Ohhh, what beautiful children and grandchildren you have! You are so very lucky. I can't believe your daughter had all 5 children and still looks so great. I had four and i am so frumpy. I was thin after i had them but the stress of having 4 young children, a so-so marriage and a husband that worked away all week finally got to me. I am heavier now than after i had my 4th kid and all my kids were around the 10lb mark. If i could do it over again . . . alas, i cannot turn back time but i can turn around my future.

Thank you for the website linda, it looks good and i can get gluten free bread here but i need to know who to ask Wendy if it is a replacement for ez bread or if it is a regular carb. Can someone let me know how to ask her this question? thanks. It is great to know that there are people to help when you aren't sure where to turn. I love this support group.
Thank you, Kate.

Kate: What about making your own EZ bread? There is a company online where you can buy the mix and put it in your food processor and grind it up to flour. I'll post the regular EZ bread recipe online and get you the name of that company and you can maybe try to make some for yourself so there won't be the danger of nuts. Are you able to do that?
Kate I posted the link for the mix and the recipe on the recipe thread.

Isn't it good? I think we, along with Alissa, decided it was P and O

I made a great bean soup for carb up dinner tonight with course ground cornmeal muffins! YAHOO!!!! I'll post about it tomorrow on my foodblog.

Is 2% cottage cheese good for the baked cheese recipie it sounds good to me. Is it solid when it bakes up or spreadable. Does it keep well after it is cooked so I could cook it ahead and reheat it.

Hi Nina!

You have an extra CARB DOWN day in week 5 and 6. So you may choose EITHER Monday or Thursday as your "additional" carb down day. The rest of the days remain unchanged.

So...
Sun - Baseline
Mon - Base or Carb Down
Tues - Carb Down
Wed - Carb up
Thurs - Baseline or carb down (depending on if you choose Monday)
Fri - Carb down
Sat - Carb up

HTH!!

Cheers!

Alissa

p.s. It makes no difference which day you choose...but to MAXIMIZE the fat burn, you want to get some cardio and weights in on your carb down days.

Hi everyone,

I am so glad to have the TOTY interview finished. I survived. Now I can just enjoy being the TOTY for my school.

So I have been slacking on my exercise and I am so mad at myself. I going to do my best at getting back on track starting tomorrow.

I need some advice. I will be in week # 5 the week of Thanksgiving. My problem is that I plan to go on a girl's weekend shopping trip on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. I am not sure what I should do. I almost would rather have my carb up day on that Friday so that I can enjoy eating dinner out. I think I can manage Thanksgiving as a carb down day. Does anyone have any menu suggestions to help me with this? Also does this plan look right for a Week # 5?

M-Carb down
T-Carb down
W-Carb up
Th-Carb down
F-Carb up
S-Baseline
S-Baseline?

Please give me feed back on this schedule for the week.

Congratulations on surviving the interview. Now forward!

It is my understanding that as long as you do a carb down before your carb up, you can change the day as you need to. Looks good to me.

I haven't used 2% in it, but you can sure try it! Depending on how long you cook it, it can be spreadable or solid. It does keep well, so you can cook it ahead and reheat it.

I use a small (15 oz.) can of pumpkin and store it in a plastic container in the refrigerator. I'm sure I''ll use it up pretty quickly!

Hi,

My dad and brother came to visit last week and my dad brought 5 loaves for low sodium EZ bread with him! He went to a lot of health food stores to find it but I am so happy he did. I love the bread, it is really good toasted. I am looking forward to having a tuna sandwich tomorrow for lunch.

I was in a health food store in the town I work in and spotted bags of Ezekiel flour. They were on sale for half price so I grabbed one. The flour was made by a small company out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. They do not even have a website to order more from but I do have their phone number. Jackie posted a great recipe that I will modify (less honey) in the recipe thread. I will give it a try when I am done the five loaves of bread. Bread tends to dry up in the freezer if it is in there too long so I want to use it up before making more.

