Carb up days have no restrictions to the type of carbs.

"Cheat days" is anything you want that you might not have normally on any other day. If you want to have a fluffernutter sandwich with hot fudge and potato chips on soft white bread (trust me...it's good) or Popeye's Fried Chicken, you can have it.

Ohhhh Jerri - fluffernutter sandwich - I haven't had one of those since I was about 8! Yumm!

Linda- Love the Tattoo! Looks great!

Kelley- I am so sorry! Having your baby girl sick is torture! My girl has a runny nose and I'm kinda flipping out over here, so I can imagine what you are going through. Pretty pitiful. I hope she gets better soon.

Is that cool or what!!! Problem is, the book needs to be COMPLETE by 12/15/08 for a March 2009 release so we need these right away. That's just crazy! So far, the name of the book may be something like, "Crack the fat loss code II - plan, organize & design your Ultimate body, health & life".

What she requests is:
1. Before and after photos. Real photos, not digital. McGraw Hill says that they're easier to work with and I suspect that they may think that some people might digitally enhance photes. Please note that they may not be returned.
2. Stories. What your life was like before and how this has changed your life or accomplishments, or whatever you may deem appropriate. Don't worry if you can't write well. The editors can massage your words without changing any of your message.
3. Recipes. I've seen some in here and they're fabulous. We would love for you to share them.

McGraw Hill will ask for a release to be signed by anybody that is used in the book noting that you are not expecting anything in return and probably something to the effect that you can't sue anybody for anything. There is no compensation for this because the stories are less believable if you get paid to do them. She mentioned getting some
t-shirts made for you, but this is coming up so quickly that we're not sure about anything.

Unfortunately, not everybody can be chosen to be in the book. Be sure to put your LCF.com sign in names tho just so I can put your names with real names and faces.

Send your entries to:

Forever Fit
195 S Westmonte Dr., Suite 1128
Altamonte Springs, FL 32714

Be sure to include your name, address, phone numbers, or whatever identifying info you can give.

Much love to all of you!
Jerri
Jerri - WoW how fun. I don't have a regular photo from before just digital but who would photoshop themselves to look worse. i could probably get a disposable camera for an after shot. I'm so happy for Wendy.

Sorry to hear Carli is suffering! Please try cutting dairy for awhile and see if it helps- wasn't surprised to hear she loves dairy- it may be rough to even try!
New studies show that antibiotics don't always even help ear infections- so it may take awhile- good idea to take her back to the doctor- let us know!!

Did you read the post about your being the age of my kids? Still can't believe it!

The way things are going, I should really be careful, as my panties are too big- I am digging for the old ones that didn't fit until recently, as they fit so much better (sorry TMI).

Didja read Alissa's great news?

I am giddy- it's just such a relief you are OK and back with us- I was worried you never came back from that first doctor's visit- car accident, whatever, and we would never know- or, the way you are going, you may have slid down the drain after a shower
I missed you guys too. Love hearing everyone's progress and catching up. Sounds like we have a lot of people getting caught up in the RULES. I can't believe I could be your daughter. You are young at heart, stay that way

Sorry Tam that is too funny. That would really be awful if not only your skirt fell down, but your panties too

I'm so happy for Alissa, she deserves the best doesn't she.

Sorry to worry you all - just got caught up in the family sickness, hw, you know life. down the drain not quite there yet

Maybe you saw my post to Dede - I did come to my senses and will stay on plan and do a normal baseline today. Old habits die hard Thinking back, I don't think I even had that much wine - maybe 2.5 glasses (DH had some of MY wine as well). I had a small piece of bread, beet/spinach/pine nuts salad and disappointing gnocchi. Then I had 1/2 slices of pumpkin cheesecake. So, Kelley and Dede, no carbing down today - your pupil listens well
Thanks Vladis and I'm so happy you aren't punishing yourself for nothing. Sounds like your day was perfectly acceptable. I love this WOE because it all works out in the end!

So I hope this week shows some weightloss. I am really having a problem with no appetite. I guess I shouldn't complain.
I am doing carb down today but with how my shedule is going to be this week I will have to do C,C,C,D,B, C,D does that look right. I don't have my book with me here at work. But I need my carb ups on Thurs. and Sunday.

I haven't tried the one minute muffin I keep forgetting. You can have on week 1 right?

Kim
Kim - great to have a partner. Will make things so much easier on you. Your schedule looks good. KUTGW. Just remember to eat every 4 hours to keep your fires burning!

Have a great Monday! off to work!

Kelley17 your little angle is in my prayers!

