In terms of the cheese stick...I am sure its a great idea...I just love cheese so much that if I get a pack of cheese sticks they will be gone in less than an hour b/c i have nothing else to snack on....

I am making another an egg white omelet...I am only on Day 4 and I cant bear to see anymore omelets...does anyone have any other suggestions for breakfast??

Also, one of my biggest diet blunders is weighing myself every single day...and if with all the fluctuations...I get discouraged...So I have been waiting to weigh myself after Week 1 is done...which has proved to be more a challenge than the actual diet...haha...I stored my scale in my closet to hide the temptation...but all I want to do is weigh myself and see any results...I know its crazy...any suggestions on when the best times to weigh yourself??? Thanks!

11/8-- 182lbs
11/6---????????
You can have a whole egg in the omelet (some of us have had 2, beyond W1 you're supposed to count the fat in that second egg, but not everyone does)
1 minute muffins are a great breakfast, legal on any day!!!! I have one every day, and so does my son (11) (weighs about 55 lbs, but loves them anyways!), and we never tire of them.
Best time to weigh yourself is first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking, and after using the bathroom. Any other time , you will weigh more.
Best day is Wed morning, which is as far as possible from carbing up...
Take it easy on cheese sticks, especially full fat ones.... they are officially fats....

Good morning ladies!

We went to the docs yesterday, DD has a sinus and bladder infection and I have a sinus and ear infection. uughh.... We slept most of the afternoon away. I did take her to school today, but have a feeling they'll be calling me to pick her up. Which is fine, I wouldn't mind another sick day.

And to top it off our hot water heater took a dump. It was replaced last december and I called yesterday and it's covered under warranty with whirlpool, but I'll need to call them to figure out what to do about it. Cold baths/showers when you aren't feeling well is not fun.

I'll try to catch up with reading...

Morning all!

Well, this weekend, I was able to wear a shirt I haven't worn in a year (usually busting at the boobies, to be blunt) - and it fit -with a little extra space around the waist!! And of course my bras are taking on a saggy-baggy look. LOL

One of the girls in our youth group told me that I'm looking like a MILF. Of course I yelled at her (but it was good to hear! lol)

I was able to stay on plan, even though we were in Philly, which was a relief. I'd prayed for help in being healthy and soberminded, and the Lord allowed me to have basically no options except what was healthy (everything else was gluten or dairy out the wazoo).

I'm not weighing myself for the official 'reveal' until after each cycle.
My first cycle I lost 3 pounds. We'll see what next week brings (we'll be staying in VA this weekend - we leave Thurs. Morning, so I'm going to have a lot of prep to do!). So y'all keep me in your prayers.

Jupiter, I'm dairy and gluten intolerant, and most soy doesn't agree with me - so I LURVE the Pea Protein Isolate powder. I use the vanilla. It's Wendy Safe and sweetened with Stevia.

Can I have all of my carbs in one sitting (say, a slice and a half of Ezekial Bread for lunch)?

I am not used to measuring protein (on Schwarzbein you can eat as much as you like per meal, within reason of course). So...do you have to count the protein during all 8 weeks or is that only for the first week?

Does anyone know how many actual calories we are eating on week one?

Can someone recommend their favorite Crack approved protein powder?

If I am missing a thread somewhere that has all this information, please direct me. I am still getting used to using boards so I am not sure how to find stuff and why there is a new thread every week.

Thanks!

How do I tweak this to get results, I need some results it is too hard to stay motivated.
I am following the plan. I have not gone down in pant size. I did measure myself at the begining at Curves but havent remeasured as of yet.
I am realistic I know a 1 - 2 lbs loss weekly is the best for lasting weight loss.
But that is not happening.
I am still on the plan but feelilng discouraged.

Nina!

You're net loss has been 6 pounds. That's a NET LOSS of TWO pounds a week. It IS happening!!!!

Remember something I said earlier:

Your body will add water at first to 'fill in' the spots where the fat came off (anyone have the link to that post??) - you'll lose it later. Keep working the program.

And let me repeat - if you are honestly working the program, then that 3 pound gain must be water.

WATER WATER WATER

(Say it with me....) AND WATER FLUSHES!

Your body uses water to cushion the impact of all the toxins, hormones, and waste products released into your blood stream by the fat loss. DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED!

