I think I've made a miracle happen. DH has decided to start this WOE on Monday! I never thought it would happen! I am a little worried because Thanksgiving is in 2 weeks. I know my dh will not be able to pass up my mom's cheesecake, so I'm not sure what to do (since he shouldn't have sweets before day 21). Should he just start after Thanksgiving, or start now, eat on Thanksgiving, then see how the cravings are afterwards? He's not a real sweets person, so I am hoping it won't matter much

Why put it off?? Encouraging good/better eating habits is always a great thing no matter when! I say to capitalize on his desire to join at this moment...take tomorrow (or two weeks from now) as it happens!!

Just my humble opinion

Hi Ladies!!

I am off to get the kiddies to school (except youngest...) and then hit the gym. Sitter is on her way pver to give me a needed break and trip to the gym. My body is in shock from my lack of exercise this week (relative to my typical week)...I am anxious to get back to business!!! Happy Day to you all!! More later...

Muffingate I love it!

So glad you are back. I think he should start now and get week 1 over before the holiday. And do a cheat day on thanksgiving. Carb deplete day on Wed and then anything goes on Thurs and pick up week 2 from there. Remember avoiding sweets the first 21 days is a suggestion not a MUST! Plus I bet you will both me more in control for the holiday if you are doing it together

Deb~~

I get mine in my local health food store. I imagine you could get it in any grocery store (I hope).

Frankly, I don't know what's so special about these 1-min muffins. Either I don't make them right or i just don't get them - they taste BLAH to me... Great source of fiber though....

I am fine in a room full of 5 year olds, but I am about in a panic about having to talk to 4 adults. I always feel like everyone else is smarter than me.

Please keep me in your thoughts that the interview will be over quickly and I won't make a fool of myself by not being able to answer their questions intelligently. Well going to bed to read and try to relax. Have a great evening.

Renee, sure hope your interview went well. You are plenty smart, don't cut yourself short. And I'd say you're pretty deserving of that title too...for the entire state! Good luck to you!

I'm very excited...I bought two of the Callenetics dvd's....one is the evolution and one is 10 in 10....will start them tomorrow. Tonight I'll have between 20 and 25 17 year old girls in my house....grand daughter is having a "girl's night out" and they are coming to spend the night....love it....and since she's a senior, it will likely be her last one. (the kids don't have school today or tomorrow) Then grandson and his friend are staying tomorrow night...but there will only be two of them! And they keep my husband busy shooting goals (hockey) at him...if it's warm enough outside and not raining...

I'm on my 6th week and it's going pretty well. I have to say I did horrible two different meals on different days, and all last week-end, but I really don't feel any quilt. I'm going to weigh myself at the end of 8 weeks and see how I've done. If I've lost 10 pounds, I'll be happy...and will know to get better results by not eating no bake cookies and going off for an entire week-end. I also like the baseline days.....not too many carbs that I feel bloated but enough I'm excited...today I'm having rice with my chicken....looking forward to it! I love this board....so glad you all are here!

I got mine at Super Wal Mart, but I can't remember which aisle. Probably the baking aisle.

I just had my first one, and it was awesome! But that's probably because I am so sick of scrambled eggs that I want to ! Thank you all who came up with the idea and who posted the recipes. I REALLY needed a change!

New to this WOE...

Hi everyone,

I have been reading your post for the past week and they have been very inspiring. I started Cycle 1 this past Monday (11/10). Although I had a really bad headache for the first three days I have stuck to the program, and I'm happy to report today I'm really feeling great! I guess the "shift" is happening.

Anyway, thought I'd post and hopefully get to know all of you. Again thanks for getting me through these last few days! I can't wait to report on 11/17 my week 1 results.

Congrats to all of you on your success!
I am happy to report that as I near the end of 2 complete cycles I have now lost a total of 27.6 lbs. I just can't believe it!
This is the easiest plan ever!
Keep up the good work everyone!

Thanks for the link - very interesting! I wish we could have those Goji berries..they sound yummy. I'm a huge cranberry fan so I drink this sugarfree cranberry drink to get my fix (generic crystal light from Walmart). DD loves Dragontales where they are always talking about dragon berries- maybe I'll convince her cranberries are dragon berries

Oh, and what is this muffin scandal? Can someone point me to the page it's on, I am very curious
Great for carb down or anytime! A protein and a good fat!!!

