Yep. Gosh, I'm happy to hear that I'm not alone. I was starting to think it was ME, not HIM. Just kidding. I'm thankful that my daughter is so caring. to everyone!

My house smells soooo good--I have Dede's tomato recipe roasting in my oven. We're supposed to wait for a couple of days before eating these, right? That will be hard to do if they taste half as good as they smell!

I'm also going to make Jackie's zucchini hummus today.

Hmmm....I also have a nice big cauliflower. Maybe I'll make some soup, or rice it up. I baked some acorn squash last night and DH ate some but there's still some left over.

Sounds like a good veggie day today.

Hugs to all with family issues. We all have them to varying degrees, I guess, and it's good to know you're not alone. With the holidays approaching they always seem to be magnified, too.

Donna, I believe she said the tomatoes just get better and better as they "age".

ETA:"These tomatoes are really good the first day, excellent the second day and super duper awesome after that. They keep in the fridge for a week" per dede.

Hi Ladies,

Not a happy camper here - tom has arrived, back is hurting, blah, blah, blah

Anyway, no complaining

You got it, Sophia! Everybody wants everything yesterday. I get so worked up and when I get new clients I am on for 12 hours a day. Tired and cranky (oops, I said no complaining )

She LOVES him and I got great seats,(10th row center). I'm not really a fan but it'll be fun watching her enjoy it. My nephew, who my mom raised from age 5,lives in New Orleans, and is also joining us at the beach. I'm excited cuz the weather is supposed to be sunny with highs in the low 70's. Linda-Don't understand why your son tortures you somtimes. My older brother does that to my mom a lot. He recently invited her to spend some time at the beach in Gulf Shores with them ,then when she acted like she was really going to go,he took back the invitation and told her he'd rather she didn't come after all because, and I quote,"mom, people go on vacation to get away from their problems". It hurt her feelings so badly that he considered her one of his "problems". He really is the biggest a** in the world! That's another reason I invited my mom to go with me this weekend.

Okay, gotta get going. I wanted to talk to everyone but now I've run out of time. Catch you all later.
Dede, have a great time with your Mom. I have to say that your brother does sound like what you said he is. Why would he say something like that to your Mom? What is wrong with some people

Isn't it great that we now classify all those donuts, cakes and cookies as "junk." I have felt pretty darn good this week, no cravings.

dede~~I am so happy for you about this coming weekend. That sounds exactly like something I need to do NOW. You are a good daughter.

Isn't it funny how kids turn out. I know your mother didn't raise your brother to treat her that way and neither did I. Torture is exactly what he does. My son moved out at 18 with his best friend that lived down the street from us. Both of them did want to go to college. Ten years later he says he should have done that. That was one of our many disagreements. However, I did advise (forced) him to invest in a home about 6 years ago. He was young but all this moving into apartments, etc. was just plain stupid in my eyes. He says it was the best decision he ever made. I figure he'll mature around age 40 or so.

Hanging in there still with my eating. I didn't exercise yesterday but I usually make Wednesday my rest day. Got to go eat and run some errands. Later, ladies!
You are definitely not alone, Gemi, in your frustration over relations.

No exercise for me either for a coupple of days. I have been eating not too well - not junk but just 3 meals a day. I can tell it's not good for me b/c I let too much time pass between the meals and my insides start protesting. However, I am just a bit out of sorts. I know it will pass and therefore... no complaining!

If someone would repost the link to our recipe thread I'll put it in. Or should I put it right here?

I have a son that does that to me all the time- every time I tell him that if he would speak with respect his DW would respect us also, and things would be easier for him too. And he does it over the phone, so she never hears what I said- just his "disrespect"- to put it mildly. Of course, it's my fault!

Dede- that is so sweet of you to take your mom, and to enjoy watching her have such a good time. You are such a good soul!!!
Hey Tam! haven't said howdy to you in a while

That's ok, you can complain. We don't mind. That's why they invented heating pads for women during their TOM. I couldn't live without mine.

Vladis--make the tomatoes! OMG, they are so good. I think I'll go to the farmer's market tomorrow and see if they still have some baskets of tomatoes left, I'll make a ton of this.

Thanks Linda--I thought I had read something about them tasting better after a while. I rolled a little up in a slice of turkey breast...swoon.

And Jackie--the hummus! I'm stunned at the texture. Not to mention the taste lol.