I put a few slices of EZ bread in my Nuwave oven on the dehydrate setting and then made crumbs of it. I used the crumbs to mix in with lean ground beef to make meatballs. They were really good but I made sure that I only ate them for meals that EZ bread would be allowed. I still haven't tried the French toast but will eventually. I am not a big sweets fan.

Today was my third carb up day. I was out of control for the first one but did much better Wednesday and today. I did not stuff and i did not want to eat every carb in site either. I actually had a difficult time deciding what to have tonight because nothing sounded appealing to me. I settled for a small plate of Potato Nachos. My next carb up day is Wednesday and I have parent/teacher interviews that evening. Because I commute a will not have time to go home in between. Luckily there is a Subway two blocks from my school so I will grab a 6 inch sub and small bag of chips for a quick meal that evening. When I get home I think I will have a low carb beer and clamato juice for my second meal. I have interviews again Thursday night but I will just bring some protein and salad to have for dinner at school.

I lost weight initially but nothing too much is happening any more. I guess I am in that week 2 - 4 adjust period where most do not lose much. I am looking forward to the accelerated weight loss weeks, hopefully my body starts responding by then. At least I am now bouncing around the low 170's instead of the high 170's now. I am looking forward to seeing the 160's on the scale.

Val

Nina – ohhh, what a great looking horse. I see you do shows, my girls did their first one last year but didn’t have a clue what they were doing. Great experience and they learned a lot. They prefer the barrels, pole bending and trail part of the show not the dress-up – ride-good – make your horse behave part. Where is the cowboy smiley?? You can freeze the leftover pumpkin, maybe put enough for a few days in each freezer bag/container and then just take it out when you need it.

Kelley– I just do the tae-bo basic for now but I do have the advanced tape. I just need to keep moving so I don’t get a cramp in my back (like when I am walking/jogging) and billy blanks moves all over the place. Enjoying it so far but ohhh, the burning legs! Feels good though, then I know I have done something good for myself, no pain no gain. I might be able to order the flour online, I will have to check into it but I can’t order the actual bread because customs likes to hold things up and it might go moldy.

Jackie – thanks for posting the recipe. I will go and check it out. Might be able to find all the ingredients and make my own flour etc. I can’t get the ingredients here but maybe next weekend when I go to the city. “when we go to the city” is one of my most used phrases when we can’t get something in our little town.

Val – I am about 4 hours from Saskatoon but maybe I could get them to put some on the bus or something or tell me where I could buy it closer to home. Can you give me their number?

Linda alwaysdancing – ohhh, sounds like you are having fun! Good thing you can still type straight!

Love that line about the past and future... I was fine through 5 births, weighing less after babies than b4 I got married- After baby 6 and a nasty case of hepititis and then mono a year later my weight started creeping up, and the last 3, 7-9, c-sections, did me in.... about 8 years ago my thyroid gland went kaput, and it's been downhill (actually uphill ever since....)
I also love this group- I would have given up loooong ago without all of you!

I am doing maintenance, though I do better with fruit in the evening- is that allowed? Or after lunch? 1:30 ish? What's the story about fruit in the morning? Not too good for me....
My plea for advice was about making it better and more effective....

Hi Kate,

Wow, I didn't even think anyone would have ever even heard of Saskatoon, much less be four hours away. Where are you located? I am a Saskatchewan girl living in Cold Lake, Alberta. I grew up and went to University in Regina. Shame about those Riders last weekend!

The company that makes the EZ flour is:

Greenline Distributors, (306) 975-1046

The bag of flour I bought was 3.5 kg and was selling for $14.00 in a health food store, I got it for $7.00. I hope you are able to get them to send you some. If not, let me know and I can mail you a bag from here.

