You're awesome!!!

I'm still hovering in the 194ish range... with my not weighing and my starting the carb creep this weekend.... I'm in ketosis this morning but it's light and light ketosis doesn't usually keep me from having cravings. I need one day of like, running a few miles and lifting weights and I'll get into deeper ketosis and quit this cyclical cr&p!!!!

I have this dumb dilemma.... Saturday June 20th (LESS THAN 2 weeks) I'm going to a concert festival thing... and I know my high school is going to be there and probably half of all my exboyfriends and I am TERRIFIED of going. Months ago I got serious about this and started working out thinking I'd be able to lose 20-30 pounds but now it's 12 days away and I get butterflies in my stomach at the thought of running into people. What do I do? Seriously. I am panicking and it's making me crazy.

i feel your pain, dear. My reunion is in August...and I used to be really really skinny in HS. But, at least it'll make me feel better to see some of my classmates who are fat for no reason but beer (no kids!). haha. What's their excuse?

Could use some support

Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new to this board. I'm 28 y/o and I've been struggling to stay on track with low carb for about 2 years now. At first, I was really successful. I even maintained at 110lbs (im only 5'2)! But that was a while ago...and it seems so much more difficult now.

I'm starting induction again today to lose about 25lbs. I'm hoping this will be the last time. Things have been difficult at work, and my mom has become ill. I'm an emotional eater, so I'm getting things back on track and hoping to be successful this time around. I want to feel comfortable in a bikini by August. It has been a while since I have felt really good about my appearance.

I'm excited to talk with everyone and meet some new friends with the same goals as me!

Iris

seeing ex boyfriends is one of the most terrible experiences in my mind. i mean, it's never really bad at all in real life but mentally i psyche myself out and make a HUGE deal out of it. it's particularly bad for a few and it's prevented me from going to certain parties/concerts/whatever. it's something i really need to get over. i'm considering transferring colleges for the fall and my biggest problem is that one of my exes (that i would prefer to never see or speak to again) goes there.

btw, it's cool to ramble about random stuff in here, right? guhhh i'm tired. 'night.

Hey all

Everyone is doing really well

Down 2lb today which I am pleased, although I have noticed over the last 2 weeks the weight loss has slowed down.

I have a few ideas why this may be
-Body catching up
-eating too many nuts & Atkins Bars
-Not drinking enough water, not eating enough veggies and not exercising enough!

At the moment I am just trying to stay on plan and not fall off, I have my final exams at the end of next week, which are proving quite stressful. I will address all the issues once my exams are over.

How is everyone else getting on?

samantha - thanks! and omg i would be so nerve-wracked about the festival... i say just be confident in yourself, you are fabulous at any weight! screw anyone who cares.

kate - haha you are soo right... unfortunately i was one of those without an excuse... darn college life with all the beer and pizza

alice - do what's best for you... and your ex will eat his heart out once you are on your way with lc!

chris - exams! aah! i hear you on that... but i also miss them so much. i'm a school-holic. i just love it. the bars always give me trouble, but they are great when you don't have time (like at the end of a semester).

i was too sore to do my exercise yesterday, so i'm off to the y directly after work today. todays program has me running for 5 minutes straight... twice! exciting and frightening, lol.

Iris, I’m sorry to hear about your mom. I’m excited to see your progress
Chris,
I’m doing finals right now, too. I took the day off work to get them done. And where am I? On LCF..haha. Actually, I’ve gotten three papers done today. Just taking a mini-break to check in and see how people are doin!
Little3cordme: You can DEFINITELY do 5 minutes. I just know it!!
As for me, I’m down a total of 20.2lbs since May 25th. Gawd, maybe I can lose 30 lbs for my first month? That’d be sswweet. Ya know what would be even sweeter though? Goal. Uuggh. Haha. I anticipate I will have goal by Turkey Day. But then again….it will be the holidays. Gaaah!! That’s what always gets me…Halloween…turkey day..xmas…new years….super bowl….valentines….

Wow Kate - you are doing really awesome. Keep up the good work.