We're here for you

Ok all you wonderful ladies, I read your posts everyday, but this board moves too fast for me!! I do have a question though, I hope someone will answer. Next week I start week 7, maintenance week. Then week 8, should be the week of Thanksgiving, another manitenance week. I know there is a cheat day in a maintenace week, but with Thanksgiving being on a Thusrday, I will not get 5 baseline days in a row. I saw a post where Jerri posted how we should work our days on a holiday week. I have it written down in my notes upstairs. Should I follow that plan, or do the maintenance week, and just not worry that there are not 5 baseline days in a row??

Thank You!!
Lori

Squash is a veggie on baseline and carb-up day- as per Jerri.
I stab a whole one afew times with a sharp knife , and zap it in the microwave- we love it sliced. Had it for lunch today with salmon. (Do it on a plate- it leaks!)[/QUOTE]

I love butternut squash.. i quarter it, take out seeds, peel it and bake it with Splenda brown sugar and butter. I think we have about 100 left from garden. But giving lots away also. Keeping them to baseline days and carb up.

Do maintenance.

The only diff I see is the fruit, too.

This is a big question, and I will have to decide by the end of the week.
I am open to ideas and suggestions!!

Second question- I am confused- what exactly is the difference between a high carb and a carb-up day? I read the chapters again and again and just can't figure it out!!! The only difference I see is the fruit at brkfst on high carb day

The seeds are wonderful roasted. They would make a great addition to a salad. if Jerri is still on, where do the roasted seeds fall in all this? A fat? Would they be a MUF?

I love the butternut squash cooked until I can eat the peel. It is so good that way. Everyone here was asking, "How did you make this?"

So, if I understood you correctly, even though it took me 11 weeks to finish 6 weeks of "clean" eating, I should still do 2 maintenance weeks?
Can I switch around my High carb and cheat days, to make Friday my high carb day? I have a Sabbath meal Friday night at which I have to have 1 slice of challah bread, or does the cheat day have to be first?
Also, do I HAVE to cheat? The way I eat happily is more carb-up than cheat....

YES you can switch your days around to suit you. Just shift everything by one day. I've done this. It's not like Saturday is a magic day where carb up works and Friday is a magic day where you'll gain a million pounds.

It's the rotation of the days that count, not the actual days of the week themselves.

I have never tried the peel?? I love squash it is a staple for me usually in the fall. I have cooked up quite a few put them in individual servings in freezer bags to have all winter. It's only my daughter and I that eat it at our house.

I am hungry now for homemade soup with beef, barley, carrots, tomatoes and rutabaga.

Good morning, Kelly and Kellie. Kelly, it is tough when your little ones are sick and then even worse when you are sick with them!

Morning Linda. Conratulations on your inches lost! That's awesome! I wish I had measured, but I didn't, so I'm going to start when I get back home. I'm going to measure and then see where I go from there!

I feel like my belly has gone down again this morning. In fact, it felt like I woke up to a shift during the night last night. One thing I know for sure, when I lay on my side, my belly doesn't hang halfway over the bed! (I know not a pretty picture)!

Jupiter - Wendy wants you to get UNDER 20 carbs. Not 20+ carbs.

You really don't want to be adding carbs here, if you an help avoid it.

So I just ate 3 oz. turkey rolled with some cheese slices (was there a limit on the cheese?), but there were no carbs in this meal. Could I have added something to this meal to get a couple of carbs?

Yum! I love rutabagas. That would be a great dish for a carb up day. You'll have to make that and share it with us. Tomorrow is our carb up day and we'll be in class all day, so I'm not sure what I'm going to make, but when I get home at midnight tonight, I'm going to cook up some brown rice to have with a dish for tomorrow night. I'll let you know what it is. I love brown rice with peas and Nama Shoyu sauce with a little filet mignon on the side, but we'll see what we do. I also love brown rice with just some Bragg's Aminos sprinkled on it. Oh my, I'm getting hungry now. I think it is almost time for my midmorning shake.

I have made Ken's Almond milk too and I also buy the unsweetened Almond Breeze. Ken likes either one, but he prefers when I soak the almonds and then blend them up for his milk! The magic bullet works really well for that! I don't actually have a magic bullet, but I have a knock off from Bed Bath and Beyond that works just as well, and I've been using it for over 4 years now and it still works as good as ever!

I'm not moving the days- I'm flipping them- to make Fri. high carb, as Shabbat starts Fri. night, and Saturday cheat, though it will be more like carb-up....
Think that's OK?
I will do maintenance next week, but will miss my carb-up Wed. I prefer that...I really don't need carbs all day Fri- just a little Fri night... Oh well....

