Very worried about Kelley- she went off to the doctor with her baby, and never came back- not like her..... Hope all's OK over there...
Tam, thanks! You'd think I could figure out that one on my own (too much vino last night)

Thanks, Dede. It did feel very lonely speaking to myself I am so happy to be able to keep up today. Usually I get to my laptop and there are b/zillion new posts and I can never answer everybody.

I am following the plan. I have not gone down in pant size. I did measure myself at the begining at Curves but havent remeasured as of yet.
I am realistic I know a 1 - 2 lbs loss weekly is the best for lasting weight loss.
But that is not happening.
I am still on the plan but feelilng discouraged.

Nina, I lost 7 in week 1, up 2 pounds in week 2, and down 1 pound in week 3. I don't see any significant inch drop. However, and I keep repeating it to myself, - we are all different. I am so mad at my body - why can't it lose more so that my pants drop!!! I don't know what I can say - I just want to convince you to give it full 8 weeks and judge your progress from there. That's what I've decided for myself. In the meantime, I am sending you my

Actually, I didn't feel any tipsiness right away. However, now that I am thinking about it, I was very giddy Also, the friends whom we met for dinner, said they would bring some wine. I told my husband that I didn't have any wine in a month (!!!!) so I am not leaving anything to chance and brought a bottle of my favorite wine which I was hogging all night in the most anti-social and unfriendly fashion

Yeh, Jackie, I read your post after your unfortunate brush with a-not-so-good carb up meal . I love your attitude though - nothing will stop Jackie on her way to success!!! I told my husband last night that from now on I want to have my own carb up nights - like I will cook something "carby" so that we both enjoy it. Last night I had some gnocchi with broccoli and cherry tomatoes. Sounds much better than it tasted - broccoli was so salty my eyes were like this - . Gnocchi were too cold and just not tasty. I did have a beet, spinach and pine nuts salad and it was GREAT! There were just a few pieces of beet so that wasn't too terribly bad.

Sherrie, Wow! Great job on the weight loss and the inches gone! I wish I had measured myself. I think I will do that right now. Better late than never right? I am on week 6, day 1 today. At week 5 I was down 17 lbs. and stayed the same as of this morning (start of week 6). This was the first week I hadn't lost. I am on the accelerated fat loss weeks so hopefully by next Monday I will have lost more. I remember someone here saying that on week 5 they didn't lose but on week six they lost 3 lbs. Anyway, I've dropped a couple sizes in clothes so I'm very happy. I use my treadmill faithfully. This is the easiest plan to stick to that I have ever been on. I love this WOE!!!
Lynda

That's great that you've lost most weeks and very encouraging. I'm hoping maybe cause I have so much to lose that I will see a loss (at least a little) each week too. I'll look forward to decreasing in sizes....Lord knows I have several in my closet to fit into.

You are so right, and put it so eloquently, I couldn't have said it better myself, all of it, "a grip on my carbfest eating. The more carbs I ate,the more I wanted. I was a puffy, irritable, unhappy mess! " I hated myself!

Israel's fine- it's evening already, LOL! Almost dark! It was a lovely sunny day, and I was sunny too, wearing a sweater and skirt that I hid under another sweater last year as I was so lumpy and bumpy. Thank G-d for static electricity, otherwise I would have lost my skirt today- had to clip my pedometer onto my pantyhose so it would register, as my skirt was hanging too low....

I am wondering if we could add cottage cheese to this recipie for the protein. Has anybody tried this and was it good.

Steam 2 cups of Cauliflower (or broccoli)...until very soft

Blend using a stir stick or food processor (I have the Cuissanart blender stick that makes it really creamy and just like a cream soup)
Add a sprinkle of parm

Last night I added 3 oz of chicken and pureed it too...Man this was just what I needed to hit my "soup spot"

Hi guys, Sorry I was MIA and thanks Alissa for starting the new thread. Busy, tiring weekend with the kids. I skimmed over the posts but I think I’m just going to start with this week’s thread due to the chattiness of our bunch! If someone asked me a question please do it again and once again Sorry

Carli is not doing to well. I think I’m going to have to go back the pediatrician this afternoon. We were up part of the night crying again. Tam thanks for the suggestion about the dairy – she is a big dairy eater. I’m just worried because she has been on the medicine for 48 hours now and her ear still hurts and she is running a fever. She is with my mom now and I will run out of here as soon as I get rid of my students to take her to the doctor. Poor thing, it hurts me to see her hurt. While the Motrin is working she seems to be ok, but around that 6th hour she holds her ear and cries. Thanks for all the concern and I will update you this afternoon.

Julie – good luck with your first day back.

Jupiter – Welcome and yes forget your workout for that first week and make sure you eat every 3 hours since you are experiencing that shaky feeling. Feel free to post any questions and check out the FAQ thread posted above for additional info. Good Luck the book is a bit confusing but I promise by week 3 you will be a pro!

Sorry NO PB or EZ Bread the first week – stick to the approved list of foods only for the first week. There is no calorie counting for week 1 – eat when you are hungry and eat your protein. If you are hungry before 3-4 hours you did not eat enough at your last meal, if you are still full you ate too much. I have not measured or counted calories this entire time (in week 16). I’ve learned to eat until full.

