Well I weighed in this morning and I have lost 4 lbs. I lost 7lbs in week1 then nothing in week 2,3,4 and now two days into week 5. So I am happy. People are noticing that I am losing weight so I am happy. My husband is Week 1 Day 3 and so far so good. I am really proud of him. He hasn't complained too much. I am on day 3 of carb down. I had to do three so that my carb up would fall on Thursday. It hasn't been bad at all.

Also I made up a new recipe last night because I am trying to make something different everyday for my husband so he doesn't give up. I ate the same thing everyday on my week 1 it didn't matter. Ok here it is:

Stuffed Portabella

Two large portabella mushrooms
2 boneless skinless chicken breast
4 slices turkey bacon
1 oz sliced muenster cheese (for each person)
pepper
spicy curry powder
onion powder
garlic powder
whatever spices you want

broiled chicken with spices and at the same time in another dish spray baking dish with pam then put the 4 slices of bacon and put the two portabella mushrooms on top of the bacon and sprinkle some spices on mushroom.(my mushrooms were about 4 1/2 to 5 inches wide). Put aluminum foil over and bake until mushroom is cooked about 20 min at 400.
Then put the chicken on top of mushrooms then the bacon and put the cheese on top and place in broiler for 30 sec or so. I served with salad. They were very tasty.

Kim

Wow, yum!!

It is confusing, isn't it? All of us old timers had to learn together in the beginning. See if this helps:

Baseline days - 2 "S" servings before 3 pm

Carb Down days - 1 "S" serving before 3 pm

Carb Up days - 1 "S" serving before 3pm, followed by 2 "SA" servings after 3 at you 2 last meals of the day.

High Carb day -(weeks 7 &8) 3 "S" servings during the course of the day - no time rule.

Cheat Day - (weeks 7 &8) eat what you want when you want - YAY!

Make sure to read the notes on each suggested menu day. Baseline days you can have "FF" foods at the end of the day. On maintenance cycle you can have fruit. On carb up days, be sure you excercise or else you can only have 1 "SA" meal after 3. You'll get the hang of this soon enough, I promise

What about snacks how much protein there.
Carb up days your carbs out weigh you protein (last two meals )
Am I getting this right.
I eat the majority of my protein at a "meal", breakfast lunch and dinner. Breakfast for me usually has an egg or protein powder as my protein, lunch and dinner I usually have 4oz chicken breast or a piece of fish. My snacks are almost always a serving of cottage cheese, or a minute muffin, or a protein shake, or a few slices of turkey breast rolled up in some green leaf lettuce. Too much protein is as bad as anything else in excess. If your body doesn't use it, it will be stored as fat. It's in the book SOMEWHERE....I'll have to look for it.

Yes, carb up days your carbs outweigh your protein at the last 2 meals.

It is the same make/model that I have at home and it varied between a 1 lb difference to a 3 lb difference. I don't get it, 3 scales, 3 different weights. Can I just chose the lowest and move on????? I'm obsessed with the scale....

Kelley, do you have voodoo scale with my name on it also????

I do like my moms scale better, but I know that will disappoint me when I have to give it back to her tonight and go back to using my scale.
Just use the same scale all the time- same place, same time of day- preferably morning after using the bathroom, b4 eating or drinking- same clothes or b-day suit- you want to see the real progress- even when I get a few different numbers (that happens- I get on 3-4 times. OCD, or what?) , I use the lowest- now that's fair, isn't it?

Oh yes, more embarrassing when going down stairs- that's public! I get this problem easily- I have FMS- so I have all the cures. Try pouring 1-2 cups kosher salt in the bath- that really helps!!
Try a hot soak 2nite- a good stretch of all the painful muscles while they're warm, and straight to bed. You will feel much better 2morrow!

Hello

Hi,

I'm new to the Code, Week 2 Day 4, and I gotta say, reading all your supportive and positive messages really helped me get through Week 1 - so, thanks!

I was pretty beat the first week but now that I'm eating a few carbs I have a lot more energy, even on Carb down days. So to those of you who are just starting out, hang in there!

I have a quick question, if anyone knows the answers it would be much appreciated

I read in the FAQ's here that we can have whipping cream or half n' half with our coffee and sweetener. I also saw in the book that coffee is considered a Free Food, which we can have it as a compliment to our meals but not in place of a meal. Are we allowed to have coffee/tea and a little half and half between meals?

Thanks so much!

I drink ice tea in between meals. If you choose to have coffee with half and half, make sure you count the fat grams toward your daily "B" fat limit. Also, make sure you still drink all of your water each day. Don't let the coffee or tea be a substitute for your water servings.

That was fast-thanks!

Looks like I'll have to start enjoying black coffee, I like to use my 20g of B fat as cheese with my protein.

Congrats on your huge weightloss success, Renee!

