Thank you. It reminds me of the Pogo cartoon that said "we have met the enemy, and he is us". Well, I have met the enemy, and she is me! That carb craving monster in me will never die. It may lull me into a false sense of security, but it will always lurk just under the surface waiting for me to give it a chance. It hasn't been easy to go through this process, but I've learned a lot about myself. I do know that I am a carb addict, specifically sugar, and will be for the rest of my life.

It's no different than addiction to any other substance. You must never let your guard down and you must never assume you've got it beaten. Last night I watched a couple of programs about morbidly obese people's stories. Richard Simmons was one of the people making comments. He said something to the effect that he worries about people who talk about weight loss as if it's a battle they've "won". We never win. We have to fight it every day of our lives.

MomToEli, yes, let's lock arms!

Menu for today:

B: Cream cheese muffins
S: Pecans
L: Caesar salad (sans croutons) w/ grilled chicken
D: (will be) Filet mignon and green beans
S: Egg custard

You have it nailed, Terry. It's just like any other addiction.

Your menu looks great. Are you doing Atkins induction or what? Cuz, as much as I love pecans, they aren't on Atkins induction I'm having to leave them off the cheesecake I'm making tomorrow - and that is killing me

I stayed on plan today and did ok with water. I haven't started exercising yet unless you count parking further from the door at the store.

I would really like to set a goal of 10 lbs. for the month but feel if I say it and don't make it I will be setting myself up for disappointment. I know with just starting induction I will loose a few pounds quickly. But I am worried because I turned forty this year and they say how much harder it is to lose the weight as you get older.

DH and I are both suffering from the induction "flu". I'm really hoping we can both stick this out. We had tried starting to LC in August after DH had to have two heart stents. But he wasn't really into it even when I showed him my bloodwork from three years ago where everything was perfect and I had been on Atkins for over 9 months. Then we got hit by Hurricane Gustav and that really put losing weight out of our minds. By the time we were ready to start again the holidays were here. In the meantime, DH talked to his cardiologist and it turns out he not only approves of LC diets, he knew Dr. Atkins when he was in New York. So we agreed Jan. 1 would be the day.

B: 2 eggs, 1 sausage patty, coffee w/ 2 splenda, 1/2&/12
S: turkey slice
L: turkey, boiled egg, cucumber slices, ranch dressing
D: spinach & taco meat salad with salsa

I have always done Protein Power because it is so simple. 30/10 formula: no more than 30 grams of carbs in one day, no more than 10 grams in one meal or snack. The premise is that it takes more than 10 grams to trigger an insulin release, so your target is to stay under 10 per meal.

WTG getting back on plan! I had the "flu" yesterday....stick with it and you will be amazed! I had a trip to the Dr in October afterpretty strict Atkins for 4 months then....my trig were 48!!! and my cholesterol ratio was amazing...I think I made the doc think twice about what being on LC means to your health! She was just in awe that A diet could do that in 4 months! I wish you the best in the next coming days, as I am getting back as well. Post often...it really helps!

Hey gang!

Glad to see everyone posting and all excited about the new challenge. I met with Mr. Trainer from Hell today-OY I'm sore! This may sound weird to you not so big gals, but there's one exercise where the bar comes down on both sides of my legs, and it used to rub against my thighs, and now it just barely brushes by them! In a week or two there should be some space between the bars and my legs! whoot whoot!

Menu for today:
B chocolate eggs, coffee w/cream
L rotisserie chicken and turnip casserole
D skillet pizza

Have a good nite peeps!

I was so sick of spending a fortune on baby food all week...and now that she eats 3 meals a day...lol...enpugh said. I buy frozen fruit, let it thaw, and blend it up until it is smooth. You might have to add a little water to make it thin for her first foods- I also got a ton of apples to use and I peel them, cook them, and throw them in. sugar free canned pears and peaches work nice this time of year. Fresh bananas with a little water... I puree veggies the same way. The frozen ones make the food nice and bright. I steam them in the magic bullet in the microwave, drain the water, and puree. I have done green beans, sweet potato, carrots, peas, and mixed. I puree meat too...leftover chicken, ham, ground beef..I pureed pasta with ground beef and marinara the other day....she loved it. I usually mix meat and veggies...

I know at first your DD will only be doing the veggies and fruit, but it is so worth it. I add her morning cereal to the fruit too. I only make enough for maybe 2 days in the fridge....I dont have a big freezer so I am not freezing anything. I love that thing so much...I hope i dont wear it out...lol

Just posting my food for today ...

Breakfast: Early Rise Breakfast casserole
Lunch: Steak Fajitas
Dinner: Chicken w/gravy, 2 Oopsie rolls (w/gravy!), green beans, salad w/tomato and cucumber w/lime dressing

3- 16 oz bottles of water so far and I always drink one when I go to bed. But I feel really thirsty. I know that is part of ketosis, but I don't remember it being so pronounced before.

Nite, ladies!

I've always been super thirsty in ketosis. It really helps you get your water in when you're drinking it because you want it, not because you're supposed to.
