So, Back on my plan after the beach. I really, really tried to be so good but dang it was hard. I did well all day and then, typically, at dinner I would eat a few of kid's fries and I would get mad at myself.
Back home now and determined. I leave for beach in 4 weeks, and Paris in 8! Zoinks! Its do or die for me now ladies! I also begin marathon training in earnest in 8 weeks so it would really behoove me to get some extra weight off, better for my joints, etc. Adi-SO great to hear from you! Glad you are enjoying your trip! You relatives sound like real class acts! Giving you pies and feeding you so well! I love them! I aspire to be that hospitable. Dak-How goes things? Keeping up with your exercise? That will really help with the stress of the potential move. When we were in Hilton Head, there was a lot of art work from Spoletto and it reminded me of you and your DH. Kritter-Ouch! Take care of yourself woman! Are you sure you are up for tennis today if you are banged up? TAKE CARE! Sounds like a lovely plan today. I used to play tennis in high school, had SO many lessons my whole childhood but never got to be "great" I wish I could....I took a lesson several years ago when DS1 was born... So, I have one day under my belt altho I did drink vino. Probably some in my future again tonite as we are going out with friends.... Have neighborhood thing at our neighborhood pool and then we are going to our club for dinner [BBQ] and moon bounces etc and fireworks this evening. I am looking forward to it.

Wanted to add:
I joined the mid year resolution challenge as we are 1/2 way thru 2009! They have a system called SMART Goals and I really liked what they had to say, the goals have to be: measureable and not unattainable> For example "I will workout for 3 days" as opposed to I will lose 10 lbs. You can check off the workouts but sometimes cannot control the scale due to hormones etc. My goals are: 15 lbs to lose / 0 lost / 15 to go SMART Goals: Drink 8 glasses of H2O each day Limit alcohol to weekends Run 3 x per week Jillian's SHRED 3 x per week Eat Clean - no cheats, begin tally of cheat free days Induction levels for 2 weeks and then follow the rungs of the ladder |

Thanks for starting the thread lil miss! I never remember. Those are great goals! Have a great time at your parties today. Sounds like a lot of fun for adults and kiddies.
adi, that's so cute about the aunt having all of that food on hand - just in case Glad Squeaker is enjoying her vacation. We never got around to playing tennis, but it was a great day to lay by the pool. It was sunny, no humidity and breezy. This is very unusual for July. DH agreed to play tennis with my on Sundays and Tuesdays. I'm so excited about getting out and moving around. Today I have to take my car to get a trailer hitch then off for a bike ride. |

Hi guys!
lil miss, I keep making goals but forget them right away. I'm going to start adding them to my signature. Maybe I'll remember them if I see them every day. How was your party yesterday? Hi Dak! Did you do anything for the 4th? Hi adi, where are you now? My plans today are Sam's Club for glasses for DH, then tennis, then walking Meg. Oh and lots of laundry ![]() |

Hey Guys,
Had a busy 4th, decided to go out to breakfast with DH around 9, turns out there was a parade at 10, so fun, we caught some of the local parade. Got invited to a friends for dinner, they have a great view of fireworks over the ocean, so nice visit there. Bad me, didn't get to do my weights, gym was closed, I could have done them on my own, but didn't. Now I'm off schedule, usually I shoot for M, W, & Sat. Lil Miss, thanks for posting that quote on weight decades, makes a lot of sense. |

I'm home. We decided to drive all night to get home. We have been through Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma so many times we have just about seen everything there is to see. Got home at 5 am. Went to bed woke up around 8. Went out to see tyhe goats. They missed me. Puppy acted glad to see me too. fed him and the girls. Went ahead and milked my milkers that should be dry now but the brown one may perk back up. She did when we left spring break.
I didn't chek the scale. Probably a 10 pound gain. Never found a highway restaurant with veggeis. Found one with 7 choices of potatoes. That was the record for our trip. Had a couple of good breakfast but other meals were entree, baked potato and salad. Then I had ice cream every afternoon. Had my fill for the summer. Now back to business. Squeaker enjoyed her trip. She is a good little traveler. She is anpping now. Long trip for a little doggie. Hope everyone is doing well. Will check back when I get a little more rest.

LOL adi, 7 kinds of potatoes? At least you got salads with your meals.
Dak, fireworks over the ocean sound lovely. Don't sweat missing the exercise. It's a holiday weekend! lil miss, your menu looks good. Is your DH still low carbing? I like that idea of having a 10 pound range as a goal. Of course I'd be happy to just get to within 20 pounds of my goal ![]() Played tennis with DH but disn't last for long. We played at 1:00 and there was no shade so I got hot fast. But it was fun. Then I took Meg to the canal and had a mishap. I was walking with her into the restrooms and I thought she was in, but she wasn't. So the door closed on her and somehow her back foot got caught under door. She yelled like she was caught in a bear trap! Poor thing. It looks like she just scraped the side of her foot. But I took her out to the grass and went to sit down to look at it, and hurt my arm. I was trying not to put weight on my knee because it's still so sore, and did something to my upper arm. I feel battered! My menu for this week is going to be roasted broccoli with fake chicken patties with maybe a few salads thrown in. |

