Very Low Carb 100 day challenge
What: 100 day challenge for the brothahs and sistahs following along with the VLC (Very Low Carb) thread in "other weight loss plans".
Who: Members of the VLC (Very Low Carb) thread only, please! It would otherwise be too confusing. Purpose: To see how 100 days of sustained effort positively affects members, both in health and weight loss when following a very low carb plan. We're not interested in seeing who loses the most, but it would be fantastic to see what 100 days of clean eating produces. 1. Each week, members will weigh in with losses. Whether you gain or lose does not matter. People will experience stalls. It happens. You will be tracking your own stats, so please keep track. 2. No need to keep track of menus here, if you are already using the main VLC thread. 3. Please, if you can, list both your loss for the week and overall weight for the 100 days as such: ex: cleochatra: 3.5 pounds lost/ 35 pounds total for the challenge Weight lost prior to the challenge will not matter for this coming 100 days. This challenge will last 100 days, or from today, May 12, 2009, until August 19, 2009. 4. Please, for the sake of your health and success, stick to your low-carb plan, unless you find it is not working for you and you decide to try a different way of eating! Your way of eating won't work if you don't pledge the commitment to yourself Oath: I willingly take upon myself the challenge to eat cleanly and to keep a positive spirit for the next 100 days. I will ask for support when needed, will give support when garnered, and will not, no matter what, eat off-plan, knowing that even though I might post online, my weight and my health are very real. I refuse to start over. I refuse to succumb to stress, to emotion, to boredom, or to cravings, knowing that these are only temporary. The success of these 100 days, however, will change me forever. I will do this!

Today is the first day, so technically, unless you lose weight by tonight, I wouldn't start keeping track until tomorrow, minimally. It might also be easier to work with one weigh in per week... but, that said, I say what keeps you motivated is what you should do!
Hey, mycattaz! Thanks for making the committment! |

Honestly Jamie it feels so good to be doing it... I know I will have to take it one day at a time, ok, maybe one meal at a time...
but just to have my mind made up that I am going to do it, feels so good... |

It feels great! I am so with you.
Some days it truly is one meal at a time. Some days it's an hour at a time. But ding dangit! Come the next day when you're feeling great again, you are so proud of yourself because YOU did it! |

I've on posted a couple of times on the VLC thread and I'm already 31 days into ZC/VLC (mostly ZC but the occasionally sauteed mushroom seems to sneak onto my steak plus I do dairy), but I'll join. I'm already down 11.6 pounds in the first 31 days but will use today's weight as my starting point:
Starting: 188.0 pounds I'm a 5'11" male, so don't expect huge numbers. ![]() |

I am in. scale says 221.
what exactly are the rules? normally I stick to meat/cheese/eggs, and maybe some veggies or sauce as garnish. I have many partied this summer and not sure what I will be able to eat under "VLC". I would normally do some meat and veggies, but I guess veggies are out? Last edited by sandyn; 05-12-2009 at 11:00 AM.. |

I'm the lurker, out to join this thread.
I've been at this weight too long, for some reason I'm stalled. I hope it breaks soon. A few days ago I was at 151, then Monday at 153, Today, Tuesday, May 12, 152.5. I've been having a problem with hunger. Not cravings, just hunger. Am upping the fat, hope it helps. Starting weight: 152.5 0 pounds lost/ 0 pounds total for the challenge Ella5 Tuesday, May 12, 152.5. |

I lost 45 lbs. 2 years ago and have been maintaining for the most part; recently I have been struggling again and need some incentive to stay away from grains especially (allergies). I have worked so hard to keep the weight off and usually don't struggle with cravings. This challenge is just what I need!
Weight today: 145 |

Would you consider asking people to post their actual weight -- not just pounds lost -- as well? I find this really useful in accessing a plan -- it's helpful to see how both people far from goal and closer to goal fare on the same plan. |
