Hello ladies.

Cindy, it sounds like you've got plenty on your plate for sure. Hang in there dear friend... it's gotta get better someday. Remember you're in my prayers.

Rene... Guess I misunderstood your post... thought you had a couple of days off. Maybe that was a couple of days ago... time goes so fast, it's hard to keep up when you're as old as me.

Eager to hear from the rest of you girls too... don't let us get too behind on what's going on with you.

Here's today's menu... hit the Golden Corral today... holding my breath.

Breakfast- 3 eggs and 3 strips of bacon (dh cooked )
Late Lunch- Golden Corral all u can eat buffet. Let's just say I got my monies worth. I did stick with only a small salad and MEAT. You just never know what's lurking in their meat though and I'm scared.
Evening Snack- 1/4 c. peanut butter. Not sure what's up with the peanut butter craving, but I'm not buying anymore until I get over it. That's the plan anyway.

Have a great day!

YOUR"RE NOT OLD!!!! Not to me anyway..... And cuite-pie couldn't care less, right?
Good plan on the PB - get it gone and keep it that way. I keep a bit around for the kids, but I've switched to the all natural stuff - only peanuts and salt. WILL NOT buy the stuff with sugar and/or high fructose corn syrup ever again! And - they don't eat as much this way..... But I also have to keep sunbutter around - all the schools are peanut/tree nut free around here. It's made with sunflower seeds, and that is what DS7 takes to school on a regular basis. BUT - it has sugar in it.....

Had fun with my brother yesterday, found some curtain possibilities for the bedroom. Then a quick housecleaning, and burgers grilled for dinner with MIL & FIL. All the kids managed to show up, although some of them left early....young men on a party mission...... And of course that meant also that DS7 and DD got to bed late.

So today I've managed to get 6 lbs of bacon cooked and bagged and in the fridge, and in about an hour gonna go help MIL pack. I'd rather be going back to bed.....

Catch you all later!

Yes, she does! But, you know, I never really worry about Cindy handling everything. She is one special lady who is truly a super mom! I don't know how you do it, Cindy!

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Oh goodness, Lucki, you are just now starting to feel better? You really had some nasty stuff, huh? Glad you are on the mend!

Had fun in chat last night.

Yesterday's menu:
B: coffee with almond breeze
L: chicken wings, cauliflower dipped in ranch
D: leftover steak, shrimp, BIG salad with ranch

Sounds good, huh? Nope, I dipped the shrimp in coctail sauce and it has 15 carbs for 1/4 cup. Don't know why I did that. I wanted it, and just said what the heck. Also, my salad at dinner was way, way to big. Checked my ketones this a.m., and sure enough, nothing. Gonna do better today!

Good Morning ladies... it is morning isn't it? I hate when the time changes. Oh well, at least I got an extra hr of sleep.

Did great yesterday, and am getting so close to seeing 30's instead of 40's I can almost taste it. Another couple of not slipping up and I may get over the hump.

I can feel for you Rene. Pretty sure I let too many carbs jump in my mouth via a little sauce etc.. It can add up. I'm confident that one meal with a few extra carbs won't side track your progress though. You are so good at getting right back on track. Beth was doing great on a plan that allowed more carbs at one meal per day. After doing this plan now for months, it seems like the times when I have eaten a little higher carbs at a meal it hasn't really done much damage. Bet you're back in ketosis in no time at all. Wish my sticks would turn often enough to be able to measure if I'm in ketosis on a daily basis. Seems they only like to turn occassionally.. sure is fun when they do though.

How did trick or treating go Cindy? Are you tempted by the candy at all? Sometimes I have some Russell Stovers sugar free candy, so I am able to stay away from the real stuff fairly easily. Don't really understand the whole sugar alcohol thing, but it's supposed to be lc, so I allow myself.

Lucki, so glad you're feeling better. My son and dil both had the flu last week and it was some nasty stuff. Not H1N1, so thankful for that. Sure hope little Taylor doesn't get it. After feeling so badly, it should be a law that you get to lose a few lbs!

Hope everyone has a great day. Talk to you later!

Happy November!

Lucki, I'm glad you are feeling better.

Are ya'll thinking about Thanksgiving now? We have plans to take the RV to the west side of MI to my cousins for the weekend - maybe. Sis1 and I want to do our marathon cookie baking that weekend - so I'll have to negotiate with DH on the schedule.

Candy hunting went very well for DS, he was a little bummed since big sis and big bro were not here, they were at a church youth retreat. And we bribed him with some new toys to give up most all of it - he agreed to keep only 14 pieces, which means he can have one a day for two weeks. Older siblings have been extended the same deal. DS16 agreed - the girl hasn't decided yet!

