Carb Up Days

I just wanted to let everyone know how it is going with my carb up days. When I first started the program and had completed the carb deplete week, and got into that 2nd week and more specifically to that first carb up day, I felt out of control. I didn't know how my body would respond to eating those mainly carb meals.

I found myself planning for things that I normally wouldn't eat, just because I could. I drank lots of water with my meal, and instead of going ahead and ordering that "regular" pasta, I did order the ww. I kind of gave myself the impression that in order to do these meals I must eat out. Well, I discovered I have more control if I eat in! So I am planning my own carb up meals now and doing very well with it. I am making myself great meals, delicious meals full of flavor, and often now accompanied by a nice glass of wine. Yes, I have made it past those first 3 weeks.

So for those of you who feel out of control, or are afraid to do the carb up meals. Plan your own. Don't put yourself out in a situation where you might not yet be strong enough to make the right decision about what you are going to eat for that meal. And personally, I don't think it is eating the carbs that make you crave more, I think it is not drinking enough water when you eat them that cause the cravings. Just keep pushing the water. I have paid close attention the past few days to my water consumption, and my cravings seem to be directly correlated to not drinking enough water.

But mostly, don't be afraid of the carb up days. They are an important part of this WOE. You must do it in order for the plan to work, just don't overdo. I guess that is something I remember reading over and over in Wendy's book, don't stuff, and I think that for those of us who are emotional eaters or overeaters, we do stuff. Be aware of the triggers that start that process.

It gets easier the more you get in to this WOE. Believe you me, I was scared to death to try one more thing, because up to now, I had never stuck with something, and followed it, like I have been able to do with this WOE for almost 5 weeks now. IT WORKS and just FLAT OUT ROCKS!

I am thankful for this plan and for each and every one of you.

BAD FOOD DAY TWO DAYS IN A ROW!!! However, I had a blast last night and didn't worry about the bad food. I can always redeem myself by carbing down a few days and resuming my cycle without feeling guilty about blowing it for 2 days! I went to a Murder Mystery dinner last night, where we all played roles. I was Rosie Marie, the owner of The Juice Joint, an illegal speakeasy during the prohibition in the 1920's. There were 7 other people playing roles, and it took us 2 hours, lots of laughs, great eats, and super playacting to figure out who the murderer was. None of us was right, except the one person who knew he was the murderer. It was like participating in a live play without a script - the ad libbing was hilarious! The one guy who played a gangster was so funny! I wore a 1920's style low-waist black dress with a red satin sash and a rose at the hip. I made the dress after school Friday! And Thursday night I crocheted a flapper-style cloche (hat) and pinned another satin rose on the side of it. (Well, "Rosie" HAD to wear roses, didn't she?) The cloche is so cute, I think I'll make another one. I usually look stupid in hats, but I like that way this one looks. Anyways, it was a riot and worth the bad eating (which wasn't really that bad except for the pasta and dessert - and on a carb down day! I planned poorly, but I can fix it. That's the beauty of CTFLC. You can make a mistake, forgive yourself, fix it, and move on!

Have a happy Saturday!

My ex apologized to my kids, but never to me. I don't expect it. He could never admit anything was his fault - it was always mine. So be it in his delusional mind.

SO SORRY KELLY 17!!!! I will TRY to steer clear of them. . . . I will do my best. I definitely do not want any voodoo on the scale - as it already seems possessed. . . . Thanks again guys. I am not a techno person, so when my daughter comes home from college she can help me do things like put up a picture , how to quote messages etc. I know that sounds so lame, but what can I say. I have other talents. hahaha
Kim - No problem. I just don't want you to get discouraged because of that dang scale! It is YOUR ENEMY TOO! Those inches will come off left and right, but the scale may barely budge. I had to be in low 130s to wear an 8 before so the plan does work!

Good morning Kelly and Julie!

I went to a murder dinner and we had about 2 people, a few did guess it was the saloon gal. Glad you had fun!

I am up early to go do a private. Every Saturday at 9:00 I have a couple who consider me a fun part of their exercise!

