Another fire in Anaheim Hills and Yorba Linda now. So many homes lost.
This is reminding me of when there were fires burning in the San Bernardino Mountains, the north L.A. County area, and San Diego County. Not good times.

for California and Tina in particular.....

Thinking of Stormy and her DB.....

Wet and rainy today...did some shopping and napping......dinner was cottage roll and mashed cauliflower....yum yumm...

Niki...I don't mind Wy gaming so much...he's home and clean so I can't complain....we had a bad spot when he joined some kind of WOW team with commited play times...more than once he stayed up all night playing on school nights...that phase passed so ...could be why he still needs one credit.......

Time to motivate Kate to do her bedtime stuff......

I'm not a big SB fan either....in my WW days and with the odd Chapters gift card in hand I would have the odd latte but I don't do them anymore and I'm not fond of their coffee....I'm a Second Cup gal through and through....

Have a great night friends....

.....the kids are IM'ing me from downstairs.....

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for all the prayers and well-wishes! I did not mean to duck out on you, but after my brother was admitted to the Emergency room, my dad called to say they had him in the Intensive Care Unit. Once I heard that, I dropped everything and went back to New Orleans.

When I got there, he had one of those masks that forces air into you lungs on his face because he was struggling to breath. He was in a lot of pain from the catheter and was really miserable. They said that he seemed to have a case of Pneumonia and that if his breathing got any worse, he would have to be heavily sedated and they would install a breathing tube. They told us that he seemed like he would be good for the night, but just an hour later, we got a call that he went into further distress with his breathing and they had to sedate him and put the tube in to help him breath.

I have to say, he looked much more relaxed once he was sedated. He's been that way for several days now. He has a pretty bad case of Sepsis, but they don't really know the initial cause. His liver disease complicates his chances of recovery. So far, all of his other organs seem to be holding up despite the Sepsis. I'm ready to accept whatever happens now. I know he is not the type that will be happy spending the rest of his life going to doctors, so if he is not able to fight his way through this, that's OK, too. Even though he is in a deep sleep, if you say his name or pray for him, he is able to peek out of his eyes to show that he is listening.

I had to come home for a day or two, but I'll be headed back to New Orleans soon. I'll keep you posted on his situation. There are so many sad stories on the ICU floor that it is hard to feel sorry for my brother. At least he seems rested and at peace right now.

I started reading through your posts, but I stopped at the beginning of the Biggest Loser spoilers. I Tivo'ed it and have not had a chance to watch yet. My WOE is suffering some because grabbing snacks between ICU visiting hours is tough to plan. That's my excuse for now, anyway! I'm not doing too bad and I'll be back on track once things settle down. Congratulations to all who lost or maintained this week and good thoughts to those struggling to stay on track.

Thanks again for the prayers. My mother and his ex-wife are there with him and they said no change today. I wonder if people who are in an induced state of sleep remember any of the things that they hear. Maybe Susan knows since she works as a nurse?? Anyone have any experience with anything like this?

I know he can hear people because he sometimes opens his eyes if someone says something that grabs his attention. It seems like the type of thing that one might experience if the nurse is trying to wake them up in recovery. You know, like "Mrs. Smith, it's time to wake up". You hear it and remember it, but you just can't hold your eyes open. I sort of hope he can't remember most of it because the doctors talk so much about his condition that I'm worried that he might be afraid or overwhelmed about the road that is ahead of him. I know his chances of coming through this are not great, but I hope that he is as calm and peaceful as he looks.

Sorry about the rambling on. I just appreciate the wealth of information available on this board. Such a great mix of people and experiences on here.

Yes, with pretty much the same bunch of people as National Lampoon Family Vacation (except the kids are different actors). It is a hoot! It is a tradition to watch it at our house every Christmas. Poor Clark Griswold has everything that can go wrong, go wrong!

Good Sunday Morning...............

The rains have stoped but left some cold windy air and at least a 'bazillion' leaves on the ground. Definitely more than Autumn but not yet Winter. I think we'll have a fire today

My sincere go out to Stormy, her brother and their family.

