Here is D's farm. His small farm house is hidden behind the trees behind the silo. Eventually I will move it to a different spot on the farm. The rest of the farm is all crops.

This is my farm. My small farm house is in a 3x3 corner, surrounded by Pine Trees with a BBQ grill in front. The rest of mine is crops too.

ETA: Here is my little "cabin:

You will get hooked!

good morning
It is supposed to be HOT today. I'm going in early so I can get off early. It would be nice if they let us out early since they didn't close the office today or Monday for the holiday this year. Oh well, I still have my Monday off as usual. I'm taking the Friday of my appt with the surgeon off so I will have a 4-day weekend then

Have a great day! all around

So the only thing I can stomach right now is Carbs. Bread, Pasta, crackers, etc. Everything else makes me nauseas.

Ironically I'm still hovering in the 199-202 range. Hopefully I'll be able to get back on plan once the nausea goes away (ohpleaseohpleaseohpleasegoaway)

Funeral is Sunday. I think I'm finished with all my paperwork for the job. Now I just have to do my physical and I'll be set. I could start as early as next friday!

Diana, the yard is looking very good! We planted the strip along the top of the retaining wall where there were plants that didn't last through the heavy snows, and they're growing. Some of the plants I got are the kind that creep. We wanted them to cascade over the retaining wall.

Your farms are really cute, Bonnie and Diana! I still don't have any houses, barns, or much of anything that would take up space that I would grow crops on. My next door neighbor has a really elaborate farm with lots of "assets", and let me tell you, I can barely get that thing to load. In fact, I don't really like working for her because it's so slow. It locks my computer up more often than not, and takes all the fun out of it.

We're having two of Mike's brothers over with their families today. This place is gonna be hopping! My BIL's and I are going to go fireworks shopping up at the reservation nearby. Then of course, tomorrow is the big extravaganza.

Bonnie you must feel like you were cheated out of your holiday. I'm glad that didn't happen to us.

Terry- I agree when you get too much it loads really slow. I limit myself to what I have. If I decide to do the mansion, I'll sell what I have and that will be it. LOL I am actually rearranging the field again. I do that, like my house,, I have to rearrange it!

Had a spur of the moment trip to Springfield to visit my Brother Pat and his family. The moved a few weeks back and lives in our old childhood neighborhood now. It was weird going back and seeing it all. We also visited my other brother Jeff. Today is his B-day he was surprised to see us!
Course on the way home I got a ticket for my exceptional driving work zone, he said I was going 80 (along with 2 other cars) and I know for a fact my speedometer did not go over 75, but you cant argue with them and going to court and then a small trial would be a waste, I'll pay it and be done with it. Guy was a jerk! Anyway... no letting it get me down!

Have a great night everyone!!!

I have heard that farms can load slowly if one has too much stuff on it but I think some of it has to do with the user's computer too. I use one laptop and access both farms at the same time. I was just using one browser and had two tabs open but I find it easier to use two browsers instead just to help me keep straight which farm I am on. I use IE for the farm I'm in ownership of and Chrome for the one I'm harvesting with. I don't have problems with either of our farms locking up or moving slowly even though I have buildings, fences, hedges, trees, flowers and animals up the yang yang on both.

ETA: I hit level 30 on mine. D has a little ways to go on his. He told me tonight he wants his trees spread around the edge of the farm. Gee, D, if you have a preference play the darn thing yourself

Yes, but as I recall, you spend most of your time working offline. That always makes things go faster. But if I go to her farm in offline mode, she can't hire me because she can't see me. Her farm didn't work half bad until she started putting water features on it. That is what really made the difference. Granted, I have an older laptop, but another friend of mine has a brand new laptop and still has problems with FT hogging all the memory and locking it up.

no, I don't play it offline. I said I play it like an offline game ... in other words mostly just me against D and not against others. I sometimes hire someone to pick our crops but mostly pick our own. I am always online when I play.

I go through this too. On my Laptop it's really slow, and it's a newer Laptop and only 1 year old. I heard Firefox is better then IE for FT but I havn't tried it yet.

I am working on rearranging my farm today... then I'll plant later.

Whenever I go to the neighbor's farm with all the bells and whistles, it hogs up the memory to the point where I have to use a task manager to shut it down and start over. Sometimes it goes as slow as molasses, and sometimes it speeds up and works just fine. All I know is the more stuff on the farm, the slower it works for me on my computer, and I don't have that problem on my farm or the farms of people with less gingerbread. But I've got to say, my next door neighbor's farm is a metaphor for her real yard - too busy with "stuff". She has a beautiful waterfall, but all the nick knacks she has around take away focus from where it should really be.

Here's a story that will make you go Yesterday we were sitting out on the patio with the family members we had over here, and I was telling my SIL about a chipmunk that came up on the door stoop a few days ago while I was grilling meat. A few minutes later, I caught a glimpse of a chipmunk and called her attention to it. Then the little rascal walked over to a spot and disappeared into our crawl space! It's been living there! We found a service that relocates animals who have taken up residence where they shouldn't be, so I'll call them on Monday. I hope it's not too expensive.