Well I am in the midst of a cooking orgy inspired by the success of those tomatoes and zucchini hummus. I fooled around to make a low-carb version of Qdoba's Mexican Gumbo. DH has been wanting it for a while but I won't go because there's nothing I can eat there right now. So I riced up my cauliflower and used black soy beans and have come up with a version that is pretty good. He will be SO happy when he comes home and sees all this good veggie fare.

Just checking in to say a BIG HI to my Buds! This has been a hard day for me emotionally, but working through it. Food wise, I'm ok. Still on the learning-curve with MM. I'm still leaning toward carb cycing though. Not sure restricting carbs is it for me either. Life is an ADVENTURE!

Off to clean the retreat....

Mornin dear friends. Linda, you are right. We all support each other and I am so thankful for you all! I mean,it takes a real friend to kick your mean brother's butt,(Jackie)! I laughed so hard when I read that.
Isn't it so amazing that people all over the world, have the same problems and emotional issues?!?! We all truly are brothers and sisters in this life.

Mary-What happened in your town is unspeakable! It makes me so sad and I just don't understand it. But I know that all the families will receive support from all over. Tragedies like that affect us all. You and your town are in my prayers.

Sophia-I love hearing about loving families such as yours. It's so great that your mom's life is a happy one thanks to you and your brother.

Tam-Yes,please post that soup recipe. I can't wait to make it when I get back!

Donna-So glad you liked the tomatoes. Leave it to Mary to quote me exactly,ha! Yes they are even better later. I put some on my hambuger patty the other day and it was heavenly!

Vladis-Hope you are feeling better today.

Linda-so glad you have had a healthy eating week.

Cindi-Sorry to hear you had a difficult time emotionally yesterday. Is the retreat officially on the market? Any offers yet?

Hi Sara,Carol and Penny!

Okay,so y'all won't believe this. I won't til I see it. The prodical son/brother says he is driving down to spend the weekend with us at the beach. I'm not all that happy about it, but mom is, so that's the important thing. He better behave or I'm calling Jackie to come straighten him out!
I'm taking my computer and they are supposed to have wi/fi at the place so I will be able to give you all updates. I'm excited to see my son. Okay, better go start getting ready. Check back probably tomorrow.

Morning all!

Mary~~I am still in shock over what happened in your town. What on earth is happening in this world? People are going beserk! for all.

dede~~oh boy, I hope your brother behaves himself. Glad your mom is happy about him coming. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well. Have fun.

Wow, Donna~~you are cooking up a storm. I might try those tomatoes also. I'll eat them for sure, not sure DH will enjoy them as much as I will.

Jackie~~hope you win the cook off. I'm thinking you probably will. Good luck!

Got up late today because DD came over for dinner. Yes, I did have two glasses of wine but that was all. Hope I didn't do too much damage to stir up cravings for junk again. Going to eat, exercise and shower. Will check back later.

Beautiful day! I'm grateful, but have a terrific headache...going to Curves and then Christmas shopping. We go home to visit all the family from Nov 20-Dec 14. Got 'em in MO and KY!

Have a great day. OH, Jackie and Dede thanks for your concern, but it has passed after a good cry with the LORD! HIS GRACE IS GREAT!

Hello Everyone!!! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. As a military installation we have friends/family around the world so this has affected everyone in some way.

Tell your family/friends that you "love them". Give them hugs and kisses because you don't know what today might bring.

Hope your headache goes away. Hate those nasty things. Could it be from switching to MM? I guess we all have had a few of those crying sessions with G**. I never looked at that way but now that I think about it there have been times when I was frustrated to tears and did pray about it.

Got up late today because DD came over for dinner. Yes, I did have two glasses of wine but that was all. Hope I didn't do too much damage to stir up cravings for junk again. Going to eat, exercise and shower. Will check back later.
I did not win! Didn't even come close! Do you know I brought just about all I made home? They asked me, "Is your chili vegetarian?" I said, "No, but it is organic and wonderful!" They said, "Yuck, organic is healthy and I don't want healthy chili!" Honestly, no one would eat it because it was organic! It was delicious! One of our board members took a bite and he said, "Wonderful!" Who made this chili?" At least he has good taste!

Hello, lovely Sara!

This week I have been a bad girl. Ate cookies today!

I don't know if my emotions are all off because my daughter is going back to Michigan with the kids or what, but my eating has been way off this week. I'm just going to start again on Monday! She and her husband are going to try to work things out, and I'm glad about that for the kids, but I sure will miss them. I've gotten used to them being just 2 hours away again, now they are 6 hours away!

