week 5 Day 5

good morning Dede, Linda, Jackie and who ever else is up.
Congrats on you new house Alissa!
Jackie going to try your ideas today as it's time to go grocery shopping.
Julie if you make your cards up on word just save them and then email them to us.
Love the bonfire Kate, I have some pretty photos of ours in Galveston last winter.
New Years Resolutions? I think mine is to "let someone in", I've been alone for 3 years since my ex and thus the weight gain. Maybe it's time to move on, getting back to me will finish the healing.
I had people pulling me aside last night to ask was I losing weight. They didn't want to embarrass me but they also wanted to say I was looking great. My twins are starting to worry I might win our little bet. I also changed the reward. Loser wasnt' going to take us out to pig out, he was going to buy a new outfit for the winners.

I'm gonna go get breakfast but look in later.
Have a nice day everyone.

Hey Jackie, what a sweet thing to say You made my day I am, just like you, very much into the health stuff. I am so glad Wendy said yes to acai juice. I am slugging it down every morning (but carb down days). Maybe that's another reason why I feel so much energy (beaver on steroids )

Can't wait to go shopping today. I need those steel oats. I cooked my oats this morning and put too much salt Still made myself finish them. I usually go for EZ bread but then i thought I need to add some other "superfoods" into my diet

Jackie, congrats on your NSV!!!! You are always a cheerleader and an inspiration

Hey Vladis: Thank you. felt really good. So did the massage! The steel cut oats do have much more nutrition to them. Of course the old-fashioned oats have more nutrition than quick oats which has more than instant oats. I don't eat much of anything that is refined. We always go for the super nutritious!

I ordered Agave Nectar. I'm so glad Wendy said it is okay. That makes me so happy as I do not like to use artificial sweetners.

I'm sure the elders said you must exercise on carb up days in order to have your 2 SA meals. I do some kind of exercise every day. Every other day I go to the gym, the off days I do T-Tapp. It is amazing and you see results so quickly. No jumping around either! It is at Better Body Basics - T-Tapp.com She has some try before you buy links which I did before I bought her DVD's. That way I make sure I am doing some form of exercise every day. My friend, who is a bariatric physician, when I asked her how often should we exercise, said, "Do you eat every day?" So, that meant I needed to do some form of exercise every day! Feeling more and more like exercising every day that goes by!

Love your posts, Vladis. You're the best my friend!
I did check out the Better Body Basics - T-Tapp.com. But first, I have to go through my DVD's & old tapes to make sure I didn't already order it. I know I sold a bunch of old tapes on ebay a while ago. I've been doing the C25k, I may have to repeat this week before moving on to week 4. I'm doing that 3 - 4 times a week, plus twice a week on strength training. But I need to switch around my exercise plans. I used to use our bowflex three times a week and on the treadmill 5 times a week. My weight was stalled, my body was too used to the routine. Then, I fell off the wagon with exercise and my eating. tsk tsk

Jup – I’m with you on the artificial sweeteners. I don’t use them at all except for my Atkins shakes (average 4 a week). I use Jay Robb’s Whey protein all natural ingredients and stevia for the sweetness.
Jay Robb Whey Protein Ingredients:
All Natural Ingredients
Cold-processed cross-flow microfiltered whey protein isolate, natural flavor, xanthan gum, lecithin, stevia
Our ingredients contain No gluten, No msg, No casein, No artificial colors or flavors
When I do my fudgsicles I use the regular ones with sugar and it hasn’t hurt me. I do use reddi whip for my crepes though!
I don’t do the sweets too often though because I haven’t had the need for them.

I don’t know about you but I’m not having those cravings unless I’m not eating every 3-4 hours and getting my water in. I think this plan has made me stop and think about what I am putting in my body. I eat more veggies, and clean starches over all. Even on my Carb Up days I usually eat a homemade pasta or pizza and my wine as my carbs. When I do go for sweet I want something really good – homemade cookies or some really good dark chocolate. I think you can easily combine the principals you like from both plans. I am in total agreement about staying away from processed unhealthy foods and artificial sweeteners.

PS – love your signature!
Hi Gemini Linda, love your new signature line too!
Alissa – already congratulated you on the house – YOU are AWESOME and DESERVE the BEST!
Jackie – Hi, what’s for breakfast, lunch and dinner today????

I’m jealous of that massage and so happy for less neck fat!
Pam – So sorry for you loss. Children are such a blessing. We are so privileged to have these precious lives in our hands. Makes life so much more interesting.
Tam! – How are you? I’m sad for you because you are sad but happy you are dealing with your feelings in a more healthy way
RedHotBean Kim- Hi!

Renee – Hi, how are you? Hope all is well.

Sara – Hi, How are things? I still haven’t done my last run for week 6. Will probably do it tomorrow.
I can’t wait for New Year’s Eve I’m hoping to be at my goal by then. Will probably work on getting organized and out of debt! UGH!
Dede – Hi! Have a wonderful time with your friend!
Sherrie – Hi! You sound like my mom. She is so close to my oldest son. He has to call her to tell her everything. I had an accident where I got 2nd and some 3rd degree burns on my hands, forearms, chest and spots on my face when he was 3 months old. I had to go live with my mom for about a month while I healed and couldn’t touch my baby for risk of infection. It was horrible. I was in pain, an emotional wreck, and cried. Thank heavens for my mom.
As for the oats I would go with the serving size on the package because steel cut oats are much more dense.

Nanatoot Renee – Hi!
Kate – I know what you mean – I can’t believe it either! It does fly when you are having fun, and I’m having a blast getting leaner and gabbing with all of you. Love you siggy too! Too funny.