There is also a place in Estevan that sells an EZ Bread mix. I emailed them and they are willing to send it out to people. I was going to order from them (even though their shipping costs were ridiculous) but then my dad came from Regina with 5 loaves of EZ bread. Their website is:

Daybreak-Scheresky Mill -- Canadian, Canada, Organic Farmers, organic grain, organic flour, organic, mill

The email address is:

raymond.aspinall@sasktel.net

He never did let me know the ingredients either so you will want to ask him what is in it.

Let me know if I can help you out at all.

Val

Val - don't want to mention my town name but i am south of cold lake and west of saskatoon. went there in Sept to visit relatives but of course, had not started the ctflc then so never thought to look for the bread/flour. Can you tell me if there are any allergy alerts on the bag of flour? i may just have to buy the ingredients and make my own flour. i did get a list of the ingredients from a website.

Hi Renee!!

Great job and it was so nice to get your update! I am sure you did fabulously!

Your meal planner looks great, and yes you can do it that way BUT are you SURE you want to plan a carb down for Thanksgiving?? I would reconsider that...JMHO...holidays should be "free" days!

Hi Ladies...

You all are doing so well!!! WOW, what a group we have become...warms my heart

I have had a heck of a week...confession time...I only worked out twice and fell waaayyyyy off in my eating. The emotions and stress and pace of the week coupled with a lack of sleep and a sick kiddo...boy o boy I really have just been trying to boot strap form one day to the next. I have to cook my chicken tomorrow, cut my veggies, stock up on broccoli, cheese sticks and make a bunch of HB eggs! skipping breakfast ALWAYS does me in...this last week I lived on coffee and the effect was a huge influx of food when?? You got it...in the evening and later at night. I have been doing this long enough that iw as on auto-pilot and with the schedule changes and massive adjustment to me week, I just plain forgot to plan! Sooo...onward! Today was a fairly controlled Carb up...but I have that icky bloated feeling, TOM and definately lacking water this week. So be it. Tomorrow back on track I can tell i was not able to post too much or catch up with everyone because when I do...i stay totally on track...so hope to see you all more this week

The beauty of this program is that you can fix any food blunder, eating splurge, holiWEEK, vacation food fest or over indulgence and get right back on track! And that happens to all of us at some point!

Cheers ladies!

Can you tell me if there are any allergy alerts on the bag of flour? i may just have to buy the ingredients and make my own flour. i did get a list of the ingredients from a website.
Hi Kate,

I think my dad got the EZ bread at Old Fashioned Foods. There is one in Saskatoon, here is the number:

tel: 306-665-0007

They carry a lot of products so they may have the EZ flour also. My bag of flour does not indicate nut free or not, you will have to ask them.

thanks again val for all your help. it is nice to see a fellow albertan on. usually if it doesnt say "may contain", it is clear of nuts. It for sure has to specify if there are nuts used or if they also grind nuts with the same machines they grind the flour with. The problem with the pre-baked products is that so many different products are baked using the same machinery to make it cost effective and unfortunately for a growing number of people with food allergies, it makes us unable to purchase the products. I really feel sorry for kids because they suffer the most.

For those who celebrate Thanksgiving next week, how about gearing up for the celebration with a challenge. A water challenge! I know from experience that drinking plenty helps you lose weight, I don't always do it. So, until Thanksgiving I challenge you join me in the "Turkey Day Float Away". Let's get flushing!

Val
Val: I'm so happy you got some EZ bread! I had the french toast wtih the sesame EZ bread this morning. I made a chocolate syrup (from my days as a kid) and it was so delish!

Must've been a killer margarita! I could tell your tipsiness through your email. Isn't that funny? We get so used to each other we can read our emotions and feelings through email? Just drink some water this morning and flush it out! You'll do fine.

Kate: I'm going to try to make it myself. That bread mix was pretty cheap on that website and I have 2 bread machines. Do you have one?

Wendy, sounds good to me. I stated before on this forum that I've often heard you should take your weight, divide it in half, and drink that number in ounces of water each day. So I would need to drink 109 ounces of water if that is true. I'll join you!
