one meal per day

I just want to know if there is anyone on here who has tried eating one meal per day.I have been doing this for four months and have lost 35 lbs.I have been amazed at how the body adjusts and how easy it has become.I eat my meal in the evening with no restrictions except i try to stick with whole foods.

I generally eat this way too...I love it. It works for me, because snacking gets me into trouble and it is also difficult for me to stop eating when just satisfied. So having one meal, I eat until I am full and satisfied (not stuffed) and I much more conscious that the meal is nutritionally packed.

Yes, I frequently do that, also. Just have a big satisfying meal at night plus lc dessert. For some reason, I can also eat somewhat carbier that way without getting cravings. It is such a free and light feeling during the day too. Love it!

Dang, you go girl! Those are fabulous results!

As for myself, there is NOTHING, in no amount, that I could sit down and eat and have it take me 24 hours but that is just me. I eat 3 squares and sometimes add a snack.

1 meal @ dinnertime....

but... I do start my day with a protein shake ...so if that's a 'meal', I guess I have 2 meals a day.

It's much easier for me to stay on track, not go overboard on calories with this routine. I drink a *ton* of water, iced tea, some diet soda but not every day.. to keep me from getting hungry till dinner

I eat coconut oil mixed with protein powder for lunch, then eat a small dinner. The more I eat, and the more often I eat, the MORE I MUST EAT! I guess I am compulsive when it comes to eating, so the less I *start* eating, the less struggle I have. Once I break my routine, then it is game on!

I am not sure I could do this but I find it interesting that most of you doing this are well, skinny. Hmmm.

Tell me please, were any of you hungry a lot (like a normal hunger coming and going throughout the day) and this way of eating got you over that? I am just not sure I could handle this due to my voracious hunger. Even in ketosis I feel the need to eat.

I did this for about a year and lost a ton of weight. It was a lifestyle thing that just evolved for me. There was a really excellent seafood buffet restaurant near my place of work - I had an hour lunch break - and my best friend would meet me there nearly every day and we'll eat til we were ready to pop.

That one meal would last me 24 hours. I got down to about 135 lbs, the lowest adult weight for me since the birth of my daughter in 1981. I've never seen that number on the scale since!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who eats this way. I just don't eat when I'm not hungry, and I'm rarely hungry more than once a day, in the evening.

I think we are all different and need to listen to our bodies. That said,
in the beginning I had habit hunger...ie it is noon time for lunch. Now, I am never starving. Hungry sometimes. As an emotional eater I often delay eating to see if I really am hungry or is it emotional hunger. I do eat if I feel like I will binge later if I don't eat feed the hunger.

Remember hunger signals build and are just a warning to eat soon...it doesn't mean you must eat right now. Trust me any slight pang of hunger I would misconstrued as "starving"...but now I would rather wait and have a hearty meal at the end of a day. For some reason, food just tastes better eating this way...I am satisfied, and that means in the long run I am not obsessed with eating/food...and food obsession was my biggest dietary hurdle.

I was a bit hungry and hollow feeling at first. I drank water whenever that hit. Soon, I realized that I was never really *hungry* anymore, unlike when I was eating more. I am hypothyroid (had most of it removed) so I feel ill when I try to do zero carb. If I eat too many carbs, then it ups my cravings. I have finally seem to hit on a formula that works for me. I have lost 26 lbs. in the past year, the majority of it in the past few months when I slowly started eating this way. By the way, I do usually eat a bit more, and off plan at least one day of the weekend. I am still managing to lose!

WOE: Atkins - it's a diet
I eat twice a day and it is perfect for my body. I eat the same amount of calories I would if I had many meals (1400) and am never hungry and don't have to constantly worry about eating. I am amazed that people have the time to do 6-7 small meals, I would quit after a day. I drink a lot of water throughout the day as well. I eat before I leave the house in the morning and at night when I come back. I find that eating the bigger meals means that I am satisfied and less tempted to eat crap if other people are eating around me, plus don't have to worry as much about finding acceptable things to eat. I don't believe the old wives' tales about having to constantly eat to stoke the metabolism - bologna!

When I tried the 4-6 mini-meals a day, I was always starving. It seemed the more often I fed my body the more it wanted. Now I'm totally satisfied with grabing a bite once or twice a day. What' really funny is this is how I ate when I was 19-20 and the skinniest I'd ever been.
