WHOLE WAY TO LIVE AND EAT

WELCOME TO OUR THREAD!There are countless ways to lose weight but most can be characterized as healthy and unhealthy. If your plan is to eat healthy and exercise, this thread is for you. If your plan is to drink champagne in the morning and afternoon while starving yourself (yes, there is a champagne diet!), then you’ve come to the wrong place.

Vince Gironda, the most famous Hollywood trainer to the stars, said that a great body is 85 percent nutrition. We have to treat our bodies with respect and care. We hope this thread will become a thread where old friends come and exchange ideas, vent and/or look for support, chat about what’s going on in their lives, boast about their culinary experiments and achievements, discuss interesting diet/exercise related articles, facts, etc. Think of it as a virtual water cooler or a coffee lounge. HAVE FUN, EAT WHOLE, MOVE, LAUGH & STAY HAPPY!

Vladis:

So glad to be here. Just to introduce myself to new people coming on, I am Jackie Vetter. My choice for WOE is 50% raw and 50% good, healthy choices, followed up with imagery help from Jon Gabriel. Working my way to health the best I can, working through my emotional issues to make that journey possibly a little easier. My choice for exercise is the 4-mile walk with Leslie Sansone.

Vladis, you are a great, dear friend. I appreciate this thread where we can talk about health and foods that help us get there.

Hug Porthos for me! He looks ready for Halloween.

Oh, Sara, you just beat me. I typed too long on my posting!

Sara, I had to start small with the exercise so that it was something I would do every day. I am now up to walking 3-4 miles with Leslie Sansone DVD, but I started out with just 1 mile. I'm loving it and doing it every day!

Glad you are here!

Yeah!!!

Hi Sara,
Hi Jackie!!!

I am going to run now - DH and I are going to Leonard Cohan concert tonight. I am still sitting here in my workout clothing. Did pretty well at the gym today and eating has been right on track. LOVE Tosca and have been enjoying all kinds of healthy cooking and stuff. For example, for lunch today I had a quinoa, walnut, apple and spinach salad with spicy Asian sauce (made it myself). Awesome!

OK, gotta run. Hope other gals will stop by and play a little here

Porthos is almost ready for Halloween) Wait till I post his Halloween photo!

Later!

Vladis, we need to start a recipe thread also. I'm not sure how to do that. I'd love your salad recipe. I bet I could make it raw!

Hi Jackie, Hi Dede.

I am back to food combining, and hopefully that will help with the bloat. I have to admit I have gained like 3 inches on my waist. Hoping to lose the bloat, and just overall fruit until noon, and either a starch and salad or protein and salad from lunch or dinner.

Jackie you are right about the exercise. I need to start small and not feel that I need to get out there and walk 3 miles. I promise to do something tonight.

Finally! Ha! I knew Sara and dede would be here!! And of course Jackie!! whoopeee!

I don't know what I'm doing except following week 3 of CTFLC this week. I have gotten in three days of exercise this week, trying for 5 every week. I did Leslie's 3 mile twice this week and my EA Sports Active today. I have a small headache, AGAIN, tonight. And I have been eating. I think I wasn't eating enough using WW.

Now that I'm subscribed to this one, I will ease myself from the other board.

DH and I are going to a show tonight, Fiddler on the Roof. Last time for what's his name to perform. I swear I really did forget. I started our subscription about 5 years ago, we get to see six shows a year. Any show that I don't like I can trade my tickets in for another performance. Momma Mia is coming again so I'll see it this time with DD. OK, got to put a snack in my tummy so it doesn't growl during the show and I don't end up snacking on, dare I say it, Twizzlers. DH's favorite.

Hi, Mary. So glad you came over!

Vladis, did you send a message to Alissa? If not, I can let her know on FB.

Dinner was really nice tonight. I'm using up all the meat in our freezer, so we had pan seared venison steaks with a side of saute'd cabbage, carrots and red peppers with celery seed. It was really good!

I am still basically following Wendy's way whilst listening to Jon Gabriel (love that he relaxes me and puts me to sleep) and just the last few days listening to Paul McKenna cd that came with the book "I Can Make You Thin".