Bball girl - I know how you feel about weighing every day. I do too. I like to weigh every day because it keeps me accountable. So I weigh only after I exercise. That's my "reward" for exercising. I 'get to" weigh. haha. Then if I'm up or haven't lost, (which is usually the case cuz you can't lose every day), I say, "oh well. At least I exercised." If I weigh without exercising I say, "oh geez, what's the point." It's all a head thing, so whatever works. Some people can't stnd to weigh but once a week or so. So, whatever keeps you motivated. But for the first week, go easy on the exercising. You really do have no energy that week - at least me.

Tam - Thanks. I really treat my cheat day as a carb up day, but maybe start earlier. I had a sweet roll for breakfast with my protein shake last weekend.

My poor little Carli's ear infection had gone from just and inner and outer to an inner, outer, middle and then her left ear also had a middle - OUCH. No wonder she was so miserable. They put her on a super duper antibiotic. The pharmacist had pity on me they were on number 94 when I got there (I was number 9) Carli had begun throwing up and he pushed us ahead of everyone else. Poor baby, I hurt when my babies hurt. She seems to be doing better this morning.

Things I have noticed (I've essentially been on this WOE since July):

1. I need less food to fill me up.
Big servings don't 'look' attractive anymore or feel like a 'good value' to me, because I get filled up on smaller servings.

2. Sweets and carbs don't seem as attractive.
AS attractive. They're still attractive, but some of them just don't float my boat like they use to. I really evaluate the 'satisfaction value' of my carbs and sweets as opposed to randomly loading them.

3. If I allow myself to stop eating 2 hours before bedtime, I lose inches/weight.
Invariably I'm 'hungry' if I do this. But I tell myself that THIS hunger is fat being utilized instead of food calories, and that it's okay. If I eat close to bedtime I almost always 'cheat' or overeat.

4. Often 'hunger' is thirst, boredom, or tiredness.
I've learned to have a glass of water and step away first before assuming I'm actually hungry. I've learned what real hunger feels like and to wait for it.

5. Failure to plan is planning to fail. BUT There is no 'blowing it' on this plan.
A mess up is fixed by a carb down day and then voila! Back on schedule. There are no excuses to go into an eating orgy. And even if I try, I fill up faster than I used to, so the damage is minimalized.

6. Support is really important.
For some of us food has been a drug. This group is my OA/AA/NA...

7. Scales lie.
Like dogs. It's better to measure than to weigh. If I must weigh, I wait for a complete Cycle to end.

8. Flavored Teas are the best. Stevia with Inulin ranks high up there, too.
Because sometimes, let's face it, water sucks.

9. You can find creative things to do with protein powder and an egg or two if you're really desperate enough.
Wendy... meh, she's not much of a creative cook. You have to think outside of the box. I had Wendy Approved. chocolate waffles this morning. They were fantabulous.

10. I am a success, even if I don't lose a pound or an inch.
I'm getting healthier in my body, my mind, and my spirit. This is success. I will not be enslaved by anything.

Yea Alissa!! Finally! I'm so glad for you.

Kelley17-What did the doctor say?

catmomkim-way to go! you're on your way now!

Renee-Thanks for the Thanksgiving advice. I think you'll be right about me not wanting the cheat day the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Think I'll play it by ear. I could have maybe a 'mini' cheat that day to have a little Thanksgiving leftovers either for lunch or dinner. dede

I wasn't on this weekend and you guys have been busy. As far as I can tell I only lost 6 pounds week 1. I definitely thought being as fat as I am that I would lose more. But it is okay....onward. Plus I think that TOM is near. So Oh well. I was excited to have my EZ today. It was so yummy.

Now how much fat are we supposed to have or was is our limit?
Thanks for asking she is doing better today. See my post to Tam for more details. WoW I've got several pages to read. Don't want to keep repeating myself or else some of you might be like "how many times is she going to tell us about her daughter

Sarena - hope your baby is feeling better too. It does break your heart when you can't do anything.

keep bad fats under 20 grams. To tell you the truth I never count just use in moderation. Have a great day!

Poor Baby! Those ear infections are horrible! Have you ever tried giving her some emergen-C? They have it in all different flavors, and of course you wouldn't give her the full packet, but that might be an idea for her to help her heal. Emergen-C is wonderful! My daughter uses it for her kids all the time!

Wendy does not like soy or milk so I would say stay away. Read her info on why so is counterproductive for fat loss in the book or check out the FAQ thread in post 3

I so agree with you on all 10 of these! It is amazing the differences I see already just into my 4th week!

Please share the recipe for the chocolate waffles! I love chocolate syrup and I"m going to work on making an approved batch!
