O....K......working from home today, and busy....but I thought I would share.

Some of you will think I am crazy...but Im ok with that.

Our resident ghost just made her presence known. Im sitting here working away, and was just overwhelmed with the scent of perfume. Very very flowery. I very rarely wear scents, and when I do its essential oil. This was very different from anything I wear.

The woman who last owned this house did die here. Her name was Millie, so I suspect it is Millie that is here, for the most part.

Was there on my left, and then gone. Maybe 10-15 seconds.

Ok..back to your regularly programmed day. lol

I don't think that's crazy at all, i think it's awesome! at my MIL's house the same thing happens in the back room. Just suddenly overpowered with perfume and a woman died there too. It's very strange. We randomly took a bunch of pictures in the house and on several of them you can see something. I looked it up once and they called them moving orbs almost looked like a telephone cord going across the room. Perfect story for our Halloween thread too.

Stressful day,..my day off, but my two daughters decided they needed to shake my world up. I have to remember,..my two daughters and I should never get into a car together, ever,..never ever, ever ,ever :-)
Weight was 208.0

Ok so anyhow, before my youngest daughter managed to drag me out of the house with my hair barely brushed I managed my Breakfast...

B~ Meatloaf, green beans, mashed turnip, iced tea
S~ iced coffee
L~ skipped it
S~ skipped it (still out with daughter arguing all the way)
D~ sliced steak with peppers and zucchini

Yesterday I stuck to the whole menu. Dinner, I turned the ground beef into meatloaf with green beans and mashed turnip

By the way I so love when those passed on, pass by :-) my Dad is known to do it from time to time. I love when they mess with the lights!

Oh and Halloween, I thought it was on a saturday???

Results for today.

Cals- 1,014
Fat- 90.5
Carb- 17.3
Protein- 30.7

80% fat. I needed to get that number up to 90 but didn't make it. This looks more like induction to me so i'll attempt to get that fat percent higher tomorrow. All in all it was a good day. Not much hunger. I've still got about 8 lbs of water on me i think. lol

Made it through my first day back

I made it low carb today. It wasn't easy since I have re-addicted myself to all the bad stuff. I'm going to utilize fitday for awhile to keep myself accountable. I ate 27 carbs today (too many) and ate 2249 calories. I wasn't stressing my numbers too much today. Tomorrow I will aim to stay within my 20 carb count and I won't worry about calories until I get into ketosis.

Today's menu:
bacon, eggs, and lc ketchup
chicken, yogurt
atkins bar, mozzarella
cream cheese, peanut butter
lc pita bread, hummus, and cucumbers

I decided not to go to the gym for the rest of the week. I figure it's better to wait a week than to risk going too early and getting set back in my illness. See you guys tomorrow!

Cheryl!!!!

I think I am getting passed the headache body aches,..they have been a bit brutal,..I hate withdrawal. My girls are 19 and 23, suppose the are young ladies,..when not in my presence that is :-)

Ok I have decided to totally take the day off today...I am going to even let me calls go to voicemail. I missed so much of the summer this year running around for work, I need to let the kids have the last half week of summer.

Ok so menu for the day not sure :-)
B~ kielbasa with peppers and mushroom and cherry tomatos from the garden
Iced tea
S~ iced coffee
L~ probably more of breakfast
D~ to be determined,..I have to shop.

scale still reads 208.0 today.

That fat plan looks intriguing....

You know my mom, she did atkins a few years back, maybe 6 come to think of it. She dropped all her weight,..and is wondefully thin,..we called her sta jones for a while,..without the surgery. Anyhow, All these years later she eats virtually what she wants, and the moment she puts on five pounds she does induction,..then goes on with her business. So wish I could get there

oh and Have a great vacation!!!

