I don't like those calculations Kelley. According to mine I need 1532.70 calories to maintain my weight. That does not seem like a lot. I do plan on starting a strength training routine similar to Alissa's on the days I do not run. I hope that helps.

Hi ladies,

Had my second carb up day today. It was OK. I really like baseline days. I am down a bit in weight this week. I have been lifting weights, but haven't gotten completely back into my cardio routine yet.

I am really stressed out right now. I was voted Teacher of the year at my school and tomorrow is the interview for the system TOTY. I am so nervous. I really just want it to be over. I am fine in a room full of 5 year olds, but I am about in a panic about having to talk to 4 adults. I always feel like everyone else is smarter than me.

Please keep me in your thoughts that the interview will be over quickly and I won't make a fool of myself by not being able to answer their questions intelligently. Well going to bed to read and try to relax. Have a great evening.

Guess what? My mom gave me a microwave and now I can have 1 minute muffins. Ken's not too happy about it, but hey, I told him, "I want a 1 minute muffin!"

Two large portabella mushrooms
2 boneless skinless chicken breast
4 slices turkey bacon
1 oz sliced muenster cheese (for each person)
pepper
spicy curry powder
onion powder
garlic powder
whatever spices you want

broiled chicken with spices and at the same time in another dish spray baking dish with pam then put the 4 slices of bacon and put the two portabella mushrooms on top of the bacon and sprinkle some spices on mushroom.(my mushrooms were about 4 1/2 to 5 inches wide). Put aluminum foil over and bake until mushroom is cooked about 20 min at 400.
Then put the chicken on top of mushrooms then the bacon and put the cheese on top and place in broiler for 30 sec or so. I served with salad. They were very tasty. Kim
Sounds wonderful. Make sure you put it in the recipe thread.

Tam~~you just reminded me I have one banana left. So, I'm going to add it to my protein shake too.

Someone mentioned the Steel Cut Oats. I love them. Had them today, with a scoop of Vanilla protein powder and a heaping tbl of pumpkin. And here I am typing away, watching the Today Show and they are showing these awesome homemade cakes. I have to say the thought of all that sugar makes me feel icky. It's going to rain here later so I have to get off here and finish bagging up the leaves in my back yard.

Oh, the pumpkin in the steel cut oats sounds yummy (with some cinnamon)....gonna have to try that!!

I was pretty beat the first week but now that I'm eating a few carbs I have a lot more energy, even on Carb down days. So to those of you who are just starting out, hang in there!

I have a quick question, if anyone knows the answers it would be much appreciated

I read in the FAQ's here that we can have whipping cream or half n' half with our coffee and sweetener. I also saw in the book that coffee is considered a Free Food, which we can have it as a compliment to our meals but not in place of a meal. Are we allowed to have coffee/tea and a little half and half between meals?

Thanks so much!
Hi KK
I'm doing week 2 also...sorry, can't answer your question though cause I drink my coffee black. Great support group here...glad to have you join us.

I only buy wild caught. It's a little more expensive, but it's just my preference. Thanks for the article links, Vlad. It was interesting reading about the top 10 foods.

Thanks, Alissa, now Hewie is singing in my head, too!!! I listened to my "Sport" Hewey Lewis CD constantly while making the window in my avatar! It's nice to know I'm not the only dork. Good luck on house #2. As you know, everything happens for a reason and sometimes the reason reveals itself a little later than we expect!

I so love baseline days. Carb up days no longer have the charge for me, but that just might be because I didn't have my favorite bottle of wine sitting in there on the shelf today!

Seriously, I am going to do some serious planning for my next carb up day which is Saturday. Doing the baseline day tomorrow. Gotta make something I can take a picture of for Alissa and Kelley! I love to make Kelley drool!

I'm glad you made it, because you'll come up with a bunch of creative things to do with it. It is a great snack. I'm going to make the flax one tomorrow and toast it like dede suggested.

Renee – like how you did up the rules for the different days. Good luck with your interview!

Kelley17– sorry to hear about the major ear infection but glad they are giving her stronger antibiotics; hope she gets better soon! Thanks for the bmr calculator. Without even knowing it, I am eating right on track for most days.

Alissa – sorry the first house didn’t work out but God will lead you to the right one for you. Too bad Megs isn’t feeling good, sort of funny, buy my Megs is getting a bad cold and I told her she is working too many hours. Did you know the fumes from vomit can cause hallucinations??? (NOT). Not sure why you are nutso, maybe you spend too much time on this board!!!

Sara– OH MY GOSH! She is sooooo cute!

Dede– I lost 3 lbs in week 8 of maintenance. Boy was I surprised. I thought in maintenance that I wouldn’t lose weight because I was maintaining but not the case (for me anyway – everyone will be different I suppose). Thanks for the toasting the minute muffin idea, never thought of that, I bet it is good.

Kellycarbaddict – I LOVE the minute muffin. I see that some of the recipes posted have baking powder but I don’t use it and it still raises up like a muffin. I have it almost every day and it is like a dessert for breakfast!

Hi everyone! Where is this one minute muffin recipe I've been hearing about? Is it ok for carb down? I found dede's recipe for 2 minute pumpkin muffins. Can't wait to try it! But I want to know what the 1 minute muffin is all about too!

WOE: Crack the fat-loss code
Start Date: September 8th, 2008
the one i use is a bit different than some posted but it is one egg (beaten), cinnamon, a bit of splenda and 2T of faxseed. I mix it all in a coffee mug and put in the microwave for 1 minute. I then pour 1/2 and 1/2 over it (1oz) and eat it hot. it reminds me of bread pudding and since it is a bit sweeter, it is a real treat. some people add baking powder or pumpkin so i guess my recipe is just a basic one.

1/4 c ground flaxseed
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 packet of splenda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 whole egg
1 tblsp butter

microwave 1 min.

tweak it anyway you want. Enjoy!

The one minute recipe again!

I made the pumpkin one this afternoon with a squirt of reddiwhip.... the half and half sounds even better.