Today is D day and I'm wondering what I'll do for it. Everyone loves to eat after class so they will be happy I'll join them. I've got a couple of people who ask me is this a d day? They know they can take me out to eat if it is. The twins took me to a french restaurant last night but I just had tea and laughed at thier silliness.

See you sometime later.

Julie - How fun! And WoW you made your costume???? I wish I was domestic like that. I'm only good at cake decorating!

Don't let me hear about a COUPLE of Carb Down Days. ONE at the most is all you need. Remember adding Carb Down Days is only for when you go over board for more than a couple of days. You don't want to add too many carb down days because when you get to accelerated fat loss weel your body will have adjusted because you have been doing them all the time.

Did you check out Renee's post on an interview done with Wendy? Wendy says about every 18 days we should go a little wild with our calories - it shocks our system! Wait let me get it so everyone can see it:

1. Pig out every 18 days

Your body gets used to the way you eat, which means if you're eating the same amount of calories at every mini-meal every day, you'll hit a diet plateau. That's why Chant suggests overeating every 18 days, especially if your metabolism is super sluggish. On that day, go crazy and eat whatever you want. "If you think of your body as a fireplace, the more logs you add, or food in this case, the hotter and faster the fire will burn," she says, adding that her clients love this strategy during the holidays.

So you see you can technically say you DID the RIGHT Thing last night

Hi Kelley and Linda (dancing)

I plopped my butt on the sofa last night and stretched. My upper thighs are a little sore from working out. I did my wii Yoga in the morning and walked. Then I found a Callanetics tape and decided to pop that in and try it. Oh well, too much in one day, but I feel pretty good today.

Linda~~You're perfect as a saloon girl, doing the can-can. Have a great day.

My divorce attorney has actually become my friend if you can believe it! I love going out to lunch and catching up with her. Now that those issues are buttoned up, we can relax in a friendship. My appeals attorney is handling an outstanding issue from the divorce trial...stupid money stuff but necessary. My collections attorney and real estate attorney is handling the judgment, since he owes me so much money and won't pay...though he did now of course he was near 6 months delinquent! You know, it worked out for the best So there you go, three attorneys! Two of them have suggested that I become one...after this baptism into the world of family law I probably could!!
I know exactly what you mean about interacting with him. Mine always seemed to have this way of pausing (his breath hissing in, like a snake) and then saying, "no that's not how it going to be done. I planned blah blah balh, my way or no way blah blah blah." I wasn't the person I am now. That was 20 yrs ago!

Good morning! I haven't caught up yet, but wanted to say hi. Yesterday was rough - had my yearly evaluation which is always hard to hear (it's kinda like the teacher at school who prides herself on never giving an 'A'). Ended up in an argument with my boss then crying (which I also hate). Believe it or not, this was a GOOD evaluation! I even got a raise. LOL. One of my attorney's is just really rough to work for - no one else will :/

So had a party last night - totally wasn't in the mood to be entertaining but it went well anyway. I always end up having fun but was exhausted since I didn't get home til nearly midnight. Wasn't feeling well so skipped morning and afternoon snack then just had a shake for dinner on the way to the party but hubby had food waiting for me when I got home at 11:30! Chicken with tomatoes, onions and mushrooms on some lettuce. He's so good to me Was supposed to have a party tonight but I just handed it off. I have parties just about every Saturday and need a break after yesterday.

Their was a storm last night at 3 am that woke me up but I was so exhausted I just went back to sleep. Besides, I've always been laughed at for worrying about tornadoes whenever there's a storm (I'm from Kansas, of course I do!) but there's not many out here in NC. This morning it's on the news that just 20 miles from us the town is tore up from a tornado, two dead and a child missing! I am thanking God this morning that we are safe this morning.

I'll try to catch up later but haven't made breakfast yet so better go try to help. Plus my 3 yr old won't stop talking so I can think Don't know where she gets it! LOL!

This is carb up so not sure what I'll do. Thinking I might try to talk hubby into going to the comedy club we have here - we haven't done that in a while!

Thanks for the info, Kelley. I figured I'd do 2 carb down days since I did 2 bad days of eating, on a carb down day and a baseline day. So I knew I'd carb down today for sure. Should I baseline tomorrow and start Monday as Week 6 Day 1 Carb down day for acc. fat loss week?