Hi TAM! Thank you for being so concerned about my little one – you really touched me. LOL – Hope the weather remains dry or you might be showing off your panties!

Hi dancing Linda – love your young at heart spirit!

Alissa – Totally agree with you once again NO PB that first week! I do both the protein powder and the atkins shakes – Like Atkins better but my powder is more economical right now

Kydanae – Hi ya!

Dede – Hi! Love it when the newbies become the masters! YEAH!
Dede – just saw your encouragement to Lynda! I just wrote it out myself.
Gemini Linda – KUTGW! Lucky girl going on a cruise! This plan just whizzes by doesn’t it. I can’t believe I’m in my 3rd round of the cycle. Thanks for the well wishes for my little angel Carli (she is 4 but still my baby).

Dede – You know me too Well! I just saw your post to Vladis. Too funny

Sherrie – Hi! Thanks for the thoughts about my little one. Love those stats – I think it is important we all include our inches along with our pounds loss! I think the exercise gets easier with every inch we lose. Plus you have incentive to exercise so you can have the second high carb meal!

Vladis – Hi there, hope you are doing well. You gave some great advice! Hey what is this carbing down per Wendy’s advice? Having an extra glass of wine is not a reason to carb down. That is for when you go crazy! You had a perfectly sane carb up and shouldn’t feel guilty for it. Don’t forget you keep adding in Carb Down days when you get to accelerated fat loss week your body will have adapted because you’ve already done it. Quit feeling guilty – Remember that is NOT Allowed!

Thanks for the thoughts on my little one. Now stop feeling guilty and enjoy yourself!

MMMMMMM….. That Banana Cream sounds yummy!

Lynda – Hi. It goes in waves. I didn’t lose anything weeks 4 and 5 and then in week 6 I lost 4 lbs and week 7 I lost another 2. Remember worry more about how your clothes fit than that dang scale!

Kelly – So sorry to hear your little one is under the weather too. Take care

Spydermonkey – Hey there. I would tell her to go on with her planned day and see what happens. If she felt she really blew it she can do a carb down day, but see my note to Vladis.

Nina – Sorry you are discouraged. Since you are so carb sensitive have you thought about following the plan for diabetics? If you are still discouraged try and email Wendy or private message Jerri on this thread.

Jackie – Hi! How are you and how do you do the multiquote from another thread. You clever girl!

Week 3, Day 1

Hello everyone

I don't have time to read through all the posts but wanted to drop in a hello! I fell off plan over weekend. Not terrible but still fell. So I think I will carb down for a few days to get back on track.

I did notice today however, a shirt I put on this morning wasn't as tight around the midsection as it use to be. Could be just my imagniation but hey I will go with it.

Week 3 already--- wow time flys when your having fun

I am very carb sensitive too, Nina and worried about that happening to me too. Maybe it just takes longer for some of our bodies to get used to this whole carb cycling process. I know others have experienced that and then shown a good loss in weeks 5&6. Just stick to plan (harder, I know when the scale isn't a motivator) and get your exercise in. Don't get discouraged, and take your measurements...you might be surprised!

week 5 Day 1

Goodmorning everyone.

I'm excited, i thought for sure I gained at least a pound because I was trying to eat more than I wanted to make sure I was following the woe correctly. I must have chosen the right size portions because I lost 2 lbs.

such a relief to be figuring this out correctly for me. I have two students starting today and I want to be able to give good advise luckily I have had excellant advise here to pass on. Will try to get them to join here though as nothing beats us!

Nina, everyone gets discouraged but the others are right stupid scale doesn't get to be the only way to monitor your progress. Your body is head honcho, do you feel better? Are you hungry? All cravings gone? These three are good and you know your in the right place it's a matter of time.

Sherri congrats on your loss, it's wonderful and now on to conquering the
next week.

Kelly I hope your baby girl is getting best and I know you are busy taking care of her. We'll see you when the time is right. Hugs to you.

Dede, Vladis, Tam and Jackie seems you ladies have everything under control I'm off to eat breakfast and run errands check in later.

What a relief to have you back! We missed you terribly!!!!
We just can't live without you- as you can see from your own answers, you are our in house expert and a great inspiration!!
Sorry to hear Carli is suffering! Please try cutting dairy for awhile and see if it helps- wasn't surprised to hear she loves dairy- it may be rough to even try!
New studies show that antibiotics don't always even help ear infections- so it may take awhile- good idea to take her back to the doctor- let us know!!

Did you read the post about your being the age of my kids? Still can't believe it!

The way things are going, I should really be careful, as my panties are too big- I am digging for the old ones that didn't fit until recently, as they fit so much better (sorry TMI).

Didja read Alissa's great news?

