), NIACINAMIDE (VITAMIN B3), CALCIUM PANTOTHENATE (VITAMIN B5), GUM ARABIC, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B6), SEA SALT (SODIUM CHLORIDE), BETA CAROTENE (COLOR), CYANOCOBALAMIN (VITAMIN B12)

Glad you liked it. I reheated some yesterday for my 11 y.o. son and he thought it tasted like pizza. He asked if I wrote down the ingredients and I said "yes", at least on here anyways LOL. I have been known to come up with a concoction that can't be duplicated because I didn't write it down

I forgot to say that I added some leftover spaghetti squash that I had on hand. Kind of a sneaky way to serve veggies to kids.

happy to see everyone posting and doing well...had a good day yesterday:
b: hb egg
l: hb egg
s: none
d: broiled swordfish

the weather up here sucks, but i'm getting some exercise shoveling... :-)

i was dreaming about the ground turkey/cream cheese recipe last night - that's pretty sad when you think about it, but i'm gonna have to cook it soon so i can start having "normal" dreams again...vicki, i like the spaghetti squash idea!

apparently, we have another smarty pants, artemis :-) we are assembling quite a team here and between the lot, should be able to answer any questions that may come up... ("between the lot" was a phrase used to make clanger feel at home)... :-)

Good morning!

Happy to report that I'm down another 1.6 pounds for a total of 18 this month. I can't believe how it has changed me "inside-mental". I am so much more positive and confident and excited. Yea, the old me is coming back!!!

I'm at work so I have to run - I'll check in later.

re: sodium

i moderate my sodium, by not cooking with salt or adding it at the table. by adding spices, i never miss it. but i do allow myself the salt in chinese food, sausage, bacon etc. if i am going to have my pressure taken, then i abstain from the aforementioned within 72 hours of the office visit, and add add'l H2O to flush out whatever is still in there. On the subject of blood lipids, Dr. Atkins assures us that the dietary fat will not stick around, but be burned up for fuel. Ergo, except for a small percent of low carbers, blood lipid levels should not be problematic. I eat quite a bit of saturated fat. If it was really bad, i should be dead by now. (of course, the night is young and i am quite superstitious. )To answer your question, Tony8, i was born on the same day that Richard Wagner died Feb 13. Also the great Russian bass Feodor Chaliapin was born on 2/13 as well (going by the Julian calendar). My brother is planning some sort of bash. i hope it will involve STEAK. Nothing says birthday like a nice Birthday Steak. FF

well, i have 43 WW points saved for the evening.

i can blow them all on cheeseburgers, or i can have fish or roast chicken. i am weighing in tomorrow, so the question is:should i go light tonight or go with my guts? Frankly, I do not know the answer yet. Do any of you tend to ease up on the calories the day before weigh-in? Enquiring trolls need to know. FF

i'm at 210 today which means i am back to where i was at the start of this blitz...yippee!...with this kind of progress, i'll be at my goal weight in 2028... :-)

still hanging onto some water and i'm afraid my 206 weigh-in last friday was my "dehydrated" weight...no worries...i'll try not to stray too far this weekend with my buddy...

i think i'm a little too content at 210, for some reason, and until i feel enough discontent, its gonna be tough to get on a losing trajectory...
