going out to run and then to work.
tomorrow will be a long day and I scheduled my PT for Wed at 8:30. Good thing I am not working till Friday. I was up at 5am but went back to bed. I think I slept a little better. I am not ready for sleeping meds yet. My mom took Ambien and when she went off she had withdrawal type effects. Speaking of my mom she is having some health issues and is having a CT of her Lungs and seeing a pulmonologist. Her right side of her heart is enlarged. |

I haven't tried to text on my Blackberry touch screen. I am not great typing on a toucn screen so need to keep it simple. I also have issues with LCF because page turning with the cursor is really hard with the touch screen.
I ran 6 miles. I dropped 2.6 pounds of fluid. Wish my weight would stay there. The scale hasn't been my friend but I feel better not eating poorly. I did hold on to alot of fluid having my chicken marinated with Yoshidas but that is gone now. Off to work. Changed all my appts for next week. Now I need to hope my MIL can hold on. |

Morning,
Had a quiet weekend with both boys out of the house. It felt weird! Our little (navy) town celebrates the 4th in a BIG way, so our festivities start Thursday and end Sunday. Our neighbors are having a party Thursday night they've invited about 200 people, should be fun! Of course, DS15 has a game same night OOT, I may have him skip it or go with someone else, its and 18U game, so he won't get much playing time anyway. Friday should be a somewhat lazy day and Saturday we have the "fun run" (yes, Debbie, its the 5k my friend and I are running) DS15 will work the finish line, followed by the parade, then of course fireworks. A colleague of DH's invited us to join them on their boat in the bay to watch fireworks, it should be fun, he said he would pick us up in his little dingy at our boat dock. There won't be any parking there, so we may have to ride our bikes or walk, but should be fun regardless. Sunday is the annual CHS water polo alumni game, where past players come in and play against next year's varsity teams. (guys and girls) It should be a busy but fun week! |

Home from work. My son ate the majority of the meal I prepared for tonight so I had steak my husband bought and made for me.The rest was left overs from yesterday.
Kelly it sounds like you will have a great weekend. Have fun at the race. Don't go fast and you can run. I have to get to bed early since I am waking up at 3:10.The plane leaves at 5:30 and it is a 45 minute ride. I guess we can park in the expensive parking since we are going for the day. So I need to get up and out by 3:45.If I take a shower it will have to be a fast one. Maybe I won't have time to get bedhead. My middle son turns 25 tomorrow. Nothing planned for him. He was supposed to be at the beach but they cancelled their trip. I didn't know this. I told him I would have planned something but he told me he works till 7 and will go out and celebrate Wednesday. Oldest turns 27 Sunday. So if I am asleep by 10 I can get 5 hours sleep and then sleep on the plane rides. MK, I will try and text you. It will be a crazy day for both of us. |

Debbie... My "oldest" turns 27 on August 22. Lolololol. I can't joke about the only one with my granddaughters, since there 2 of them!
Took Mom to get her lenses today, to get a few groceries then I did her hair cuz I'm taking her to have lunch with her 14 childhood friends from Holy Rosery School. I met them in Sept 08, I always wanted to meet them, she's done this before I was born and they go out 2 times a year. We"re going to a hungarian restaurant iin "Old North Dayton" tomorrow called Amber Rose. Its a Hungarian lady's house that they turned into a restaurant and she use to feed WWII servicemen. I went to school with her great-granddaughter, Barb Stanley (Stanley Ave is the cross section where Dayton Childrens Hospital is) but Barb passed the Halloween night after we graduated (75) in a HORRIBLE accident. I take flowers to her grave when I go to my Moms family's grave. Lisa and I had a hard time with her death cuz it broke our trio up. we had gone to the football game and went to Pizza Hut, then Lisa and I went one way, she went the opposite, and about a mile up the road an old man hit her, he'd had a heart attack and lost control and hot her. He lived but she was ejected. I ALWAYS beat it into Kims head to wear a seat belt!!! Going to go make johns lunch, he's STILL not home yet! Toodles girls. I'll report about my hungarian experience tomorrow. These are all of Amber Rose's recipes that they use. Cabbage Rolls are their specialty, I REALLY want Chicken Paprikosh (sp?) But it has a cream base and I'm sure loaded with fat!!!