I'm looking forward to Monday - my bells class is not meeting and I only have one errand to run! YAY! But even so - the errand is taking sis2 to a Dr's appt - and that will take all afternoon. Cuz we all know how not speedy Dr's offices are - and sis2 is slower than molasses in Jan on top of it.

So at this point the week is shaping to be not quite as busy as last week - and the kids have no school Tuesday - but we must go vote on a millage for the schools. I'm wanting to grind up my dried meat Monday morning and get pemmican made Tuesday. I've been rendering the fat from the store and just got a huge glass jar to keep it in. Now to find space in the kitchen to put and keep the jar.....Good thing it doesn't need to be in the fridge....

So glad to chat with you guys earlier - somebody make another date!

Hello All!

Cindy, glad to hear candy hunting went well and you were able to bribe away the candy. (most of it anyway) I think it was a good idea to let them have a few pieces so they don't feel deprived. Sounds like you have a busy day ahead and I know that eventhough you think this week isn't going to be as busy, somehow they always end up being busy anyway.

Well... I cooked last night and it showed on the scales this morning. I made lc enchillada's and only had two. Then I made stuffed jalepeno's and ate most of them because they were so hot no one else would eat more than a couple. Lightweights. So it's back to trying to do a little portion control today. Might be a good day to do a creamcheese day. Been reading about too much protein and I'm wondering if that couldn't be a problem for me. I'm going to try to up the fat and watch the protein a bit... we'll see what happens.

Have a great day ladies!

Sounds like everyone dodged the Halloween candy.

I'm holding my own, but don't feel like I'm doing as well with my eating the last few days.

Yesterdays Menu:

B: coffee with almond breeze
L: salad with ranch, (too big) 2 boiled eggs, Carbmaster yogurt
D: Chilli (no beans), cheese on top

I know that both you Teri, and you Rene, can do what you need to do - I think about you everyday and hope you are staying on track.

Well, she officially decided to take the deal on the candy - and DH is even contemplating having just a few pieces - or maybe even none! He knows what my choice would be, but he also knows that I will not make or force a decision on him. he has till Tues. night to decide, cuz it's going away Wed. morning.

My mom is all in a tizzy - she's getting new windows Tuesday. She is glad she finally is getting it done, but this sort of thing always gets her flustered. But my brother will be over for the day while they are being installed, and I will most probably pop in.

Been grinding my meat today - in between running around! LOL So, tomorrow is looking on track for getting the pemmican put together!

Question - do you want to see the food I eat on a daily basis? I haven't posted it cuz I wasn't sure if y'all wanted to know.....but I will if you do.

Later!

Personally, I'd LOVE to know Cindy! I thoroughly enjoy seeing what Rene is having, I would love to be inspired by you also!
I've had a pretty great day, although I'm chewing the heck out of some SF gum at the moment to keep from doing some things that are bad for me. Thank the good Lord that sweets aren't my weekness... got to work to find a half filled bowl of halloween candy sitting there, along with a sack full of mom's homemade popcorn balls... and you haven't lived until you've had some of those... AND some cupcakes in the fridge. It's like walking into a mine field! Good news is, bil says he's going to start lc soon. He's italian... we'll see how that works out for him.
Today's menu:
Breakfast: Atkins shake
Lunch: 2 chicken on a stick and cream cheese (I usually eat 4 chicken on a stick)
Supper: Two slices of pork loin, 1 egg and a handful of pecan halves
Not bad for me.

Question for Moms

Good Morning!

Well, I had a good day yesterday. You know the coat drive I'm working on? Well, Target donated 2 coats! I went in there to buy some coats with some cash donations, and asked to speak to the manager. He actually discounted the coats I was buying enough to allow us to buy 2 more coats. Nice! Total I got 5 girls, and 6 boys.

Ok, moms, I'm a little concerned about the girls coats. They are all pink and exactly alike, and we already had 3 of them in the donation boxes at work, so that is a total of 8 coats just alike. These coats were on sale at Target and very cute, but only one color choice. I'm hoping that little girls in the same class don't end up with the same coat. At that age, will it matter to them? These little ones live in a difficult situation already, and I would hate for donated coats to be a source of embarssment for them. Would girls K-2, pick up on the fact that the "pink puff coats" are the free coats given to them by the teachers, and would girls that age make fun of that?

Not too bad yesterday, but nothing to brag about:
B: coffee with almond breeze
L: big salad with ranch, carbmaster yogurt
D: grilled pork chop, another salad (medium)

I also enjoy reading other people's menus, but hey, Cindy, we all know what you are eating. For me, posting what I eat helps keep me accountable, but there have been times when I just didn't want to share, so whatever works for you! Good job on the candy negotiations!