Gosh, Krit, DH and I played some tennis a year or two ago, I was awful! Felt like all we did was chase down balls! It IS fun though! Glad you had a good time! GOOD GRIEF poor you! Poor Meg! Are you two okay?
DH is low carbing but has announced only for a week more and then he "has" to have bread in order to feel satiated. Says he thinks for him that if he has to have bread to feel satiated or else he will just keep eating. Glad you're home adi! Dang what a schedule tho, only 3 hours of sleep? Hope you got some rest today! I am DYING to know the pups name!!!!! You guys, I did Jillian Michael's Shred dvd on Friday-it is only 27 minutes long and I am STILL sore! Zoinks! That's what happens when you haven't been strength training in a awhile I guess... Running with my friend tomorrow am... |

lil miss, Meg and I are both fine. My arm doesn't hurt at all and Meg doesn't seem to remember anything was wrong with her foot. That's so funny that your DH needs bread. Hi adi! Hope everything's okay with Chantel. I'm trying to pick out the tile for our bathroom and am leaning towards a dark cobalt blue with something - maybe white or light green. Ugh, what a tough decision! Menu today: b: fake chicken pattie with broccoli l: fake chicken pattie with tomatoes d: same as breakfast s: peanut M&Ms ![]() |

hey guys,
Thanks for the comments on the garden, it has to be the easiest garden I've ever put in, no digging, but great results. Glad to hear your arm is getting better, Kritter. Yes, those are miniature ponies next door. That's where I got the aged manure for the raised bed. Lil Miss, I hear you about the strength training! It kicks butt! Nice getting that *pumped* feeling afterwards, though. I bet that puppy missed you Adi! Well, it's late, see ya tomorrow. |

Hey all.
I am down today. Frustrated with "stuff" I guess. Mad for eating any popcorn. I dont even like popcorn! Also, little guy is sick, a fever, and so now I feel trapped like I have cabin fever. I didnt run this am bc I was up last night with him and I feel so sleep deprived...Plan to go tomorrow though, maybe I will feel better when I get back into my cardio groove? I am mad at myself too with this darn scale. I have reentered a decade I wanted to never see again and I am feeling "anxious" bc my "goal dates are appraoching FAST. Sorry to be so whiney, just needed to vent. I am busy with my three kids and now I only have 60 days to lose weight and learn a foreign language?!! DH keeps flustering me about the language thing, he is so excited and wanted my input about which set of tapes to try and he just doesnt "get" that I have NO time. I suggested I could listen while running, bc honestly I dont have enough time alone to do all of these things, yanno? Sorry again, dont mean to whine...Just one of those days I guess. Did Jillians dvd yesterday and am not as sore today so will do it again today since I didnt run. Will run some errands, make a return, get dog food, drop off religious ed. registration, etc. Boys have piano lessons this afternoon....Myabe I could get to bed early tonight?? So neighbor has introduced me to a new author, Elin HIldebrand, she wrote Barefoot, and A Summer Affair, among others. I read Summer Affair which was interesting bc I didnt "like" any of the characters but I couldnt put it down...Just thought I would pass it on... |

Lil Miss, you can only do so much, learning a language takes an amount of leisure time that a mom with kids can only dream about! I tried learning French for my trip last year, & failed miserably. I was focusing on making enough money to finance my trip & my yoga practice. I would still like to learn French, but I think more realistically, an intro class would be the way for me. From there, I could study on my own with audio classes, but, during your running!!!! You're breathing and well, running while you're running, not taking your mind out of the body and conjugating verbs!
Yoga yesterday & today, tomorrow, my weights. Off to work, have a great day! |

Hey chickies!
Dak, so what exactly do they do with those ponies? I pass a bunch of them on a beautiful farm in Buck County. They're always out grazing and I've often wondered if people just keep them as pets or have some other motives. They're so darned cute, I'd love to have some as pets. lil miss, you need to get yourself to bed early and catch up on your sleep! Don't sweat the popcorn. It's loaded with fiber and I think a lot of people in the main lobby have lost while eating it. Ask your hubby to watch the kids for a couples of hours every night so you can listen to French tapes ![]() No exercise today but I ate legal - no peanut M&Ms. |

Hey guys,
I'm not really sure the purpose of those ponies, maybe teaching their children responsibility? They don't ride them, but I have seen mom out there directing the kids on how to take care of them, feed, etc. Lawn art, I guess. Thank goodness they got rid of the goats, (sorry Adi, I know you have goats) but these are way too close to our house. Plus, I suspect you clean your stalls, Adi. Neighbors have never cleaned the horse arena. When I took horse manure for my garden, believe me, it was well aged. ![]() Very tired, going to try to go to bed early. I keep thinking about Chantel, wonder if she's going to check in again? |