I even made a cake last night for a potluck thing today at work and didn't really care that I couldn't have any. So Vladis - stick with me, we'll do this thing!
Oh, ya, Pam, I am sticking with it and with you. I noticed something today - the sleeves on my favorite workout t/shirt are not tight. They stick out just half an inch or so but they to STICK OUT. Maybe it's my imagination so I will keep an eye on my other stuff. I suppose those inches can first come off of most "weird" places

Thanks, Renee! I was leaning that way as well. I am meeting a friend for a late lunch/early dinner. No drinks (oh well) and then if it;s before 3 I'll get some sushi and if not - sashimi

[quote=tamjlm;11124758
Scenario 2 seems much better. NOT GOOD to carb up 2 days in a row (I've had that experience on the holidays....) It reverses progress and turns your cravings back on big time!
Downside was that I went 5 hours without eating. Waited for the bus for 45 minutes on the way home....- still have a headache. This WOE is unbelievable- we really learn to appreciate everything we eat, and it takes simple, good food to make us happy.
Thanks, Tam. You and Renee agree - scenario #2. I am OK with it.

I went w/out food for 5 hours once as well - wasn't pretty. Now I always carry something with me (Atkins or EAS shakes in my car).

I agree with you - I am much more mindful as to what I put into my mouth on this WOE. I want to lose weight/fat but I also want to eat healthy. I finally got stevia and banned splenda around here

The recipe looks great as well - I love the combination. Maybe that's what I am going to make tonight!!!

Kelly, I got a new digital scale a coupled of weeks ago - the one with all bells and whistles. Actually, I got it right after week 1. Well, I stepped on it and didn't like what I saw. Then I was testing the new one against the old one - different numbers and 10 minutes later - new numbers!!! Really made me mad. So the new scale is behind my clothes in the closet and the old one down the hall - I can't just step on it while passing by. If I get an idea to go and weight myself, I usually can talk myself out of it as I am walking down the hall.

How are you doing buddy?

I have my coffee in the AM and I love hot tea (addicted to Teavana here). I have it whenever I feel like it.

Dancing Linda – Hi and your party sounds like fun! I live in El Paso for 9 years of my life (military brat) and love the southwest. I put up my chili pepper lights every Christmas. My baby girl is doing much better. No crying last night!

HI Pam! Yes, my carli loves her baths! She is doing much better today. About PX90 – that man is a killer. I got his 10 minute series and I can barely make it through one of those!

Pam – chances are you aren’t eating enough. I know it sounds counterproductive but that is usually the answer.

Naomi – be sure to post that recipe to our recipe thread sounds yummy! I make my crepes with chocolate protein power and banana extract and boy are they good!

Renee – Hi – Thanks for the info on the holidays. Congrats on your run. I plan on doing my W6D3 run tonight. Next spring, no you will be there by Christmas!

Sara – Thanks for the warm thoughts. We are doing much better. I hope your granddaughter is doing better – that is so scary!

Val – I’m so happy for you, but remember don’t rely on that dang scale – the inches are more reliable. I weigh 147 (5’2) and I’m wearing 8s and everyone keeps telling me I don’t need to lose much more weight.

Put that recipe in the recipe thread! So we all know where to go. Have you checked it out yet? There are some great recipes!

Tam – I think everyone was. She was crying, I was holding the bag in front of her face, and my 18 month old was screaming because she wanted to run around.

Keep with it – I think you are doing great considering all of your holidays! If I can make it through Christmas like you made it through your holidays I will be very happy!

What am I going to do with you – forget that dang scale and be happy your skirt and panties are falling down! Look at what you just said “I’ve never been so thin at such a high weight” You are a lean, mean, machine! How can you be frustrated after what you just said silly girl????

Gemini Linda – HI!

Carla – Oh yes! Cheat Day – anything you want whenever you want. Carb Up day Starch in am, and the predominately starchy meals for the last 2 meals of the day.

Yes, you are right you CAN’T mess up. If you can get out of that mentality food is no longer off limits and loses some of its appeal!

I’m watching you, stay away from the scale.

Myshell – This IS NOT a weight loss program it is a fat loss program. Don’t worry about pounds – concentrate on inches! Like our MENTOR JERRI says
It is NONE of your business what you weigh!

Everyone has been different. Just follow the plan and soon your pants will be falling down. Just enjoy!

Nina – I have always said weigh at least 2 days after carb up days. I tend to weigh every Wed morning because it is an accurate reflection of my true fat loss. If you weigh on Monday chances are you are carrying that extra water weight from your Carb Up day on Sat. and you get yourself all upset for nothing.

Nina – great point exercise is very important and if you are building muscle than the scale will definitely go up and down. Remember my lovely picture of muscle vs. fat I posted???? Just saw your post I would go for 4 oz of protein and see if it helps. I think that man/woman thing is crazy. It should be based on your BMI. Does anyone remember where you can find the BMI calculator?

Jupiter – I didn’t follow any of the menus, just followed the rules for the particular day. Soon you will be a pro!

KK17 – Welcome! I drink my coffee on and off throughout the day. I think she doesn’t want you to substitute coffee for your snack.

welcome Kk I hope you make your goal with this plan. I can't see why you wouldn't. Kim you are a fine example of the scale surprising you with a loss. Congrats!