Yikes, Teri, all that evil carb filled food right under your nose! You are doing so awesome in resisting.

Hey Stacie, did you get started yesterday?

Lucki, hope all is well with you and you are feeling 100%!

Good Morning Everyone!

Eventhough I don't have girls, here's my take on the coat situation. First of all, it will depend on the girls. Around here I've noticed they can be totally different from class to class, or even grade to grade. My SIL is a teacher and has noticed the same thing. My youngest ds was in a class that all the kids were the best of friends, no matter what social class you came from. But I've seen others, when I would substitute teach, where the little urchins would get up and move if the wrong kid sat at their lunch table. Rips your heart out to see behaviour like that. Anyway... they'll either think it's the coolest thing ever that they might have a coat exactly like their BFF or, some kid will use it as an excuse to make fun of them. There's really no way of knowing what will happen with kids, about the time you think you have them figured out... boom, they show ya, that you know NOTHING about them. The ones that get the coats will be grateful, while the ones that don't will be jealous. You're doing a great thing Rene, please don't worry about it, sometimes you've just got to hope God takes care of that kind of stuff.

Waiting for your menu Cindy. Your mom will love her new windows. Put some in a couple of years ago and they are great. The crew that came to put them in was awesome. They were quiet, clean clean clean and very good. They were done in no time and cleaned up so well you couldn't tell they'd ever been there. Hope your mom gets a crew like that!

Hope your back to 100% Lucki. Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Well ladies, one scale said 139.8 this morning, but the other left me on 240.. so I'm about to go over the edge.. but no cheering yet.

Have a great day all!

35 minutes from Mountain Home??? What town???
A small drop in the bucket town called Salem LOL I much prefer mountain home but my DH decided he wanted the simple life ! Even Mountain home is simple life to me in comparison where I lived in FL.

Well getting back on the wagon is not as easy as I anticipated. I lost a lot of weight and had so much disapline but I just dont seem to have the will power I had before, even though the desire is their.

My DH is out of town this week and in addition to my regular job, I have to take care of all our animals while he is gone errr Bottle Feeding 6 calves is not a easy task with everything else !! Convience is knocking on my door and I have to learn just keep it shut!

This morning Im drinking coffee with cream and I think I'm taking tuna to work. I have to keep it very simple to get in ketosis quick because anything good will just keep my cravings coming. I'm a good cook but all good food does is make me want to eat more lol so Keeping it simple this week and hope the rest of the week is better then monday was.

Still not on the scale, I'm scared !

You can do it Stacie! I would encourage you to get on the scale AND take some before pics. I told dh that the ONE thing I really wanted to do before starting atkins again was take before pics. That was 75lbs ago and I haven't taken one yet. I really regret that. I see all these before and after success stories, and when I get there, I'll have no before, during or after pic to post. Oh well. Hope you learn to enjoy the country life... I know I miss it in the worst way. I've even snuck a bottle calf into my back yard before. Good thing my neighbors are understanding.
Good luck!

6 bottle calves! We've never had more than one at a time when we've had a calf orphaned. It is work! Are these dairy calves?

As far as the scales, well I understand about being scared.

Good Morning! Sorry it's been a little bit of time, but my 'puter is deciding to have 'issues'...LOL We need to have our 'puter-pro friend come over and play with it.....

Stacie, I know it can be hard climbing back on the wagon - but we are all here to help and grab your hands! And WOW - 6 bottle babies? That's gotta be keeping you incredibly busy! Good luck!

Lucki - come on....time for an update! LOL

Way to go on the salads Rene - I know that keeping those portions can be hard - you have strung a couple days together, now add another one. I am going to suggest that you try this - eat your meat portion first, and take your time with the salad after, then your tummy can signal your brain that it's full.

Teri - WTG 0n ignoring the candy! I am proud of you. I expect that you are proud of you too.

Well, GF has 'moved' again! My friend that she was staying with had had ENOUGH and told her to find someplace else. So I spent Mon. night calming my friend after yet more arguing, and GF spent the night at my house. Tues night I took GF back to pack her stuff, and she had called another someone to come and get her, and apparently she is gonna be staying at his apt......in another little town about 15 miles from here. I am NOT COMPLAINING about the distance.......

OK, food yesterday-
8 pieces of bacon about 11am
3/4 lb burger at 7pm

See you all later!

Yup dairy calves. They are a handful LOL Plus I have several goats due to give birth soon, I'm in over my head LOL My DH is loving it !

I took lots of before/ afters when I lost weight before, you can see them on my link but Im so dissapointed that I have gained some weight back, I dont want to even to have to go their again. I just have to take it for what it is and start again. Yesterday I did real well, packed my lunch ect and then they brought out the halloween candy basket. 3 mini paydays later, I felt like crap and it didn't even taste that good.

