Oh, it really burns me up when I write long posts and then somehow make a wrong move and lose it all, grrrrrrr. So, all my personals went down the tubes into cyberland somewhere.

Sam, can you give yourself permission to have a carb up day once a week and say it's OK? Maybe if you stay on track then go out for some drinks you might even find you make healthier food choices. What are some of the food issues you face? Maybe we can all brainstorm a plan for you.

Judy, good job on keeping the scale moving down.

Vicki, I've not read labels at times and have done the same thing.

Lizzie, thanks for the b'day wishes.

Lei, speaking of work, how's it going? Are you still happy with it?

Liz, how's it going.

5 people to get stuck in an elevator, huh? First of all, I'm with Lizzie in that if I did get stuck in an elevator my anxiety lever would ne so high (I'm claustrophobic) that first off I'd need:
1. Dr. Phil to keep me from having an anxiety attack
2. Madea to keep me laughing
3. Gilad to give me some workout tips
4. Barbara Streisand to keep us entertained
5. Paula Deen cuz maybe she's have some snacks with her

Day 3 on track again. I need to bottle this feeling when I'm on track so that I don't forget how good it feels. Have a grat Saturday.
BTW both Jasmine and Romeo are doing great Romeo's last episodes of pain seemed all diet related. Once his food was changed from high fiber to low residue he has taken a big turn for the better. Ahhh, I'm feeling like there's life beyond cats again.

I'm a happy camper I gained 6.8 lbs while visiting my sister....and have lost 5.6 so far. Another 1.2 to go. I did really good at the brunch this morning. They had LOTS of stuff that is NOT on my plan. I had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and decaf coffee. I watched people eating 3 kinds of sweetrolls, biscuits & gravy, hashbrowns, etc. and didn't feel deprived at all. That's what I like about this WOE. It's satisfying....and after being on it for just a short period of time, cravings are GONE!!

Long live M&E, VLC, and even just LC.

Found the questions....

Sandra Bullock
Bette Midler
George Clooney
Can't think of his name, but he played Strider in Lord of the Rings - dreamy!!!!
Ellen Degeneris

Lots of laughs and sexy men, woohoo!!!!!!

Congratulations Judy!!!!! I cheated and weighed today and I lost over a pound so I'm hoping the stall is over (please, please, please!)

Here is today's eating:

B-2 bacon strips and 2 eggs
L-cobb salad at Coco's with creamy dressing
D-large can of canned chicken with mayo and a dollop of sour cream, one stalk of celery and onione slice of onion.

S-SF jello with a squirt of low fat redi-whip

Had a fun day today. Got together with my good friend and we went to the thrift stores in the neighborhood. One of them was having a 50% off sale so I picked up a few things that I needed and a few things that I didn't!

Lei-I've been meaning to tell you - I love Vancouver! What a beautiful city! I lived in Bellingham, WA for four years. I'll add more fat to my diet, but I thought I was eating a lot now - frying meat in oil and not trimming it, etc.

Samantha-Can you drink tonic and lime or something like that? Just a thought.

Linda-Just good news about the kitties! I'm so glad that they are better (and so are you!)

Good night everyone-I'm bushed!

I actually live on Vancouver Island Gibby! Even more beautiful than Vancouver! IMO that is, of course I am biased though... No smog, less traffic, lots of pretty green trees, crystal clear rivers, beautiful just all round'... (I could go on and on but I wont bore you)

Answers to the question of the day:

Dr Gregory House (for CPR if I need it)
Sean Connery (just in case Dr House doesn't know how) LOL
Roberto Loungo (well cause he just might need to practise)
James Blunt in case I feel like a little music (and he could probably use a CPR lesson or two as well)
Dr Phil (cause I know I'm gonna need therapy soon after all that CPR)

Isn't it fun hanging out with a good friend, I buy things that I don't need too. It is hard to pass up a good deal.

SG, 9 yr old and I volunteered yesterday at the local RR when Thomas the Tank engine came to town. 9 yr old put tatoos on kids and SG and I were car attendants. We rode 5 times. SG is a RR buff so for his 50th bday today, I got him a print of the Chinese Engine used here for the scenic RR and put it in a frame. I hope he likes it. We are having his Bday party later today and those invited are supposed to bring a gag gift. His youngest DD has a soccer game this afternoon too. Busy day ahead along with a walk squeezed in there.

Good morning....More good news...I was DOWN another 2 lbs this morning.

That's all the vacation weight gone plus another 0.8 of a lb. I'll definitely be on plan again today and see if I can keep this going in the right direction. The improvement in my arthritis alone is worth staying on plan. Carbs are killers....especially for arthritis.

Today's menu will probably be a protein shake for lunch and chicken for dinner.

