Wow! 4 pages of posts already! I love it!

Did you all check out the get lean in 12 website that Lori (I think) told us about? Wendy really looks like she has suffered much! Praying for her.

Judy: Yes, I think, along with all the others, that you need to chew your breakfast and also your water intake should be around 80 - 100 ounces I do believe. I've always heard to take your body weight divided by 2 in ounces and drink that! That is the principle I have followed for a long time. I don't remember for sure what Wendy's guidelines are.

[quote=gemini0604;12602806]I too was in a funk for a few days. This being breast cancer awareness month, brought back all those memories of my mother and DH's mother. Hi, Dede. Yes, I think I take a little more than recommended. I didn't go down to the 1/2 tsp because it seemed my body needed the 1 tsp for a while longer. I'm on my 4th bottle.

T**m, I am so glad you are feeling better.

Your down times seem to echo mine. Since last Friday we have been very upset because our 15 year old daughter has been bullied in school pretty seriously (by her "best" friend, by the way) and now convincing her to go to school is a nightmare. The school, thank heaven, is very proactive and nipped it in the bud but the incident did shake her confidence in people. Waiting for her to come home and seeing her so troubled breaks my heart, but it is better that she learn her lessons early.

I feel bloated too and scared that the vicious cycle of sugar+carb= momentary satisfaction and then being upset with myself so more sugar+carb is about to start again. For now, because I am upset I have been skipping meals rather than eating but I do not know how long I can hold out. For some reason I cannot deplete anymore. Does anyone have any ideas on that. I start OK in the morning but then I have to have some fruit or starchy thing with lunch and even dinner.

I am trying to focus on the fact that despite all these ups and downs and being essentially off the program I have not gained anything....but it is difficult.

Hopefully, things will change...Thanks for listening everyone. This board is a great comfort.

Hugs,
Sophia (eyre22)
Hi, Sophia. I am so sorry for your DD. I know what that is like. I was bullied in school all the time because of my father's religion and the way I had to dress. It is not a pleasant thing to go through.

Sophia, try taking a few days and do proper food combining. Just don't eat starches with proteins. that helps my bloating so much. I just don't eat potatoes, corn, carrots or peas with any type of protein. Yogurt can be eaten with anything. It helps me so much. The bloating just disappears. I also don't eat beans with protein. I'm used to that though because of eating vegan for so long. But I have no bloating when I soak my beans overnight and don't combine them with protein. Just a couple days or even one will probably help you get rid of the bloating.

Deep breaths, Sophia, you'll find your happy medium again. It is just the stress causing this right now.

A bit about me: I was disgusted to reach the highest weight of my life at the end of June just as I turned 50. It would be one thing and understandable if I was a junk or processed food eater, but you would probably be surprised at the lack of sweets or processed food in my house and the time I spend at farm markets. But, I love to cook and I have a weakness for good breads and pasta, sooooo...

Have a super day all
Kathy, WOW what a super job you have done! You sound a lot like me. I am not a sweet or processed foods eater either, you won't find them in my house. But, I love Millet with ezekiel toast, or homemade wheat bread....potatoes.....whole grain pasta! SO, I'm with you Sister!

Cindi: HOpe you are enjoying your family darlin'! Happy Crack Anniversary!

PS, just an update. Maisy was 24 hours without fever so went to school today. Maya is still coughing and sneezing, slight fever still, so she stayed home today again.

I have enjoyed being with them.

Aden came and got in bed with me and asked me "Mamm, can I go home with you and Poppie?" Gosh I love them so much!

Way to go, newbies! It is so exciting to read about your enthusiasm and determination--and early successes. You can do it.

About losing 10%--you know, that is such a good strategy. Many years ago a good friend started Atkins with me, saying she intended to lose 10% of her weight each year, stop dieting when she reached that amount, and maintain it for the balance of the year before starting again. Well, I pooh-poohed that strategy thinking I wanted to lose it ALL right away. She stuck to her plan. I struggled with Atkins but did manage to lose 73 pounds over a couple of years. It took her four or five years to lose her weight. But, all these years later, she's still slim, while I have gradually regained a good bit of my early loss.

