nothing new today!!!

just called in to say hi!!! Weigh-in tomorrow. If I did not know better, I would think I might have lost an inch on my waist. My latest pants which were taken in are not as snug as the others were when I had them taken in last month. My body is very slow in the inches lost dept. as well as the scale dept. It is just a matter of enjoying the food and allowing time for the miracle to happen. FF

FF, maybe you did lose another inch. My inch-lost stats make me even happier than my pounds-lost stats.

I went to an election day party last night. Since it was Tuesday, I didn't eat during the day, but did eat at the party between 9 and 11PM. Was relatively good. Had a burger, almonds. Then a friend and I split "jack sprat" pizza -- i.e., she ate the crust and tom sauce and cheese, and I picked the pepperoni off the top and ate it. Stayed up very late, and stuck to water and diet coke.

well, i am feeling good.

regardless of what the scale says today. I got a call from B & N saying that they have a cd that i asked about. I can pick it up Monday (i am off Monday). It consists of arrangements of Waltzes by the Strauss family, Lanner, and others for small ensembles. The arrangements are by the 2nd Viennese composers known for atonal music. But these are NOT atonal. I already have one of them. But this one has ROSEN AUS DEM SUEDEN (Roses fron the South)arranged by Arnold Schoenberg. It has a harmonium in it. If that was the only piece on the disc, it would still be worth the $18.95 plus tax. If u want to put the kibosh on stress, u would do well to get yourselves some Viennese waltzes. Much better for us than SACHERTORTE( another great Viennese invention). Come to think of it, wouldn't it be nice if some enterprising person developed a low carb version of SACHERTORTE? Nah. too much to hope for. FF

Weight has been holding steady for weeks now...but I can feel that my clothes are fitting differently. I can actually button my jeans without causing internal bleeding.

FF...I'll bet you anything that Cleo has invented some sort of torte involving the oopsie roll! Enjoy your de-stressor.

Good luck today for all that are weighing in.
I am leaving for NC (will be in your part of the country LC!) to visit the MIL until Wednesday. I plan to be on plan...and I am grateful that my MIL is supportive. There will be plenty of pasta and desserts, but she is making an effort to have things that I can eat. What I have to be careful of is the long ride home. After an event is when I usually am at my weakest. I plan to be diligent!!!!

I am a bit frustrated at myself. I am trying on clothes that fit last year but don't now due to my 15 lb wt gain. I refuse to buy larger clothes since I donated to the Goodwill Store. ARGH!!

hey kbeth, have a great trip!...and good luck on the ride back - maybe pack a cooler with some LC snacks!...

ff, thanks for the music advice...and good luck with the weigh-in today...

well, the digital scale flickered at 214, but each time i got on it, it settled at 213...so i must be on the higher end of 213...that's a 3 lb. loss for the week and 5 lbs. down over the last two...seems like the eternal stall is easing up a bit...

i have to keep in mind that i am barely 1 lb. lighter than i was when i got back from nashville in mid-september, so i'm not too proud of myself, but after hitting 222 a few weeks ago, i think i deserve an ice cram - JUST KIDDING!!!...but it's a good comeback and totally different from what has happened in my past :-)

raining pretty good here today...be back a little later...

hey, i just did the math, and since i started blitz I a week late, i have lost 32 pounds in 30 weeks - of course, i lost 23 in the first 12 weeks...shhhhh :-)

vicki, please don't be discouraged or frustrated...we've all been where you are, and as i'm sure you know, you just have to close the door on the last bad year, month, day, even meal...remember, we are always just one good choice away from starting down the right road...

and you have all of us for support and to cheer you on...i would be 30 pounds heavier if it weren't for my great friends here...YOU CAN DO THIS!...

well...i finally did it.

0.8 lbs down. that is enough to give me a total of 60 lbs down (60.4 to be precise.)from 372.8 to 312.4. Today's WW meeting was about upping the metabolism (i.e. doing activity). I must stop thinking about it, and start doing it. there are plenty of in-house exercises I can do with my shoes off (yes...THAT too. I know what y'all are thinking ). So tonight I begin. FF

in for a penny in for a (ahem)pound!!!

i will start by "getting off" on the 4th floor and walking the rest of the way. I live on the 7th floor. If that is not difficult enough, tomorrow I will get out on the 3rd floor. Plus there are all sorts of things I can do in my house to music and videos. Tonight, i eat pork. FF

Congrats on the losses, FF and Tony!

Vicki, don't get discouraged. You'll be back in the smaller clothes. Do whatever helps. Post your menus, exercise, frustrations, whatever. Just stick with us.

FF, someone on another thread mentioned LC carrot cake, a concept that boggles my mind. So maybe there is LC sachertorte. You never know...