Yeah, miss Chantel.
Scale moved finally. Feel icky this am. DS is better but my face hurt this morning like sinuses and now I feel a little nauseated. Taking my 2nd DS to the ortho [cha ching] for an evaluation, DS1 has already started orthodontic work earlier this summer...Then we are off to the toy store to get a bday gift for a neighbor whose party is tomorrow afternoon. Went to bed a little earlier but still didnt sleep well, going to go to bed even earlier tonight and see how I do. Also going to allow DS3 to sleep in DS2's room bc when he does he doesnt come in my room in the middle of the night and wake us up... Have a good day everyone! |

Glad to hear the scale moved, Lil Miss! Hope you're not getting sick, allergies? Early ortho is great, ds had a retainer when he was 8, although he did lose it once ($75
) it made a great difference with his teeth. Perfect time for it. Wish me luck, trying to eat on plan today. |

Hi all.
kriiter - Now stop torturing Meg. Squeaker would have howled so loud someone would have reported me for doggie abuse. Glad she is OK. Dak - Love the raised garden. Although DH planted a nice garden, everything is TOO FAR APART. I told him those giant truck tires we saw would make super raised beds. Ugly but functional. Thye show miniature horses around here. State Fair etc. I always loved to go watch some of the miniature horse show when I was showing goats. Love the little carts they pull. Looks like fun. lilmiss - Stop trying to be supermom. I finally decided I can't do everything so I have just let some things drop. Makes me happier. Sorry youngster is sick. Bad to be sick in the summer. And I have also decided that I am going to nibble on things at big get togethers. I am tired of depriving myself. Now that being said, I only gained 8 pounds so I am happy. I will sweat it off soon enough. I ate some salad at one gathering that I knew was whipped cream and apples but couldn't figure out the dark chunks until someone exclaimed, "Who brought the Snicker salad?" Now who puts snicker bars in salads. I am sorry but I had never heard of it but it was delicious I might add. Sure was LC and low calorie. NOT. DH is dricing me crazy about this estate stuff. Older brother kind of quit the last couple of months and the paperwork is not very good. DH is awful with money and check books anyway. Now he has to figure out the finances. He is overthinking everything. And of course, ding dong younger brother thinks they can sell property in another state without using a real estate agent just because the first property was bought by a neighbor. This land is 200 miles away from the first acreage and none of the neighbors are interested. Yeah. Just put an ad in the paper and wait. The real estate agent will handle the process (bid and or auction) for 4% which is cheaper than the 6% they charge here but NO younger brother is just adament. Each heir will lose $6000 to the real estate agent which is $6000 they didn't have to begin with. Strange how moeny brings out the absolute worst in some people. One niece is just like younger brother and the othere niece is like DH. Whatever is the easiest is alright with her. Sorry for the rant. Here is to a maintenance summer. I am not going to get too worried. I am eating cantaloupe, squash and watermelon and tomatoes and yogurt and strawberries regardless. I actually lost a pound already on that menu so it can't be too bad. |

lil miss, I woke up Monday like that. The right side of my head and face hurt! I took a couple of doses of decongestant and felt much better. Great idea about letting DS3 sleep with DS2. You need the sleep!
dak, man that is gross that the don't clean up the yard. I know what our neighbor's yard smelled like with one dog, I can't imagine a whole posse of ponies! I was just thinking of Chantel too! I don't know if she's posting at all. I hope all is well with her and the family. Had dentist appt this morning for a crown fitting. I still taste burnt tooth and acrylic nails - blech! |

Kritter, we thought long and hard before we agreed to rent because of those miniature horses. They certainly have brought a fly problem I never had before. Luckily, it's seasonal. We have an enclosed entryway that is shady & cool, just perfect for those flies to hang out & try & sneak in the door.
I kinda feel bad for the neighbors. I do think they weren't planning on having to sell, the structure for the ponies (in the right of the picture) was built just a few months ago. The real estate agent says that the property line goes right through that structure. They also put in an orchard, again, partly on this property line. Oh well, at least no one has asked to show the property! Adi, when we lived in the country the people that gardened before us left those big tires to plant in. I tried putting squash in there & they didn't do well at all, it was hot where we were, I think those tires just cooked the poor roots. True, money can bring out the worst in people. At least your DH's family is still talking to each other and haven't resorted to litigation. That's really sad to see. |

Dak - I hadn't thought about the black tire holding heat. You are right. It would be good for a winter garden though. Summmer not so much.
My goaties have a larger area to wander around in and they have what we call a loafing shed to lounge under. Little goat pellets are easier to deal with than horsie poop. I used to have a pony that we let stay in the yard (about an acre) since he was so good at mowing. I would take a rake out every day or so and scatter the poop for fertilizer. I sure miss that pony. He even edged the sidewalks. I have to clean the area where we feed since they will poop while they eat. Makes good fertilizer for the garden. DH is trying to avoid litigation. That is why is is trying to humor younger idiot brother. Dh's daughter is tired of South Dakota winters and wants to move back to Texas. She lived with us in East Texas and finished high school there. Not sure if her DH can get a job in that area though. |