Loads and loads of info in the book (not a diet) and I listen while I am "eating only when hungry, chewing slowly, enjoying every bite and stopping before I am full". Wow my me time has turned into eating cause it takes 30 - 45 minutes.

Yes that happens. Especially if you are supposed to chew each bite 30 - 50 times!

Jackie, do you have thyroid issues? I just bought the Mood Cure and Diet Cure by Julia Ross and while just looking through, I think I understood that she recommends grapeseed oil for thyroid. I don't know I will read them over in the next few days if time allows and see what this is all about.

I don't have thyroid issues, but I like the grapeseed because of the omegas and also because it has a high flashpoint, so you can cook hotter, but faster! Plus there are so many flavors of it with this company I am with that I can have all kinds of tastes of it!

Hi everyone,

This is an excellent idea Vladis. Anyway, most of us after the first round saw what worked and what not and adapted.

As you all know, I never used the sweeteners and the artificial stuff, the EZ bread or the complete absence of milk and yogurt except on D days. The results were still very satisfying.

Now I am back on the Crack plan, Week 2, Five, Carb-down with some modifications. Not so many eggs, a little yogurt, skim milk, whole wheat bread. Since the three day deplete last Fr, Sat, Sun., I have lost three pounds and maybe more since I will weigh and measure again tomorrow. Will let you know what happens.

Have not seen T** around. Is she OK?

Morning everyone! Ahhhh! I'm happy to be here.
Hi Linda,Sophia,Mary and Cindi

Linda-How was Fiddler? That is one of my all time favorite shows. EVERY song is good. "Sunrise,sunset,sunrise,sunset..." Beautiful!

Jackie-Does the grapeseed oil have a particular taste? Where do you get yours?

Cindi-I say it doesn't hurt to TRY the Metabolism Miracle. I know my metabolism needs a good stiff kick!

Vladis-Love you for starting this!

Not sure that I told anyone but Vladis that we decided not to go on the cruise for my b'day gift after all. We opted to go over to Naples Fl. to a resort this weekend. It's on the beach and looks really nice. I'm getting off half day and we're driving over. I'm excited. I need a getaway so badly! Have a great day!

Good Friday Morning!

Good morning, Ladies!!!

It is so good to see you here. I couldn't wait to get on the thread

We had such a great time last night. The Leonard Cohen concert was probably the best concert I have EVER seen. The man is 75 years old and he sang for 3 hours with a very short break. It was so special especially if you know his whole story. I love his songs and from the minute the concert began I was sad that it would have to end. The audience was terrific. We got home around 1 am (of course, overslept this morning). Now sitting here with a cup of coffee and my no bake energy bar reading the posts and feeling pretty darn happy

Jackie, absolutely! I will do that. You can definitely make that salad raw. The only cooked ingredient was quinoa but everything else was raw. It was great!

Sara, I am using now digestive enzymes that do help with bloating. It took about a week and now I think they do work. I wake up with a flatter stomach and overall not feeling like a baloon. Maybe give that a try as well. I use Digest Gold by Enzymedica (bought it at the Vitamin Shoppe).

Did you manage to exercise last night?

No, I haven't sent a message to Alissa. I wasn't sure what she's been up to - haven't seen her around. I did PMed Kelley and Kelley said she'd pop in when she can. I am thinking now I should have PMed Carol since I am sure she has no time to go over every post on the other thread and I am sure she'd want to stay in touch. Just thought of it. Will do it as soon as I finish this. Ladies, please do let whomever you think might enjoy this about out the thread.

You see, for some reason I did not take to Jon Gabriel at all. I should read the book again though...

I am experimenting a lot now with different oils. I use avocado oil in my salads now every now and then and the taste is quite different

When we were in CA and visited some wineries, we also did olive oil tasting. I brought some back with me - they are delicious!

Hi Sophia I was just thinking about you this morning . Glad you are here . Yes, I PMed Tam yesterday as well so if you ladies could, please poke her as well. I am guessing she might be very busy with the new baby and all the family/household stuff. It's not like T*** to be MIA. Tam, come back, lady!!!