I still haven't figured out how this muffin business turned into a scandal. (Reminds me of my "mommy troubles" that are still going on a month later....never could figure out how it escalated....)

Maybe she will check these boards and get some good ideas from us gals...especially a Val type menu layout. It would be great if we could download blank menu planners from her site so each week we could slap it on the fridge and fill it out ahead of time (better meal planning), or at least fill it out as we go. I was thinking about designing a magnetic menu system with a dry erase surface for myself that would help keep me organized and on track.
Great idea, and at that point it'll turn commercial, and start costing a pretty penny! That's how it is with other sites- in the beginning they're "doing you a favor", and then they start charging for everything.

As for 2 shakes a day... I'm having my issues with that. I've had this headache since before my TOM- 1.5 weeks now.... and I think it may be a buildup of the sweetener in my system. I have the sweeteners in 2 shakes a day, my muffin (Love that muffin!!), and my carb free dark chocolate (I count that as a good fat), and an occasional SF popsicle. No other explanation. I thought it was because I go to sleep hungry, but last night I was NOT hungry- carbed up seriously in the evening... sweet stuff at those weddings and bar-mitzvah...., and it's been aching the whole day, every day...kind of PMSing without the M
I'll try to skip the second one today- and have salad and cottage cheese instead....
Any feedback?

Wildcat – Hi – missed you! just a couple pages back my friend is the saga of the muffin scandal. I’m keeping mum about muffins from now on, crazy thing is I was just trying to be helpful to remind everyone where they should post their great recipes, exercise, and menus so they would be easier to find. Didn't mean to offend anyone.
Funny you should ask- It's been a rough week here and it's totally off topic, but on top of my being "emotionally frail" lately over this mommy issue I can't talk about, and other stuff that's going on over here, I lost an aunt and uncle this week- it's a long story- they were married at least 60yrs- I have to ask my mom... my aunt died Monday morning at home all alone at 83, sad story... and her DH was at an old age home, as he needed dialysis and could not do it while living at home (stairs, travelling, etc. The old age home took care of the transportation, etc...). He's been very frail lately so they decided not to tell him she died. He took a turn for the worst yesterday morning, was hospitalized on life support, awakened crying last night (Drs. said his awakening was miraculous), and died this morning. I , and others from the family, am convinced that he sensed something... or his soul did....
It was the saddest funeral (we have the funeral the day of the passing) - their grandaughter who got married last night was there with her groom, a grandson who's bar mitzvah was supposed to be on Monday and was postponed. Children, and grandchildren losing both parents/grandparents the within 3 days of each other...
Whatever... I feel like crying my heart out....

I love yoga! I used to take classes several times a week and then stopped (lazy). This time around I thought to start taking classes again but then decided to do it at home - I have SUPER tapes. I had a great teacher back then (he studies in India for 20 years) and he is pretty hard to replace (don't know what happened to him, moved maybe?). I tried a few other classes and was disappointed - teachers seemed to be freshly certified, no zing. No personal attention there either so I decided to take video classes from the MASTERS

Berries... I don't know if you saw my post re acai berry. I have been taking that juice every morning now and I seem to behave like beaver on steroids - A LOT of energy. I cleared it with Wendy - can have that juice on all days but carb down. One can have up to 3 oz (no more) a day. Mine has 10 cal per serving (1 oz), 3 g of carbs (1 of those sugar). Nothing artificial in it - all natural (at least if you believe the label). Great stuff.