I am giddy- it's just such a relief you are OK and back with us- I was worried you never came back from that first doctor's visit- car accident, whatever, and we would never know- or, the way you are going, you may have slid down the drain after a shower

Kelley!!!!!!So happy you stopped by. I am so sorry about Carli. I can't imagine how you must be feeling when your little girl is hurting and you can't do as much as you want to ease that pain. You take care of your girl and we promise not to go too wild here
Maybe you saw my post to Dede - I did come to my senses and will stay on plan and do a normal baseline today. Old habits die hard Thinking back, I don't think I even had that much wine - maybe 2.5 glasses (DH had some of MY wine as well). I had a small piece of bread, beet/spinach/pine nuts salad and disappointing gnocchi. Then I had 1/2 slices of pumpkin cheesecake. So, Kelley and Dede, no carbing down today - your pupil listens well

Week 5 Day 1

Goodmorning everyone! Well I have some good news. My husband is joining us on this venture. I am really excited. I told him about the message board so don't know if he will join or not. He says it is all women on there but I told him there are some husbands on here doing it also. So I told him to go on here and read today.
So I hope this week shows some weightloss. I am really having a problem with no appetite. I guess I shouldn't complain.
I am doing carb down today but with how my shedule is going to be this week I will have to do C,C,C,D,B, C,D does that look right. I don't have my book with me here at work. But I need my carb ups on Thurs. and Sunday.

I haven't tried the one minute muffin I keep forgetting. You can have on week 1 right?

Kim

Congrats everyone on your losses and THANK YOU for your support during my melt down this weekend!

I did my carb up yesterday since we had free tickets to the hockey game. Actually didn't eat enough yesterday because I was so busy and just haven't felt hungry these last few days (I know, should eat a little something anyway.) Did get a little carried away with the free beer tho. Not THAT bad, but I had seen how you guys said it went to your head faster than usual with this WOL and not drinking much anymore. It certainly did. Headache big time last night. That'll teach me

Vladis I'm SO right there with you on the weight thing. I am good with it most of the time, but sometimes I cave, weight myself and then have to work not to get bummed about it. I'm hovering between the same 4 lbs since I started this! But my clothes are more comfortable and I'm crossing my fingers that the weight loss will catch up. I'm also trying to get into my 'old jeans' so that's my real goal right now (one size smaller than I am now.) When those not only go on but are loose and comfy, anything else beyond that will be icing on the cake

I'm looking forward to hearing about the bootcamp thing. I'm sure there are tips and things we can learn by doing it. I try to do everything as exact as I can but there might be things I'm missing, who knows?

I'm most excited about the fact that my daughter started the plan today! This is the 16 year old I was so wanting to but it will be a huge commitment for her. She's never really tried any diet and is so picky about her food it concerns me a little, but she seems determined and I tried to find things that I think she'll eat. I told her to just be very careful this first week, then the rest will be much easier and more forgiving. Cross your fingers for her!

haven't left yet fixing my signature to show loss and week loss. Kim I bet your husband is going to be quite happy. Men lose faster, so you might get jealous. Tell your husband we don't bite and it would be nice to get a man's perspective. I bet there are other men watching in the background but too shy.

Hey guys! If you have questions or recipes please join us. Woe is for everyone and we all want to be "losers" together.

See ya all later.

such a relief to be figuring this out correctly for me.

Thanks, Linda and congratulations on your 2lb!! Sounds good. (love your tatoo).

2 Big Questions

OK, wise ladies....
All you oldies that know my history (holidays and all....)- what do I do next week- do I do maintenance even though I had all those Holiday weeks in the middle of these 8 weeks, or do I go back to week 2 and do through week 8....?
This is a big question, and I will have to decide by the end of the week.
I am open to ideas and suggestions!!

Second question- I am confused- what exactly is the difference between a high carb and a carb-up day? I read the chapters again and again and just can't figure it out!!! The only difference I see is the fruit at brkfst on high carb day

Oh, Tam...you've got me hysterical!

It's one thing if the only thing holding up your skirt is static electricity, but if your panties are too big too...you could be in major trouble!!!

Kelley...sorry to hear Carli is still feeling so poorly...the poor little sweetheart. Glad to hear she's with Grandma today, who will undoubtedly spoil her and try to make her feel better. (That's our job as Grandma's) Hope the medication kicks in soon and and she's up and active again.

Tam.I was confused about the high carb and carb up too. This is my understanding. First of all, cheat day is any carb,(good or bad, anytime),not waiting til after 3p. Carb up is eating good or bad carbs last 2 meals after 3p. And high carb is eating only "acceptable" carbs throughout the day(not waiting til after 3). And as Wendy says, not overstuffing on any of thiese days. Please correct me wise ones if this is wrong.

Pam...so happy to hear your daughter is joining us too. I think it's just wonderful when kids that age handle the extra weight before unhealthy eating habits become a lifelong habit. I certainly wish I had found something like this at that age.

I would love my DD35 to give this plan a try too. I have started so many and then failed, that it's hard for her to get excited with me about a new one. I'm hoping that as time goes on and she sees me looking better and feeling more energetic and still sees me eating "normally" that she will become interested.

She will! I don't even talk about my WOE at home anymore (besides DH, who is super supportive now that he's seeing the results, and my happiness about it)- once she sees your success she will beg to join us!!!
