I was UP another 0.4 of a lb this morning. Don't know why, but I'll be on plan again today.

Yesterday I had
L: 1.5 cups homemade chicken/shrimp soup
D. 10 oz NY Strip
S: Hot Chocolate

NOT ENOUGH WATER AGAIN!! That's the only thing I can think of that needs improvement.

Here's Today's Meditation.

Have a great day and KUTGW!!.......

Let me know if the whoosie or whoosh (whatever the heck it's called) happens.

Since I only weigh once a week, I am not sure I will whoosh LOL. I guess if I have any kind of wt loss it would be a whoosh.

Hello everyone
I'm feeling a bit moody/down today. No good reason why I feel this way maybe just hormones. Someone posted something that made sense to me (can't remember who posted this pearl of wisdom)...."life isnt always gonna be rainbows and butterfly farts".

I really need to be careful when I feel this way because I know my tendency is to use food to feel better.

I'm going out of town for the weekend. That is always a challenge for me to stay on track. My DH usually gets a bit wild when we eat out (tends to want buffets and lots of sweets) It can be tough to watch someone eat all of my favorite foods but I will stay strong. Usually he ends up with a bellyache and always says, "we are not going to eat like that again". <-----even when I've been good **adjusts halo**

So, I'm facing a double challenge this weekend.....cruddy mood and husband gone hawg wild

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

Good afternoon, everyone....I had better news from the scale this morning. I was DOWN 0.4 of a pound. Better than nothing, that's for sure. And DEFINITELY better than another bounce UP.

It's cold again....and overcast. 46* at 1:30pm is WAY below normal for this time of year. Our "normal" high is 70*. I am NOT ready for winter....especially this early.

My menu yesterday:
L: Chicken/shrimp soup (It's gone now. Gotta make some more)
D: 10 oz. NY Strip
S: Glass of white wine at DDs.

Liz...Just remember one word this weekend from your post today. "Hawg" Even if DH does go hawg wild, you won't because you don't want to look like one.

Good morning....I was DOWN a "little" this morning. Just 0.2, but that's better than UP. I wasn't hungry at lunchtime yesterday so I didn't eat.

Menu:
L: Nada
D: NY Strip and 2/3s cup of cottage cheese.
S: 1.4 oz. of Cheddar Cheese

I had hoped to lose a bit more, but so long as it's going in the right direction I'll take it and be happy. Not enough water yesterday either. I just can't seem to get that part right. I'll keep working on it.

When I get it off this time, it's going to be forever. This is NOT a diet for me. It's definitely a WOL from this day forward. I'm not saying I'll NEVER eat anything off plan again, but it will be "planned" not just random "who cares" eating. My health cares...that's who. Life is too short to stay like I am. Too much pain involved. I'll definitely be more cautious about meds in the future too. Even if it does make the docs mad when they are challenged. Thank goodness my primary care doc isn't one of those. I'm still mad about the weight those two meds put back on me before I realized what was going on. I was SO close to Onederland. Gotta get back there.

They are predicting snow flurries for Saturday and Sunday!! It is WAY too early for that. I hope they are wrong, but I doubt it. We have been much colder than normal so we will probably have them. Our normal highs are 70*, with lows in the 50s. Now our highs are in the 50s with the lows in the 30s & 40s. Brrrrrr......where is global warming? El Nino....come visit us before it's too late!!

Gotta run....lots to do today.

Yesterday was a very hard day for me. I have a good friend I've known for over 25 years who is suffering from upper stomach/esophagial (sp) cancer. His wife, who is also my friend, called me yesterday morning and told me that he is dying - his body is starting to shut down. I have to confess that I medicated myself with sugar. It was a co-workers birthday and I had a big piece of cake. That's all I had for lunch, but I blew my day WOE and of course the scale shows it. I had to weigh and face the damage.

Can anyone help me with ways you have stopped the habits and negative actions when something triggers you? I hope I made myself clear - I didnt' sleep well last night and I'm really tired. What have you done to stop the pattern of reaching for food to medicate or make yourself feel better?

I appreciate all of you - I need my cyber friends to help me make it through days like this.

Need to get to work. I'll TTYL. Love ya!

