hi ff, more inspiring behavior!...you certainly keep the bar high for the rest of us...do take it easy on your foot though...we don't want any injuries and this weather is a bit brutal right now...

weighed in at 211 yesterday and 210 today so i have a good shot at 210 tomorrow morning at my "official weigh-in"...if i make it, it will represent 35 lbs. lost in 35 weeks...i think that is the healthy pace that i am going to try to maintain for as long as possible...i see no reason i can't lose one pound a week...

it will get harder as each pound comes off, but the eating plan is getting more firmly entrenched every day and that makes it easier...my old woe is so far behind me in the rear view mirror, i hardly remember what it was...and i have no desire at all to eat that way anymore and THAT is a major accomplishment...

as we start the next blitz on jan 1, which will go until 3/31/11, we will be turning the corner toward one year...there is NO WAY on earth, i would fall off this wagon with spring in sight and our anniversary looming...that will be a major incentive and one which will really help me get to goal by summer...

i'm really looking forward to being able to take my shirt off without feeling self-conscious about it...it's been a long time!...i'm already looking decent, but i should be looking much more decent by beach season... :-)

know u will, tony8...know u will.

i think many of us benefitted from these Blitzes. I am enjoying a rare 2nd cup of joe...just for the helluvit-black, no sugar. It will give me the je ne sais quoi to finish the work day w/o going off the deep end. Last night, i had Chinese again: beef egg fu yung, small shrimp/broccoli, and a small order of ribs-ALL ATKINS-IZED. Tonight i will do the shrimp and the dreamfields. I still did not get in my daily quota of WW points yesterday. I certainly was not going to force feed myself just to reach my quota of 55 points. Of course, that number will gradually go down as my weight goes down. It did take more time for me to eat, using the chopsticks in my right hand. Tomorrow is the ritual of the PORKWALK, as I explained above. Food is still an extremely high priority in my life, and i make no apology for that. The trick is to eat what and how much I want within the ATKINS/WW parameters. It's working!!! FF

thanks for the vote of confidence!

ff, i LOVE chinese food...treat myself every once in a while to the buffet in town and select the LC stuff...still pretty salty, so i usually add a lb. or two of fluid for a day or two afterward...but it falls off quickly and it's worth it...

good for you for not pushing yourself to eat...i'm doing the same thing - i let my hunger dictate how much i eat and i've been able to really curtail my daytime eating, by eating several small snacks instead of any large meal - until supper...

today:
b: hb egg
l: hb egg
s: 5 cashews
d: salad and grilled chicken

small victory: i made a new hole in my belt today...funny, i measured it and it looks like i have lost 4 1/2 inches off my waist...although my pants size went from a 40 to a 34 (relaxed fit) - i was in a 42 at my heaviest...

where is everyone else?

there are no SMALL victories!!!

That is why they are victories. The PAWKWALK may be in danger. My right knee is not behaving well today. Well we shall see when the moment comes. the Gods are certainly having their entertainment. FF

hey vicki, how are you doing?...

i had a great day yesterday until the end...ate too much too late and i'm sure it will derail me from hitting my goal for the week...i had a slam dunk to get to 210 today - up til about 8 p.m. last night...ate on plan - turkey chili, stir-fry, salad - but was so hungry, i didn't follow the "eat slowly" rule or the "wait 20 minutes" rule or the "drink a lot of water" rule - any of which would have saved me... :-)

oh well, i will just do better today and plan to set 209 as a goal for this coming week anyway...not cutting myself any slack i don't deserve!...

be back later, after weigh-in...

good luck on the weigh-in, today.

i have a little challenge for myself this month. I would very much like to get below 300 lbs. before years end. Why, changing the subject, do i keep postponing the Dreamfields? I have never had any problems regarding stalling or portion control with Dreamfields. Well, I think it is because I am too tired (really lazy tired)when i get home from work. I just want to flop down, and do nothing, and order food in. And that is what i usually do. I think I should cook for the week on weekends (except for steak which must be eaten at the time of cooking). I'll try doing that. Oh, getting back to weigh-ins, mine is today at hign noon (w/o the Earps and the Clancys)Let the Gods be generous with us today!!! FF

Tony, congrats on the new hole in your belt! You've worked hard for that.

ff - I sincerely hope you achieve your goal of getting below 300. Wouldn't that be awesome?