I did my carb up yesterday since we had free tickets to the hockey game. Actually didn't eat enough yesterday because I was so busy and just haven't felt hungry these last few days (I know, should eat a little something anyway.) Did get a little carried away with the free beer tho. Not THAT bad, but I had seen how you guys said it went to your head faster than usual with this WOL and not drinking much anymore. It certainly did. Headache big time last night. That'll teach me

Vladis I'm SO right there with you on the weight thing. I am good with it most of the time, but sometimes I cave, weight myself and then have to work not to get bummed about it. I'm hovering between the same 4 lbs since I started this! But my clothes are more comfortable and I'm crossing my fingers that the weight loss will catch up. I'm also trying to get into my 'old jeans' so that's my real goal right now (one size smaller than I am now.) When those not only go on but are loose and comfy, anything else beyond that will be icing on the cake

I'm looking forward to hearing about the bootcamp thing. I'm sure there are tips and things we can learn by doing it. I try to do everything as exact as I can but there might be things I'm missing, who knows?

I'm most excited about the fact that my daughter started the plan today! This is the 16 year old I was so wanting to but it will be a huge commitment for her. She's never really tried any diet and is so picky about her food it concerns me a little, but she seems determined and I tried to find things that I think she'll eat. I told her to just be very careful this first week, then the rest will be much easier and more forgiving. Cross your fingers for her!

Pam
Pam and for your daughter. We're here for both of you!

This is a big question, and I will have to decide by the end of the week.
I am open to ideas and suggestions!!

Second question- I am confused- what exactly is the difference between a high carb and a carb-up day? I read the chapters again and again and just can't figure it out!!! The only difference I see is the fruit at brkfst on high carb day
Tam - I would do the maintenance to get a feel for it and see how you like it. JMHO though.

Some would- it's like weighing yourself in your shoes after a feast b4 you start, and removing your makeup before weighing a week later

Jerri said you may be able to use a printed digital... she'll find out.

Okay, I finished week one and I lost a freakin' 6 pounds!!!!!!! I stuck to it like glue. No cheating. Not one tiny bit. Yahoo for me!!!! I know I won't lose as much every week, but this is a huge motivator. I put on my shorts this morning and they were a little on the loose side!!! I'm happy. I had my first major carbs for breakfast - power oats - and I have to say, I could NOT eat them all. They were tastey enough, but I was full after about 2/3ds of them and gave them to the chickens instead. (we have 12 chickens). That was two hours ago, and I'm still not hungry. Guess I gotta eat a snack in an hour. That should be about right.

JUPITER!!! You can get through week one. By the end you are not thrilled to see another salad and chicken, but it seems to be worth it.

I got my sister converted. She started this morning.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement

week 4 day 1
thanks for your words of encouragement I was really down this morning. I feel better this afternoon. I am still going to fight the fight, walk the walk and eat the WOE. I will be the poster child for Wendy this week lol I will be in the next book mark my word

Question is there a message board to put out daily menu on so the elders can have a peek and give some feed back. I thought I saw one or someone mentioned one.

Thanks everyone

Congratulations Kim on your loss and your sister joining that makes it twice as nice. Imagine the two of you a few months from now. Jupiter you are going to be amazed how well this woe works and the whole new attitude you develope!

Yea Alissa, shout out loud enough for your ex to hear!

I love all the progress being made and that there are newbies to help. My kids are very proud of me and the fact that food has no control over me at all. They are not happy that our house is no longer filled with chips, cookies, ice cream and soda's. Haven't brought any of those in for 4 weeks. Don't mind if they bring them in but not wasting my money on junk any more. Instead thinking of fun things I want to do this up coming summer. Like go to a "cracker convention" ! You watch, we're gonna all meet somewhere, some day!

Eating my third meal for the day so catch later. I like Mondays, they are my day off but now more importantly......the start of a new week!

Hmmm....week 7? That changes things a little LOL! Technically, week 7 says to do 5 baseline days before your cheat day. You'll have done 4 ina row before Thanksgiving Day, because your last day of week 6 is a baseline. You COULD do your 4 baseline days, use your cheat day on Thursday and then baseline it for the rest of the week. You're going to coming off of accelerated fat loss, so your body should be prepared for the cheat day anyway, and I think you'll be sick of food after Thanksgiving Day, so you might not even want that second cheat day so soon after the holiday. Based on my last round of cheat days, I can honestly say one day of pigging out was PLENTY enough for me LOL! Of course, you could always do 3 baselines, 1 carb dplete, cheat on Turkey Day, deplete on Friday (as per the holiday advice given by Wendy) and cheat again on Saturday followed by a baseline on Sunday. Then you would pick up your week 8 as usual on Monday. In any case, I think you'll be fine whichever route you take. This WOE is SO forgiving!!!! Just drink LOTS of water during and after the cheat days.

Jupiter – Welcome and yes forget your workout for that first week and make sure you eat every 3 hours since you are experiencing that shaky feeling. Feel free to post any questions and check out the FAQ thread posted above for additional info. Good Luck the book is a bit confusing but I promise by week 3 you will be a pro!

