Good Morning, everyone!

Thanks for the comments about DH's Aunt. We found out last night that it's not 6 weeks. My SIL was mistaken, it's 6 to 12 months. We are going to try to drive up Friday to see her. Boy, have I been praying these last 6 months. So much going on.

My eating was good yesterday and I did my workout. I'm going to check out WW website and try to remember my old logon name and password.

eyre22~~Your plan sounds good. You said it well, about eating healthy and in moderation. Love your new Avi.

I'll check back later.

I have been thinking that after week 2, I will modify somewhat the original program and have a B day instead of D on Wednesdays, with my little tweaks...yoghurt is OK, so is skim milk, so are nuts and almonds and a fruit instead of a starch on B days. We cannot deprive ourselves of fruits and other foods completely. The trick is to do everything with moderation and not go overboard, preferring clean, unprocessed foods and avoiding chemical foods and sweeteners.

The weather here in the Aegean has been lovely for a change. Tam, congratulations on the weight loss. It must be exciting. You are the one with the staying power.....

Hugs to everyone,

Eyre22
I agree on all counts, Eyre- I am feeling so much better since cutting out the chemicals (i.e. shakes and sweeteners) and eating only "real" foods. Maybe that has something to do with my losing again. FMS "survivors" are sensitive to chemicals and meds- could be that was messing me up. A WOE is not a one size fits all thing. We each have to see what is right for us.
Thanks for the kudos. It is exciting, and I am glad I've stayed. I wore a closed blouse today that I couldn't even wear open as a "jacket" last summer. So strange to be in a skirt and blouse again. I can breath again, and don't get those "rolls" straining at the buttons when I sit down.....
Did Pilates today, but didn't walk- it's absolutely HOT out there. We turned on the airconditioners this morning at 8:30.
Right now my computer is showing 99F, and it's 5PM and cooling off.. I can just imagine what it was at noon ....
Wedding prep is speeding up - with calls to the caterer (table colors, and fruit specifications, making sure there's enough water on the tables (Israelis prefer colas and Sprite...) etc.- last minute details, calls to the jeweler (yes, the wedding band arrived), finalizing the menu for the Mon nite dinner party hosted and paid by my mom, but organized and managed by me.... and baking for the Sabbath hosted by us, (the Sabbath after the wedding- both extended families, friends, and 8 friends of the groom)-along with every day cooking, laundry, and preping for the upcoming Sabbath (with guests) I am busy, and so happy that my WOE is just right for all this.... it gives me the energy I need all week, and allows me the "treats" I enjoy on the Sabbath.
I bought some low carb, high fiber whole wheat bread to use as Challah this Sabbath, to minimize the carb bloat- as the wedding is Sun night, and the photos are forever....

Hi everyone,

Linda, I'm lifting up a prayer for you and your family. I'm so sorry. Glad you are doing better with your eating. I know how you feel. I did one MAJOR carb up day and felt like crap the next day.

Well, I'm really going through book two carefully and I've come up with the opinion that I really like it. So, I think I'm going to follow book 2. I like the fact that in weeks 1& 2 there are 2 carb down days follwed by a D day and then 2 carb down days followed by a D day again and then B day. I do best right now with keeping my starch at breakfast so I'm OK with not have 2 starches before 3pm as in book 1. Then week 3 through 5 alternates GF (1/2 grapefruit at 1st 2 meals) with baseline days with 1 carb up day on Saturday. Weeks 6 through 8 alternates fats up carbs down, fats down carbs down, fats up carbs zero and even some cheat days. I think that this is something I can live with. When I went back to carefully read this book, I can see where Wendy has put a lot of thought into this plan. I really think that her theories are sound and the fact that she has given those who completed book 1 (not me)more options says a lot for her commitment to the program. One of the reasons that I was drawn to this program besides the fact that it is sound is that it takes out the boredom from the food plan. As I exercise a lot, I like the fact that Wendy has incorporated when and how much to exercise each day to maximize fat loss.

Tam, congratulations on your success. That encourages me to stick with it.

Lisa, speaking of grapefruits, book 2 plan has built in GF days. You might want to take a look at them if you haven't already.

Dede, you are going to love WW if you haven't been in a while. A couple of years ago I went back to WW even though I was doing lowcarb just for the accountability, support and weekly weighins and I did great. I was so impressed how WW has changed over the years. You really can do your own plan and just go for the support. The meetings were so great. They talked about real issues like emotional eating, what to do in social eating situations and there was discussion from members on each topic. I just think support is great in any form. I still have a magnet on my refrigerator from WW that says "if hunger's not the problem, food is not the answer".

hi to everyone else. I'm off today so I need to get busy doing some cleaning.

Difficult times. You've really been through alot this year. Hang in there.
It's also easier to handle the hard stuff when your eating and exercise are under control.