Morning girls,
DS15 made it home yesterday ALOT earlier than I expected! He was exhausted, but had fun and no roomie issues. Actually, he said the dorm they stayed in were suites that shared a bathroom and the 2 sophomore (next year) boys that were in a separate suite, just pulled their mattresses into one of the other rooms and they all stayed together. The handful of younger boys got put in a suite that connected to the coaches room, so they had far less freedom. (and actually, a couple of them are not the most trustworthy boys, so I'm sure it had as much to do with that as anything else) Debbie, thanks for the encouragement, the race is early so it won't be warm yet. Hopefully, we aren't the very last people to finish! Actually, DS15's coach runs the 5k every year with one of his students that has down's syndrome. The coach is a runner and does an "easy 4 miles or so" daily, so really, the 5k is just a nice thing that he does.Marie, glad you came back! ![]() Cindy, did the ear get unplugged? Feeling better? MK, hope you are having a good road trip!Ange, how's your little cousin? Things getting better for her? Every kid needs an adult or two they can trust and it doesn't always have to be their parent! Becky, sounds like a fun day! Love chicken parikash! Okay, need to get some stuff done here! I can't believe its the last day of June already! |

Well... Got the chicken paprikash, it was good but not like my aunt Leota's. Then we left there abt 230 and went to get Gracelynn a crucifix for her bedroom from Mom and then to Barnes & Noble. Went to Doubledays for dinner, brought 1/2 of my sandwich home for John and got him a Wendy's chili.
Tired! But it was a good day, so glad she got to see her friends! Be good guys, got some reading to do while Johns still @ work. BTW... Brads Mom is going to be the other Godparent. He FINALLY asked her! |

Hey! It's July!
And my houseguests left this morning. It's been a whirlwind bunch of days full of activities, visits, sightseeing and LOTS of eating! Ended up having more than 30 people here on Sunday and everyone had a good time. Drove down to the casino on Monday with BIL and SIL. No one won anything big, but enough to keep playing for a while and it was fun. Yesterday went to the local air museum and a tour of all their old neighborhoods and some visits to other relatives. It was a busy, tiring few days but it was a nice time. BIL and SIL are the best and easiest houseguests ever, it was really nice to have them and enjoyed their visit very much. I hope they had a nice time too as we really didn't make any special effort for their stay, just let whatever happen. By last night I was very tired though, all the activity wiped me out and hoping to make today a 'downtime' day. MK is off to NY taking DD to school? Deb on her quick trip to NY too? Is Cindy's ear unplugged? Becky's eating Hungarian food? Kelly 5K is coming soon? Marie stopped in? Sheesh, trying catch up here. I truly didn't have a minute on the puter for days. Felt weird missing a standard part of my daily routine, made me 'out of sorts' like I was forgetting something all day.... I miss my friends when that happens! ![]() DH took some vacation time this week so he's sitting behind me waiting to look at his stuff too. Will BBL. |

Morning Gang!
I CAN HEAR! Holy cow! That certainly was a pain! DH came home last night, so to be nice, I am rescheduling the appts/lunch I had scheduled for today and tomorrow......He is on vacation this week due to his cycle trip, WHICH was to take longer than the four days he was gone. Said weather was so crappy they kept riding longer and further than they had anticipated and didn't do some of the fun things they thought they would do. SO - I am hoping we will work on staining our deck tomorrow - temps are supposed to be low 70's and sunny, so I think it would be perfect! Today, not sure what we are going to do.......but figure I better plan on being at his beck and call! ![]() MK made it safely to Syracuse.......sounds like they had an eventful trip with traffic delays in PA due to flooding!! Kaye - glad you had a nice visit with your company - sounds like you are pretty easy going when you have visitors.......for me, with family, it's stressful - most of the time I can't wait for them to leave! I have my BFF from Minneapolis coming in 16 days for the weekend, and that will be a fun visit!Becky - glad you had fun with your Mom and the childhood friend lunch - I bet it means alot to her that you do that with and for her! Kelly - are you training this week for your 5K this weekend? Ange - again, I think it's cool that you are there for your cousin - what a difference you will make in her life! (Oh and DD and I are making our tat appts next week! She really wants a 1/4 sleeve, but I am trying to talk her out of it, at least at this young age.....)Heading to the Y shortly! Have a great day!