Also, Sophia, I too do not use artificial sweeteners in anything. No way! I swear they cause my migraines.

I hope you have a super time at the resort. Love those - very relaxing. Even more so since you guys are driving there. LOVE driving and traveling by car. Any time when flying can be eliminated is a plus. Can't stand air travel any longer. Have a great time!!! We'll miss you here

Hi to all my old Cracker Buds!

The play was really good last night. Oh and what's his name is Topol, the original Tevye. This is the farewell tour. A man and his wife in front of us were discussing that he had seen him 40 yrs ago. I don't know if that is right or not. But, Topol was great. He should be if he's been playing it that long!!

I got up late also, eating some Greek yogurt right now. I have to run to the bank to make a deposit and get some paperwork notarized. I'll be back on later to read all the updates.

So happy to see everyone here.

A cool way to keep you on the wagon

OK, sharing time!

You know how hard it is at times to withstand peer pressure and "be good' when it comes to eating or drinking. I personally get carried away when i go out with my girlfriends and I can easily sabotage a week of good eating and exercising. I tried to give myself promises, make my DH make me swear that I would be strong, I tried putting something around my wrist -

A few months ago I found this cool coin on line. It reads, "Nothing taste as good as thin feels" (I think Dede quoted this a few times and it stuck with me - wise woman that she is). Now I just have it in my pocket and hold it when I have to be strong. It helped so far. Call me crazy . Check it out - maybe it could be a cool tool for you as well.

Noble Hammer™ - The Genuine Carry Coin™

OK, I have to run. Have a meeting with a client and then off to see my GI doctor. I still have that darn heartburn. My client is also a nutritionist so if she tells me something profound, I will post later. There are a couple of interesting things that I want to post from my latest nutritional/diet readings.

Later, dear friends!!!

Dede: they have natural grapeseed, roasted garlic grapeseed, natural butter flavor grapeseed, hickory smoke grapeseed, zesty lemon grapeseed (I love this one on my salads and on fish), jalapeño grapeseed oil, european bread dipping oil....all kinds. Look at my signature line and you can go to the website and read about them. The lady (I met her the other day) founded the company and the products because her kids had autism and ADD. She began to discover their most problems occurred around when they ate, so she developed this line. I really like them and the blends.

Is she OK?

Sophia (eyre22)
Hi, Sophia. So glad you are here.

Yeah, Linda, on exercise and eating well . Now, can you tell us what was what's his name whose last time that was to perform ?

Hi Cindi!!! Great to see you here. We are all groupies of each other and healthy ways of eating and living. I just love this group of people . If and when you switch to Metabolic Miracle, please let us know how that's going, OK?

:hiya: Mary!!! Great to see you here as well! Hey, did you get the enzymes? if so, are they working for you? Just curious...

Love you too, my friend. Glad to be of service

Vladis: I have an olive oil I just love from living tree community. OMG it is delicious! Thank you for everything and also for the recipe thread.

Dede: Enjoy your weekend at the resort. You deserve it!

Good Morning Everyone!!

I don't have thread stress this beautiful day!

Dede - hope that you enjoy your getaway and so glad to see ya' I missed your posts this week

Vladis - Glad you enjoyed the concert - no digest gold yet haven't found the time to drive the 40 miles yet - Last weekend was not the weekend to be on the main road cause Texas played Oklahoma!! Those people are crazy so I chose not to go but will try to go this weekend!

I didn't like the Gabriel Method either but, while listening to the cd it relaxes me and puts me to sleep - it is 23 minutes but I rarely make it past 10 and I am gone.

"I personally get carried away when I go out with my ______________" fill in the blank. That would be "anyone" for me. I should purchase the coin and maybe wear a picture of Tosca Reno in a locket around my neck as reminders. Yes, I find it hard to say no also.

Banking and notary stuff is done. Now at home eating a large baby greens salad with mixed veggies, EVOO, ACV, Italian spices and beans. But what I really wanted to eat was an Italian cold cut sub with the works from the Italian Deli. I was drooling over all the fresh "stuff". I did pick up some olives and Wedding Soup for DH.