Glad I can help others- you've all been so great to me!!!
Alot of it is analyzing to see what works and what doesn't for us, and fine tuning it to make it a life style that fits with our lives. Fighting our schedules is doomed to failure.
I stopped calling them "tweaks" as that made me feel guilty- since I saw they work for me, I call them "adjustments".
Just goes to show- many of us found book2 just wouldn't work with our schedules and preferances- if you do, then go for it!!!!

Better go fax the menu, and get to the baking (and laundry, and more phone calls... whew....)

Hello ladies, I just have a quick question. I have the first book and have done the cycle several times. the last time I didnt lose a lb and only a couple of inches. that was in Jan and have been gaining ever since. I see Wendy has a new book. Have any of you read it? do you like it? And How different is it from the first one? I was thinking about buying it. just want to get a good opinion of it first.
TIA

The above is my feeling about Book 2. JMHO though. There's been a lot of discussion about it. You clould go back to some previous weeks and read more.

Hi and

After the first cycle of Book 1, I lost slow and continue to do so. I prefer Book 1 to Book 2. Losing inches is what CTFLC is all about. However, I have Book 2 and did make it through week 5. By that time, I knew that weeks 6 thru 8 were not going to work for me, so I went back to Book 1. The only way you will know if it will work for you, is to read it all the way through. I would defintely purchase it, it may be the plan you need to start losing again. Good Luck!

Totally off topic and thought I would share. The power of prayer is so great. My cousin's surgery went very well. There is NO cancer in the Lymph nodes, (thank you Jesus!! - this from my Aunt). Her vessels and blood flow is excellent which indicates that the reconstruction will be a success. The plastic surgeon was very pleased.

I cried tears of joy.

I would think about doing a few deplete days and then C days before re-starting. There isn't a deplete week in the Book 2. JMHO

For all those who are doing the ww with this plan. Does it work well. I have thought about it myself. I think I need the structured support group.

Book one- Book 2

I started the original book last july with great success. I really only followed to the letter 3 full weeks and the weight stayed off and seemed permanent. Over the spring break season I gained back most of it (only 10ish pounds but it was all I needed to lose at that time). So I bought her new book and did only a week of it finding it did nothing for me. The initial phase of book 1 is what did it for me - cementing the losses with the following 2 weeks. I'm on day 4 of week one and while I refuse to weigh myself, my clothes are fitting much better. I really had to be honest with myself tho. When the diet "failed" me, did I lie to myself about cheating when I felt sorry for myself? YEP.

Hey all. I've been running around crazy the last couple of days working, getting my hair done, and getting ready to go up to the Georgia mountains for 5 days.

gemlinda-I sure was sorry to hear all your sad news but after scrolling down this page,I read the good news. I'm very happy for your cousin. As for your DH's aunt,I hope that whatever time she has left, she will spend it with those who love her. When you think about it,none of us knows just how long we have left. We should all try to spend as much time as possible with our family and friends.

As for the WW combined with Wendy's way,I think it is working out okay. I just need to eat more filling foods,( with fewer points). I have found that I've been hungrier than with CTFLC. But when I first started WW the last time,I remember that feeling lasted about a week then my appetite decreased a lot.

Hope you all have a good night. See you in the morning.

Hi, Dede!
Also had my hair done yesterday- just hoping it'll look as good at the wedding.
Sorry you will miss the wedding! You really pick the right times to go on vacation. I'm going to need one when this is all over- it doesn't look like I'll be getting one for awhile....
Wise words you have for Linda.
Check what you're eating for "unnecesary" carbs- I find that when I go over a certain level, I start getting hungry- also when I don't have at least 20 gr. protein per meal (as per 3 main meals- I have less for my snack- 1/2 oz. almonds). After tracking on Sparkpeople, I have found that when I eat at about 30% each- protein, fats and carbs, I do the best- not per meal- per day. See what's best for you. I HATE getting hungry! I've been a bit hungry the past few days, and can't figure out why-could be it's the fast weight loss. I actually had a "mini" carb up yesterday- having 1 c. starch instead of 1/2 c. at lunch- it didn't really help for long, though it was nice to be full for awhile- which reminds me that carbs are not going to do it- today I'm making chicken breasts- I'll fill up on that....
DH actually suggested twice yesterday that maybe I should have some blood tests- I'm shrinking so fast. If I didn't feel so GREAT I would also worry.
DS21 keeps complimenting me- I teased him that he's "practicing" on me, as he's getting married Sunday. His bride will be dropping by today. They don't meet for a week b4 the wedding- so if he's home he'll be banished to his room. He was so cute last night- strutting his stuff in his wedding clothes. I can't believe my 6th child is getting married. He was a baby just yesterday, it seems!!
Seeya guys later- too much to do, and DS26 is arriving with his family this afternoon, and I have errands to run after they arrive... Hopefully the cleaner will show up this morning.... I live for her weekly visits, doing touch-ups in between...

Enough of me- have a great day, friends!!

Hi to all of my Cracker Pals!

