House full last night......nice visit with DH's Aunt and Uncle......My MIL was quite annoying and when I have time and privacy will write more!

All I can say is it is ALWAYS all about my SIL and her kids......(her DD).

I have a SHORT week, no pun intended. Teacher convention in WI TH/FRI, and always have taken those two days off when the kids were in school - DD22 will be off from student teaching, so we have plans Thursday (and our first Martini night of the new season) and my BFF from MN comes on Friday!

Hope to be walking this morning; friend seems to be better, then a school group on campus this morning!

DEBBIE - SO proud of you! I canNOT even imagine!

MK - drive safe!

Yeah, Kelly - why didn't you go to U2????

Kaye - empty house today? Can you stay home?

Becky - how did the dinner turn out?

Have a great Monday all!

Woo Hoo! Kids out the door. Pot of 'good' coffee running. Made DH run to the store last night to get milk so I didn't have to leave today.
Will make the paper plates last another day....

Cindy I LOVE annoying MIL stories!

I really need to get some stuff done here, really let it slide the last few. Not only because I didn't feel great, but I really seem to have a hard time getting things done with everyone here underfoot and distracting.
My stomach seems mostly back on track today so hope to be productive.

Deb, hope you're not too sore today. Your feeling of pride should dull any soreness!

MK, have fun today and safe travels for tomorrow.

Becky, what do you have to sew? Halloween costumes?
(I'd better see what we have to throw together here for this weekend)

Kelly, It has to be a REALLY special concert for me to travel to a large venue. Really dislike the 'tens of thousands of people trying to get in and out at the same time' traffic thing. I would have taken the extra kids at my house instead of wanting to go too!

*Big Waves* to our MIA Shorties who need to check in and let us know how they are!

Hey! My fresh ground, special, 'good' coffee is done. Mmmm smells great!

Morning girls,

Man oh man, I'm ready for HS water polo season to wind down, today is the last early Monday practice, there are no weights Tues/Th, so I think after this week, DS16 will get to sleep to the late, late time of 6:20 am until HS swim season starts anyway.

Mostly busy weekend as usual, had book club Friday morning, took a group of kids to the park Friday afternoon (I sat in the shade and played on FB on my phone while they played and had fun) Saturday, DS16 went with team mates for go-carts,mini-golf, video games, etc. (they all got kicked off the go carts more than once they were so proud, he has the new Galaga high score, and a team mate won enough tickets to get the bike, instead he spent it all on candy which he shared) the rest of us went out to lunch, ran errands, etc. (including a trip to the mall for an adapter at the apple store with a shoe dept. detour, I got a really cute pair of red ballet flats)
Saturday night was DS16's dance (more below), Sunday up early to get the open water swim going (in the bay) then from there to DS12's games, with a few stops on the way home for stuff, then the extra kid...

So, the dance (someone walk me through posting pics here again and I'll put one up for Kaye since the rest of you are on FB and I put some there already)
Thursday was the last day to buy tickets ($60, not cheap, and no, it didn't include food!) so, DS16 comes in at lunch trying to get the perm. slip to print so he can buy a ticket, I sign it, he writes a check, he goes in to get the ticket, the lady gives him and his friend a hard time, but in the end sells them a ticket.
He tells me I'm driving him over, picking him up (just him, no friends with him, not going to dinner...) I say, its always more fun to go with a friend, so I call the mom of the kid that also bought his ticket at the last minute, offer to drive both boys, does she want to split the drive? So, we are all set, we go out to get new clothes, DS16's phone rings, its his friend, wants to know if they want to go with a bigger group to dinner (hard rock cafe) and to/from the dance with them.
So, it went from dateless and going alone, to going with a friend, to DS16, his friend & 5 girls. They all seemed to have a really good time.
I'm always amazed when I see them all dressed up. One of the girls, (she even introduced herself) I asked DS16 who she was in the pics and when he told me (she only said her first name) I was like WOW, since normally I see her with her hair in a ponytail, no make-up, and in sweat pants/sports uniform of some sort.

Kaye, I'm a great big wimp, I fall asleep by 9 on a good day, so it has to be something really fun to get me out of the house! (and, I wouldn't even want to deal with traffic in LA late at night, YIKES)
Glad you are feeling better!

Debbie, YOU ROCK! So proud of you!

Cindy, enjoy your walk, and yes, do share when you get the chance.

MK, I'm not sure you would want to live here, it gets a lot chaotic at times! (DH is now encouraging DS16 to organize a regular poker night here, he said weekly, I said, they don't have that much free time, make it once a month)

Thanks to all my wonderful shorty friends. I loved that you followed me and cheered me on from afar. I still can't believe I did it but I feel it today. Just like you do when you workout for the first time after not doing so. Stairs and getting up and down from sitting not so great.

We are both off today. We let our youngest take my car to school. I will worry every minute. He had the car all weekend too. I have trouble with this whole thing but he has to grow up and I have to let him.