Arcoss the ocean - Hugs to sweet Tam!
Great for carb down or anytime! A protein and a good fat!!!I still haven't figured out how this muffin business turned into a scandal. (Reminds me of my "mommy troubles" that are still going on a month later....never could figure out how it escalated....)
Now you know
As for 2 shakes a day...
Tam, I suffer from frequent and really bad migraines so I decided to use as little of those artificial sweeteners as possible (even Atkins shakes). I blend my own now and use unsweetened tea, squeeze some lemon, a few drops of some extract and stevia (maybe). I have Atkins shakes only when I am on the road and that's my "emergency" snack (or hard-boiled eggs).
Oh, my... you made me cry ... it's been a hard week here and I'm trying to prop myself and everyone else up , and not allowing myself to get down, even though I'm walking around on the verge of tears all the time... and feeling guilty for not cheering everyone else up!
I hope that beaver made you laugh as well . Don't feel guilty - you;ve been cheering everybody up and telling us cool stories all the time. It just might be YOUR time to be consoled and hugged, and babied. There, there
You did nothing wrong- this is crazy. Or did I miss something....??? Is this what the muffin scandal is? Are you the one that asked for the recipe? Am I going senile??????
Nope, that was the beginning of the Muffingate Leesa, we should be thanking you - c'mon that's great stuff. We can all laugh now. Plus the recipe is now readily available at least on two siggy lines - Kellycarbaddict and mine
Funny you should ask- It's been a rough week here and it's totally off topic, but on top of my being "emotionally frail" lately over this mommy issue I can't talk about, and other stuff that's going on over here, I lost an aunt and uncle this week
I believe he must have felt something on some spiritual level. However sad, it is beautiful. Tam, you are really having it rough this week

Quote:
Aw.... I am so flattered!!
Yeh, except I called you "tan" . Sorrrry, my bad, TAM

Vladis you crack me up. Sienna is my granddaughter. That is her when she went with Sarena to Gettysburg on vacation, in her prairie bonnet. Sarena is my only child.

Sometimes Sienna is up early and I have to share my breakfast with her, i.e. oatmeal or eggs. It has crossed my mind that I will be hungry earlier because I did not get a full serving of my meal. But she is so cute that I don't mind.

Alissa how exciting about the house. I hope you have been packing?

Kelley glad Carli is better.

Congratulations to all the successes on the board with inch and weight loss.

Hey, Vladis,
Thanks for the strokes and consolations, and sage advice.
Only problem is, I can't find protein powder without sweetener!!!
I also get migraines. This is something different- a persistent forehead headache- the kind I get b4 TOM...
I'll try to cut down on the shakes- but I just got my strawberry flavor replenished, yum! I also need it for the protein- I'm already eating 2 eggs every morning in my muffin.

Thanks again...

Berries... I don't know if you saw my post re acai berry.
It is soooo beneficial to eat one the night before weighing. Glad I'm not the only one.

I take the orgainic acai berry freeze dried capsule. That could be part of the reason I have more energy too.

Darn it! It's too bad. I found ONE - it's Whey to Go. It's only whey protein and they specifically say on the label that there are no artificial sweeteners. I buy it in my local health food store. Do you think you might have these one around where you are? It is very tasty...

I suffer from Migraines as well. I've been on many preventative meds (Topamax, Depakote, Pamelor, etc). My neurologist never could find anything that worked for me. The funny thing is, my cardiologist did! I went to him because I have a rapid heart rate (due to anxiety) and he put me on Toprol. It was amazing. I went over 4 weeks without a headache! I stopped taking it because I just don't like to take pills. Anyway, the point of my story is 5-htp. I know I promised not to talk about it again, but maybe this can help someone. Wendy told me about 5-htp for my sugar cravings, but it also took away my headaches! 5-htp helps with serotonin levels. Here's an article:

5HTP Benefits

I don't mind taking it because it's natural, it's the prescription meds I don't like taking!

Kelley, you are a queen!! I have personally enjoyed the lack of drama and the wealth of warmth humor and support. I made my way thru quitting smoking with an internet support group, and we could be a grouchy, easily offended bunch!!
(and only imagine real life AA meetings! I pick my meetings very specifically for Lack of Drama, its not God's way IMHO)

Hi Ladies
Thank you for the help on where to find ground flaxseed. I'm going to try and get some today! I think I had 'burnout' because I didn't mix it up at all and only followed Wendy's menus. Not this time! When I get a few minutes, I'm going to get on the recipe link and get some good ideas! BTW since I started on Monday I'm down 4.3 of the 7.5lbs I was up. Yay, me! I can't wait until my current classes are over so I can spend more time with you all! Showed DH and DS the picts. of 5lbs fat vs 5lbs muscle, and they were shocked! Fat sure is gross!! Can't wait to have a lot less of it!!
