~~LC Our Way August ~~

OMG I can't believe August is here already! I feel that July was the first month in ages where I was lighter at the end of the month than at the beginning. I hope to repeat that for August but with an even bigger loss.

I'm cooking up a batch of tilapia, and I think I'll sautee spinach with some garlic. I'm craving fat and butter so I'll use plenty of that too.

I'm getting my hair cut, then hitting the trail for a walk.

Kritter, thanks for starting the new thread! Wow, August.

I have to say I this is the first time in a while I can say I've lost 5 pounds last month. Usually I feel more like a cheerleader for the rest of you...

Logging my meals has been really helpful, plan on continuing to use ************.

I'm here. Gosh August makes me realize that SCHOOL STARTS SOON. My staff starts back August 10.
Poor DS lost his wakeboard. Since they fasten on a rack with straps I am thinking it was stolen. Either in town when he stopped to eat at a restaurant or out of our front yeard. The boat is sitting right out front. I am betting the restaurant. Anyway, he will be wanting a new one and that one cost $450. I am broke from paying the Exxon bill. It never ends.
I opened the door to let Squeaker in this morning after we had finished our morning chores and she was standing there with a dead kitty in her mouth expecting me to let her come inside with it. BAD SQUEAKER.

Well I guess I am the BAD one too. I am the exact same weight now as when I started July. Vacation did me in and I haven't gotten back on track yet.

Adi, you are not bad! Gee, with a trip, foot surgery, etc, maintaining is a good thing. Now Squeaker, on the other hand, BAD DOG! Too sad about wakeboard getting stolen, DS should keep a better eye. Still, it's always such a violation when someone steals from us, I'm sorry that happened.

I have not been good, fine during the day (like Lil Miss) then blowing it at night. I looked at my caloiries, I need to eat more during the day, so that is my goal today.

I found that I can add Ezekial bread into my diet, yay bread! So I had a BLT with one of my friesh tomatoes today. OMG, there's a variety I'm growing , it's called Paul Robeson, it is sublime. Just drive on over & I'll send you home with some.

Mmmm, I love BLTs! Do you toast your Ezekiel bread? I find if not toasted, it's awful, but when it's toasted, it's really good. I looked up the Paul Robeson tomato!

I think we all have that problem with not eating enough during the day. It happens to me mostly on the weekends if I'm out and about and busy and don't take the time to eat a decent lunch. Then by dinner, I'm like Godzilla ready to devour Tokyo! It also happens to me if I don't eat enough fat.

adi, Squeaker is so bad! Poor little cat. I think Squeaker should be grounded! Or thrown in the pool.

Hope you're having a great time lil miss!

I had a little bid of trail mix today, which included a few M&Ms. I forgot I bought blueberries yesterday. They're the best blueberries I've ever had! Nice and sweet. I'm baking hot dogs and brocolli. We had lots of rain earlier but now suns out so I guess I'll go for a walk.

Kritter, thanks for the heads up on toasting the bread first, there was a guy checking out ahead of me in line at Trader Joes with Ezekial bread in his cart, he warned me too that it needs to be toasted. I also bought their flat bread (like a tortilla) that I put in the freezer. I like that the carbs are low and that it's not a fake bread like the tortillas I used to use when I was lowcarbing. Those never would go bad in the fridge! Scary.

I love blueberries! It's so hard to find good ones fresh though, I usually just buy the frozen.

LOL dak, I used to wonder the same thing about the tortillas that never went bad in my fridge.

I finally got up the courage to get on the scale this morning ! I gained about 10 pounds over the last few months. Hoping this BFC works!

We all think alike. I ate two slices of Ezekial bread (toasted) with my two eggs this morning. I ususally have some in the freezer. Yesterday I had an Ezekial bread sandwich with mustard and turkey breast and mozarella cheese. I certainly enjoyed it.

DS said he didn't stop to eat out Thursday night and Friday afternoon is when he couldn't find the wakeboard. I am betting someone that knows him got it off the boat in our front yard. All they had to do was count vehicles and would know we were all gone. He hasn't mentioned buying another one. He stilll has a kneeboard so I guess that is what they used today. He took Squeaker to the lake with him since they didn't leave to go until 5 when it got cooler. He put her in the crate and took her life vest. He stopped by at 9 and dropped her off on his way back to town. She was jumping all over the place. The boy that brought her in said she sure could swim fast.

I am taking a loose pair of socks to work and I am going barefooted (with socks on) during the day. Feels so much better than shoes. I only have one pair of shoes that I can wear for a long time. Ouch.

Forgot to weigh this morning but I want to get on track for August. I did drink my water at work today which is something I am real bad about not doing.

Adi, would birkenstocks work for your feet? You know the classic slip on style? They're not attractive at all, IMO, but they might work for you till December. They are extremely comfortable.