This is the kid who can't get himself out of bed in the morning. He needs to be reminded to shower and brush his teeth.

We are going car shopping today. I need a new car and he will get mine. I have to call and get him on my insurance. I am looking at Hondas. My Civic runs well and I haven't had to much money in to it. I hate the thought of car payments and insurance increases. I do know the amount I am paying to our Visa month after month could buy me a nice Mercedes or BMW so we need to stop our crazy spending.

Cindy is your company gone? Is your daughter better??

MK, how was your mom visit? Did you say she is moving into a different apartment??

Kaye, are the girls back in school yet???

Becky, you over being sick? Lots of flu going on here and you are around all those little kids who don't wash their hands or cover their mouths and noses.

Kelly, hope you don't have too busy a day. seems you are always busy!!!

U2 was here and my son went and loved it.

Off to check out cars. I want a Honda CRV but also will look at Accords and Civics. I want to see what kind of deal we can get. It is a racket with these car dealers. My husband will drive a hard bargain.

Debbie, I'm impressed that you can go up and down the stairs, get out of the chair, etc...
There are some great safe, little cars out there! It sounds like your DS is doing great and adjusting well to his new schedule!
I don't have too much on my calendar today, DS12 has an ortho appointment and I promised him a trip to toys r us afterward. Otherwise, I'll catch up on all the laundry that spontaneously generated over the weekend. LOL

Morning!

I've missed you all!

What a great visit! - a winery, apple orchard, cute little town for lunch, a walk along one of the lakes, a walk through campus, a play. . . . .

We also went the the Hercules Candy Factory in East Syracuse. Amazing candy!

Can't wait to see what everyone's up to!

Cindy - so jealous you have a MN friend coming to visit! It should be me! *humph* or even more fun - us!! *cheer*

I'm exercising this morning and then staying home - so much to do!

DS17 did amazing home all alone! What a mature guy!

Well, MK - my BFF from MN may NOT be coming; she has been fighting the *swine* and is still not well!

So.....it's up in the air right now......we are formulating "Plan B".

We's rather she wait till she is well.

working! yuck but have to make money to pay for my new car!! Got another Honda Civic. It is bigger and nicer then my old one. My son is off driving and it scares me to death. It is raining today for example. He must drive to work and that is a long ride and come home in the dark from there. I worry but have to let him grow up.

My husband informed me yesterday as I was telling him I would run with him at our Half Marathon in Las Vegas in 5 weeks that we will be renewing our vows at mile 3.5 with the running reverend and how ever many others who will be joining us in doing the same thing. Good thing I came to the conclusion that I would run slow with him and not race this one.

Better go get ready for work.

I still hurt but only when I get up and down and do the stairs.I plan on running tomorrow night. It will help get rid of the built up lactic acid in my muscles making them sore.

Last night was our program banquet. It was really special. I can honestly say I have made many new friends and running connections I hope last for years. It was a great night and I hate that the program is over but many of us will be doing Speed Development in January and running together on the weekends.

MK, Syracuse is beautiful in the fall as long as it isn't snowing or raining.

Cindy, when do they leave??

Kelly, where are those photos? are they on FB yet?

Kaye, sounds like you have the kind of day I would like right now. I am working and have so much to catch up on here.

Becky, what is up with grandchild having tests you mentioned on FB??

Barb saw the pumpkin photo on FB.You need to post it here for those not on FB( Kaye I think you are the only one by the way).

Up and around here. A little worried because I feel headachey and congested.... Really don't want this to turn into anything...

Cindy, I hope your friend feels well enough to come, but she also wouldn't be up to much fun if she doesn't feel good during the visit...
DD almost better?

MK, so glad you're home safe and DS17 did well on his own. A relief, and now you can plan more trips without him!

Deb, Congrats on the new car! Come spring we'll have to start looking too.

This is SO ROMANTIC!
DH and I got married in Vegas, so that's always a special place for us.

And don't worry about me being the lone holdout for Facebook. Pictures usually take too long to load for me anyway. Maybe someday soon we'll get access to faster, affordable connections, in the meantime we'll trudge along out here in RuralWorld!

Want to get some stuff done here so I can possibly take a nap later, combat what I hope is not cold or flu coming on.....

sure hope you aren't getting sick Kaye.

I have to leave soon and don't want to. Then again I get to drive my new car. It is feels great for a little car. Being a shorty I like small cars. I drove the CRV which isn't big but the head rests in the back obstructed my rear view when I turned to look in the blind spot and the brakes were very touchy. I thought that was the car I wanted but the Civics panel in the front is nicer and the ride is better to me. I don't need to sit up that high and I don't really need a bigger trunk/ hatch space most of the time. The Civic not only will cost me a bit less each month in the payment but it is much better on gas. Do you notice gas prices have gone up again.