thinking

You know I was just looking over our posts and Yay to Jenn, by the way,..But I think the interesting thing is old atkins versus new atkins.
I have been thinking about my Mom alot,..she really had a basic menu,..eggs for breakfast, chickens salad for lunch, cheese and sf jello for snack (when she modernized she added low carb yogurt) and for dinner it was some meat and mashed cauliflower or salad, veggies she ate sour cream and cream cheese and so on. She drank iced coffees and fresca, But again just a basic menu,..no low carb pancakes,..no low carb bars, no low carb wraps or bread and so on. She never watched her calories and knew for the most part she was within the 20 carb mark because of her basic menu. She kind of amazed me,..she was hardcore until she lost the weight then she eats whatever the heck she wants,...and just does induction when those five pounds come back on. She looks fab and this has to be 6 years now. For myself when I first lost, I was more creative in my menu, I just edited all my favorite recipes with a low carb version,..and I lost weight and alot of it, not as much as her though,..I never counted calories, nor even carbs,..I just sort of idiot proofed my basic ingredients. I always had a low carb atkins bar for snack at night though or cheese chips or pepperoni chips I made dipped in whipped cream and sour cream. I ate and enjoyed myself.
Now I look at myself and see such slow weight loss,..and I wonder to myself is it because I use almond flour and flax for muffins, pancakes and so on,..something I did not do before......wraps... and the south beach bars,..I think they may taste better but the atkins bars maybe they were better thought out. I am just kinda wondering,..is this why I have such a slow loss now? Maybe it also is why I so easily fall off on the diet now and take months to try to get back on only to make it 2 weeks maybe 3 at most.
Then again, maybe it age too,..when i really lost weight was 6 years back...late thirties as opposed to early forties. The other thing is maybe I have bad recollection,..I was on atkins last time from february to late may,..and I never got on the scale,..in fact the way i knew I lost so much weight was trying on a dress for my oldest daughters graduation and being shocked at how many dress sizes I had gone down. In the end I was lingering in the 160's and then I just blew it. So I guess the possibility is that I am losing at the same rate, but I am just more focused on the scale numbers every darn day.
Well I guess it just is what it is,..and I am going to just keep trucking on.
But what is everyone elses experiences...have any of you noticed a drastic weight loss change from going basic hardcore induction as opposed to staying within range and being more creative with ingredients?

Thanks Lisa, I definitely lose much more weight when I do induction style. The thing is, I don't want to lose weight too quickly. I'm worried about the condition of my skin so I added alot of higher carb foods (and cheat days) in order to slow my weight loss. It was easier when I never felt hungry and I can't help but get excited when I see a whoosh on the scale but it's better this way. For me. That's the thing, I don't think there's one way that's better for everyone. You just have to find what works for you. I hope that you find the way that works best for you.

Shell. I know it seems gross but most of the times it's the only way I can choke down scrambled eggs. Today it was fried eggs covered in hot sauce. You do what ya gotta do. How's your fat fast going? How long are you going to stay on it?

Cheyenne, I wish food was gross to me! I feel like I'm hungry all of the time.

Cheryl, Hope you had a great birthday. We miss you!

Dawn, Are you still working like a mad man?

Ok, ya'll have a great day. I'll check back in with my menu later.

P.S I'm back down to 228. Yippee!!!!

I think you have a point Lisa.

I know that I loose much easier when I stick to the Induction type menus. But it is very hard to stick to that for the amount of time it will take to loose a 100 or more pounds.

I think what might work best, for me anyway, is to do induction style menus for a while, and when I start feeling weak as far as my will power goes, add in some of the other low carb things, like the almond flour etc until I feel strong again, and then go back to the induction menus.

I havent made the lc pancakes at this point...I do have some carb quick, but havent used it. I will probably save it for OWL or perhaps for maintainence and use it for pizza crusts or something of that nature. But right now I am afraid it will jump start my cravings.

My breakfasts, if I have them, are usually either eggs or LC hot cereal using thickenthins not cereal/protein powder and flax seed meal.

My lunches tend to be chicken salad, tuna salad or egg salad. Occasionally left over meat.

And My dinners are most often roasted meat, a salad and a vegetable. Sometimes I do things like atkins meatloaf (thats what Im having tonight) and my carb count is usually around 15.

If I stick to that, I loose pretty well...my biggest problem comes when I have some of the other things.

ahh scrambled eggs might be ok. you don't wanna know what i was picturing! The fat fast is going ok. It sure is hard to get it up to 90% though. I'm not very hungry but man do i want to eat! The water weight is coming off quick though 4 lbs of it in 3 days so i'm making progress there. Congrats on getting back down to 228!!! You'll be in the 1's before you know it.

P.S. Cream cheese and peanut butter sorta rocks.

I eat a lot of egg salad, because I like it better than just eggs.

Adding salsa makes them more palatable too. I like poached, and I will have them that way with toast (zero carb bread) The bread is very fibery, if you know what I mean, but it is pretty good toasted with butter to sop up the yolks.

If you like deviled eggs...look at the ingredients and see if you can make eggs and just mix in the ingredients for deviled eggs (I think its lc, but not sure, so you would need to look)

scrambled w/ sausage or bacon and cheese, green peppers and mushrooms is good,if you can afford an extra carb or two.

I gotta know about this zero carb bread..... i lovvvvve sopping up the yolks.

Chocolate drizzle....mmmm sounds great!

