Nina, Nina, Nina I read Jackie's post to you and I just want to sign my name to it as well. I also think you just need to relax and stop being hard on yourself. Plan, plan, plan for your success. There are so many different menu options on the menu thread - you don't even need to invent anything. I am glad you are with us and I just hope you can let yourself just live and be

Catmomkim - don't freak out What happened is NORMAL. Even in her book Wendy says that a slight weight gain might occur in week 2. I gained 1.5 pounds and then dropped one pound in week 3 (well, let's forget for a second that we are not ALLOWED to weigh ourselves in the first place or there will be hell to pay from Kelley and Alissa ).

Don't worry and carb up tomorrow - you HAVE to to make this work. Enjoy it and that one pound (if it was ever there in the first place) will drop off.

Hi Kim,
I'm on Week 2, Day 7 and the scale was up a little this morning as well. I was afraid to Carb Up today but I did it anyway. I think a lot of ladies gain a bit sometime after the first week or so but eventually the weight start coming off again. If you are losing inches, that's great! (I didn't measure myself but I can tell by how I'm looking and how my clothes are fitting that I've lost inches. Plus, I feel great and really enjoyed carbing up today ... without going overboard. )

Hang in there!

I had the most wonderful cheat day yesterday (actually, last night), the only problem is that THERE IS NO CHEAT DAY IN WEEK 3! It started out as a carb up day and since i wasn't feeling well in the morning, totally missed my protein meals. You can guess what happened from there. I ended up having two bowls (yes 2) of raisin bran, a bag of 100 calorie chips and and english muffin with honey and butter and oh yes, i wasn't finished there, i had crackers with chipolte hummus (it is delicious). Ok, that was finally the end. But, i am learning, this only happens to me when i don't eat enough protein throughout the day. I did feel guilty enough to get out my old dusty tae bo tape and do 1/2 hour of exercise. I just cant believe i couldn't stop myself after working so hard to get where i am. So, i am just going to do a carb down today and maybe tomorrow and i will jump back on board. Everything is not lost, i just have to try to remember to eat my protein, even if i am not feeling well. oh yeah, TOM is around the corner so usually can tell when it is coming cause i crave starches but only for a couple of days. During and after, i am fine. ok, enough babbling but hoping that maybe my insight into why this happened can help someone else. I also have a workout at curves planned for today and then i will do tae-bo all weekend. it sure works the legs in ways that i never imagined!

As much as i miss having a baby around, it is nice when the kids get older and they do their own laundry and get their own snacks etc. My oldest is 20 and my youngest is 12 so I am hoping i planned it just right so that maybe i have a grandchild before the youngest one leaves home (that is if she stays until she is 18 - I am such a mean mom so who knows what will happen). My kids have been my whole life so i dont know how i will feel when they move out . . . on the upside, since the kids don't need me as much, me and DH have been doing alot more things together like quadding and snowmobiling. It is kind of nice for me and him to be able to do stuff together now.

Kate - It didn't sound so bad. Look at it this way you've learned what makes you binge. I'm the same way. If I don't get my meals in I'm in the fridge and cupboard looking for something to eat. I eat every 3-4 hours I'm fine.

I'm glad you got a day to do nothing. We all need those every now and then

OMG, you're doing fantastic!! You sound like I did in the middle of week 2. I lost and then gained. I am not getting back on the scale for a while. I wore a blouse last night that I couldn't button before and a pair of pants that weren't snug in the waist and the pockets were laying flat. I almost did a jig. THAT made me happy. If you search threw the threads you'll find quite a few that felt the way you do now and they stuck with it. Just watch your portions on carb up, make sure your drinking enough water and DON'T WEIGH YOURSELF. I've been doing more cardio and strength exercise, so I bet right now my weight has increased but my waist went down another 1/2".

PAM - I still have little ones 7 (almost 8), 4 and 18 mos. and yes I would love another one, but my hubby would kill me. I'm hoping getting my body back and feeling good will take that urge away. Like you if we had all the money in the world I would definitely have a house full!

I've been keeping myself busy by setting up my own menu planning charts in Excel. Now I want to add food lists to help with the shopping. I'll be shopping a bit on the way home today - found a store that carries Ezekiel Bread. Yay! Then tonight I'll be making out a menu and shopping list. I'll be starting Week 2 on Sunday, so want to be prepared - NO EXCUSES!

Well, you are such a chatty group there's no way I can do any personals right now. Just wanted you all to know that I appreciate all the good information here.

Nina Sorry you had a rough day. I don't know what to tell you, but you've got to decide this is for you or not. I wish I could do something or say something that will make you feel better. Give yourself a break, it takes time to adapt to anything new.

I will tell you, I don't meal plan anymore. I just keep a good supply of deli meat, eggs, protein powder, atkins shakes, veggies, chick brst, and red meat on hand. The only real planning I do is to make my egg popovers on Sunday so I have a quick breakfast during the week. I do protein shakes, deli meat and hb eggs for snacks. I usually do salads or a sandwich on ez bread for lunch and dinner I just cook what my family usually eats, but i don't eat the starch.

Remember each week is a learning process and you learn what your triggers are and what you need to do to be successful. I'm in my 3rd round and I know I need to: exercise 5-6 days a week, drink my water, and eat every 3-3 1/2 hours otherwise I tend to hang around the kitchen and give into my cravings. Did I know this the first round through no, not all of it. But I didn't beat myself up about it either.