Gibby...I am so sorry to hear about your friend

I still struggle with the urge to use food to self medicate.

Many times, I am thankful to say, I am able to resist.

I try to vent those emotions/feelings in non food ways. I call a friend, post here, write in a private journal etc. Sometimes a hot bath and a good book or watching a good comedy can help me MUCH more than food. I try to think of things that make me feel good and then I do them. I also drink lots of yummy herbal teas. Staying busy/occupied is also really important for me.

the most helpful thing for me is to have a healthy structured plan of eating. In a perfect world on a perfect day I would say that I force myself to stick to that plan and don't eat off plan no matter what.
Sometimes it doesn't work out so I usually have a plan B to try and minimize the "damage".

Plan B for me is to have a lot of low cal/low carb chewy foods (like cucumbers, celery, raw cauliflower, etc) prepared and easily accessible. I can eat a LOT of those foods and not do any dietary damage. they take time to eat and provide a lot of chew (sometimes the act of chewing provides me with some stress/tension relief....I don't know if it is just me) Many of the lower carb foods I can eat really quickly and that can lead to some serious calories. So if I feel that I might be tempted to graze/overeat/munch/binge I make sure that I am well stocked with the healthier/lower cal options.

I also make sure that I don't have any super high calorie binge trigger foods in my house. If it isn't available I won't eat it.

I have a "hunger" test. If I feel like I really hungry I allow myself to eat a can of stinky sardines. If I am actually hungry I am happy to eat that. If I am just wanting to munch or feed my emotions I will gag at the thougth. My emotional hunger is usually pretty specific about what I want to eat.

If I do end up getting into off plan/high calorie/high carb stuff (like the cake you mentioned) I try to stay positive and realistic. One piece of cake is NOT going to make me gain back 80lbs. However, if I get the "I've blown it attitude" I can rapidly gain back weight because I keep on eating. Realistically, how many carbs does that cake have? I doubt if it has 100 carbs. Some people consider 100 carbs to be a "low carb" diet. So, I would stick to zero/VLC for the rest of the day.

Also, please remember when you ate the pint of ice cream (and something else which I forgot) you actually lost weight. You gained some over night but maybe it will shock your body into a big WHOOSH if you stay on plan

YOU CAN DO IT!!! You've been doing great. There are so many yummy low carb foods. Make sure you have those.

Also please remind yourself of how much better you feel on plan....you deserve to feel better. I remember you posting that you had an easier time breathing/sleeping....that is INCREDIBLE!!!

Sending you lots of good thoughts and

And I gave the whoosh fairy YOUR address

Gibby, I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I'll lift up a prayer for him to be peaceful and free from pain. Although right now I've been doing some emotional eating, I have been successful in the past to NOT resort to emotional eating. A lot of what I'm going to say Liz has already said but I'll repeat it anyway because it's worth repeating and I need to hear myself say it to get in into MY HEAD. After I lost my 100 lb., my mom became ill and was declinging. I felt helpless. She was far away and I couldn't even spend a lot of time with her so first off every time I would worry or think of her I would pray "Lord, please keep her peaceful and free from pain". Sometimes that's all we can do for the other person. As for myself, I would make lots of calls, journal, exercise. Exercise is a great release. Going to a gym is a great outlet. Just getting into a different environment helps tgrememdously. Or, just go outside and walk. If you have an ipod or CD player, put in some music to inspire or get your motor going. Having structure always helps me. I would plan out my day and stick to it and not deviate. In fact, that's what I'm doing right now to get back on track. Keeping things simple during these times also helps. Yes, there are many recipes out there to try but for me it was like "food porn". I would just want to try everything. And, if you get off track, don't beat yourself up. Just get back on as quickly as you can. The next meal would be ideal. Planning a snack that would be like a comfort food is also helpful or plan a comfort meal. If I can afford the calories for the day sometimes I buy a 16 oz. Chobani Greek yogurt. It is 240 calories. I add stevia and either cocoa or cinnamon and I eat the entire thing. Hope this helps Gibby. I'll lift up a prayer for you too.

