Anyone have any good remedies for water retention?

vli1127 06-29-2010 05:42 AM

I am getting ready for vacation and will be cleaning out the refrig. I am taking the rest of the salad, raw veggies, HB eggs, etc. I am going to cook up the bacon and I made a dozen flax muffins. Granted, we are going to be staying in motels that have expanded continental breakfast, but we know what that is . . . . carbs up the ying yang. So, I am going prepared.

vli1127 06-29-2010 03:51 PM

Come on Linda, pull yourself up by the bootstraps woman. You can do it.

Gibby 06-30-2010 07:52 AM

Good morning, everyone!

Another hot one in Phoenix today 111 - it was 111 yesterday and it will be 111 tomorrow, too. Do I see a trend? I can't wait for our summer rain to come - then it will cool off to 105

I got good news from the doctor. My mammogram came back normal and my lungs are fine! Now just waiting for the EKG, blood and pee pee test results.

Linda-I know it's hard. I like structure to, which is why I like what I'm doing.

I've been faithful to plan - yea! I kind of like that reporting on a monthly basis - it's nice to see a firm number instead of the weekly up and down action.

Well, I'd best get back to work. Have a great day, my cyber friends.

Princessdmw33 06-30-2010 11:14 AM

Gibby - good news!!!
Denmw -:hugs:

I finally am seeing the 150's. I started eating this way at the end of November and did not weigh myself until the beginning of January where I weighed 169. I have bounced back and forth for months and until this month I stopped bouncing and have been slowing going down. I am a daily weigher and have been logging it since the beginning of June to see if there is some sort of trend going on. Finally today I weighed in at 159.50 and am claiming it. I can officially say that I have lost 10 pounds since January.

I also know that I started out a size 14 and can now fit into 10's. I recently bought 3 different brand names of size 10's and fit into all of them. So I guess it is true that you can lose inches and slowly lose weight.

Gibby 06-30-2010 01:44 PM

Linda, I'm doing a modified version of Nutrisystem. I'm eating their entrees, but instead of adding carbs like they want, I'm adding protein instead. It isn't as strict LC as Atkins or others that you all are on, but it's low according to "the world". The carbs NS uses in their entrees are low-glycemic, so that helps.

tay65 06-30-2010 03:16 PM

I didn't know a new thread was started already! I am definitely in! :)

DENMW 06-30-2010 04:01 PM

Hi Tay - glad you found us :D

Wacko 07-01-2010 01:39 PM

Hi ladies!:hiya:

I'd like to join in if possible.:D

I've been a bit lazy lately and not doing any exercise or drinking enough water, so I'm upping the ante a bit this month and my goals are to exercise for at least 30mins a day and drink at least 2litres of water every day for the whole month, in the hope that I can lose 10lbs and get to onederland by August 1st.

Gibby 07-01-2010 02:21 PM

:welcome: Wacko!

I notice you live in Scotland. Beautiful country! A long time ago, I visited the British Isles for a month and fell in love....my ancestry is Scots, Irish, English.

Princessdmw33 07-01-2010 02:22 PM

DENMW 07-01-2010 04:17 PM

Welcome Wacko. Can we get your real name as I'm sure you are not a wacko:D;) sounds like you have some good goals.

I got another GS sponsor today who seems really nice. I'm feeling hopeful again.

misty1028 07-02-2010 04:15 AM

:welcome: Wacko

Linda glad you found a nice new sponser.

Well now that the 4th of July weekend is here, I'm going to plan ahead what I'll be eating. Off to the grocery store early so I can beat the crowds.

Gibby 07-02-2010 07:11 AM

Happy Fourth of July everyone!

It's going to be 115 today and then "cool down" to 108 for the weekend. I am going to stay inside and read the latest book by one of my favorite authors, Janet Evanovich's "Sizzlin' Sixteen". The title seems to be appropriate for our heat.

What is everyone else up to?

Got to get to work - BBL

Princessdmw33 07-02-2010 09:29 AM

Hi everyone.

It is going to be a beautiful weekend here and even bordering on hot for us. It is no 115 but 90 is hot for this part of the country especially where a big majority of us do not have air conditioning. The saving grace for us is that they are calling for it to be low humidity which is wonderful!

I am planning on painting some today in my sunroom before a busy weekend. Today is my Dh's birthday, tomorrow we have a wedding and graduation party and Sunday we are having family over. It will be a fun but tiring weekend.

slimlizzie 07-02-2010 10:19 AM

What's your address? I'm coming over :kicking:

tay65 07-02-2010 03:50 PM

Hi Wacko! :hiya: THAT is one funny name!

I haven't been on bc my internet has been wacko! :hyst: Ok, no more....

But I did have to call AT&T and complain about my wireless. Its hopefully fixed now.

I want to go to the casino tonight....but I know I'll have a drink or two if I do go. So, should I or shouldn't I? I don't know.

As of now, we have no plans for the 4th. Probably just cook here and I'll go buy some fireworks for the kids. Hubby included!

Sounds like you all have good plans for the weekend. Its suppose to be 90* here for the next couple days. Looks like I'll be indoors for the day. I just can't take the heat like when I was young. There was no humidity here either in PA. Nice day today! :)

Gibby 07-02-2010 04:27 PM

Hey Tammy, what part of Pennsylvania are you in?

I lived in Monroeville, which is about 30 miles outside of Pittsburgh from 4th grade through high school graduation.

tay65 07-02-2010 05:25 PM

Hi! I'm 30 miles South of Pgh. I'm an hr away from Monroeville. I've only been there a couple times. My dd has friends there though who she met in college (CAL).