Sorry, your organic Chili didn't win, Jackie.

I must be fighting a bug because headache wouldn't go away! After a fruitless day shopping, I came home drained then went to pick DH up from Golf course, made a quick healthy supper and collapsed on the couch. After a wonderful facial and neck massage from DH, popped some allergy/cold meds and went straight to bed (6:30) and just now got up with NO headache.

LindaGem, this could be from the MM eating. It has less carbs or separated differently. Can't have any one food containing net carb of 5 any closer that 5 hours. The schedule requires some getting used to, but miss the EZ bread most. Although I get low fat dairy. A good trade-off for this dairy lover!

We'll see how tomorrow goes because I didn't feel good enough to go to Curves today but plan to go in the morning. Then on to the city to hopefully finish shopping for the DGC.

Many deaths and wounded in TX and FL. Our prayers go up for the families and friends of those poor unexpecting victims. Praying for the salvation of those shooters!

Now, I'm in my pjs and wiill say good night....sleep may be the best medicine.
Love to all.

Mornin everyone. I'm sitting on the back deck of the beach condo looking looking at the water. It's windy and a bit cool but nice. Very restful moment. My brother did come,as well as my nephew and son. It was kinda chaotic last night but hopefully everything will go smoothly. I'm just enjoying this moment drinking my french vanilla flavored Duncan coffee.

Linda-those 2 little glasses of wine won't hurt. You've been doing well this week so don't worry. Make those 'maters! I'm do not like raw tomatoes at allbut I love these slow roasted ones. Really,an omlette made with them is exquisite!

Jackie-too bad people are so fearful of tasting anything that might be a little different. Seems they could've at least done what I used to make my son do when he was little-take a "no thank-you bite"! It would've been the polite thing to do AND they would've loved it I'm sure!

Cindi-Hmm Christmas shopping! You just sent a chill down my spine. I know I have to start soon to avoid last minute stress. Actually I did pick up one thing when we went to Naples for my stepdaughter. Nothing else though. I'm not going crazy this year with spending. I don't think anyone will. Glad your headache is better. Can't wait to hear how the new woe works out.

I think I'm going to take a walk down the beach this morning after coffee. I will take some pics. I still can't figure out how to post the bathroom remodel pictures. It keeps saying the file is "too big". I will get DH to help. Later guys!

Morning lovely ladies!

Happy Saturday. It is crisp and clear here right now. The temps should jump up to around 55 today. DH and I are planning on tackling the leaves in the back yard, cutting the ornamental grasses and taking out a few bushes that are just too big now. Hope we get it done today because tomorrow is going to be a resting day.

dede~~I want to walk on the beach and just do nothing! DH and I are still planning to go to the Bahamas either Jan or Feb. Will probably take DD & her friend. Her DH doesn't like anything to do with the beach. Too bad because he is assuming that it's really, really hot and hoards of people. It's usually upper 70's then, quiet and an all inclusive.

Jackie~~they should have been polite and at least tasted it. I've been working on DH to eat more healthy. I picked up organic Italian sausage for him to try and he loved it. Have fun teaching!

Cindi~~I don't even want to think about Christmas. I'm cutting back this year also. I usually over spend. DD and I have already had that conversation. Going to try to get together with her and do some serious shopping and stick to our lists.

My meals were good yesterday, exercised and hope to repeat that today. Hi to anyone else who jumped on.

Morning, Buds!

I feel much better today! Thank you for your prayers and concern! I'm going to tackle the Christmas shopping after I do CURVES. Can't afford to miss exercising...

Dede~ I woke up at 7:30 AM and had a very early breakfast and stepped out on the deck and took in a few breaths of wonderful fresh air! Couldn't help enjoying the calmer water view and gentle breeze. Sunny and bright and it didn't hurt my head!!! Yayyy!

Have a wonderful day. Love to ALL.

Oh, I find shopping more challenging as the middle range priced items are already missing off the shelves! I would advice to go early for the most popular items or buy on-line!

Tam, I do believe that cranberries have some of the Omegas in them. I think I read that somewhere, so especially if they are unsweetened...go for it!

I have a child like that, a real daughter of a gun! She makes me furious at times. Her problem is that she talks too much and then says stuff she wishes she could take back and can't!
Where do you find the unsweet dried cranberries??? Sounds delicious w/ the almonds.