Well, I checked the scale and I am down two pounds. It seems like I am not losing unless I do Stillmans or super, super restrict my carbs (which is basically Stillmans I guess) I go from Stillmans to atkins induction and dont notice much of a gain but its when I start trying to add back in more carbs and get off the induction phase and into phase two that I start gaining again - anyone have any suggestions? I need some help@

Thanks!
Jessica

Can you post menus? This may help me to understand better what's slowing you down. I do think there are some people who do *best* with VLC or with Stillman's.... I for one do not do well with a lot of things others get away with (cheese, diet soda, nuts, fruits, etc).

No Problem!

Thanks for your help -

I keep a food journal so here is from past 3 days let me know if you need more:

Sunday: B - scrambled eggs with 3 pieces of turkey bacon
L - chicken breast with small ceasar salad
Snack - deviled eggs
D - 2 big pieces of halibut with some yellow squash

I drink either water or iced tea

Monday: B - 3 sausages and a hard boiled egg
snack - can of tuna fish
lunch - large taco salad with salsa, guac, and some sour cream
snack - iced coffee from starbucks with heavy cream
dinner - homemade salmon cakes with a recipe off linda sue's site

Tuesday (back to stillmans because not losing) - plain scrambled eggs
L - mahi mahi fish
snack - hard boiled egg
D - turkey
snack - sugar free jello

I got on the scale this morning and am down 3 lbs from yesterday. I am happy about that but worried that I am not going to KEEP it off. Time to ride the bike to work. Love that excercise.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!!

paperthin your foods look good to me, and by your height/weight in your siggy i see that you are already in "normal" weight range according to the bmi chart. i would guess that weight loss will be very slow for you.

how long do you up your carbs for before seeing the weight increase and stopping? maybe you need to let your body adjust to the higher carb amount, you may see an increase at first... followed by continued loss. also make sure to only increase carbs by 5 gms per week. the first week should just be another 5 of veggies, is that what you tried?

Jessica-- I think your menu looks pretty good, too! If you are really stalling I'd recommend eliminating things like diet jello, dairy... but I think that'd be last resort? How are you doing now?

I worked out today!! It's sad how excited I get by that. I haven't worked out in probably a month. Last month I had a 2-week streak of getting up early and was feeling great.... Yeah, that went bye-bye REAL fast. So I ran 2.5 miles and did squats and I feel good. Going to make myself eggs for breakfast.

I've been torn lately between trying to eliminate certain foods that I really enjoy... namely nuts, cheest, 85% Lindt, protein shakes (EAS kind with splenda vs my home ones with Stevia), dairy based dressings like ranch, the Zevia diet soda with 11g erythritol, butter... Sometimes I think these things KEEP me lowcarbing and other times I think maybe they do the opposite. I feel like the lindt doesn't hamper me at all.... what do you guys think?

Where is everyone?

OH on Sunday I'm going out for my sister's birthday.. and we're getting Mexican. HUGE WEAKNESS. I tortilla chips like none other... and modelo especial beer....

Oh maaan, me too...Mexican food is my major weakness. Hang in there, you can do it! Just keep telling yourself it isn't worth it. "It's not worth the way I will feel tomorrow, and how guilty I will be. I will be so proud of myself if I stay on plan!"

WOE: the foods i love!! :P
Start Date: Feb 2009
Hello everyone,

I'm back after not being here for a while

I was on vacation for 2 weeks. I ate lots of food and stayed on plan in both Costa Rica and back at my parents house. I came back weighing 162 on Sunday morning, but today I'm back to my pre-vacation weight of 159. I would LOVE to be able to hit 155 by the end of June, and then I can set a new short term goal for the month of July.

Good job to everyone for trying their best at keeping at it. It's tough during the summer because people tend to have more gatherings and especially with all the graduation parties going on now, crappy food is available in an abundance. I'll be traveling all weekend and attending 2 grad parties but I'm ready to enjoy the environment and the people and not let the crappy food rule me or ruin my good time

samantha - working out is always an accomplishment! you go girl!! hahaha typing that made me laugh. how did the mexican dinner go?

nik - new lows are the best, congrats!

lalala - welcome back! that vacation sounds lovely, my roommate took a trip to costa rica and i'm now convinced that i must go. have fun at the parties!

alice - you're back, and it's a new day! those 3 pounds will come off fast.

as for me, i'm finally back to my siggy weight as of this morning... it's been a bouncy week. last week was a larger loss for me though, so i'll be very happy to maintain it... now to survive the weekend unscathed... weekends are hard, so i hope everyone has an on plan and relaxing one!

