I haven't read through the posts yet, but just happened upon this while reading another article and HAD to post it. I've been feeling so negative this last week (PMS didn't help - God bless you women who understand and tolerate me like that!) and my husband keeps telling me I need to think differently. I've been having a pity party and basically told him to stuff it although I know he's right.

Anyway, here is one thing from the article and a link to it:

Bad thought: "I'll never be able to lose all this weight."
Better thought: "I’m not feeling very hopeful right now but this is just a thought and it doesn’t mean I truly can’t lose weight. I know that diet and exercise won’t allow me to shed these pounds overnight, so I need to set reasonable, achievable goals — and stay the course.”

Good morning peeps! Time to put on my Science of Success or something on my ipod

Dear Renee What a great honor and I am so thrilled for you. My Mom used to be a teacher, then a school principal and then a superintendent. I taught for 3 years myself (big kids, mostly). I know what you are talking about. You should be so, so, so proud of yourself. It's not easy to teach these days (mostly due to parents and not kids). I will be thinking about you and sending you a gazillion supportive and warm thoughts. Go get'em!!!

Julie, you are very welcome. I am very much into all this stuff. I also subscribe to a SELF magazine and I just saw there an article that I will post about a bit later. Maybe I can find an on-line version of it. Verry interesting (speaks about other extremely beneficial foods). It makes me happy to realize that we, ladies, are on the right track with the right equipment. Hurray!!!

Kelly, I saw that our "elders" spoke and I was happy to see that they said what I was going to say - just climb right back on the wagon. I am sure that even though you weren't eating what you had to eat according to the plan on those days, you still were mindful of what you ate. I am absolutely sure of that. I don;t think we'll ever go back to "normal abnormal" way of eating. So, stop beating yourself up, pet your pretty head and feel all our love, hugs and support and just go into another day.

Alissa, congrats! I had a feeling those people might come back. Even though people think it's a buyers' market it is not quite that straightforward. Due to the mortgage crisis, it is very difficult for some buyers to get financing. You are a golden buyer at this moment because YOUR'VE GOT THE MONEY!!!! They'd be foolish to let you go. Good for you, lady!

You know Julie, I love your idea and that's what I am going to do. I was also thinking to make those menus on index cards (very old-fashioned) - separate breakfast/snack; lunch/snack and dinner/snack and then you can use and re-use them and combine them any which way (like a puzzle). I LOVE your way!!!

Maybe she will check these boards and get some good ideas from us gals...especially a Val type menu layout. It would be great if we could download blank menu planners from her site so each week we could slap it on the fridge and fill it out ahead of time (better meal planning), or at least fill it out as we go. I was thinking about designing a magnetic menu system with a dry erase surface for myself that would help keep me organized and on track.
Full of wonderful suggestions!

Pam!
The bad thinking is so much shorter . I personally think that no matter how hard we try to be cheerful ALL THE TIME it is just not realistic. We are all prone to ups and downs and it's OK as long as we can snap out of it. You are not a machine. You are allowed to feel badly, to doubt and to struggle. Put it behind you and smile that bright smile of yours and keep on going.

By the way, did you see another beaver clip I posted. It contains a very important CTFLC info. Please make sure to watch and it will cure your blues PRONTO

Seriously, we are here for you and I am here for you

Julie – Full of great ideas. How are you doing?

Kate – Hi!

Wildcat – Hi – missed you! just a couple pages back my friend is the saga of the muffin scandal. I’m keeping mum about muffins from now on, crazy thing is I was just trying to be helpful to remind everyone where they should post their great recipes, exercise, and menus so they would be easier to find. Didn't mean to offend anyone.

Dede – Hi! I love the wheat germ chicken so yummy be sure to get cutlets or pound the chicken otherwise the darn wheat germ burns before the chicken is done!

Kellie – WOW! Great Job. Keep cracking, pulsing and running!

Pam – Hi! Keep those positive VIBES

Vladis – My kids and I spent 30 mins watching clips on you tube thanks to your beaver short! Great job with the advice. You are now an elder yourself. Love the signature line idea. You are so right that Beaver Clip is very important to our WOE and to lighten things up. When in doubt laugh! Carli is much better thanks. Have a great one and keep up with those crazy videos!

Sherrie – Hi, have a wonderful day.

I am sure I am speaking for everybody - no hard feelings (not that there ever were any)! Don't worry - we are a very easygoing and loving bunch. It was just funny - you have no idea how many times this darn muffin came up. I am proposing we all put the recipe in our siggy.

P.S. When I was carb depleting I almost bit my DH's head off when he tried to eat a tiny piece of my carefully measured grilled salmon

Leesa, No problem I was just worried because I know your computer is stuck on all caps but with the exclamation points I knew you were upset. I really wasn't directing my comment at you and I'm sorry you took it personally. Don't worry about we all have moments like that. I was surprised because like you said, it wasn't at all like you (from your previous posts).

I put it in because many people have been asking for things and earlier on we made the other threads to help organize everything, so when you are craving that CRAZY MINUTE MUFFIN you know where to find it. I'm very sorry I upset you and hope it doesn't keep you from asking more questions and feeling comfortable to join this thread and others!