One of my friends was bragging last night while we made garland that he lost 15 lbs. I said great, me too! He said it only took him 2 months, I said it took me 4 weeks. Our woe rocks!!!!

I've also noticed I'm not hungry or thirsty. Nothing! is that normal. my schedule to eat is 8,11,2,5,8. Water each meal 20 oz. The last couple of days and i know it's because i'm not setting my alarm i find 5 hours have gone by and i remember to eat.

Yesterday my 2 meal was it. not on purpose i made meals to take to work and brought water and then totally forgot about them till I got home at midnight. Decided going to bed so too late to eat. Did not wake up hungry. Made my meal so i could reset my eating clock at 8 and then got side tracked and it was 9:30. I forced that meal down cause i wasn't hungy.

I swear I have not been hungry once! I guess I've found the perfect food combos for me. going to set my alarms now just to get this day on track. Eating junk food I was constantly grazing all day long because I was hungry. Processed junk food Bad!

Going to go do stuff but see you all later.

Linda, it is very normal to lose your appetite. But remember you want to keep your fires burning so eat at least every 4 hours while awake. Plus you are so active you need to keep your energy up!

Vladis,

I agree with Renee and Kelley...I would do #2. Keep up the good work dear, your workout T shirt is getting loose?? THAT is a great NSV!!

If I get a hunger pang I always grab "something" protein. The learning part is to think back (or look back at your daily food journal...which can be quite revealing) to what your food day /meals looked like. Maybe you scarfed a snack instead of enjoyed it with a glass of water. Maybe the same at lunch because you were in a hurry? I know I have done these and found it does effect my eating later in the day. Also, along with Tam, I find if I eat "too much" carby-starchy stuff in the AM hours, I tend to get hungrier at night.
HTH!

Hi Ladies!

Kelley! Hi lady!! I am so glad Carli is doing better...now it is my turn! Megs is complaining about a tummy ache She is laying down with a bucket on hand...if she asks for one I comply!!

Renee! You've been the resident expert this morning! Thanks for hanging

Anyhoo...the owners of the house I wanted would like me to go up in price $9,000. I can't do it, so I am moving on to my #2 pick. I'm good with it and found great peace last night. The right house will reveal itself in His time

Alissa, thank you! I am glad it's #2 and I am mentally ready.
Yeh, the T'shirt's sleeves seem to be sticking out I am trying not to get crazy here. Now, why is it so much easier to believe something bad is happening and not the other way around?

Alissa, I hope Megs is feeling better. Maaaan, those little ones!!!

week 5 Day 3

Good for you Alissa, and you never know they might except your offer. I didn't get the house I wanted but my realtor was looking out for me and steered me to a better location and I love it.

Val I popped back on to say thanks for the planner. I made copies to give to my students starting it makes it so easy with it. Ladies I would get a copy. It's perfect! Jackie get started on your cracker cook book and let us download that when your through. By then we will have met our goals but I will have lots of people joining once they see my results.

Thanks again. going to fill mine out and stick it on the fridge.

Keep with it – I think you are doing great considering all of your holidays! If I can make it through Christmas like you made it through your holidays I will be very happy!

Glad Carli is better!

I added in meal number 6 but have not been hungry in the evening so I doubt I will actually have that meal very often. The jerky listed is homemade lean beef, sugar-free and a dash of Cectic salt.

Thanks for all the food tips - Dede - I'll try those crepes your way - sounds a lot better. Mine was one big gloppy mess. I used wet oatmeal, as it didn't say dry or cooked, and I thought it would just say oats if it was dry. So i used cooked. It was so nasty'sville. And I'll check out Trader Joe's for EZ bread, or walmart even. Today was my first carb up day, and I loved. . . .. the bagel. My stomach is so happy right now!!! I am having a bunch of teenage girls over to make cookies this afternoon, and I am not even tempted to snitch!!!! One of them even said to me yesterday, 'hey! you look good!" Yipppeee for me!!!! 8 pounds down, and halfway through 2nd week. Thank you for all your help and support.

Good for you kim. Once you get rid of the cravings food just doesn't have the power over you anymore. My job, we are always going out to eat after class and everyone is always bringing me home made treats. In the old days I ate merrily along. Now I pass it around till there's nothing left for me. I'm happy!

Kelley - I'm glad you are all better. I was wondering if I needed to send out a search party since you've been MIA all morning!

Alissa - Kepp the faith, girl. The right deal will come along! Can ya'll tell it's raining here? Thus all the posts I've made this morning LOL!!!

Oh, and I made the chocolate waffles yesterday. CAUTION, chocolate waffles may explode!!!! My batter was a little thin, so I thought I needed to pour extra to cover all the waffle "holes" on the waffle iron.....Um, let's just say when I closed the lid and turned my back I heard a strange rumbling noise. When I turned around, I had waffle mix EVERYWHERE!!!! What remained in the waffle maker was yummy though LOL!!!

Still watching it rain.................XOXO