I’m an emotional eater, but have found I am now turning to you all and exercise instead of eating now. Love this board! Julie – Keep healing. I bet they just love having you in the classroom.

Conferences and parents – that is one of the reasons I love my job. I hardly have to do any of that. My students are short term 7 – 30 days. We just do what we can in that amount of time.
Vladis – HI! I say exercise any of the days. It can only help your efforts. Dancing Linda – HI!

Spydermonkey – Unless you really out did it for the few days (every meal) I would just continue on with your week, maybe do a carb down on Sunday and then continue on with your next week?

OMG, my dear, that's nothing. I see Kelley's light is on and she will tell you that you are OK. You sounded like you ate an entire carbo-cow

You are OK, my friend. Just get right back on track.

Do you have Atkins shakes? I'd say - pour one in a pretty festive glass, put on some cheerful music and sip that shake while you are baking. It is sweet and silky and I think that will help you thru (remember, "pretty festive glass" is a MUST)

Week 5 Day5

Goodmorning!Well had carb up day yesterday and I had some pasta with red sauce and a piece of bread and we were out playing pool and I had about 4 rum and diet cokes. I guess I was having a good time!! Well anyway of course I had to weigh this morning because I thought what did I do? But I lost another pound and I am in the 180's finally. Haven't been there for quite some time. So I have really been drinking water this morning to flush that toxic waste out of my body.
So my husband started this week and so far so good. I am very proud of him he is getting the hang of it now and drinking all his water. My sister has also joined this is her second week and she should be joining us here soon. I just gave her all the info this morning so be on the lookout for her. Don't know what name she'll use but her real name is Karla.
Hope everyone has a happy Friday!!

Exactly!! That was crazy but I had fun. I also played some poker and won. The only bad thing is that I had to get up and go to work. But suprisingly enough I don't feel bad. But I did drink 3 bottled waters last night also. Boy a lot of liquid huh?

Linda: On my foodblog, at this link, WHITE BEAN “tastes like a turkey burger” BURGER at Jackie Vetter’s Kitchen there is a recipe for a white bean "tastes like a turkey burger" burger recipe. In place of the white beans substitute a ground turkey patty. Also, in this recipe I mention spreading a jellied cranberry sauce on the inside of the bun. It is so delicious and I buy the organic jellied cranberry sauce from Whole Foods. If you do not have a whole foods around, let me know and I'll tell you how to make some from whole cranberries. It is a wonderful sandwich
!

Linda: How wonderful for you to get to this place. Life is so amazing. You have gotten into a space that allows you to understand what you are doing, how it no longer serves you, and now you are moving forward. I say, "Good for you, Girl!"

Wish I lived close to you so that I could take some "privies" from you! I have a dance issue. Every time I hear that song "I Hope You Dance", I bawl. I was not allowed to dance as a girl. It was against my parent's religion, now I am too self-conscious. Got to work on that. I'm going to start with taking some line dance lessons. I practice dancing by myself in front of my mirror and picture myself as a "Goddess of Dance"!

I understand, totally! I have so many DVD's that I've bought and used just a few times. I got to thinking the other day that if I used alternated using them on my gym off days, my body would never get used to my exercise routine! I think I'll try that!

I agree. I am now using organic, raw agave nectar to sweeten my things. I don't use the Reddi Whip because of the gases used in the container, but I do make my own using heavy whipping cream and now I'll use pure (not imitation) vanilla and agave nectar for sweetening. I have been remiss in posting my menus on the menu thread, so that helps keep me accountable. I'll do that from now on. You are right, as long as I'm following the rules, I do not have the cravings. If I deviate from them, I do.

I too am an emotional eater, but having you all has made that part easier. I just remember that you hold me accountable! I've never really had anyone to do that before.

What a great idea! I have beautiful glasses I could use!

Good for you. Just move forward...don't look back! Maybe you won't need 4 the next time!

this was sent to me and I wanted to share. It reminded me of us! working together to reach our goals. Support is crucial. Reminding each other we're human but we choose our direction and for us all it's forward....

Jackie thanks I'll run by whole foods and pick up the cranberry sauce and have book marked your site.
Dancing is the greatest joy! People come to the studio for so many different reasons and most never leave. I couldn't imagine a life without dancing! When we all meet I'll teach you all what ever you want to learn. A great DVD that is fun too is called Zumba! Very arobic and you get to be a latin dancer too!
My students are scattered all over the world and we keep in touch. They get to Houston they do privates and we catch up. Two live in Brooklyn and invited me to visit on my birhtday 2 years ago and I fell in love with NY. I saw all the sites in a week. We were on go but a time I'll never forget.
A weeks vacation when we all meet our goals somewhere in the middle is a must. Who has the most room? Think about it.

Linda - I love dancing too and have been very intrigued by the Zumba informercials. In fact a few weeks back we had a conversation on ZUMBA. I think I will be asking for the DVDs for Christmas.

Yeah, Connie was going to bring the wine from wine country Napa Valley! YUM!

You bring the dance, I'll make the food, Ken will give massages.....what a week!

P.S. I made the one-minute muffin for my snack just now. I used 2 Tablespoons ground flax, 1/2 tsp ginger, 1/4 tsp baking powder, pinch of salt, 1 egg. The ginger made it really good, kind of different, but I forgot to add the agave nectar so it wasn't very sweet. I'll try that next time.

This one wasn't as "wet" as the pumpkin one. Using some agave nectar will help it to not be as dry.