Ladies! The glycogen stores you PURGE in week 1 are very unhealthy stores. Sweets, fats, toxic stuff. As we "rebuild" most of the glycogen stores, we are rebuilding the stores with BETTER stuff! Think of the "contents" of a ziplock baggie. It can be filled with loads of Marshmallow fluff (sugar and fat weighing 10 pounds) OR a lesser, smaller, denser amount of GOOD carbs and lean proteins (weighing 4 pounds and taking up MUCH less space). HUGE DIFFERENCE Insert Kelley's fat versus protein pic here...I would if I could but she has not shared that *secret* with me yet
Thank you for the hugs mixed with the appropriate amount of a$$ chewing and teaching You're so good for us! I hope you get your first choice house!!

Beautiful little girl! I so love children. If it paid better I'd likely work in a daycare. It's so fun, hard, but fun being with them. Instead I work with attorneys. It's similar.

My daughter is on day 4 of week 1. She said this morning she thinks she'll puke if she sees another egg or salad. Just a little more!! I gave her a protein shake to help get her chocolate fix.

I am having a pretty darn good day - a LOT of energy. I mean, I know myself and I am days from TOM and I should be totally wiped out BUT ....I have a LOT of energy.

When I started the program I could barely do my stationary bike (15-20 min on NO level - just pedaling). Today I did 30 min and 30 min later in the day - 12 miles altogether (albeit on level 1).

I had two carb downs and tomorrow is my carb up. I am actually liking my carb downs and baseline days much better - less stress. We are going to a function tomorrow so God only knows what we'll be eating .

OK, glad everybody's having fun. Just wanted to say howdy and let you know that I don't complain ALL the time.
It's almost spooky how close we are in sync with one another. Ups, downs and all! I LOVED the Beaver video! That was HILARIOUS! I will have to show it to my little one tonight...she loved the last one you posted. She's also addicted to this little chicken called sweetie chick on YouTube. I can't get it out of my head - "I may be small, I may look sweet, but baby, I know how to move my feet...HIT IT!" She even has a poofy stuffed chicken that looks very similar that I dance around while I sing it for her.

Oh, and I sent that link to my husband also about the MSN thing...this was his reply, which sounded much like yours You guys are so sweet.

) it's OK to feel down about yourself or have a bad day, but if you don't get back up, that's when you fail. And, anytime you say you can't do something, can't handle something, or just can't do it anymore, I almost want to laugh, because you are the strongest person I know, and I know that no matter what it is, you actually can.

Well, enjoy some piece and quiet.
Muffingate has ended.
We need other people to do this as well - so that the darn recipe is always on board.

Kelley,

a serious post from me (for a change )

It's my carb up day. Do I exercise today? I know that we definitely need to do something on carb downs and on baseline days but how about carb up?

I can't get it out of my head - "I may be small, I may look sweet, but baby, I know how to move my feet...HIT IT!" She even has a poofy stuffed chicken that looks very similar that I dance around while I sing it for her.

Oh, and I sent that link to my husband also about the MSN thing...this was his reply, which sounded much like yours You guys are so sweet.

And, anytime you say you can't do something, can't handle something, or just can't do it anymore, I almost want to laugh, because you are the strongest person I know, and I know that no matter what it is, you actually can.
Pam, your husband sounds like a very, very good, encouraging and sensitive man. Based on what little I know about you from your posts, you've been thru a lot and you are definitely a very strong person. Hang in there (steel grip only ). I am with you

Hey, Pam, need a 1-minute muffin recipe - please see my siggy. 1 minute muffing express - At your service....

20 Superfoods for Weight Loss

This article was in August issue of Self magazine (I subscribe and would highly recommend it - A LOT of really cool info). First I was going to re-type in (nut that I am) and then my DH (smart a$$) told me that apparently we have something called "Internet" (Al Gore invented it, in case you didn't know). I went on line and found the article with all the details and pretty pics. Enjoy!!!

20 superfoods for weight loss: Food & Diet: self.com

P.S. It is amazing how much in sync Wendy and all of us are with this

I usually exercise on my carb up day so I can enjoy guilt free. Plus we have had the debate about does exercise mean regular exercise or exercise on carb up day to get your 2 meals after 3. I say if you exercise at least 5 days a week it doesn't really matter if you exercise on carb up day, but others feel you must exercise on carb up day to enjoy. Go with your gut. Sorry not much help.

This IS much help. For some reason I had it in my head that I shouldn't exercise on carb-up I have no idea where I got it.

I remember reading in the book about the "periodization" of exercise. Maybe today I will do yoga..

BTW, I can't thank you enough for reminding me about callanetics. I enjoy it so, so much!!!

Thanks for clearing that up. Sorry if I brought up a sore subject again , I haven't been online all week! I've missed you all! I wish I could keep up!

I think I've made a miracle happen. DH has decided to start this WOE on Monday! I never thought it would happen! I am a little worried because Thanksgiving is in 2 weeks. I know my dh will not be able to pass up my mom's cheesecake, so I'm not sure what to do (since he shouldn't have sweets before day 21). Should he just start after Thanksgiving, or start now, eat on Thanksgiving, then see how the cravings are afterwards? He's not a real sweets person, so I am hoping it won't matter much