So nice that your DS took Squeaker boating with him. I can just see her hanging out with the boys.

Kritter, sometimes it's nice not knowing what's on the scale! (at least for me) Have to say though, when I stay on plan, the scale does go down. Just getting off the sugar takes a couple of weeks.

Lil Miss! Hope you're having a great time!!!

Hi All!

Krit-whats BFC?

Dak-your tomatoes sounds amazing!

Adi-Bad Squeaker! So cute DS took her on the boat, sorry about his wakeboard!

I am fine. Was on plan yesterday, then drank quite a bit last night and ate a hershey bar! Darnit.

Ran 3.5 miles the other day to the lighthouse and back.

Already had a bite of doughnut this am. My eating hasnt been perfect, when we take the kids for ice cream I dont get any but I try a bite of theirs. Thats an improvement from last year when I would get my own. This all being said, I do NOT like how I look and need to buckle down post vacation.

Hope you're all doing well!

Hey chickies!

lil miss, you ran that Hershey bar off! Are you guys in Michigan, on the lake? BFC is Belly Fat Cure.

Dak, I'm going to try to stick to not weighing more than once a week.

Adi, that's so cute that he took Squeaker on the boat. I'm glad you can get some relief at work.

Stayed on plan today and went for a two mile walk after work. That new path I've been walking is on a slight incline and my calves have started to kill me! So I'm treating them to a nice flat trail until my calves heal and then I'll try the hill again, but maybe only once a week.

Hi all.
I am surprised but this no sugar thing seems to be working. Even eating Ezekial bread I am slowly dropping. Fun. And I am enjoying the toast with my eggs and had a real sandwich yesterday too. Brought one for lunch too. I am thinking a sandwich with mustard, lettuce, sliced turkey and mozzarella cheese is lower in calories than a salad soaked with dressing (the way I like it).

Dak - Anything that touches the top of my foot hurts. If I remember the Birkenstocks might go up too high but I can look. Thanks for the suggestion. Ugly doesn't matter. Pain does.

Lilmiss - Hope you enjoyed the Hershey Bar. Those are DS' favorite. But I agree with kritter. You ran it off.
kritter - stay off the scale if weighing daily doesn't work for you. I have to weigh every morning to keep myself on track. I have a short attention span I guess.

adi, that is great that you can eat Ezekiel bread and drop. One of my favorite meals is toast dipped in egg yolk. I'm the same with my salad - it has to be drowned in dressing

I got a couple of roasted chickens from the Amish market. Boy are they good! I was planning on making some chicken salad, but now I'm thinking of some sandwiches on Ezekiel bread.

Hmm, maybe we should change our thread name to "BFC with Ezekiel Bread!"

I'm making a bunch of bacon and am thinking of having chicken, bacon and lettuce sandwich on Ezekiel for lunch tomorrow. Mmm, I'm drooling thinking about it.

lil miss, have you guys ever vacationed in NC's Outer Banks? We stayed in Corolla Light 2 years ago and thought it was a great family spot. You can rent HUGE house, with your own small in-ground pool and the houses can fit several families.

I don't think I'd do it again because it's a LONG ride, and for that long of a drive, I want the water to be blue

Bacon sounds good kritter. Hmmmm wonder if I have any?

Just got home from a 575 mile round trip to go get two Saanen does. It took me 13 hours. COurse that included numerous stops along the way for fuel and bathroom breaks and just breaks. I think I did great. I am about to go milk my new girls.

And BAD SQUEAKER found kittens. Don't have to tell you what she did. I have her locked out of the house and in the back yard.

dak, get lots of rest. Maybe you're coming down with something.

adi, I wind up doing the same thing with Oliver when he finds a nest of mouse babies or baby birds. He won't let up until he's killed them all so I just put him under house arrest for a few days

I had a chicken/bacon/lettuce sandwich this morning on Ezekiel bread and was overstuffed. I'm going to start having just a 1/2 sandwich because that bread is so filling.

Went to my market yesterday and burned up but forced myself to go to the grocery store after I packed up so I could stock up on ezekial bread. Got 3 loaves. All I thought I couod fit into the freezer. Also am using iceberg lettuce on my sandwiches. Haven't bought that in years but I love the crunch.
Kritter - I agree that the ezekial bread is filling. try not toasting it. It just seems to get bigger and bigger the more you chew.
Dak - hope you got rested up and that was all you needed.
Lilmiss - Hi.

We took DS to the airport this morning for an early flight. Then he called after lunch to check on his PIN # for his new debit card. The card would not work and the busline only takes cash. Don't know how he got to WP or if he is still trying. I told him he needs to carry cash for an emergency that he would find out that everyone doesn't take plastic.

Hi Guys,

Yes, I'm feeling better, now DH has whatever I had, he's on his 2nd nap today. At least we could sleep whatever it was off.