Gibby....Sorry to hear about your friend. I agree with Liz and Linda. You went off plan....there's nothing you can do about that. It is in the past. Now you have your future to consider....so get right back on the loser's train. All their recommendations are great!! Pick a few and try them. Praying is a wonderful idea. Not only for him, but pray for his wife and yourself too.

My mantra (which I say to myself over and over) when I see something I shouldn't eat is, "Poison...poison...poison. Why would I want to put poison in my mouth?" Foods like that ARE indeed poison.

Sending prayers and hugs your way....

Gibby..I also agree with Liz and Linda...for me Staying busy/occupied is key and like Liz says, One piece of cake is NOT going to make you gain all you lost. I also have a friend that lost her husband the same way..actually it was my Pastor at our church in AR. for you...

What's salting?
I am very salt sensitive and gain sometimes 5-7lbs. over night..I know it sounds crazy..but if I don't watch it I will retain water with a little salt. I don't usually salt anything when I cook. Eating out is bad news.. So when it happens I say I've been SALTED

Auntie M, sorry to hear about your friend. I like the ideas already mentioned. I know I have gotten into the food, but it has been "legal" low carb stuff like nuts and cheese. Not the best choice but at least not sugar. Or a OMM has done the trick too.

Good morning....We had SNOW last night. They had predicted "flurries." Yeah, right....
They were wrong!! It looks like we had a couple of inches.
And the leaves are not only not off the trees, most of the leaves haven't even changed color yet.

It got really cold too. It's a little almost 10:30am and it's only 30* out there.

This is too much like Winter......I want Fall back....

Have a good weekend....See ya tomorrow!!

Auntie M - I feel like Dorothy in the wizard of Oz What is an OMM?

Snow, what the heck is that?

Thanks for everyone's support - I'm back on plan. I ordered the original Atkins book that was published in 1972 - it's out of print and I'm glad I found it. It's a lot more strict than the later editions. I'm giving it a read.

Take care everyone.

Good morning....

I lived in Billings, Montana for 5 years and it was not at all unusual to have snow this early. It is WAY too early for it here....and definitely too early for the temps we have been (and still are) having. This is typical December weather for us. I hope this is not a warning from Mother Nature about what is to come. It got down to 22* last night. Normal low is 56*. What's going on?

I'm going to have to give pork more emphasis in my WOE and see if it works better. I am going nowhere. I am REALLY tired of bouncing up and down. I was UP another 0.2 lbs this morning...and it looks like it will be an UP number for the week's total again. I've got to eat some more of the steaks I have on hand first though. I don't want to lose them and they will keep just so long in a freezer.

Am going to Sheri & Dave's for dinner. I'm taking some ribeyes with me. I'll have chicken or a shake for lunch. The shakes don't go too well with the cold weather. I tried one in hot coffee once but didn't like it at all.

Have a good one, and stay warm!!!

OMM One minute muffin. There is a sticky in the recipe suggestions thread for these.

Yea, we had flurries yesterday, nothing measurable. Son's flag fb games cancelled due to wind chill WTHeck!!! Today he is supposed to have a soccer game. It is mid 30s here, so we shall see.

I made homemade ham salad today, man is it yummy. I have purchased it at the grocery store before, but too sweet. One grocery store has ham salad that is bright pick, too unnatural. I found Mt. Olive SF sweet relish, sweet pickles, and bread and butter chips. Yummy.

JUDY~ a few more links for OMM. If you search for "one minute muffin" you can find more. I threw in the 3 min. chocolate cake because I'm craving chocolate:blush: The original recipe for the 3 min. choc. cake is AWESOME. It uses almond meal and is totally delish...but a bit higher on the carbs due to almond meal.

http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ma...e-muffins.html has chocolate OMM

Good morning.....My weight is holding today....better than up. I am UP a total of 2 lbs for last week.
I hope it goes back down soon. All I can do is stay on plan and see what happens.

Yesterday's Menu:
L: 3 eggs fried in CO & butter
D: 8 oz. Ribeye
Not enough water.

Here's Today's Meditation. It's a good one.

Liz....Thanks for the links.

I have to go out this afternoon and it's cold out there. It's 36*....That's still almost 20* BELOW normal.

Brrrrrrrr.....not ready for this. Especially mentally.

Have a good day....See ya later.