We've rented a beach condo so I'm hoping to really relax. Also Sunday is my mom's 75th birthday so the trip is part of her present. Her big present is tickets to see Englebert Humperdink in Feb. Can't wait to walk barefoot in the snow white soft sand!

Sophia-so glad to see you. You have to admit that too many sales is a good 'problem' to have!

Jackie-I know what you mean about the junk people bring to get togthers. Sometimes at work,I just can't believe the sweets sitting on the table in the break room. Boxes of donuts, cakes and cookies. Some people eat that stuff every day and think nothing of it. I hate the way donuts leave that thick, film of lard in your mouth! Yuck!

Dede...Enjoy your well deserved "down time."

Hello ladies!!! Been a busy week. Just had time to scan the posts. I have finally found a doctor who thinks he can help with my neck/shoulder pain I've had for "24 years!" It has been much worse the last 10-12 years. My primary care doctor had a CT done of my cervical spine back in Sept. He referred to a "conservative" neurosurgeon whom I saw this past week. I have 3 vertabraes that are bone on bone, bone spurs, pinched nerves, etc... Saw him again yesterday and had my pre-op appt. He will do the surgery this upcoming Wed. @ 11/45am. He will remove the damaged disk and replace them with a man-made substance, (I'm sure Dede knows what all this stuff is...) clean out the bone spurs, do some fusion and put a metal plate to hold everything in place. Unfortunately, he will have to go thru the front of my neck. One night stay in the hospital, which I dread. He said 94-98% of his patients get great results with this surgery. He could not believe all I've been thru all these years and had to suffer all this time. I almost cried when he told me he could make me better. Pain has taken a lot of pleasure from my life for a very long time. I hide the pain well....So, I can deal with the ugly scar as long as he can get me out of pain. I'm sure this WOE will be a little off for a few days but I know what to do to get back on track! Dede...have you ever seen anyone who had this done? He said he seals the incision up with glue...not stitches. Just wanted to let you know what is coming up if you don't hear from me for several days. Please keep me in your prayers that it will be a successful surgery and nothing bad happens. My last surgery, June "08 on my wrist, I got a staph infection. Now surgeries make me very nervous! Have a good weekend all!

Oh my... just the waiting must be horrid. We've had alot of that here, as you know, and I'll never forget the time I couldn't locate my DD and her brood for 3 hours after a bus she frequented was blown up by a terrorist. It's absolutely horrid and sensless, whoever gets hurt/killed. You , yours and everyone else are in my prayers!

You got it, Sophia! Everybody wants everything yesterday. I get so worked up and when I get new clients I am on for 12 hours a day. Tired and cranky (oops, I said no complaining )

Dede, have a great time with your Mom. I have to say that your brother does sound like what you said he is. Why would he say something like that to your Mom? What is wrong with some people

Hey Tam! haven't said howdy to you in a while

Donna, I am dying to make Dede's tomatos now

Hi Jackie! Hi Penny! Hi Mary! Hi Cindi! Hi Sara! Whom am I missing? I can blame hormones today...
Hiya Vlad dear!! I'll be making Dede's tomatoes as soon as I can get some.

Hope your vacation is going smoothly, and your DB may just learn some lessons from you. (Ya right, if he was going to he would've a long time ago ) As you see, the recipe is waiting for you for when you return!

It is wonderful w/ almonds. I get them at my local nut store- they sell everything from nuts to grains , spices, dried fruit, and even chocolates by weight.
Right- nobody gets judged here- a rarity in this day and age. If everyone would just trust others that they are trying their best, which is what this thread is all about, right? - then the world would be a better place!!

Good luck w/ the surgery- keep us posted!!

Tomorrow is a busy day-Gym, a meeting, some shopping, and then out of town to a party for my great nephew- 2 weeks old-(We call it a Brit- Jewish boys are circumcised at 8 days, and named then, but this one is late, as he was jaundiced- we make a party for the occasion) I'll be out from 9-5 at least- trying to get an early night.

The Sabbath was nice- got alot of sleep, but not enough -DS17(just had his BD this week) was home from school, and DD came with her brood. THe new baby is delish. I got a full smile-up to the eyebrows- not bad for 3 weeks. She's smiling all the time in her sleep, but this was special- with full eye contact. All of them (4 girls and a boy) are growing up so quickly!
They've all left now- sent some leftovers home with DD- at this point she's doing me as big a favor as I am doing her!

The floors will have to wait til Monday- post grandkid visit stains all over the place- no way could I get to it tonight, and tomorrow I will come home wiped!

to you all, ladies!