I LIKE the idea that my body was probably saying "What the heck is all this stuff" and went to work on it! I could do that every 18 days! That will make the holidays easier, too. Gee, it's nice to know I blew the plan by doing the RIGHT thing! Kind of an oxymoron!

Cake decorating is an art! You have a talent there, so flaunt it! (MMM, and send me a cake????? Oh,wait, I had that last night! It was homemade pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting (could I have eaten any worse on a carb down day PLUS pasta????) It was worth it!

Good morning

good morning Linda and everyone else My attitude is better today I just went to the menu board and printed off the recipies that I liked and I am trying to plan ahead. That is my biggest problem is the planning.

I also need good snack ideas can we start a list maybe on the recipie board.

Is a 2 min muffin a complete snack or do we have to add more protein?

WESTERN BAGELS

I have a question. Is anyone familar with the Western Bagel products? They are located in CA. I used to order them because a whole bagel is only 110 calories. Western Bagel. I'm just wondering if I can substitute some of their products for EZ bread.

Alissa – CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR HOUSE! That is great news and I am so happy for you. You deserve to be settled and happy.

Vladis – you made me laugh out loud with your comment about your DH wanting some of your measured out salmon. That has happened to me and I guard my measured food like some kind of wild animal! You are too funny.

Exercise on carb up day – I go to curves Monday, Wednesday & Friday and my carb up day was today so I dug out my dusty old tae bo tape and did a ½ workout. My legs are sore but I kept up pretty darn good. My DD12 was watching (she was supposed to be in bed) and when I gave her heck, she said, I am watching cause you look cool. I think she was secretly laughing at me but didn’t want to hurt my feelings!

Pat – don’t see you on much, how are you doing? Where do you live in Michigan? I used to live in Pontiac, Warren, Dearborn and then Sterling Heights. Then we moved wayyyyy out to western Canada.

Deb – you should be able to get the ground flaxseed at the grocery store or Walmart. I buy the toasted milled flaxseed which has a nutty flavor and is delicious.

Cynthia – thanks for posting your weight loss, it is an inspiration for me as I am on week 3 on my second round. Can hardly wait to get to the end of the cycle again to see how I am doing.

Kelley17 – didn’t realize you were on round 3! Wow, time flies when you are having fun! I really mean that too, without this support group, I would never have made it this far. Good luck in round 3!

Oh my gosh . . . I just got it. When Vladis posted about having the muffin before a weigh in I wondered what she was talking about but when wildcat had a laughing smilie, it finally hit me . . . hehehe how funny you are Vladis!

Tam – sorry to hear about your Aunt and Uncle and what a touching story. It seems like he knew something even without being told.

Bballgirl- have you tried some artificial sweetner and cinnamon with your cottage cheese? It may sound yucky but it is really good. Totally changes the taste and almost like a dessert.

Question – is there anyone that is overweight that isn’t an emotional eater? Just wondering because it seems like there is a lot of us here that have the same problem.
thanks for the suggestion. Ill try that...but its not even the taste of cottage cheese...its the texture...i feel like i am eating spoiled milk...hahah..i wouldnt mind farmers cheese but i dont think its allowed...oh well...

Jackie - thanks for this post. I was thinking that a carb-up day would be best going out because then I wouldn't have "extra" helpings hanging around in my fridge. Always a problem for me, as I live alone. I guess I'll have to plan out some single-serving meals for those days.

Question to all: There is no way I'm going to be able to go back and read all the threads, so tell me - What kind of success are you having on this WOE? Are you here mainly to lose weight? Or are you just into healthier eating? Maintaining?

Just curious.

Hi Linda - My Stats are totally this WOE! I've lost almost 30 lbs and over 28 inches. I started this WOE the last week of July and I'm loving every minute of it.

As for your carb up days - I know many people freeze whatever they don't eat. You will also find that if you are eating your protein every 3-4 hours and getting your water those cravings don't seem to happen. I was a chocoholic and would leave my house at midnight for chocolate. Now I have my kids Halloween Candy in the house and it doesn't bother me. Good Luck!