This is a hard month. I have will power, but when I have to be strong for 3 weeks, it's hard! I work in the media department for an advertising agency and we have already started receiving goodies from our vendors and clients - cookies, yogurt covered pretzels, nuts, more cookies, etc. It's out all the time - yes, I've had 2 cookies. It could have been worse, but I'm disappointed in myself and it's only 12/9!!!!!

My Dr's office called to re-schedule my appointment and I told them that because it was only a weigh-in check, I wasn't going to do it until the end of February This is a horrible time of year for that kind of check-up and I'm not going to submit myself to that pressure - I have enough pressure in my private life right now to have to deal with that

Talk to you all later

i can understand wanting to postpone the weigh-in, Gibby.

no argument there. Please do not yield to stress eating. That will make your Feb 2011 weigh-in even more stressful. Time to start making or buying enough lowcarb treats to see you through the crisis. That is what this BLITZ is about; Not to be forgotten about when we log off. this is the time of year I feared most.Still, it is going smoothly, because i am 24/7 mindful. And, i deny myself NOTHING within the ATKINS/WW. Structure metaphorically saved my bacon. FF

You are right, ff! I need to put my thinking cap on for Atkins LC things to eat here at the office - deviled eggs, cream cheese stuffed celery, cheese and sausage , etc.

Why is sugar so compelling? Once I'm away from it for awhile, I don't miss it, but boy, once you have a bite, it turns into a giant craving monster

hey ff, a huge congrats on putting another pound of fat in the history books!...you're less than 8 lbs from 2derland!!!...way to go, boy!...

marilee, like ff says, one of the biggest tricks is getting the bad stuff out of the house and ignoring it at the office, while always having a wide variety of healthy and delicious options close at hand...

well, despite my late night foraging yesterday, i hit my weekly goal again and am now officially at 210!...i am so excited!...it's virgin territory during these blitzes and i couldn't have done it without y'all...THANK YOU!

our company christmas dinner is tonight - i got to select the menu and there are plenty of great choices...i'm really looking forward to it and can eat guilt-free now that i hit my goal...yea!

so, this week's goal is 209 - wish me luck - i haven't been that light in a light-year...

I don't have any "bad" food in the house, it's work that is a challenge. Oh, well - this weekend I'll go shopping and stock up on LC things for work.

wtg Tony8...

i am very happy for u. i decided to cut my sodium down a tad, for a while. along with the pawk, i am getting a container of STEAMED chinese veggies (enough for 3-4 times.)Also, i am getting 1 large and 1 small PAWK. Still enough for 3-4 times as well. What i do with the steamed is inundate it with spices, and a dash of hot mustard (just a dash-mustard has salt as well)for flavor. I could, and perhaps i will stirfry them in some buttah to enhance them even further. I will be dissappointed, if i cannot do the PAWKWALK. But what can u do when reality rears its ugly head. I will be seeing an orthopedic MD when the new year comes (after Jury duty which begins 1/3/11) I would not mind a few days there but not too long. Frankly, I believe in martial law. It would be very well run, if I was the head of justice in this country. NE RES PUBLICA QUID DETRIMENTI CAPERETUR (lest the commonwealth suffer any harm)FF

i'm feeling like this is a watershed period for me on this journey...it seems like i am finally getting in-tune with my body and how it works and what it needs for nourishment, and how to maintain a slow, yet steady weight loss...

i feel like i know what i weigh before i climb on the scale these days and i have to repeat that two of the best changes i made during these blitzes have been 1) the daily weigh-ins, and 2) the smaller, weekly goals...

after my disappointing results during blitz II, i knew something needed to be changed...accepting my lack of discipline was a bitter pill for me to swallow, but prior to that, i was deluding myself...i gave myself waaaaay too much credit for willpower...but the scale doesn't lie and i got my wake up call losing only 4 pounds in 3 months when i was still at least 40 pounds overweight...

i'm still a long way from where i need to be, but i feel like i am in control for the first time in many years...thanks to ff and all of you for sticking by me in the dark times over these past 8 1/2 months...i wouldn't be where i am without you...