Sarah gets the 'WOOT WOOT'

Hoping Terry is feeling better today (forgive me for not asking yesterday )

And everyone gets around of

Does anyone know if Lori is okay?

Going to pour some coffee and relax just a little this morning then we'll get ready to have the family come up late this afternoon for football, early dinner & of course all in front of a fire (Unless of course someone wants to sit at the table and not watch football (probably me mom & Robbie).

OMG so did we!!!! My brother is like Clark Griswald! He is going for a record of 30,000 LED lights this year on his house and in his yard, NOT including what he will do for the inside! He is OBSESSED with this time of year! It takes him 3 weeks to get them all up and running on timmers. He actually has written down how and where all the lights go! His neighborhood has a contest every year and they always win. This year his neighbor accross the alley is competing with him so he is putting more up! They even put lights around the pool, the fence you name it!

It’s begining to look a lot like Christmas!!
So Yesterday while Vegging out at the TV, I got this wild hair up my ass and had Ken pull all the Christmas stuff out of the Attic... Yep... We went to work!

I ran to Meijer for LED lights and found the most beautifulist tree (yes fake!) It was $119, with 25% off! It looked better then some of the trees that were $400! The lady to helped me get it said the same thing. So we grabbed that, and 8 sets of LED white lights. I also grabbed LED stars for the walkway, (they are blue and white) a Wreath hook with Bells and then I got the hell out of there since we are broke already! Came home, we switched the garage lights to the Swirly energy effiecient lights (red and Green) put 3 sets of Mini LED lights on the tree, 4 sets on the mini christmas trees, 2 sets on the bigger bushes, and around the door. I decided I did not like the Snowflake LED lights and will take those back today. We came inside, set up the new tree with 4 sets of LED lights and decorated it, OMG, I love the clearity of the lights they almost give off a blue hue which on the new tree on the different branches makes it look like snow is on it!

I still need to put the candles in the windows, and get the roof lights! I need about 9 more sets of LED multi colors, 2 inside extention cords and 1 outside extention cord.

I was explaning the LED lights to a friend of ours that works for Conway Trucking and he was blown away by how many sets you can hook up together of these, and the Watts one set uses, less then a night light, only 1 Watt!!!! They are so much more bright, and the color is so beautiful! Of course Casey had to watch national Lampoons Christmas Vacation while we worked on it all, my absolutley favorite movie of all time! I'll get pictures tonight of everything so far. I don't know if I will pick up the LED lights for the roof today, even if I did I doubt Ken wants to climb the ladder and put them up with it only being about 36º out today. I'd do it but I am a shorty, and our ladder is too short so that wont work! LOL

I love StarBucks... It's a once in awhile treat! Tall, SF carmel TRIPLE (I love it strong)Breve (1/2 & 1/2) That way there is more expresso and less 1/2 & 1/2. Never ever effects my WL. We just got a DD and I will have to try them too, but it will have to be next week maybe...

You can string over 200 sets together and it will DO NOTHING to your electric bill! They are awesome lights! Very economically friendly! It costs more to have a regular light on, we use those swirly bulbs in our house, they last longer and use less electricity. Our Electric bill is almost no existant even with the Hot Tub!

Go Bears!

Sarah

Stormy....I was always taught that people who are comatose or unconscious can potentially hear so it's good to talk to them like they are awake. I'm sure Susan can chime in on this one too. Sending you good thoughts and keeping you and your family in my :aprayers:

Diana....I think you need to take tons of pics for us I LOVE Christmas lights Blue is my absolute fav!

Howdy Bonnie and Jenn

The day did not start out well Dave's sugar was really low and for the first time in 19 years I had to call 911. So the paramedics came, started an IV and he is good now. We didn't have him transported to the ER. There's nothing they can do there that we can't do here....today is the big fish tank day so we need to be ready The funny part was that his side of the room was a mess and now he is mortified because the firefighters and paramedics saw it OMH...the day can only go up from here though!

Off and running...have a fabby day everyone!