Sorry NO PB or EZ Bread the first week – stick to the approved list of foods only for the first week. There is no calorie counting for week 1 – eat when you are hungry and eat your protein. If you are hungry before 3-4 hours you did not eat enough at your last meal, if you are still full you ate too much. I have not measured or counted calories this entire time (in week 16). I’ve learned to eat until full.

You can find them in the supplement area/vitamin aisle. You can also look at Target and Wal-mart have them too.

Jupiter, First of all, congrats on your success on Schwartzbein. I looked into it years ago but really didn't do it. I bought the cook book though and it has some great recipies that I still use today. The Greek fish is one of my all time favorites and it always gets raves.
I think you will love this WOE. I've lost 15 lbs and 7in. total. In 4 weeks. Actually haven't weighed this week yet. Wendy stresses to focus on how your clothes fit and NOT the scale # so much. Of course we all weigh,(preferably only once a week),and measure ourselves. So get out the tape measure today!
I LOVE peanut butter but did not have it the first week. I do have it now though. I love it in my oatmeal. It is a fat so after week one,you do have to watch your fats. One thing I learned during week one is that if you start feeling weak or hungry, you might need to add some fat to your food. This is the only week when you can actually NOT worry to much about fat.
So good luck. You'll find that everyone here is very helpful. The 'oldtimers',(those who've done 2-3 rounds of the plan),are super good folks who are very patient and knowledgable! Oh by the way, do you live in Jupiter Fl? Just wondering. dede

Did you happen to buy Wendy Chant's book? If not, please do as it will be a very helpful manual to you in your efforts.

Week 1 with only 20 g a day was tough but it...ended. You will never have to count carbs past that first week. From the book, "This is when you are restricting certain foods (particularly carbs) and manipulating the amount of glycogen that is stored in the muscle."

We have quite a few people who have done some kind of LC diet in the past. This program is so much more forgiving and kind to your body and your mind.

As far as your exercise, you will have to stop it for the duration of weeks 1. In her book, Wendy explains that in week 1 your body will have enough to cope with. So you can take a well-deserved, guilt free break.

Jupiter, we will help you to get thru. There are a few very experienced and knowledgeable ladies on this board with STELLAR results - you can't fail even if you want to

Join us!

Thanks for all your replies!

I did get the book last Friday but I wanted to start today (which is exactly 8 weeks until the end of the year. I had a goal to lose the 13 lbs I have regained by the end of the year so this worked perfectly), so I read half the book in 24 hours! It was a lot to digest and it isn't really the most clearly written book ever, ya know?!

I am doing okay so far today...I have been hungry pretty soon after every meal, but how can I eat more at each meal when it says exactly how much protein I should eat (like only 4oz. of chicken or exactly 1 egg + 3 egg whites)? Believe me, I maxed out whatever I thought I could (extra lettuce and celery), but I am still pretty hungry. I am getting ready for my 4th meal/snack but I don't have any protein shakes in stock yet. Anyone got any good idea for a 1st week mid-afternoon snack?

For dinner I was thinking about getting steamed chicken and broccoli from my local Chinese joint (no sauces). That would be okay, right?

Hi Dede...nope not from Fla.... Jupiter is my ruling planet : )

The Shwarzbein Principle has some similarities as CTFLC, including not using the scale weight as an indicator and focusing on healing your metabolism. So I am well trained in that area and am looking at this as an 8 week process. When I lost on the SP it was very slow, around a pound a week, but I was never hungry. It was very strict though...not for people who need to have sweets on a daily basis. Dr. Schwarzbein discourages the use of any artificial sweeteners. The good thing is that you lose the cravings, so that is where I am at now. I would only "cheat" on special occasions. I like that CTFLC gives you the freedom to have those special days!

JUPITER!!! You can get through week one. By the end you are not thrilled to see another salad and chicken, but it seems to be worth it.

I got my sister converted. She started this morning.
Great! Congrats on your success. I hope to be there too next week.
I am starting this when I am also PMSing! Way to really test my limits, huh?

Six pounds! That's great!!

I started Week 2 this morning too and had the french toast (legal version). I wasn't overly full eating it, but boy, about an hour later it felt like lead in my stomach. I'm cooking up some spaghetti sauce now (diced tomatoes, tomato paste, salsa combo....no sugar in any....hope that's legal) and can't wait to have it over my spaghetti squash tonight. I missed my veggies last week!
Oops...forgot to mention the ground turkey breast in there also.

Here's to us having a successful week 2!!

One more question....sorry!

I am having trouble seeing how I will get all 20g of the carbs in today. I am following the week 1 sample meal, minus the protein shakes. I get it now that there are no *starches* allowed this week, but we have to count the naturally occurring carbs in the other foods we are eating. So I just ate 3 oz. turkey rolled with some cheese slices (was there a limit on the cheese?), but there were no carbs in this meal. Could I have added something to this meal to get a couple of carbs?