Weekend going well, did some good shopping yesterday so I shouldn't be tempted to eat out this week.

Kritter, Amish market sounds good! I bet they do good chicken. I picked up a roasted chicken from Costco & going to finish it for dinner tonight.

Adi, you don't toast it? I should be brave & try it that way.

Lil Miss, are you back yet? How was your vacation?

Dak - I toast my ezekial bread but I have tried it untoasted and it is chewy to say the least. Burns up calories doing all of that chewing. Just finished my turkey, mozarella and lettuce sandwich on ezekial bread.

adi, I love iceberg lettuce on a sandwich too. There is not substitute for that crunch!

Oh man, I hope DS gets his pin straightened out. You know, that seems like a typical boy thing to not bother to check it before he left. That is something DH would do.

dak, I'm glad you're feeling better. It's great when you're able to just sleep off whatever is making you feel bad.

I spent most of yesterday reading my bookclub book "The Poisonwood Bible". I made a huge dent in it so I should be able to finish it by the 29th. I didn't exercise at all yesterday or Saturday or today

I remember loving the Poisonwood Bible. I remember the main character has a grumpy neighbor with vertigo, she teaches him a way of stabilizing the crystals in the ear, first time I had ever heard of that.

I ordered a new computer today, I've been thinking about it for a long time and haven't wanted to spend the money. I ordered it from Costco, what got me was the fact that they'll take a return within the first 90 days & that Costco will extend the warranty an extra year. Intel 2 quad processor. Right now I have a 1.6 GHz. I it should be a lot faster.

Adi, your DS sounds like mine. Man/child. So together in some ways and yet still not together in others. So much to figure out in life. I think he appreciates mom even more than before.

Dak, that's a great deal on the computer. I love that they extend the warranty. What operating system did you get? Do they all come with Vista now or can you still get Windows XP?

The book is really good now. It was slow in the beginning but then it picked up. OMG you could not pay me a million dollars to go near the congo, heehee. Bugs and snakes and crocodiles, Oh MY! And famine and floods and droughts and did I mention bugs? Sometimes when I'm reading it, I'm tempted to go around the house kissing every major appliance

I discovered a cereal today that's very high in Vit. B12 and low in sugar so I'm going to try eating a 1/2 cup of that a day with almond milk, and maybe having fish occasionally - if I feel I'm not getting enough protein.

It comes with Vista & will upgrade it to 7 when they release it. Have you heard anything at all about 7? I hope they got together for this one. It just comes with Works, which should let me read the new docx files that are out, I have Office 2000 & am looking at ordering 2003, I've heard horror stories about 2007.

I hear you about the congo, anything rain forest does not appeal to me. I'm a bug magnet.

What's the cereal you found? Brilliant idea to put it in cereal.

Hi Dak, the cereal is Fiber One. I have to eat 3 servings to 100% of the daily recommended, but it's only 60 cal a serving and it doesn't contain any sugar or HFCS. Kellogg's All Bran has a ton of B12, but the 2nd ingredient is sugar and the 3rd is HFCS. What the heck?

I actually like Office 2007. Mostly what I like is Excel. The functions are so easy to use because of intellisense and it's really easy to add pretty shading with lots of color choices. Once you get used to it, it's not bad.

I haven't heard anything about 7. But since I haven't heard any bad things, that's probably a good thing

Today I had

b: Fiber One with almond milk
l & d: cabbage and quinoa
s: blueberries and pistachios

I also got a pedicure

Thanks, that's really good to know about the cereal. Regarding 2007, you are way smarter than me, I found just using Word starting to make me angry. Did not like the top menu disappearing. I really like Publisher, I make up flyers for DH.

A friend came over and wanted to see my worm bin. First time anyone wanted to see it & want to talk about it. My husband was impressed, he didn't think there was that much to talk about with it, LOL.

Good day, had a BLT for lunch, chicken, mushrooms & sauted zucchini for dinner.

Dak, the chicken, mushroom and zuchini sautee sounds delish! Makes me want a stew with mushrooms. If I knew anyone with a worm bin, I'd definitely want to see it, heehee. I can't think of a better conversation piece

OMG that test was gruelling! 95 questions and only 45 minutes to answer them all. But I got a 95! I almost squealed out loud in the test room, heehee. Just getting down to the school was stressful because it's in a super busy area of the city. Have you guys heard of Temple University? That's where I'm going. But once you get to the campus and park, it's really nice and very walkable.

We went out to dinner after work because it's DH's birthday. We just went to a pizza place. It's kind of an upscale pizza place because they server martinis and wine OMG I'm stuffed! I had garlic bread, loaded nachos and some potato skins. I couldn't even eat half of it. I didn't feel too guilty because I didn't eat lunch because I had to leave for the test earlier than I thought.