I eat alot of deviled eggs too. Just mustard, mayo, and sf relish. or chicken salad with equal parts mayo and sourcream sooo good.

Today I ended up with..

Calories-962 Fat 92.7 Carbs-10.9 (4 were fiber) Protein-23.6
85% fat (that's better)

Here is a link to the product:

HEALTHWISE BAKERY ZERO CARB PLAIN BREAD - $7.99 : LoCarbU.com

It's ok. I dont think I would like to eat it on a sandwich...it does have that fibery taste. But its good for sopping up the yolks, and I think it will make a good stuffing come Thanksgiving.

They also make hamburger buns/rolls (I think they are the same thing, just in different packages) I like those. You cant taste the fibery taste/texture when you have the hamburger and the fixings.

Something for helping to curb snacking....

I was just browsing netrition and saw these. All the reviews rave about them...I may have to give them a try. They are supposed to help suppress the appetite while tasting very good.

Curb bites with Hoodia

Healthsmart Foods Curb Bites with Hoodia

And this might be a better substitute than peanut butter for mixing with cream cheese...it only has one carb per tbs

I have bookmarked the LaNouba spread. I have to add that to my next order. I love nutella so much and would love this. I bet it would be great mixed with yogurt.

I buy the organics brand of peanut butter and it is only 1.5 cho per Tablespoon

I buy the julian's bakery bread and I love love love it! It's one carb per slice with 12 grams of fiber, and 12 grams of protein. It's dense but soooooo good. I've made french toast with the cinnamon almond raisin (2 carbs ea.), grilled cheese sandwiches, and of course toast with butter to sop up those yolks!

Thank You Dawn, I book marked the site too. I'm gonna wait a bit on the bread till it's alot cooler cause of the mold thing they mentioned but i can't wait to try it. I love Nutella too, is the spread similar?

Jenn- Where do you get Julians bread?

I have a digital scale and it was messing with me this morning. It kept going from 203 to 205 and apparently it couldn't decide so who knows if i'm making any progress here. Still truckin' on with it though.

They have a website. If you google Julian's bakery or smartcarb bread it should give you the address. It also has the mold issue. I accidentally put my loaf in the cabinet instead of the fridge and two days later it was a science experiment.

Are we weighing in today? Or are we weighing in on Tuesday?

S) lavash, cream cheese, and smoked salmon
D) King crab and butter

I went out for drinks tonight and stuck to diet coke. I need to back off of the fat. I've been going crazy with it the last couple of days. Protein was a bit high today. I work this weekend so I might not keep such good track but my focus is to eat a more balanced diet starting on Monday. I've been eating strict the last three days and I haven't experienced that wonderful loss of appetite.

Yesterday I lost count. I had it all added up but then right before bed i felt like i was starving! So I ate three deviled eggs and a salad. The only thing on the salad not induction friendly was sunflower seeds. So i'm not sure what my count was. I believe I was still verrry high fat but I think my calories were around 1500. But since I didn't measure, I don't have the absolute totals. The salad had spring mix lettuce (very small amount) cheese, ranch, boiled eggs, and seeds. The eggs had mustard, mayo, and SF relish.

Today the scale gave me 203 every time i stepped on it so that is my official 1st weigh in for today.

I'm going to my brothers house for brisket and the fixings. I've got to be sneaky and only eat the deviled eggs that i'm bringing. Ohhh i'll have other stuff on my plate but it's not going in my belly....shneeky shneeky

Good morning all. checking in.

It should be a lovely quiet long weekend for me, and I am pleased about that. The temps have come down and it is lovely outside.

I made the atkins meatloaf last night so we will be having that for dinner the next couple of nights. I actually like leftovers, because it means less clean up. I hate clean up. lol

so menu for today is about the same as it has been.

B: lc mocha
psyllium
L: probably egg salad again.
D: atkins meatloaf, broccoli and salad.

I just placed a netrition order. I am so bummed to see that the thickenthin not cereal is not longer being offered by the manufacturer. That has become a staple for me at work. Not sure what I'll do now. Several other products are no longer being offered either...the pudding, I think is one. Im bummed about that too.

Aww i'm sorry Dawn that stinks. I was pretty upset a few years ago when all the LC products started disappearing off the shelves too. I kept asking about them but they were long gone. Had to resort back to the basics. Those helped me get through some tough times for sure.

Figured out my menu today. Basically just a tiny salad, deviled eggs, coffee, and cream cheese. It comes out at...

Cals- 1,030 Fat- 100.1 Carbs- 8.1 Protein- 26.7
86% fat

That brisket is going to be awfully tempting but i'm very close to getting out of the 200's.