Now that I'm thinking of it, on Conquer I've inadvertently frozen myself at an almost 10% loss. I started Conquer back in April, and lost 21 pounds. Then summer came and I took a break from the plan since I had been wanting fruit. The good news--despite a few slips and ups-and-downs, those 21 pounds seem to be gone for good. Even when I gain a few pounds, as I did on my double vacation and recent Bang-Bang episode, a return to the diet quickly gets me back to my Conquer low. I think Conquer helped me set this new "set point" and mostly maintaining it for these past four months or so has helped my body embrace this weight.

I restarted again this week with the intentions of doing three or four deplete days and then back to Week 1. I'm starting anew from a lower weight... If I could lose another 10% I'd be thrilled!

Donna

Fill up on the salad and green beans. Eat slow. By the time you're done you'll only want one piece of pizza.

Loved the info about the carbs. I'm going to send the link to my DD for her DH. He made a comment at the Faire on Saturday, "all you need is meat and potatoes. Who needs to eat vegetables. Potatoes are a vegetable." I gave him THE look.
Had two- but they were super thin- I did have a great nap afterwards, though. Carbs do that to me.... 6 hours last nite, and 1.5 hours this afternoon- big improvement.
She writes alot about veggies in her FMS book- and advises 8-10 servings of veggies/fruits a day for FMS, (Fruit only on D days and weeks 7/8, newbies!). This is very important , especially since we eat alot of protein, so it's much better for our digestion, as the protein is acid forming- not good to eat w/o the veggies.

Week 1 was the first week in September and I've lost another 16 lbs. following the diet.

LOVE the flexibility!!!!!! I started week 5 this past Monday. According to the calander, it should be week 6, but there was a weekend in there where I entertained, so following that I did a few carb down days and returned to the program. Ditto this weekend; have a wine tasting and Italian dinner coming up on Monday so will do carb down before then return to the schedule Tuesday. (I use a separate daily planner and just write the letters corresonding to the type of day and plan ahead for things like the upcoming dinner.)

Have a super day all
Did you say Greek? Eyre is Greek, and is our biggest loser, but not on Nutrisystem

Hiya. A newbie here.

Hi! I am from Gettysburg, Pa. This is my first week on Crack! I did low carb since July and I pretty much stalled since mid August. I had the Wendy's book for several months and decided to try it. I am hoping to lose all these baby fats that I accumulate with my two boys. I started yesterday and so far so good. I hope I can keep it up. I am reading all the posts on Wendy Chant's plan.

SO funny- I was like that with my one minute flax muffin- everyone wanted a taste, and I was afraid that if they would have some I would starve all day

I better get off this chair- the supermarket order is sitting on the foyer floor, and my chicken breasts are marinating in the fridge- no gas tomorrow, so if not now, when? That reminds me that I have 2 washes waiting for the (gas) dryer.....

Feel great, ladies- and tell the wagon to slow down, as I want to get back on!!!

re crepes

Ladies, if you like crepes, try this:

I like the egg beaters flavors (cheese & chive or southwestern). I keep a variety of pre-cooked veggies in plastic containers (broccoli, leeks, mushrooms, spinach...and they've been either steamed in the microwave steamer bags or sauteed in low sodium chicken stock, which if you "pretend" tastes a lot like butter).

Preheat oven to 350. On the stovetop, heat an ovenproof non stick omelette pan. Throw in the egg substitute and a lot of pre-cooked veggies. As the eggs begin to set, tilt the pan while drawing the cooked eggs toward the center and let the uncooked portion run underneath. If your day/plan permits, add a sprinkle of cheese. (Cream cheese is to die for w/ this if allowed).

When the eggs are almost cooked, switch the oven to the broiler setting and slide the pan underneath the broiler. (Watch carefully, you don't want to burn the cheese!) I swear the eggs will puff like a souffle and you will be full for hours!

Enjoy!!!!

Have you seen those 'Protein Shots' at Walmart? They come in like a giant plastic test tube and have less than 1 g of carb in them and 0 sugar. Would this be ok to do instead of the protein shakes?

What else can i do to tuna to make it taste better? I had that last night instead of salmon.
Found this on last week's thread.