Kbeth, are you coming to God's country (western NC) or the less beautiful part of the state, the flatlands? Ask your mum-in-law that. It will drive her crazy. Seriously, though, it's great that she's trying to support you.

no more nuts or seeds for this nut...

hi all,

congrats on the inches and pounds gone!
vicki, i've been where you are. i bought just a few thingss that i could get a lot of use out of and feel good in. ithink it's important to feel comfortable in my clothes and nothing dampens the spirit like trying to squeeze into clothes that don't fit.

on a positive note, i fit into a pair of jeans today that i couldn't wear for nearly SIX years. that was a high. and if i stick with this, i'l be slipping into them again soon (felt a bit sausage-like today, but hey, they fit!!)

regarding the nuts and seeds, give me an inch and i'll take a mile! i'm still on the anti-candida protocol, but on the "allowed" list are a few types of nuts and seeds. plus, as i'm within 5-10 pounds of my goal weight i'm also moving up the atkins "rungs" in OWL. the first rung is more veggies, which ive already been doing. the second is more dairy which i'm not having for the anti-candid thing. the third is nuts and seeds. my heart skipped a beat at the prospect of enjoying these goodies, but alas... i can not yet handle them. one is too many and a million not enough. maybe i'll try again at some point, but i'll tell you guys first. oh, flaxseeds are fine for me though. for some reason they have no power over me, maybe fewer carbs than other nuts/seeds.

tomorrow's food:
breakfast: 1 egg, T flax seed, cinnamon, T coconut oil, green smoothie (spinach, celery, cucumber, water, and stevia) plus supplements
lunch: turkey wrapped in romaine, string beans with liquid braggs, smoothie, T coconut oil, and supplements
dinner: chicken and yellow squash, salad, mayo, smoothie and supplements

supplements and pau d'arco tea in beween meals. no more cashews!

oh, and kbeth, have a great weekend! i know what you mean about the car ride home. have done that SO many times. i think i'm finally starting to realize that having what everyone else has is the deprivation and abstaining is the gift. hoping that will sink in someday soon...

so glad it is Friday!!!

I am making a pilgrimage to my LOW CARB bakery this weekend. I will be thinking of you all while I am enjoying my low carb gelato, or cheesecake, or charlotte rousse, or muffin, or tiramisu. I have not quite made up my mind yet. I will do as much walking in that direction as is possible before my feet raise the white flag. Y'all have a great ON PLAN WEEKEND. Remember that when u begin to have off-plan thoughts, eat something on plan and fatty a.s.a.p. It is too easy to succumb to the dark side of the force.I speak from experience, too much of it. FF

hey ff, have fun at the bakery...i'll try to taste the chocolate vicariously through you...lol...

mama, your menu sounds delicious and your attitude is perfect - happy to hear you sqeezed into your jeans...don't you know us guys LOVE when you girls wear tight jeans???...

i'm able to control my nut intake, but they are high in calories so a few go a loooong way :-) there are other things i can't handle though, and i am staying away from those...

i've been debating my goal for this week...after losing 5 lbs. over the last two weeks, i am thinking my body will need to recover this week and where i barely made 213 on thursday, i should be happy if i could maintain that this week...so i was thinking of setting this week up as a maintenance week, but maybe not...

i think it's better to set a goal to lose a pound and miss it, than set a goal to maintain...so i'll shoot for 212 this week and see what happens...i can handle the disappointment if i don't make it...i'm beyond going into a tailspin right now :-)

well, we know kbeth is gone til wednesday, ff til tuesday - what's everyone else up to?...

I'm here and after struggling to get the couple pounds off (from the weekend) I'm finally
down another pound loss, so I'm down 18 total now. Very happy about this, if I can drop another 1/2 lb through the weekend I'll be on track. Shouldn't be too hard as I don't have any entertaining or socializing going on. Going to go swimming today.

Food yesterday--
B-smoked wild salmon (about 3 oz.)--just made a bunch of this myself with no sugar (used xylitol) it turned out really good.
L-chicken broth with asian greens, shitake mushroom, red pepper and "tofu" noodles (low carb) also a few shrimp--this was a great lunch!
Snack-hard boiled egg
D-grass fed steak(6 oz) and small salad ( had a little blue cheese crumbles)

As you can see I'm eating really well and losing so I'm feeling very happy right now. Have a good weekend everyone!

vicki...i feel your pain!!!

