Seriously, you can toast them? Right out of the microwave, or do you wait?

misunderstandings

Okay. I just wanted to say one thing then I'll move on. The thing about posting messages, emails etc.on this amazing thing we call the internet is,that it is a poor substitution for real face to face converstion. When you actually talk to someone, you can hear all the little intonations in a person's voice that you cannot do reading printed words. Consequently there can be misunderstandings. Anyway,I just wanted to say that in case anyone was offended on this thread. My name is dede and I have approved this message!

The chocolate waffles are a definite no no for week 1 but there is a debate about the minute muffins. If you do them make sure to do the plain ones and not the ones with pumpkin in them! they are made from flax.

1/4 c ground flaxseed
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 packet of splenda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 whole egg
1 tblsp butter

microwave 1 min.

tweak it anyway you want. Enjoy!

Linda, I count my muffin as a protein serving (for the egg) and an "A" fat serving (for the 2T milled flax seed). If I use pumpkin, I count that as a veggie serving.

EATING TO YOUR BMR

Hi guys, I found the calculator to use to find out how much you need to eat according to your BMR:
BMR Calculator
BMR:Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the amount of energy expended while at rest in a neutrally temperate environment, in the post-absorptive state (meaning that the digestive system is inactive, which requires about twelve hours of fasting in humans). The release of energy in this state is sufficient only for the functioning of the vital organs, such as the heart, lungs, brain and the rest of the nervous system, liver, kidneys, sex organs, muscles and skin. BMR decreases with age and with the loss of lean body mass. Increased cardiovascular exercise and muscle mass can increase BMR. Illness, previously consumed food and beverages, environmental temperature, and stress levels can affect one's overall energy expenditure, and can affect one's BMR.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? BMR is the minimum amount of calories your body needs to function while at COMPLETE REST.

There is an additional calculation we will use as well called your Harris Benedict Calculation. This calculation takes into account additional calories burned through activity.

So whats the challenge? Eating to your BMR as a bare minimum every single day. This means NEVER having a day where you eat below your BMR calorie requirements.

The second calculation (the HB should be used to take into account the upper range of calories). Here is the link to the HB equation:

Howdy everybody! Wow! The one minute MUFFIN controversy

Hope all of you and your kids are doing well
I am having a pretty darn good day - a LOT of energy. I mean, I know myself and I am days from TOM and I should be totally wiped out BUT ....I have a LOT of energy.

When I started the program I could barely do my stationary bike (15-20 min on NO level - just pedaling). Today I did 30 min and 30 min later in the day - 12 miles altogether (albeit on level 1).

I had two carb downs and tomorrow is my carb up. I am actually liking my carb downs and baseline days much better - less stress. We are going to a function tomorrow so God only knows what we'll be eating .

OK, glad everybody's having fun. Just wanted to say howdy and let you know that I don't complain ALL the time.

to all!

Thank you, ladies, my dear mentors!
I love the fact that I am "in the groove" again. I used to work out 5-6 days a week and felt great. Then, of course, life (or laziness) got in the way and everything went south. No more!

Hi Vladis,

I feel the same way about C and B days too. Kelley's going to tell you NO Guilt about your function tomorrow. Fantastic about the stationary bike. I have one that I need to dust off and maybe use in between the days I'm not on the treadmill. I don't think any of us complain on here.

Thanks, Linda! I plan on enjoying myself. There will be hors-d'oeuvres at first and then a sit-down dinner. I am sure there will be wine. I will give in tomorrow and then no wine for me my next carb up on Sunday. I read somewhere that you can have wine only on one of the carb-ups, isn't it right?

My bike was also pretty dusty. I had to have it a few years back and my DH kept asking me why exactly did we have to buy it if nobody was using it I used to say, "To hang clothes". I enjoy it now VERY MUCH. I read, I listen to my books on my iPod - it's great!!!