The Test

2nd day and this day has been a challenge. It was my bosses birthday so I usually bake the big choc. cake. Well passed that duty on. So everyone wanted subs and I went to pick them up ( one of the many duties of the office manager). Well we have a new bakery that makes subs and of course goodies. Went in looked at everything and got every one their subs. I then treated myself to genoa salami and some german bolonga.( I know not the leanest cold cuts, but made myself rollups with the coldcuts, monterey jack cheese and romaine lettuce. Hope all is having a great day. Next hurdle is tonight, is dinner out with my sister. wish me luck!! jUDY

When the eggs are almost cooked, switch the oven to the broiler setting and slide the pan underneath the broiler. (Watch carefully, you don't want to burn the cheese!) I swear the eggs will puff like a souffle and you will be full for hours!

Enjoy!!!!

Kathy
Oh my that sounds good! I will have to try it.

Mary, I did some research and ended up getting Enzymedica brand Digest Gold (they have it in Vitamin Shoppe or on line). They claim to be the highest activity digestive enzyme bland available (formulated to assist in digesting proteins, fats, carbs and fiber)/

Great job with what you had. Good luck tonight. Where are you going? Can you look at the menu online? If so, decide what you want before you go.

Thanks Vladis! Vitamin Shoppe about 35 miles away but I need to go anyway so I will check that out. Is it liquid? If so how is the taste?

Nope, it's in capsules. You need to take one at the beginning of each meal. You can also order them on line. Sometimes they run a promotion on line but not in the stores. However, if you print out the pricing info on line and bring it to the store, the store will honor it.

So far, so good. Stick with salad, brocolli and grilled chicken or fish. Dressing on the side. You will make it!

Donna
Donna: That sounds fantastic! I may try that too! 10% may seem a more attainable goal to my subconscious and I may not try to sabotage myself! Plus 10% of what I weigh would make a difference!

Just remember to do Week 1 exactly as written using only the substitutions for week 1 in the book! We're glad to have you here.

Day 1 wasn't too bad. I am trying to get used to the olive oil/apple cidar dressing for the salad. I am sure I will get used to it.

I haven't seen those protein shots. I'll look for them. Where are they and who makes them? I would imagine they would work just fine. How much protein?

I put curry in tuna with eggs and celery, then serve it on a leaf of lettuce. Celery seed is also good with it as is poppy seeds. I make a tuna burger out of it. Since you can't have bread crumbs this week, grind up a few almonds to use as a binder along with an egg white. Put in the seasoning of your choice, hot sauce is good. THen either pan fry in a non-stick pan or bake in the oven on 350 until it crisps up. They're really good. I still serve it with lettuce (as the bread) and mustard.

Has snowbunny found her way here yet this week?

Day 2 of Conquer...

Afternoon Crackers and Conquerers...
Day 2 of Conquer...woke up sore from my little bit of exercise after being 'dormant' since my knee surgery in Jan....but a good sore, like I am alive sore and not 'sluggish' sore.
I had already been on a week of 'Whole Body cleanse' before yesterday..so this morning I woke up feeling much, much less bloated and the scale says I am already down 2 lbs. I know, I know--won't let the scale head fake me, but just feeling better. I had been watching it go up and up and up for so long, it is nice to have a morning of going the other way.
Made the egg poppers you guys posted last night and had 2 at 7am---before leaving for work YUMMY!!! Wow...held me until 9:30am when I had my cottage cheese. (back at work today---so I planned and packed my lunch/snacks last night)---Not sure who reminded us Newbies...but planning is KEY!
I am also keeping up and using the success planner that the majority of the Conquer book has --- 56 days. Helps to keep track of my eating and my water intake. I like being accountable AND it helps you to make sure you are eating enough throughout the day.
Had my delicious Lemon Pepper Grilled chicken breast with 1/2 cup of brown rice (Day 2 of conquer, P/S) for lunch today at my desk...
And have had lots water....
I am like another poster who said they were not into sweets/sugar etc..but the breads, pastas...yeah, my 'addiction or weakness' is CHEESE and really rich breads...so, I really have to watch the cheese intake... Love, love full rich foods and in Texas it's Mexican food --- all S/O ---
Planning on my Turkey Burger tonight after my DD High School Volleyball match....
Checking out the receipe thread today---please keep posting your favorites for us Newbies! It helps so much!
Kathy---congrats on your success! I am looking forward to seeing what I can accomplish after 5 weeks...I am just on day 2. Have you been exercising at all? If so--what and when?
Going to get a walk in later tonight...and then back to the gym tomorrow after work. That really seems to be the missing piece for me...
Thanks again ladies...I will continue to read every day!