Happy Birthday USA........have a great time today friends and enjoy the festivities..

I downloaded foxfire or whatever it's called last night to help with loading the loaded farms.......I often have Kate's and mine open in different browsers on my PC but ours are not very elaborate yet although Kate did by the big farmhouse today....mine is still all crops...we are going away for 8 days and so I can't plant anything that won't perish while we are gone...*stomps foot....my current crops will all mature today and I will leave the land fallow...

Just time for a quick ....we are leaving in the morning for an 8 day camping trip in Northern Ontario... ...I can't wait...I missed last year because W had a health issue...he is doing well right now and has just seen all of his doctors so I have everything set up for him...meds food etc...

We are all so excited...

Have a great couple of weeks and I'll be back on line around the 14th

I do agree, believe me! My cousin is only level 26 and man he has bought everything, and about 100 of each! LOL I can not load his farm anymore.

I don't really see FT as a game that's played against others. There's nothing competitive about it, in my mind. Everyone has something a little different, and it's fun for me to visit other farms and see what people have done with them, but I don't feel like I have to compete with anybody. I'm afraid my farm must seem boring to some people, but I don't care.

I didn't mean it in a competitive way. I meant I don't buddy up with people, which actually makes it harder because I can't sell stuff - you have to be an *Influential Farmer* ( 8 neighbors) in order to sell trees and assets. I can't even delete them.

I find different farms to visit from reading the forum - lots of links to some fabulous farms. They load fine for me but I'm not harvesting them either. I found it helped to freeze animals and turn buildings and trees off when I was harvesting for others. I don't go to the MP to look for work anymore - I have enough work on my two farms and I don't need the coins. We don't get ExP for harvesting crops so for me it isn't worth it. I do go there to hire people sometimes when I have too many crops to pick at one time. Then I can plant behind them to save some time.

Have a great time Lise!

D is up so I'm going to see what we are going to do today. My leg won't handle going to the lake - parking would be too far away. I know he wants to get some fireworks to shoot off at Dana's and then we will probably just come home, sit on the balcony and watch the fireworks in the valley. They do some pretty big ones and it is just as fun as going to the lake to see the city's big display.

Have a great 4th!

Yes, that is annoying that it won't let you delete them, but you definitely don't want to sell them. You sell at a fraction of a cost you paid. You get like 20 coins for a fence section that cost you 250.

I know but when you end up with extras because you redo your farm it is annoying too - for example when I changed to a hedge around my Farmhouse instead of the "picket fence" I had too many fence pieces and have to store them in different parts of my farm to use later when I open it up more and stop planting so many crops. I don't plan to do much water, but I might put a small lake/river around my little cabin area. Have to be able to go fishing when I vist my cabin in the woods, you know

Why not have neighbors Bonnie? I guess that is the part I don't understand. More neighbors the better. You tend to their farms when they are away, you get coins and experience points 6 exp per farm.

Your on Facebook right? You have to be in order to have FT right? Confused... sorry!

Yes, I have FB but I really only use it to play FT. FT is on mySpace now too but I haven't set it up over there and probably won't since I rarely ever go there anyway. Two farms are enough for me right now. I have issues with the lack of security on FB and MS. FB got in trouble awhile back when they changed their TOS and said even if you delete your profile, they own the pictures or whatever you posted and they didn't delete them when you deleted your account. I think they changed it back to what it was before but I haven't read the TOS lately.

Yeah they changed it back, I knew that wasn't going to last too long.

I think you should use your FB to get friends and make them neighbors it helps. You can block your account to where no ifo shows, not even all the friends. That might be something you could use.

We had a great time last night. We didn't go to the lake - my leg wouldn't have taken all that walking. Finding a parking place nearby would have been impossible too which would have added quite a bit to the walking. D bought some fireworks and instead of going to Dana's like we normally do, we did them at our place. D let the kids light them this year and they did a great job.

The lady next door had her dd, SIL and grandkidlets over and they did theirs here too - normally they go to her mom's but she is in the hospital. The neighbors across the street came out later and did a few too. There are always all kinds of fireworks in the valley around us so all in all it was pretty spectacular.

Speckles was freaking out and hiding in the little bathroom downstairs. This is the first time there have been so many fireworks this close to the house in the 13 years we have been here and he had issues with all the noise and also with not being able to be outside when all of *his little boys* were here. He is doing better today.

Have a great Sunday ... all around

Our fireworks display was a blast, literally and figuratively. We had plenty and saved some for FIL's 80th birthday party at the end of August. We didn't get into bed until after 1, so everyone slept in this morning. We did feed the cats after we got home, so they were merciful and let me sleep until 8:30.

Tuesday, a wildlife relocation service is coming to deal with a chipmunk family we have in the crawl space and to seal up the hole they're entering through. The little rascals!