Oh My!!!! It's been so long since I've been on that I needed to completely log in. WOW!!! That's not good. Sorry!

I have been so busy with cakes this week that I can barely breath. All I have thought about is cake. Today, for my Dad, I made a chocolate triple layer cake with chocolate peanut butter filling between each layer. I then frosted it in more chocolate and topped it with shaved peanut butter cups. It looked like five pounds just waiting to jump on. I didn't have any.

Tonight I started a cake for my DMIL. I made a yellow cake and tomorrow will top it with a mixture of cream cheese, cool whip and seedless red raspberry jam. Then I will layer kiwi, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries over that. The final topping is a little toasted coconut. YUM!!! I will have to try this one. It sounds and looks delish.

My challenge is for Saturday. I am making a cake for my FIL's 60th birthday party. I am tossign two cake ideas around and can't decide. One is pretty safe and the other is much more risky. Not sure how it will turn out. It's a 3D toilet that says "After turning 60, everything turns to Crap" on the lid. It then looks pretty nasty. Something my FIL would Love. He has a sick and twisted mind. The other on is just a flat cake with a picture of an old man on it and says "With ages comes skills. It's called multi-tasking, I can... Laugh, Cough, Sneeze, Fart and Pee ....All AT THE SAME TIME!" Liek I said, he is sick and twistede and would love either one but I think he would like the toilet the best. Not sure what I will go with for sure.

Okay, I am done talking cakes.

I haven't had timet o read through and check up on all of the happenings but I hope you are all doing well. I miss all of you. I am hoping soon my life will calm down a bit and then I will have a chance to get on more regularly.

Still having trouble focusing on the big price.....15 more pounds but Soon I wil be ready to start over!

Well, another late night. i am going to need to catch up on my sleep sometime. WHEN???????????

Take Care,

Penny

Tam-Thanks for the advice. I will take a closer look at my menues. Don't know how you have time to give to us when you are so busy with wedding stuff. I so wish I could be there too for the wedding! I know it will be such a joyous occasion for you and your family. Since we probably won't communicate until after the wedding let me just say now,Mazel Tov my friend!

Penny-I also wish i could be there for that chocolate peanut butter cake! One of my all time favorite combinations! There seems to be a contest for the busiest person right now,you or Tam! ha!

Okay, gotta go pack. Yep,I've waited til the last minute to do that! I'll probably be on tomorrow as we are taking a laptop. Have a great day everyone!

Okay. I did something I said I wouldn't. I weighed myself. I'm down 4.5 ish lbs since I started Sunday. Not too bad. I feel awesome. My only hurdle is that I'm on vacation starting today and we are going to visit some friends on Lake Michigan. I hate vacation for the connection it has for food and beverage!! Next week is our 20th anniversary and I hope to be a good girl then, too. Wish me luck!!!

Tam, that's funny that you say that about the bloodwork. When I lost all of my weight and was staying on track I was consistently losing and several times I thought "do I have something wrong with me that I'm losing so much weight". Uh, no, you are just staying onplan and it goes to show that if you follow the plan you'll lose. So, thanks for that reminder that you follow the plan you lose. You don't follow the plan you don't lose. Guess I needed to write that to sink in. Have fun with your family and the wedding prep.

Oh no, is that what I have to look forward to. I guess I still have one more good year before that happens. I'll be 59 in Sept.

That's great!

Me, I'm still trying to get cracking. I'm eating onplan food but find myself grazing in the evening. I know if I get a few good days under my belt that I'll be OK. Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone!

I started my online WW yesterday, eating clean and adding fruit. I am doing just C days right now and will probably do a modified carb up on Saturday, then a baseline on Sunday and back to C days. I might do a carb up once in a while during the week. I do like their new website, food and activity tracker. Although, I think I earned more points in my exercise than what I could log on! They still have my original online start date in my profile. I started trying in 2004 to get back on track. I just didn't know that my food choices were bad. I felt satisfied after each meal yesterday but went too long in between lunch and dinner and forgot to eat a snack. I'll do better today.

dede~~thank you for your kind words. Have fun in Georgia!

Tam~~sounds like there will be so much fun with the wedding.

Penny~~oh boy do those cakes sound good. I'd have a small piece of each. Shhhuusssh your mouth about turning 60. It's the new 40. At least for some of us.

Ok off to exercise, so some house stuff and sit down later to pay business bills and call on some of our delinquent accounts.

to everybody and have a great day.

Did you figure out the points you should be eating daily? My problem was I was not getting in all my foods (points) and was not losing. Make sure you get in your snacks even if you are not hungry. My leader has told me that. I eat lots of brocalli and it works with CTFLC.
Better run for now.
Have a great day,

Alberta

Dede...Safe travels. Hope you have a great time. Bet it will be cooler there than it is here at the beach.

I can totally relate. I do so well until we have a bunch of company here at the beach house. They always want to go out and eat way too much. But, like you said, that is part of being on vacation. At least this WOE helps us not over-do things.