Question is there a message board to put out daily menu on so the elders can have a peek and give some feed back. I thought I saw one or someone mentioned one.

Thanks everyone

Kepp the chin up Nina! Pound wise, I've only lost 16, BUT I feel FABULOUS! (my favorite word LOL) Before the WOE I was squeezing into a 14 - so technically I should have been a 16, and now my 14's are really loose. I carry almost all my weight in my thighs, so the rest of my body is in a 12, but my thghs are having a hard time saying goodbye to the 14's Sooooooooo - please stay away from the scale. Give the full 8 weeks a try and re-evalutae things at the end of the cycle, not just from a weight lossstandpoint, but also a lifestyle standpoint. I think you're doing much better than YOU think you are!

week 5 Day 1

On the first week I had celery, cucumbers and lettece on practically every meal. I am learning to eat veg. so these three were all I would eat. Day 7 you are bored! Yet here I am on week 5 and these guys are my fillers! Ok I was checking out the couch to 5k site and here is the first weeks so look it over and see how doable you think it is for you. I'm sure I can get 3 days a week in to start this. I was telling my son, once I start running the weight loss will be there every week for sure!

Jupter, Move your meals closer together if need be. Eating every 2 hours is totally fine if your feeling hungry sooner than the 3-4 hour suggestion that is listed in the book. Also, up your fat intake to help the hunger situation - you may not be getting enough. Remember, fats are not limited this first week!

hmm it looks better on the website but this is in weeks and you push yourself just a little further each week. I also went to the garage and dug out my stationary bike. Going to the gym right now 3 times a week but I have stuff I could use if the notion hits me right here. for me it's time to up the ante. Eating under control. time to kick up the exercise a notch. See you ladies later.

Don't think you HAVE to have 20gm of carbs;just not more than that.

I second that. I had the same question when I was on week 1. Some days I had only 7-9 grams and other days I would be up to 15-17. Just don't go over 20g.

shopping

Just got back from shopping for clothes. Officially wear large tops instead of extra large. And the large ones were a bit roomy. Medium were too clingy. So tomorrow I'll weigh and measure to see how week four turned out.

Yea Alissa!! Finally! I'm so glad for you.

Kelley17-What did the doctor say?

catmomkim-way to go! you're on your way now!

Renee-Thanks for the Thanksgiving advice. I think you'll be right about me not wanting the cheat day the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Think I'll play it by ear. I could have maybe a 'mini' cheat that day to have a little Thanksgiving leftovers either for lunch or dinner. dede

I am new to the board (and "boards" in general) and I am starting "Crack" week 1 tomorrow (11/10/08), after having spent the last year and a half on the Schwarzbein Principle (lost 38 lbs.). I loved the SP, but leading up into June I had been plateauing pretty badly and then, I started getting really "shaky" and sweaty like I had low blood sugar! To alleviate those symptoms I started upping my carbs per meal, from 15g per meal to 30-50g per meal. Eventually the shakiness started to go away but since June I have gained 13 lbs. back! I don't understand this as I work out regularly and still follow the plan to a "T". I have been to doctors and I can't seem to get any answers and they don't want to hear about my low-carb diet...they just say eat less calories! I think I was not eating enough carbs for the amount of exercise I was doing (45 minutes cardio + weights) and maybe I short circuited myself. I am getting a sense that my body is somehow producing too much insulin and after I eat a balanced meal, I have to eat again pretty soon after or I start to get that feeling. I have a hard time believing that I could be pre-diabetic after losing so much weight and not eating any sugar and limiting my carbs. I don't even use artificial sweeteners! Anyone ever experience anything like this? Whatever the case may be, my metabolism is stuck (even though the results of a BMR test says I am "above average") so I am giving Crack a shot to see if I can re-set my metabolism.

So, I am a little freaked about this first week and only having 20g of carbs. In reading over some of the posts I am thinking I should not try and continue my workout regimen this week. If I get that horrible shaky should I try and work through it? it is the worst feeling!

I read most of the CTFLC book but I still have questions (and concerns), so I may be posting here a lot in the next few days.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom!
Kelley - Sorry about your baby. My daughter is also sick right now, today is her first day since Friday without a fever. It is terrible isn't it? It breaks my heart. Plus all of her teeth are coming in at once.

Happy Monday

I wasn't on this weekend and you guys have been busy. As far as I can tell I only lost 6 pounds week 1. I definitely thought being as fat as I am that I would lose more. But it is okay....onward. Plus I think that TOM is near. So Oh well. I was excited to have my EZ today. It was so yummy.

Now how much fat are we supposed to have or was is our limit?