A beautiful Fall week coming up. They are predicting scattered showers, but since my deck/balcony is covered, and I can still sit out there and also grill out, I don't mind the rain. The temps are going to be GREAT!!

OMG Judy, that IS good news. Sounds like your trip shook things up just enough to get the scale moving. Good job.

OK, I'll jump in with the question of the day which will also help us when we are down. I read somewhere once that you should keep a "feel better or humor tool kit" on hand for time when you are down. So I challenge all of us to come up with a cute little basket or tote bag that you can keep out so that when you are down you can use your tools to get you feeling better. They don't all have to be humorous but can also be some things to make you feel better. It will be great to get ideas from each other to build our tool kit too. OK, name atleast 5 to start...............GO

1. I Love Lucy DVD.
2. Madea Goes To Jail DVD
3. An Inspirational Daily Devotion Book
4. A candle
5. A pretty notepad and a pen to jot down feelings.

In my basket:

1. Bubble Bath
2. A good book
3. Ice cream-I know it isn't "legal", but it makes me feel good
4. Soft "elevator" music
5. Candles

Hi guys,
Roger went out of town so I took myself to the movies and saw Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself. It was great. I laughed out loud (which I don't often do). I cried but then left really uplifted. Just what I needed.

I really encourage all of you to actually put together a humor/feel good tool kit. I started mine today. I got all the items on my list and put them in a really large, cute tote bag that I never use that is blue (my favorite color) with tapestry cats on it. I plan to add to it. I also added sugarfree hot chocolate packets too. It is something that when you need some uplifting that you can look in and use some of the tools. I put a DVD I have of I Love Lucy episodes (10 of them) as one of the things I can use to pop in the DVD player when I'm feeling low. I plan to keep the tote bag in a place in my bedroom where I can see it as a reminder. I'm hoping to get more ideas from all of you. I've already gotten ideas from Lizzie's and Gibby's list (bubble bath & uhhhhh yes, the dark chocolate).

Good morning girls..

Everytime I post a loss I gain it back

I have resigned my job at the Pizza Place..didn't work out. So I am going out today to look for something else..it is hard going out looking for work when I have been self employed for the last 15 yrs.

Have a good one...

Good luck finding a job! I'm sure something will come your way. Wow! Working in a pizza parlor while on LC must have been killer!

Here's my eating plan for today:

B-2eggs
S-string cheese and deli turkey roll up
L-1 chicken thigh and 1 chicken leg
S-Canned tuna with mayo, 1 celery stalk and one slice of onion
D-Not sure - some kind of protein with a small salad with EVOO and vinegar

Everyone have a great day!

BTW, I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 2.8 pounds so I think the stall is broken - yea!!!!

Good morning, everyone....More good news. DOWN another 0.6 of a pound this morning. And I even had some beef sausage & cheese and a few mixed nuts last night for a snack while playing poker with DD Sheri & Dave at their house.
Had fun and still lost some!!

It's overcast right now. Had a thunderstorm during the night....but the rain has stopped. I think we are supposed to get some more light rain throughout the day, but nothing like the South has been getting. Atlanta, Georgia got over 12 inches and has lots of flooding. Several South-Central states are having flooding. Not sure just which ones, but I do know that Texas is one of them.

Have a good day, my friends....WCBL....have to run. I'm getting an oil change on the car today and it's time to go!!

See ya later....

Hi everyone

I had a good weekend. One of my a/c's was out which made it too hot to cook in my kitchen. We usually don't go out to eat very often but we went twice this weekend and I enjoyed it.

I made really good choices and felt good after both meals (indian buffet and a persian restaurant) I stuck to lower carb/calorie choices and totally enjoyed them.
Today, however, I am suffering "REVENGE OF THE GOAT". aaarrrgggghhhh
I was brave and tried a hunk of "goat" at an indian buffet. It was very spicy and had a rather yuck texture....really fatty but yet kinda tough at the same time (I thought fatty meat was tender?!?!?) Anyhow....my gut is making more noise than the thunderstorm outside and I've become really well acquainted with my downstairs bathroom.

JUDY~ congrats on the continued loss...especially after eating salty stuff We got quite a bit of that rain in Birmingham but my house is on top of a hill so thankfully no flooding here. I do have total empathy for folks that get flooding since I'm from New Orleans and have many times walked in streets with waist high water

LIZZIE~ sending you many good thoughts and prayers to find a job that will make you happy What did you do as a self-employed person? (please disregard if you'd rather not answer)

GIBBY~ BRAVO on breaking that stall! You are really doing great and it WILL pay off!!! Not only are you eating the "right" foods but you seem to be eating them in reasonable quantities (that is MY problem...too much of the "right" stuff). How is your appetite?

sounds like a really FUN time! Thanks for sharing. I'm sure SG will love your gift

LINDA~ I'm glad you're feeling better. I really like tyler perry movies! I'll have to check that one out.