You're funny! I'm actually going to Mexico tonight, too. UGHHHH Two nights! But, I'm not going to eat chips! For the first time ever, I'm not even planning on eating them (normally I plan on it!) I'm so over this. I'm sick of catching glimpses of myself in windows or mirrors and thinking "OMG, THAT is what I look like from the side?!" I think I've been in denial or something!

Hey guys, I'm checking in as life has been nuts and I haven't been on here in a bit... but I'm still here, on plan, and will hopefully hit the 50 pounds down mark this weekend.

Good for you guys for staying on track!

I leave again in a week so sorry my posts are sporadic but hopefully things will calm down here soon.

Have a great weekend.

Hello ladies! My name is Christi (in case u couldn't tell from my creative user name). I'd love to join your group of fellow 20 somethings. I just turned 24 and almost turned size 15. I have been doing LC for 3 weeks now, and hope i can really stick to this. I haven't been really successful with any diet for any sustainable period of time. I have always thought of myself as having weight problems, but looking back I'd love to be the old "fat" me lol. It wasn't until the beginning of 2007 that i really understood what a weight struggle was. My bf/1st love passed away and i put on 50 pounds in less than a yr. I didn't even see it happening until the damage was done. At first i was one of those depressed ppl who couldn't bear to eat. A week later, that ended and so did any respect I had for my body. Well it's been over 2 years and my heart has healed (but not my waistline) and after a couple hellacious yrs I've managed to fall in love again. After a great deal of reluctance and pushing, I finally managed to let someone in. Now, I live with my beautiful bulldog and bf of a year and don't want my finally stable and comfortable lifestyle to allow me to be comfortable with my weight. Relationship weight sucks. I love the support this website offers and is a great resource for other ideas and recipes as well. It is inspiring to find younger people too who share some similar struggles. I have been trying to consume under 30 net carbs per day and exercise with either jillian michael's shred or couch to 5k about 5x week. Well that's my life story. 142 to 192 in under a year... let's see how long it takes to reverse it all.

Christi, I'm really sorry to hear about your first love. I am glad you've been able to find love again and have joined our group. Isn't it funny how back then one thinks they're heavy, but then when weight is gained...you thought you were really skinny back then!
Believe it or not, I thought I was HUGE back in my modeling days. I almost didn't go to my boyfriend's junior prom because my dress was a little snug because I was bloated from raggin'. Someday, i'll be that thin again!

Hi all....
I've been gone a while but I'm back now...I'm not quite sure what the damage is yet from falling off plan this weekend, I'll weigh tomorrow! I just go so frustrated at being stalled for so long....sigh. But now I'm ready to recommit. Hope everyone is having a good day!

kate- it is strange, but i think i'll always have a dilluted version of my own self image. now that i'm this big, i still don't see the extent of it in the mirror. In pics i can tell wow i got a lot bigger, but then when i was thin and looked in the mirror i always thought i was fat. I just want to be healthy and comfortable, which hopefully will be somewhere around my goal weight. Maybe this time around if i get to the 150's, i'll actually appreciate it. Weight issues are on my mind at all times it seems, and i just don't want it to be debilitating in every aspect of my life (like u mentioned almost missing out on a big dance in HS). Funny you mentioned that cuz i just remembered an 8th grade semi formal dance where i refused to take my jacket off the whole time (just a windbreaker jacket) cuz i was so concerned that i looked fat and it clung to my belly. I think i was a size 7 then and probably average in size. Anywho, thanks for the welcome. Also, was it you that i saw is in college for corporate finance? That's what i majored in, that and personal financial services. (I'm trying to prepare for the CFP exam next month...scary)

So you guys weigh in once a week? My goal for this week is 182 and this morning i was 185. What type of program are you all doing?

I actually weigh every morning...it's an obsession. When I did atkins before I would weigh several times throughout the day.
I'm majoring in corporate finance. I actually used to be a Financial Advisor, so I've got my Series 7, 66, life, health and variable licenses. Good luck on your CFP exam!!! You'll do great!!! Definitely let us know how you do!!!