regret is a very fattening and self-defeating emotion. The past is the past. I wish I could buy clothing at a Good Will store but who carries 4x sizes? I will repeat what has worked for me. Accept reality. Accept that it takes no time at all to put the weight back on. And it seems to take forever to get the weight off. SO BE IT. The trick is to surround myself and partake in deliciously rich low carb eats, and great music. I have accepted reality, and it is working for me. I have lost 1/2 the weight that I did 3 yrs ago in the same amount of time. I do what exercise i can. I take my vitamins. I let the magic happen in its own time. I am not going to put myself about(and risk deprivation) just to speed things up. I am not of the sort who eats to live. I am of the sort that i live to eat (well, most of the time). i love food. i love talking about food. Pity I am not that good a cook, or I would have my own show on the FOOD channel. wow, jenny, 18lbs!!!...you are doing great and thanks for sharing your menu - it always makes me hungry but gives me some great ideas :-)

ff, everything you said is right on, bro...thanks for being here!...

the scale said 215 this morning, so 212 has all of a sudden become a much more aggressive goal for the week...but i'm sticking with it...THE SCALE SUCKS! :-)

i can only do what i'm doing and be patient - i learned that from ff...lol...

OK, I broke down and bought some clothes at Goodwill. I agree with lovelifemama, I need clothes that I can feel attractive in and not continue to beat myself over the tight clothes. That is a bit self defeating.

ff, you can do it. I wore 4X a long time ago too.

Tony, the scale does suck. I have gone from weighing daily to once a week to denial. I am not sure what is the best.

jfinch, 18 lbs is awesome!

LC, I feel as though I am getting closer to grabbing a hold of this thing and getting back on track.

Hey kids,

Long time no see. I'm been gone for about three months now. I've been traveling, soul searching, back sliding, charging forward, and maintaining. Surprisingly, I'm only about 3 pounds above where i was when I left. I'm at 273 right now. I was down to 270 after a 3 week road trip I'd undertaken, but when I got back i was so poor I was living on 1,000 of ramen a day. That was not fun. I'm back in the swing of things and really enjoying life right now. If you'll have me, I'm glad to be back.

Cheers,

hi guys,
hope everyone's having a great weekend...

i had another good, on-plan day today...

i've been studying the physiology of weight loss - doing a lot of reading...very interesting stuff and learning things i never knew before...read an article yesterday by a doctor from italy - it was so complicated that i really had to be diligent to understand what he was saying...

stressed the importance of slow weight loss and exercise so you don't lose too much lean muscle which makes it harder to lose and to maintain once you get to goal...so i should be patient and shoot for that 1/2 pound to one pound per week...

don't forget to turn the clocks back tonight :-)

Hey guys,

It seems the last of my water weight has dropped off. The scale has read 267 two days running. I'm feeling pretty dehydrated, so I'd imagine I'll gain back a pound or two. Either way I'm ecstatic. I haven't seen the 260's in years. The first day I figured it was a major fluke because I'd spent an hour and a half the day before grappling and then I went out to a birthday party that night. The drinks flowed like wine, but were in fact all lowcarb liquors and beers. The following morning when I saw 267 I was flabbergasted, but assumed it would go away. That it stuck around after a full day of eating salty foods and drinking a ton of water blows my mind.

Tony: Thanks for the warm welcome back, it means a lot.

Vicki: There's nothing worse than walking around in too tight clothing. You feel awful all day. Don't think of these new ones as purchases. Think of them as a loan. A few weeks from now you'll be bringing them back to that goodwill in triumph.

Cheers,

Also, Tony, emoticons are expressly forbidden by the Camp Charlie bylaws. I find I have a hard time making myself use them even when I'm not posting to Camp C.

great advice adam, and congrats on seeing the 260s, bro!...really good to have you back!...

it's funny how different things work for different people, based on our personalities...as i've said before, i am learning so much about myself during these blitzes and the tactics i need to employ to get the best results...one huge thing for me has been the daily weigh-ins...i used to hate the idea of it and thought that once a week was plenty often enough, but for me, i was wrong...it gave me too long a leash and i used to feel like i could cheat and then lose what i gained before next week's weigh-in...I WAS WRONG!...

the other benefit to daily weigh-ins was that it helped me understand how much my weight could fluctuate over a few days and then i could evaluate why...in the past, if i spiked or plateaued, i might get discouraged and quit...not this time because i am learning the causes and it gives me the hope and strength to keep at it...

here's my weigh-in results the past 4 days: 213, 215, 215, 213...when i was at 215 for 2 days, i didn't panic, but i was a little more careful and my weekly goal of 212 is still within reach...

which leads me to my next breakthrough: setting a weekly goal...for me, this is helping me so much more than just setting a 13-week overall blitz goal...a big part of it is the accountability and the fact like i feel like i have more control over what happens over a 7 day period, than i do a 90-day period...again, just my personality...

i guess i'm suggesting that when things are going well, stick with what you are doing and when they are not, try to evaluate things you can change other than JUST your diet...for me, changes in when i was weighing in and in trying to achieve smaller, weekly goals helped me more than a further restriction in my woe...

i'll check in later...

Adam, I like your advice. The clothes are only a loan. Cool.