LEI~ mmmm...did you say chocolate chip cookies...mmmmm

SAM~ My DH is going to Chicago this week. I am SO MAD that I can't go this time. It is only for 1 day I would have loved to meet you.

Wow! Goat-never had that before. Hope make it to the bathroom on time My appetite is great! I get full on reasonable quantities so I find that I'm not overeating. That is a miracle in itself, as I am a big eater. I've been hesitant to make some of the "gloppy" LC recipes; i.e. hamburger stroganoff, etc. because I love casseroles and I'm afraid I'll eat the whole darn thing! I'll get more brave after I get out of these da**ed 300's!!

I need your input. Going to lunch with the girls on Wednesday for Chinese - like one of the WORST places to go for LC, the worst being Mexican....

The place we are going doesn't use MSG and you can have them make it without sugar so I was thinking any kind of meat or shrimp with vegetables, no rice. Sound ok???

I'll make sure to drink mega water that day, too!

Liz....What GREAT advice. I'm printing that out for future reference. I seldom go to a Chinese Restaurant, but that will be helpful. Thanks so much for sharing that.

Ok, since I've been slacking on the question of the day....I have one...

Name 5 of the happiest/most exciting days/events of your life. It doesn't have to be a huge event, although those are good......just something that made you happy

1. wedding day to DH
2. my first trip to Lebanon to meet DH's family ...being greeted at the airport by a group of people who treated us like rock stars (plus I got roses from 3 different people)
3. my last trip to orlando...getting to meet Linda and Yvonne AND spending a few days at universal studios.

4. the day I realized that I loved DH....I know the exact minute...we were watching Shrek in the theater and DH was laughing louder than ANYONE in the theater...he is such a serious guy usually...this childish humor won my heart

5. the day I got my dog (she is gone now but remembering her first day always makes me smile)
She had 8 other siblings. I was there to choose a puppy. Talk about a hard decision! All of the puppies were running around doing puppy stuff, totally oblivious to me....except one. This puppy walked right up to me looked up at me and firmly nudged with with her nose. She then proceeded to walk towards the car. That dog picked me

You're both very welcome.

Since Gibby also mentioned the difficulty of eating out mexican I'll post some helpful info for that:

Carne Asada
A big slab of moist and juicy beef is the perfect answer to low-carb. You can't go wrong.
Fajitas
These usually come in beef and chicken, but ask about the marinade. Some marinades contain sugar and that may be a no-no according to your eating plan. Ask them to hold the tortillas, beans, rice and add extra onions and peppers.
Chile Relleno
Chile relleno is a cheese-stuffed chile dipped in egg and fried. You may want to verify that they don't smother it with a "carby" sauce. You can however ask for some cheese to melt on top. Add some salsa for extra flavor.
Chile Verde
A wonderful stew of pork and green chiles. The ingredients should be carb-friendly.
Ceviche
Usually served as an appetizer, but also makes a filling meal. Use fresh vegetables to eat it or top a salad with it for an interesting variation.
Ensalada (Salad)
Most ingredients in salads are fine for low-carb. Make sure to hold the carrots, tortilla strips and other low-carb offenders and ask them to add some chicken or beef fajitas on top to make it more filling. Question the dressing too. Ranch and cilantro dressings are fine, but double check the ingredients on the others.
Guacamole and Salsa
These tasty appetizers are naturally low-carb, but watch out for the chips! Ask for a side of celery or cucumber for your "dippers."
Gazpacho
This lovely tomato based soup is naturally low-carb and even more satisfying if it happens to be shrimp gazpacho. The added seafood will keep you full longer.
Carnitas
This shredded pork is a low-carb favorite. Flavorful and juicy, it can be eaten alone or with a side salad for a well-rounded meal. In a Pinch Order a taco or a burrito with no beans or rice and heavy on the meat, lettuce and tomato. If you want to, order sour cream, extra sauce or onions. Open it up and eat the insides like a salad. Do not eat the tortilla.

I always order egg foo young, and chicken and broccoli (without the cornstarch.. Just ask and most are happy to do it for you) Aside from that, liz gave us some great info!!

Yeah!! We have another player!!

1) The day my daughter was born (she passed away 45 minutes after birth but those few precious moments were true bliss)
2) The day I graduated and decided to go into Dementia Care
3) My dad's Celebration of Life, was incredible to see all the people who showed up to say their goodbyes, the stories they shared..
4) Spending 14 glorious days in Cuba, most beautiful place I have seen in a long time
5) The day I realized that I am in total control of myself..

Great question Liz, thanks!!