so great, tony8, that u have found the right path.

neither willpower, or discipline are my strong suits. what is doing it for me, is my need not to be hungry at the wrong time. I am so busy at work, that i can leave food at my desk, and forget about it. When I got in this a.m., i still had 1/2 snapple (diet peach) sitting on my desk from yesterday. That is not the case at home. So, I save most of my points for the evening hours. On weekends, i do not touch solid food before high noon(usually later). And, i make every effort, to get away from home, and not come back till well into the afternoon. In the warm weather, (if it not raining), i stay outside in front of the house after dinner, till 10 or 11 pm. It is when I get inside, that i am reminded of food. Well, since April 1, I have been right more than I have wrong. btw, not only was there no PAWKWALK yesterday, there was no more PAWK. I will come back Sat, Sun, or Mon. It is official now, I cannot walk without a walking stick. So much for my youthful image. However, tomorrow, I am going to my sacred bakery, for a loaf of my low carb bread, 1 low carb muffin, and 1 low carb tiramisu. I will try to have 1/2 the muffin on Sunday, 1/2 on Mon, and the Tiramisu on Tuesday. The bread is for the workplace fridge. Monday, i am going back to BJs, with a bag, and bag me some thick porterhouse steaks. FF

hey ff, i'm betting you'll be walking much better by the time the weather warms up again...you are relieving the stress on your joints with every pound you lose and winter moderation will help your legs to heal...you have a lot of good things coming your way...

i'm with ya on the willpower and discipline...it's so clear to me now - don't know how i was looking in the nirror and convincing myself i had either :-)

i woke up hungry today which rarely happens...gonna drink some water and wait a bit and then eat some protein and very light...can't wait to see 209 on the scale one of these days and am working hard to get there by next thursday...

ff, so what do you do while you sit outside the house til 10 or 11 in warm weather?...talk to neighbors?...sounds nice - not too many folks do that anymore...do you have a porch?...comfy chair?...

be back in a bit...

hey buddy, just want to say thanks for being here...your commitment to these blitzes and to being here every day for those of us who need to be here every day has made a HUGE difference...

i'm wondering if you think you'll be around the next blitz as often?...without you, there would have been some pretty lonely times here over the past 8+ months... :-)

fear not!!!

I began Blitz I because i needed all the help in the world. That need has not lessened. We are all succeeding because we have one another. Now with this extra burden with the right hamstring, it is yet another source of frustration, and physical limitation. I am seeing an ortho m.d. at my hospital (FLATFERENGHI JEWISH MED CTR) on 12/20/10to find out exactly what is wrong, and how to fix it. I refuse any pharmaceuticals, especially any that may put a monkey wrench into my weight loss progress. Perhaps, there is a topical one available. I will ask him. And now for the practical advice part of this thread. What to do when the "off-plan" thoughts creep in, and refuse to leave. I get them too, but especially now that it is holiday time. Step 1. Play the thought through in your head. From sniffing the food, to mentally tasting and swallowing it, to imagining the nutrients (or, rather, lack of them)entering your bloodstream, your brain or organs. You will either feel satisfaction, or disgust, or desire for more. If more...then(step 2) it is time to get some fat into your snout a.s.a.p. OR (step 3)make, or buy a low carb version of the off-plan food of which you lust. Don't try to "white knuckle" it. it is not worth the risk. Holiday time is when the Low Carb FRANKENFOODS really come into their best application. Hence my pilgrimage to the shrine of OUR LADY OF THE LOW CARB CHEESECAKE. I have spoken. FF

ff, thanks for the reassurance...i seem to be the neediest among us :-)

good luck with the hamstring...most often they require rest...maybe a little stretching...i'm sure the doc will have some better advice than i can give...at least you'd better hope so!...

good advice on the off-plan craving...this is a tough time of year, for sure...did you see that thing on the news today?...said that they did a study and found that folks who imagined eating what they were craving, rather than actually eating it, consumed 50% fewer calories...i'm gonna have to look up that study...don't think my taste buds are that easy to trick!

hi marilee, good to see you today...hope you're having a good one...
