Welcome, gk! How did everyone's day go today? I feel awesome tonight. I went to the gym and did 2 miles on the treadmill and 1.5 on the elliptical. I have to ease into working out, so nothing too crazy, but I got my heart rate up and worked up a sweat. DH and I had free range ground beef with some raw cheddar and sour cream for dinner, and it was awesome. I feel really energetic and good so far...now I just have to stay on track.

We raise all our own meat (beef, pork, chicken and fish),we have a garden and we've planted a small orchard (which isn't really producing anything yet). I know that isn't an option for everyone but it sure saves us a ton of money and we know exactly what we are getting. We have toyed with the idea of getting a milk cow but we've have been tied down like that before and it makes life really hard. Other than that, I don't really buy much organic. I do however make pretty much everything from scratch which I find more reasonable than buying convenience foods. We have a large family, so we cut corners anywhere we can... but I won't sacrifice nutrition for convenience.

That probably wasn't much help....

Good for you!!

I haven't been able to exercise at all since I re-started. With out knowing what happened, I dislocated my knee and hobbled around like that in horrible pain for 3 weeks. One night I was laying down and my 2 yr old stepped on it and popped it back in, it was the weirdest thing! It's finally feeling good enough to start exercising again but I'm very nervous about hurting it. I normally do Turbo jam but I'm thinking I may ease my way back into exercise by just walking on the treadmill.

Hi all. day 12 here... still going strong... but stuck at 7 lbs down... hanging in there waiting for scale to move again...

I really wish we could afford to eat organic.. we just can't right now.. I try to keep it as natural as I can..

I will be house/dog sitting for my sister for a few days.. not sure if i'll have a computer to use or not.. so if you don't see me... that's why..

I hope everyone is doing well and sticking to plan!

Hi Everyone!

Well, I went out to breakfast this morning and all was good until I ate that piece of rye toast with my omlette. I love rye bread. Oh well.. not the worst thing in the world and I will just be careful the rest of the day.

I am down 3 lbs since Saturday so still moving in the right direction.

I have a gym membership but getting there is generally a challenge since I am a single mom and so the only time I can really get there is at lunch when she is at her sitter's during the week when I am working. I need to move my dvd player into the living room so I have more room and I can pull out my kickboxing dvd's and do those at night after little one is in bed when I can't get to the gym. Does anyone have any favorite workout dvd's to recommend?

Does anyone else ride their bike with a bike trailer? I ride pulling my 3 year old and usually our little dog as well and it is a good workout.

Does your gym have childcare?

If not and you can't normally make it there, you should probably just ditch it.

Or is it possible to make it priority number one to get there during your lunch hour? For you?

Hi Luna,

I think there should be a warning label on me and your post reminded me of something that happened. A few years ago, pre-child when I was going to the gym all the time there was a "Get Fit Belly Dancing" class. I thought, I love to dance why not give it a go? Bad idea. I have found I need high impact music and a relatively intense workout or my mind starts to wander and I start not paying attention. In that class, I literally lost my balance and fell over and took out two other girls because I totally zoned out because it felt like it moved really slow to me. I think I have excercise ADD. I felt so bad, I apologized profusely to the girls and I vowed to have learned my lesson once and for all. I have fallen off of treadmills as well... never when running. It is always been if I am just walking and have zoned out and am not paying attention to where the edges are. So embarassing.

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Beth, that is awesome that you raise so much of your own food. That is the best way to do it! I live in south Florida, and there's not a whole lot of farming down here, which limits my choices for locally grown anything. I get my produce through an organic co-op, but none of it is local.

Anyway...I'm having a crummy day which started out with DH and I fighting. The kids have been tough today too. Foodwise I'm doing well. I've had coffee, lots of water, maybe 2 1/2 hardboiled eggs, some smoked Alaskan salmon with capers, dill, and a little sour cream. I very rarely eat smoked salmon but I went shopping last night and threw it in the cart. I'd love to go to the gym this evening, but my husband is working so I'm stuck by myself with the kids and no one to watch them. I'm going to try to do some kind of physical activity today...I've been working at the computer all day and need to de-stress.

This reminds me of the time I used to take a step aerobics class and fell off the step. The instructor stopped the class to see if I was ok. I don't think I ever did step again! I also have the problem with nearly falling off the treadmill because I space out.

How was everyone's day today? I was so stressed out and I knew I would feel better if I exercised, so I ended up going to the gym (we are members of the YMCA) and just putting the kids in the free childcare there. I don't know why I've never utilized it before. I did the elliptical for 30 minutes and the kids had a great time in childcare. The kids requested that I leave them there for the maximum 2 hours next time, but I told them that Mommy couldn't handle a 2 hour work out at this point.