Good morning!
Yes, July! Cannot believe how fast this year is going! 2 more days of work and then I am off Friday and all next week! I was going to KY next week with my husband for some family business he has out there but think I will stay home and work on my WOE and exercise...I have been so lax on it. It got a little out of control....I need this week to get back in control. It'll be good. Just me and the dogs. Randy will be home probably Wednesday. |

Mornin' Cindy! I'm sorry your DH cut his trip short, but the weather DID turn yucky for us. So weird I was in a tank top and shorts sweating my ass off just a few days ago, and now I have the sweaters and jackets back out!
Sheesh, make up your mind Mother Nature!! ![]() Apologies to my favorite grad student/boogie boarder for neglecting to mention her in my haste to post this morning! Forgive me Ange? Hi Marie! I'm with you on getting back on track with the food. The last 4 days has been nothing but party food and eating out. It was all yummy of course, but now I feel bloated and sluggish. DH and I had to go to the Dr. yesterday for our annual health care insurance check ups and my weight was up a few pounds and my blood pressure was not so good. Our insurance wants BMI, glucose and cholesterol etc. checks to determine your deductable, and in years past they just lined up an LPN to come and do the tests right at the office. Well, they decided to not do that this year and sent a letter saying 'You're on your own, call your own doctor and get it done'. I can't tell you what a pain it was for us to try to explain to our doctors what simple things we needed done for this stupid form (they were very nice about it, but were just as baffled as we were by their ridiculous requirements). The doctors office could only do height/weight and BP, and had to send us to the urgent care next door for glucose and cholesterol since neither could do both. It was stupid, annoying, embarrassing and I won't be doing it again. Will take the higher deductable and tell them to screw it. <rant over thnx> Thinking we might drive down to IN and get some 'good' fireworks for the 4th. Have been so busy getting the last week taken care of, we haven't even considered what we want to do for the 4th. What are you all doing? |

Kaye, Welcome back to shortyland! It certainly was bizarre without you here
You are forgiven, of course! Don't insurance companies annoy you? I am irritated that mine won't pay for the dietitian...I guess they would prefer to pay the hospital bill for a heart attack due to obesity ![]() Cindy, You are sweet to reschedule your stuff so you can spend time with DH. I agree that DD should wait before doing the sleeve. Does she know what she wants to get as a 1/4 sleeve? Is she aware of the price? Does she know what her career is going to be and what the ramifications of tattoos will be for that? I personally am the type of person who will not take a job if they turn their noses up at my tats or piercings, but not everyone has that opportunity in the jobs/career. Did you find what you wanted or are you having the artist design it? Marie, taking a week for yourself to get you eating and exercise under control is a GREAT idea!!! It will benefit everyone in the family ![]() On my way to the dietitian soon...bbl with news ![]() Last edited by ahamiam1; 07-01-2009 at 08:58 AM.. Reason: add a little funny |

