I use the EAS and Atkins. I like the taste of both. I went to Sams Club last night in search of Atkins by the case. They had vanilla but I wanted chocolate. So, I bought the Slimfast low carb high protein @ $18.58 a case. It has 2g of sugar.

Linda: Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxer and it helps you get into a deeper sleep. Calcium is needed by every system of our body, not just our teeth and bones, so it is important to take it at the same time we take the magnesium for maximum absorption of the calcium. It is important that your calcium contain vitamin D in addition to the magnesium.

Americano with a Sugar Free syrup and some half and half. It is yummy! Some people also put in their milk chocolate or caramel cafe or mocha latte' protein shakes in their americanos.
Thanks Jackie. I've been taking the cal/mag with Vitamin D combo one for a while now (I'm past the 50 age mark). I picked up more last night at Sams Club. They now carry the Caltrate Calcium/Vitamin D/Minerals.

good morning Vladis and gemini linda! Who ever else is on.
Welcome Linda number 5 we're here for you. Carla like Vladis said it will get better. Vladis I think you have to do a carb down before, but if you just want to change thursday leave the rest of the week alone and just deal with that one day. Enjoy but don't go crazy.
It's pouring raining here since yesterday so I'll probably read all day. One of my favorite things to do on a rainy day. I'll read the post you suggested. Everyone have a stress free day and think thin thoughts.

I found the EZ bread in Walmart in the freezer section I had to ask as it was not easy to find.

Linda!!!! Miss "talking" to you
If I just change my Thur to carb up, do I make Fri carb down or keep it at Baseline? Don't you always have to carb down before a carb up day?

Kim crepes

Kim
I make wendys crepes with some tweaks to it, only use 1/4 oatmeal dry with the rest of the ingredients plus I put vanilla in it and one package of stevia, cinnamon if you like as well. Blend it really well. I make them paperthin like a true crepe you might have to add a little more water. I cook them on a crepe pan as well. I get 5 or 6 crepes out of the recipie in the book. They keep in the fridge put a layer of wax paper inbetween. I also eat them cold like a wrap with a thin layer of herb and garlic cream cheese and some cold meat in them and they are great.

I dont think creative cooking is Wendy's expertise.(sorry Wendy no offense) I find you have to be creative with the menu's

Jackie has some wonderful recipes...and check out the recipe thread (link is on the third post of this thread) Hopefully that helps I feed my kiddos "different" foods as well (most of the time).

Not a fan of the crepes either but maybe putting them in the food processor would help. Like Alissa said, I'd rather just eat oatmeal. Hubby likes the Jay Robb, but I personally don't care for it. Plus since I'm gone from home 10 hrs a day at least, it's easier to get premade shakes. The cost wasn't much different. I use EAS or Atkins but am going to look for Slimfast too.

I've even found them in my local grocery store - they have a separate refrigerated case for organic food. Look for it by Amy's frozen dinners - they are almost always nearby, here anyway. They were out of buns though so I'll have to go back for those.

Vladis Yeah, I'm feeling a little bummed, but it's my own stinkin fault for weighing I suppose. When I think about it, what are my options though? Go back to the old way of eating? Not only will I not lose, I'll gain back plus some most likely. Besides, like a lot of you, I'm so much more in control of my cravings. I even made a cake last night for a potluck thing today at work and didn't really care that I couldn't have any. So Vladis - stick with me, we'll do this thing! Email me if you ever would like to (ploveland@gmail.com) or I'm online generally during the day (skydivenchick@yahoo.com or jmprgrl74@aol.com) Anyone else is free to add me/email me too. (I was a skydiver for 4 yrs - that's why all the jumping emails Will get back to it soon.)

I'm glad today is carb up. We have this huge 'fall feast' today at work where the firm provides turkey and ham, then everyone brings in other food. There are about 150 people in our firm so that's a LOT of food. Then in three weeks is their Christmas party where 7 conference rooms are filled with catered food and alcohol is free flowing. Ugh. I'm actually not too terribly concerned since I'm never that hungry anymore. I remember always WANTING to eat and now my tummy will growl and I'll think, "Oh I should probably eat something." Wow. I'll sample a little of this or that but mostly stick with turkey today. That should be fine right? It's after 21 days so I can have a little cake if I want?

My legs hurt SO badly I can barely move. I did some of my husband's video just to see if I could really and only did half, but it was all squats, lunges and so forth for the 30 mins I did it. Two days later I hurt worse than right after (of course). Yeah, def'ly going back to running. It's more fun, more rewarding and doesn't leave me without mobility for days (which keeps me from working out again!)

Welp, have a mediation to get ready for. Have a great day guys!

Vladis, I'd do scenario #2. The 2 carb down days after Sunday's carb up day won't hurt. I din't think 2 carb up days in a row in scenario #1 is a good idea. You totally could do it if you had to, just don't weigh yourself for a couple of days LOL! Make good food choices and you'll do fine.

The light was on, but nobody was home...

Thanks for the support and encouragement- Alissa , Dede and Linda- (did I forget anyone?? my head hurts....) You're not rid of me yet, and yes, it is nice to be thinner and lighter after the holidays, while my friends are still struggling with the holiday weight.... maybe I am expecting too much!

Scenario 2 seems much better. NOT GOOD to carb up 2 days in a row (I've had that experience on the holidays....) It reverses progress and turns your cravings back on big time!
As for your week 5 issue... it's easier to carb down 2 days in a row, though I found it hard, than do 2 carb ups in a row and continue from there.
It will definitely NOT effect your progress- and carbing up 2 days in a row definitely will!

Raining here too, but it waited til I was back home. Like the think thin thoughts line.