I have not weighed myself since restarting, but I was at the doctor last week and have a starting weight (fully clothed and full of water in the afternoon). I think I'm going to try to give it a while before I get back on a scale and then hopefully I'll see a good loss. I already feel the carb bloat is gone, so that's a good sign. I'm continuing to keep my carbs really low (mostly coming from coffee and 1/2 and 1/2) for now and I'm happy with that. I hope everyone had a great day!

I have got to get in here every day and read even if I don't post, ive slacked. Ok I finally got my callanetics DVD in the mail today.. Me and my mom did the warm up... easy lookin is very diseaving?sp... anyways Im doing good on induction I found this site accidentaly its called sparkpeople.com Its awesome its like a healthy myspace. Its kind of like fitday.com but way better. Ok so today I did 15 min of callanetics and me and the baby and 3 year old went on a 30 min walk. I have to ease into this excersize stuff. I really want to join a gym and the only one I love in my town has no child care cause its at a church but there isn't very many people who go there but i love the equitment... so I may just join and take the baby with me in the stroller thats how empty it is. Ok so here is what I ate today. I am on induction

B: 3scrambled eggs, 3slices of bacon 2 c coffee
L: 2c iceberg lettuce, 1/2 stick celery, fried bacon pieces for bits, 2 tbls ranch
S: Hamburger patties, 1tbls mayo & mustard, 1/2 c cottage cheese

Ive had 8 cups of water with jalapeno cheese sticks that are 0 carb
ttl 20 carbs.

Ill be very excited when school starts cause ill just have the baby during the day so I think I can manage my excersize better. But Im not too worried the last time I was on lowcarb I lost 50lbs in 7 months with absolutly no excersize other than house work and just normal stuff. So I expect I will loose even quicker lets hope so.

Well I hope everyone has a good night and by the way I did not cheat yesterday on my b-day or today on our anniversary and I will not cheat tomorrow on my dh b-day. woohoo

Where is everyone today? Lori, way to go on the exercise and not cheating! I have the hardest time staying on plan for special occasions.

I used to do Callanetics with my mom when I was a kid. I have the old video now, but I remember how hard it was so I haven't pulled it out yet. I think I'm going to start doing Body Flex again. I did it regularly last time I was successful at losing weight and I really think it helped.

So far today I've had coffee with 1/2 & 1/2 (my vice, I'm not giving it up), a hardboiled egg, and some green tea. I'm feeling pretty good today. My husband hugged me and asked if I'd lost weight...he said he could tell. Yay! I'm really motivated right now and I need to stay that way. I REALLY want to reach my goal. I have a whole wardrobe of clothes that are 6's and 8's that I would love to wear again.

Hi all! How's it going today? I'm doing pretty well with my food. I just cooked up some ground beef with garlic, cumin, chili powder, onion powder, sea salt, and pepper, melted some raw cheddar into it and had a dollop of sour cream on it for lunch. It was SO good. I probably had more of it than I should have. I'm feeling pretty full now, but I'm not busting at the seams full, just satisfied. My hunger has really subsided, but since all I had for breakfast was one hardboiled egg, I was actually feeling hunger. I'm not going to have time to go to the gym tonight because I have a photo session at the beach (I'm a photographer), but I will go tomorrow night. I hope everyone is doing great today!

I got brave and made an avatar

Good afternoon Soon 2B Slim Moms,

Well I finally figured out how to do an Avatar, this is me and my kiddos on ST Thomas last year...there is another photo from this day that I will probably make by before shot of me standing in my bathing suit...I look like a sausage!

I need to lose some weight first so the story will have a happy ending lol..Wouldn't it be great to be in a bikini!

Anyways doing good today, had a zuchinni jack fritata for lunch today not sure about dinner though....fixed the kids Brinner (breakfast for dinner) since hubby is not home so they get quick and easy....

Luna I went to the health food store yesterday and found coconut oil and milk but not coconut cream....is this something I have to order? Provided our Mother Earth isn't very big...wish we had a whole foods or something bigger!

Did see almond flour and unsweetened coconut so that is useful for future reference. I also found out everything is %10 off on tuesdays...not a huge discount but helps!

Hope everyone is doing well

Scale said 177.4 today YEAH!!!!!

Hi all, this is my first chance to get online today (11:45 pm) I am really struggling and under a huge amount of stress right now at home..I've hardly eaten anything in the last two days. I won't get into it now because I'm exhausted and I could literally write a book, but if you believe in prayer, please remember my family.

Thanks,
Beth ~