Morning girls,

We had a fun unplanned evening, the power went out around 7:30 (after dinner, kitchen was mostly clean...) so, as we are all forced to not watch tv, play online, play x-box, whatever... DH lit tea candles all over the house and DS12 pulled out monopoly. We didn't finish the game, but its still on the table, so maybe we'll finish it tonight. (after the water polo games)

Debbie, yep, the pics are on FB, I uploaded them Saturday night. (if someone will give me a reminder of how to, I'll put them here for Kaye)
Congrats on the new car! Gas prices stay high here (thanks to our additional state taxes)
AND, renewing your vows, how romantic!

Kaye, hope you aren't getting sick. My BIL also lives in rural world, so I understand the connection issues. Mostly, they both check email online.

Cindy, we always enjoy the Halloween movies too. I'm sure lying around watching syfy is helping.

MK, sounds like you had a great trip!

Becky,

Morning!

I think I'll walk today too!

Got a call from Mom's place yesterday. They did a 30 day evaluation and she's going to need more services. I don't think they'll cost more at this point though.

Cindy - sorry about your friend. I know you were looking forward to it!
Have you seen Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog?

I'm glad DD is finally feeling better!

Yes glad your daughter is feeling better Cindy. I took care of one very sick man yesterday and I am glad my son was never that sick. He was sent home but he felt horrible.

I just ran 2 miles. I wanted to get the pain out of my legs and I think It worked. I am working 4 hours today and probably will be orienting a new grad again. I did it for 8 hours yesterday. Plus I had a PA who was working her first shift after one day of orientation. I felt like I was orienting her too. It was not an easy day and I was exhausted. I picked up my friend Barbara on my way to dinner (Tuesday/Th running gang) and brought her home. She was on my way from the hospital and a little out of my way from dinner but she was going to skip it since it was raining. She can drive but is still on a crutch. Went right to bed to watch taped SYTYCD and fast forwarded through that and it was still after 11 when I fell asleep. I think I would have been asleep sooner if I wasn't trying to stay awake through the show.

I was going to go to track tonight but my 13 year old nephew( Bar Mitzvah boy from SF) is in town with his class. He goes to a private school and they are on a class trip. Tonight they are eating at a kosher deli near us( 20minutes) and we are going to see him there and have dinner I guess. It is a hebrew day school and they have been eating dinners at kosher restaurants in the area. He isn't kosher but school rules. So he is calling me later to tell me when to meet them. Could be 5:30 or could be 7. I am willing to change my plans and flexible.

Youngest is off to school in my old car yet again. My baby is growing up.

See you all later when I get home from a true 4 hour princess shift. I have one easy week and then back to normal after this weekend I will be back to Sunday 12 hour shifts and 28 hour weeks. Four more hours a week should help pay my new car payment.

Morning all (well, it still is here anyway!) HS water polo season is winding down, playoffs start in 2 weeks. They have a big game this afternoon which will probably determine how they are seated for playoffs (could be 1-3 depending on today and one of next week's games, next week is the last week of the regular season)

I have actually been watching what I eat and exercising for the last couple of weeks and amazingly, the scale is down about 5 lbs. (funny how that happens huh?) So, only 20 more to go to be back to where I feel most comfortable, however, only 2.5 more before my BMI moves from overweight to healthy. I think I'm motivated enough this time to continue and get (and stay) back to maintaining a comfortable weight/size.

Okay, enough of that, not like this is a diet, woe website or anything,

Debbie, it sounds like your DS is doing great! Enjoy seeing your nephew, I'm sure that will be fun!

MK, for the mom stuff.

Cindy, a ME day, what is that???? Glad your DD is feeling better, and maybe she'll rest (some) even though she is back at school.

Kaye, did ya get all the bread swapped out?

Becky,

Me too!

Actually, around lunch time!
Supposed to be a beautiful day here, last one for a while with rain and colder moving in.
Had to spend a good amount of time cleaning out my car yesterday, got in it for work in the morning and it smelled really bad. One of the kids had spilled something that was in the milk family. EW
We'll see in a minute if I fixed it!

Have a good Thursday all and I'll cya later...

WOE: mindful eating/running off the pounds
Start Date: over and over again
I am getting my hair cut at 10am. I have groceries to buy and lots of laundry to put away.Plus have uniforms to iron. I think that is it for my day. Having my son driving helps a lot. I am nervous about him though.

I also have phone calls to make and things I have let go with all the training. I am running tonight for sure. I feel back to normal. I did my whole workout this morning including the legs so I am back to my normal morning exercise routine with alternating leg days.

Cindy, have a fun night.

I will be eating dinner and watching the Yankees again.Pray they win.

MK, weren't you just with mom? How long does it take you to drive to her new place?? Glad you had a good time in Syracuse. It is such a long drive to go there. I think I would fly. Did you stay at the hotel on Campus(Sheraton)?

Kaye, hope the smell is gone. I have that new car smell going on.

Becky, I think your new grand daughter is going to look like her sister.I saw the photos over on FB.

Kelly, what you up to today?? Do you ever have a nice quiet day where no one needs you?? I guess being a mom those days don't exist much. Oh and congrats on the weight loss. You are on your way!!!!