Did 30 minutes on the elliptical, and then a 50 minute killer Pilates class. Love it- especially working out in front of that mirror and seeing the empty t-shirt and looser pants...
Downside was that I went 5 hours without eating. Waited for the bus for 45 minutes on the way home....- still have a headache. Glad it's a carb-up day- had a WW pita bread with tomatoe, pickle and soy franks, Hellman's Lite and ketchup. Sounds crazy, but it was SOOOOO good!- and 2.5 hours later had a chocolate pudding with whipped cream on top with a cup of coffee with real milk!! LOVE these carb-up days! M4 will be a protein shake with a banana (been looking forward to it since last Wed. when I wanted one and was outa bananas- someone suggested it on the thread, and I went OY, I just ate the last one.
This WOE is unbelievable- we really learn to appreciate everything we eat, and it takes simple, good food to make us happy.
Tonight I have 2 weddings and a bar-mitzvah to go to... hope it stops raining. I will go after the shake, and won't join in the meals- It's accepted here to drop by for awhile just to say "Mazal Tov"- (congratulations) If I see something I like, I can have that as M5.
As I am carb sensitive, I follow Wendy's advice and spread out my carbs through the day, having a regular low carb bkfst (a shake and a 1 minute muffin- sets me up for the whole morning).
I find I eat less in the end.
Oh my, things are heating up over here- you just all rolled outa bed!

Quick question. I seem to be having problems at night on my carb down days. after dinner and my workout ( usually about an hour) I am really wanting to eat again. could this be because i am not eating enough protein? Baseline days I am fine. I am jsut not sure....

You can have some treats with your turkey... it's carb-up day, and after 21 days- enjoy!!! You're supposed to carb up today.

Stretch after working out like that- it helps avoid the soreness- now it's too late, but a hot bath would definitely help to soak it away- a bit of stretching after that will move you forward!

Know what you mean about not thinking about food anymore- I get a headache now, and remember I didn't eat- I don't even get hungry...

Check to see if you're eating enough protein and fat, and drinking enough water before and after your workout. Your body does deplete on carb down days. Each meal should have both protein and fat.
It helps to have your daily carb at lunch rather than breakfast if you have that problem in the evenings.

Dancing Linda,

Thinking thin, here. If I think it, it will happen. Positive thinking, sending out the vibes to all the crackers. I really am enjoying this WOE.

Tam~~you just reminded me I have one banana left. So, I'm going to add it to my protein shake too.

Someone mentioned the Steel Cut Oats. I love them. Had them today, with a scoop of Vanilla protein powder and a heaping tbl of pumpkin. And here I am typing away, watching the Today Show and they are showing these awesome homemade cakes. I have to say the thought of all that sugar makes me feel icky. It's going to rain here later so I have to get off here and finish bagging up the leaves in my back yard.

Week 5 Day 3

Just checking in and wanted to say hi to everyone. Welcome to the newbies!
Well I weighed in this morning and I have lost 4 lbs. I lost 7lbs in week1 then nothing in week 2,3,4 and now two days into week 5. So I am happy. People are noticing that I am losing weight so I am happy. My husband is Week 1 Day 3 and so far so good. I am really proud of him. He hasn't complained too much. I am on day 3 of carb down. I had to do three so that my carb up would fall on Thursday. It hasn't been bad at all.

Also I made up a new recipe last night because I am trying to make something different everyday for my husband so he doesn't give up. I ate the same thing everyday on my week 1 it didn't matter. Ok here it is:

Stuffed Portabella

Two large portabella mushrooms
2 boneless skinless chicken breast
4 slices turkey bacon
1 oz sliced muenster cheese (for each person)
pepper
spicy curry powder
onion powder
garlic powder
whatever spices you want

broiled chicken with spices and at the same time in another dish spray baking dish with pam then put the 4 slices of bacon and put the two portabella mushrooms on top of the bacon and sprinkle some spices on mushroom.(my mushrooms were about 4 1/2 to 5 inches wide). Put aluminum foil over and bake until mushroom is cooked about 20 min at 400.
Then put the chicken on top of mushrooms then the bacon and put the cheese on top and place in broiler for 30 sec or so. I served with salad. They were very tasty.

Thanks - I just double-checked (I have it on my Kindle) and, yes, it says BEFORE 3pm for all days - baseline, carb-up, and carb-down. I had heard that the original book was not organized too well, so I thought maybe the e-book had a *major* error in it.

Confessions of a scal-a-holic....

Can you pick and choose your scale like you pick and choose your friends?

I stepped on my mom's scale last night and for a night time weigh in, it was a few lbs lower than my scale at home in the morning. So I "borrowed" her scale. It is the same make/model that I have at home and it varied between a 1 lb difference to a 3 lb difference. I don't get it, 3 scales, 3 different weights. Can I just chose the lowest and move on????? I'm obsessed with the scale....

Kelley, do you have voodoo scale with my name on it also????

I do like my moms scale better, but I know that will disappoint me when I have to give it back to her tonight and go back to using my scale.

Carb up day should look like this:
M1 - P/S
M2 - P/O
M3 - P/V/O
M4 - SA or A
N5 - SA

Your last 2 meals of the day should be primarily startch with a little protein accompanying it. Wendy's examples are 6" sub for M4 and then 2 slices of pizza for M5, or Chips and salsa for M4 with pasta and meatball for M5. The last 2 meals on this day should be eaten after 3 pm - not before 3 as with baseline and carb down days.

Thanks for the advice! I will def'ly be more careful about that next time. It's rather comical actually. Just sitting down to go pee (sorry, TMI) is ridiculously funny with all the grunting and growning. LOL!

I thought that women were suppose to have 3 to 4 oz of protein at a sitting is that correct Men are 4-6 oz
What about snacks how much protein there.
Carb up days your carbs out weigh you protein (last two meals )