Home from my trip a day later. Should have gotten home last night but the storms messed up the flights and we had to stay the night. Had dinner with my dad and got to see MIL some more. She looked good but is way too thin. I could tell she hated we had to leave. Her spirits otherwise were good and her sense of humor great. I hate leaving her.
We got up super early because we had another 5:30 flight. Got to airport and stupid USAir had over booked and we didn't have seats so we took the next flight and got two free tickets. My husband just left for work. I have to drive my son down there around 2:15. I have hill run tonight. Other then that I have nothing planned but maybe a nap. I don't understand the insurance requirements Kaye. I never heard of this type of plan and one that won't pay for a dietitian Ange. I guess we have a good plan but it isn't cheap. I had to go to Target and get things for over night. Bought something to wear home. Just capri black sweat pants and tee and little sweater. I freeze on planes. Hot here now though. I never saw MK but texted back and forth. She was delayed getting in and busy with daughter. Syracuse is so different then Maryland. For one thing the traffic is minor. We decided there are lots of smokers like my dad and food is cheaper in restaurants so people are huge. We went to Dominicks an Italian place and it was packed and they give you so much food and it so much cheaper then here. There are so many large people in there. It is alot older in Syracuse with many neighborhoods that have suffered since I was a kid. So many abandoned building and blocks that used to thrive. The Jewish Home my MIL is in is pretty old too but the staff there are really nice and we feel good leaving her in their care. My MIL is still pretty independent. She won't let others help much. She needs a shower and her hair washed but won't let others do for her.I have to call and get them to take her to the beauty parlor there and try to get her in the shower. Not that she is dirty. She sits in her chair or stays in her bed most of the day watching TV. Cindy glad you can hear again and yes the ear flushing is not fun. Using the stuff to loosen the wax does help though. Marie good to see you back here. I think I saw Barb pop in too. Kelly, really do have fun with your race. That is what it is all about and if it is for a cause it for that too. Off to unpack the few things we brought back in our new duffle bag we had to buy. Nothing we couldn't use. I have to take my medicine I didn't have with me and do my back exercises too. There is an article in todays New York Times about the place my husband runs and they quote him. I wonder if I can get the link on line. We bought a few papers while sitting in Laguardia. |

here is the article. I think they are a bit harsh about my husband's company that he works for but the lack of sales and the trying times is the reality my husband faces every day. They started this place when the real estate market was booming. We all know what is going on now. |

Morning girls!
Having a lazy morning, got up briefly to say good morning to DS15 before he left for practice at 5:30, then went back to bed and dozed on and off until about 7:30. ![]() Debbie, yep, the race is Saturday (its always July 4) DS15 realized last night that he had been volunteered (by me) to work the finish line and has to be there no later than 6:15, he wasn't happy. What he doesn't realize is everyone that is in town has been volunteered by their coach if they didn't volunteer theirselves, so looks much better to have your name on the list before the coach sends the email telling everyone to be there, no excuses unless they are not in town and he will check up on them. ![]() The money from the race actually goes back into the HS sports programs here, and each team gets $ per volunteer, so the more kids there, the better! I'll have to read the article about your DH, haven't gotten that far this morning. MK, safe travels home! Cindy, glad you can hear again! That had to be miserable. Enjoy the rest of your week with your DH! (and yep, the 5k is this weekend, hopefully, my friend and I have enough of a routine established that we will want to keep running together after the race, we always have a nice chat when we go and then we take her dog for our cool down, so he's always happy when we go too, after the race, we may take him with us from the beginning since he was used to running with her DH who just deployed to Afghanistan) Ange, glad your little cousin is doing okay! Can't wait to hear what the dietician has to say. Kaye, missed you! My BIL and his family are our easy guests, they will be here next week and we are looking forward to their visit! They are always such a pleasure to be around! (and no pressure from them either, only me wanting things done!) We don't really have things planned, probably will just let the kids play and spend time at the beach. We may spend one day at the nearby water park, everyone would enjoy that. Of course, DS15 has a crazy busy week next week, but I'll find rides for the OOT stuff and otherwise, he can go on his bike and it will all work out. Marie, how are the diet/exercise going so far this week? It is sometimes easier when you are on your own. Becky, so when is baby Gracie's baptism? (I assume it must be coming up or it wouldn't be pressing for Brad to have asked) |

Debbie, just read the article about your DH's company. It sounds like a great concept that got finished just as the real estate market tanked.
Talk about lousy luck. It does sound like the people living there are really happy with the development though, and that says a lot! |

I worry about my husband's job. he does a good job and the place is selling just slowly. They have many buyers who haven't closed yet but can only print the number who have actually closed. The assisted living is doing really well. The people who live there love my husband so I pray he is valued and kept by his company but one never knows.
I am off to take son to work. Just had lunch and a nap and switched the laundry but I have done nothing else. I am praying my workout isn't cancelled due to thunder storms. It is that time of year where they can happen every day. Kelly see the race is for a good cause so get out there and have a great time and don't worry about how you do just keep on moving. |