I have a stronger resolve tonight , last nights indulge was definately not worth it so hopefully I 'll have better news tomorrow.

Good morning! Lucki - I hope you are doing OK - I miss hearing from you!

Stacie - you pics are wonderful - very inspiring.

So, the pemmican is made and will be sent out today! Hope you enjoy it.....my family does not care for it so if you don't like it I won't feel bad. You can always give it to doggies/kitties - they will love it! It is pretty bland, but you can add more seasoning or even a bit of steak sauce as you eat it.

It is made of beef eye of round, dried and then ground. Beef tallow, sea salt, garlic and onion powder. I made this batch (by weight) 60% lean and 40% tallow. I usually make it 50/50. Each little 'beefcake' (LOL) is 1 ounce. Most times I eat two for lunch, but there are times I will eat 4. You can eat them as is, add more flavor, or if you have some beef broth, you can crumble one or two into it and have a soup.

They do not need to be in the fridge, it keeps very well just wrapped up on the counter.

Well - I was hungry yesterday - here goes:
whole 16 oz porterhouse steak for breakfast
7 pieces of bacon and 1 sausage patty for lunch
12 oz porterhouse steak for dinner
black decaf tea

I'm pretty sure the bacon had sugar in it - it was from a restaurant - oh well!

Y'all have a great day!

Here I am! Sorry I've been awol... just busy busy busy. Did ya send me some pemmican Cindy?? I know ya did... can't wait to get it! We have a hog at the butcher shop and I called to tell them how we wanted it cut up yesterday. The guy asked if I wanted the neck bones and fat and I said I sure do! Can't wait to put them to good use. DH asked what I was going to do with them and I told him neck bones would be soup and I am going to learn how to make pemmican with the fat.
Have any of you been keeping up with the fat/vs lean, calorie counting vs. no counting, etc? Sure seems like there's no gray area to many when it comes to opinions on here. I say to each his own. I hate to even say this, but I've barely lost any weight for 3 months. This week I've made an honest effort to up my fat intake. I even put a typical days food into ****** to see where I was in the calorie dept. The first day I added cream cheese to my menu, I had a loss the next morning. I didn't fat fast... just added it to my regular food. I also found out I probably eat at least 2,200 calories a day. WOW It actually was kind of fun to do some tracking again, so I'm going to make an effort to keep up with it for awhile and see where it takes me.
Cindy... Thanks so much for posting your menu. It's hard for me to read post after post about eating 4 oz of lean meat and then feel a bit guilty when I sit down and scarf down a 12 oz rib eye. (Like I did tonight) But seeing you eat lots of meat gives me hope that I'm not a bad person.. just a carnivour!
Hope you all are doing a good job on your plans.

Breakfast: Atkins shake
Lunch: 4 oz cream cheese and 6 oz chicken
Supper: 12 oz rib eye, house salad w/ranch, serving of greenbeans

DEB!!! YOU CAME BACK!!! YAY!!!! I'm gonna get after YOU with my skillets if you stay away so long again! LOL LOL

Seriously - it sounds like you are trying hard to stay on plan - don't let the holidays get to you! Or the hubby -

Rene---don't MAKE ME COME DOWN THERE!!!

Teri - you know it - I got some pemmican in the mail to you and Rene Friday. I hope you enjoy it, I have it once or twice a week when I know I will be particularly busy or pressed for time. Plus even a little goes a LONG way for a meal. Some times I'll eat only 2 oz. of it, but other times I'll eat 4 oz. along with what ever else I brought.

Being a carnivore is a GOOD thing - I never figure out fat vs. lean or count calories, I just eat when I'm hungry and eat till I'm full. I do keep a log in ******, but I put it in the journal where it doesn't track any of that. And I only use it to know what makes my weight bounce up - like I know it will tomorrow - cuz I'm drinking wine tonight! LOL

So, spent all day at the in-laws house doing a final clean up. Was there from 9 to 5:30 dusting, vacuuming, boxing all the last leftovers that were there. We have decided to have a "pantry free for all' and have the whole family over to pick and choose, and then the rest will go to the thrift stores. And there is still some work left to be done, but it's getting there!

Food for yesterday:
Bacon and sausage, tea
2 oz pemmican
three burgers

See you all later!

Hi Everyone!

Ok, Cindy, get your skillets out! I've been away the last 3 days at a conference for work and I did not stay on plan! I'd rather not go into details....just take my word for it, it was not good! I'm back on plan today and I'll be extra good this week---promise!

I'm just catching up on the posts the last several days. Good to see ya, Deb!