How much water are you drinking? That is so important, and today I have made it a point to drink my water. I put 32 ounces of water into a quart mason jar and started drinking it with a straw. I had it all gone before I knew it. I have had a second one and am working on my 3rd one.

Seriously, the water truly does help. There is nothing wrong with you my dear, we all just have our things and you will find a way to work through yours.

ALRIGHT EVERYONE COVER YOUR EYES - I KNOW YOU KNOW WHAT IS COMING BUT HERE IT GOES:

THE SCALE IS NOT YOUR FRIEND, DO NOT TRUST THE SCALE IT LIES!

Kim- Remember this is NOT a WEIGHT LOSS DIET it is a FAT LOSS DIET!

You are building muscle and losing fat so the scale will go up and down. Stay away from that scale and measure your progress by that pair of jeans you haven't worn in years, but have kept 'just in case' Take your measurements and you will see how your body is shrinking even though the scale is not moving. I weigh 146 at 5'2 and I'm fitting into 8s! You will be lean and toned from this WOE not Skinny and jiggly and you know what i'm talking about.

Stay away from that scale or I will put my VOODOO on it so it says you weigh 75 lbs!

Just sharing

Yesterday was my carb up day. I was so excited!!!. My DH and I had a function to attend and we had a promise of some cool appetizers and then dinner. And, but of course, WINE

Well, we got there, did the function "thingie", blah, blah, blah and went to the dining room. I can only compare it to a wedding when, right after you leave it, you start looking for a Burger King. We were so hungry! The only dream fulfilled was a glass of wine. The bartender had a loose wrist and even though I technically had just one glass, I know I had more than that as I practically had to hold that glass with two hands (it was HUGE).

On our way home DH didn't want to stop and eat anything (was coming down with something and, as luck would have it, it is in full bloom right now). I was going to sulk because I really, really wanted to take advantage of the carb up scenario and could not believe that another carb up was wasted. Then I had this bright idea - I said, I can have ICE CREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that was my carb up day. I had half a pint of ice cream and not an ounce of guilt. I have another pint in the fridge and have no desire to break into it.

Today was baseline. I did really well in the a.m. and then had to meet a friend for lunch. Lunch was late and we were set to eat around 2:30 PM. I got nearly postal because I was afraid that my meal was going to arrive after 3 PM and I had to get my starch in before then. I think my g/friend thought I was crazy today ("Must be the winds", I said ~~~ remember movie "Chocolat"?). Anyway, I had tuna and yams with some sauce on them. The sauce did me in - it was verrrrrrry sweet (I think I tasted banana). I did eat everything. I hope I didn't mess up too badly.

Here's the bottom line - I love my carb downs, baselines and carb-ups ON MY OWN when I am in control. I don't like to be out and be at the mercy of whatever and whomever. Pretty sad . The beaver might turn into a hermit. And that's all folks

P.S. Sorry to be so "wordie" tonight. Lack of human contact today

Love you all and wish you all a good night (I will stick around though)

Exactly! I am not even going to bother again with re-scheduling my carb ups. I know that when I do it myself it is going to be great. Why set yourself up for a disappointment, right?

I am a late owl as well. I don't know why I was going bunkers today (almost lost it ). I didn't have any wine with my late lunch (highly unusual) so I wonder if my friend will be saying, "I think she is pregnant"

You don't want marriage counseling from me. I started so young, 17, that most of the time we've just flown by the seat of our pants! It hasn't always been easy, but one piece of advice that my grandfather gave us that we have always stuck to is "Don't go to bed mad, you might not get it all worked out, but don't go to bed mad." We've always done that.

Don't weigh. I can't help it. I have to. Think of it as a sickness. I need a little encouragement. Carb Up Day is scaring me. . . .
Oh, girl, you do not fear the voodoo scale elders? You should! You are in for it now! They will definitely voodoo your scales! If you see Alissa or Kelley17's lights on, you'd better run!

No seriously, don't weigh until the end of the week you're in. I always weigh on a Monday. And one pound? That could be anything. That's why you do not weigh midweek. They might make you take your scales to the barn!

Dinner was roasted cauliflower and broccoli and a pork chop fixed with wheat germ and saute'd in olive oil.

It was really good. I know Wendy doesn't like the pork, but sometimes I make it to keep from getting bored.

I got all my water in today too! Yipee!

As for the oats I would go with the serving size on the package because steel cut oats are much more dense.
My grandchildren are my greatest joy in life! I'm blessed that I've always been able to spend a lot of time with them and they love their "Bama". I treasure the relationship I have with my daughter also...she knows she can always count on me to help out in a pinch (day or night) and I'm proud that she's such a special Mom herself. I think being a loving Mom and "Bama" are my greatest accomplishments. I have been blessed

I had my steel oats this morning with the pumpkin added (carb up day for me) and it was delicious!!

Great Job Jackie!!! I think Pork is good from time to tine...just not as a "Main" source of protein regularly!

May I ask where you get your Agvar nectar and how is it used? Not that I want to start nectar-gate...just curious and I have heard lots of you ladies mention it I trust your "food-sense" and love how your recipes sound so I'm betting that you have put that Agvar to good use
